Good service. My waitress was really sweet and she let me try the food before ordering. They treat the guest with respect. Great place to have breakfast with your family.

Google
We had high hopes for this restaurant but left a little disappointed. The service was a little slow and it looked like only one waitress was working at that time. The brisket hash was a big bust. Not what we expected at all. It tasted like left over pot roast and the scrambled eggs were overcooked. The biscuits were really good and fresh and the hash browns were really crispy. We would give this place another try but definitely stay away from the brisket hash.

Google
Decent food. Quaint atmosphere. Nice staff. It was a pleasant breakfast. Good prices, portions reasonable. Husband and I split a base omelet platter, with added mushrooms, it was tasty and light. The platter also came with hash browns or home fries, and a bread , one of the options for that was biscuits and gravy., which is what we tried. All in all it was enough for 2 as a light breakfast.

Google
Food is trash!! Lacks season and looks like slop on the plate. They add a spicy season which is not needed without other seasoning. How do you get eggs to taste like water? The 2 servers were nice but don’t recommend a soul food restaurant because I’m black and the restaurant lacks flavor, CRAZY!! Then say we got good reviews. Wish I took pics for proof, my fault.

Google
Small diner in downtown Norman. Had the brisket burrito special. It was good. No wait great service. Basic diner food menu.

Google
My daughter and I eat here almost once a week. We have had the best service and love the atmosphere. The food is always the best! It’s so good my daughter wanted the hashbrowns at her graduation party! I picked them up hot and ready to serve! Thank you for such an amazing, friendly, local restaurant! We appreciate you all!

Google
Cozy old school diner. I wish there was more of these throughout America, instead of the large corporate restaurants that seem so commonplace. Ordered coffee, brisket hash with over easy eggs, and a side of bacon. Did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service was perfect, even the cook asked what I thought of the food. This is one spot I will frequent in my travels, as it isn’t too far off the beaten path for me.

Google
💫 The Diner is a legit, throwback experience of the classic American diners of yesteryear. 💥 The food was great, coffee was better than I expected, and staff were friendly and fun. 📍 This place has been featured on The Food Network twice, and for good reason. Check it out next time you’re in Norman!

Yelp
The food was AMAZING, had trouble picking what I want to eat this morning, one of the new waitresses helped me out and it was the best decision I ever made, meat is cooked to perfection, love the peppers, cheese, sauces and the hash browns as well. The ambiance of the diner is beautiful and old school, I'm a sucker for mom and pop diners, great playlist of music and it felt like an authentic old school diner to come around break and lunch. Would definitely come back here again!

Reginald B.

Yelp
The food was OK. The service was OK. The cooks disappeared while we were waiting for our food after we had ordered it. The waitress said that the computer had a glitch and they did not receive our order. The ambience was not good at all. The kitchen area was nasty to go to the bathroom. You had to walk through the wash area kitchen area. We will not be going back to this restaurant.

Yelp
I'll start with the positives: Omelets are delicious, eggs are fluffy, hash browns are crispy and not greasy, biscuits and gravy are tasty although biscuit is a bit dry, coffee is good. Negatives: extremely small space making you feel very cramped, small bathroom, not the cleanest feeling restaurant I've been in, food took a long time to get to the table, NO KIDS MENU, expensive!! Our waitress was great at first. She refilled our coffee's quickly and I was very happy about that. But once the food came, she disappeared and we never saw her again. I don't know if she went home, or was on break, she never communicated with us but we never saw her again and we never got more coffee. This is such a tiny, cramped, hole in the wall diner but they're charging big restaurant prices. For 2 coffees and 2 apple juices we paid $13!!!!!!! I had a create your own omelet and my husband had the brisket hash and ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. We ordered the 2x2x2 with chocolate chip pancakes for our kids to split since there was no kids menu. Our bill came to $53 before tip! For a tiny little hole in the wall diner? Nope. Not paying those prices to be squeezed into a booth feeling like sardines. The omelet was good, but not that good.

Brenda M.

Yelp
You know a place has been around a while when the sign advertises air conditioning. It is a little hole in wall breakfast and lunch place. 6 types of hot sauce on the table. The brisket hash is a bit spicy. The tamale breakfast is good.

Yelp
Wow, what can you say about this Norman staple. The ambience has you reminiscing about the good ol days with yummy food and don't forget the shake!!
google avatar

Yelp
Very small but great! Our server was amazing. The food was delicious. Hubs had the special corned beef hash. I had the mexiscram.

Yelp
Basic diner food. Really great service. Quickly seated compared to some of their popular competitors nearby.
google avatar

Geoff S.

Yelp
Classic diner with great food and d matching vibe. CFS (huge) and eggs filled up a 14 year old. Huevos rancheros very good. 5 stars

Philip B.

Yelp
Counter seating for one. Great breakfast and you get the luxury to watch your favorites made in front of you.
google avatar

Lawrence C.

Yelp
Somewhat generous with the 4 stars only (due to the age/cleanliness). Classic old coffee shop. Great service and food. Enjoy coffee and breakfast there. You would not be disappointed in your visit. Not a lot of seating. Nostalgic place. Definitely will return. Best to the owner.

Yelp
This place looks like a hole in the wall and it is. It's also a great diner. The name says it simply and that how the food is cooked. I judge a breakfast place on how I order my eggs. If I say over medium and they don't know or look at me funny then I just say over easy and I get over medium. This place knew. Service was great. The decor was dated and old but I like the rustic look. Plus it's in Norman Oklahoma and that's how many places are. The food was really good and felt fresh. Eggs were cooked perfect. The link sausage had that skin that pops when you bite down and was flavorful. The oatmeal was thick. Some people like it more runny or with milk but I enjoyed it. It felt like it coated your ribs. Overall you shouldn't pass through and not get breakfast there. Great place to get a simple home cooked breakfast.

Anthony P.

Yelp
Our favorite place to eat when we are in Norman. The food is great and the staff is friendly. Try the meatloaf special if it is available.

Yelp
I know The Diner is a Norman staple, but I was pretty underwhelmed at my breakfast. All the food was just okay. The hash browns were the best thing in my opinion, and my friend's tamale breakfast was pretty tasty. Maybe I should have ventured out and got something more exciting like the tamale. But, I love biscuits and gravy, so that is usually my go to when I visit a breakfast joint. The gravy here tasted like it was made from a mix and the biscuits seemed like they were mass produced elsewhere, so it was a big miss for me. The positives were that the restaurant was very cute and offered a quintessential diner experience. Our waitress was very friendly and the prices were quite affordable. So it definitely has some good things going for it, but to me, it left a little to be desired.

Yelp
The Diner is a lot smaller than I thought it'd be so be prepared to wait if you go on the weekend. We got lucky and was able to be seated right away. I enjoyed the food and our waiter. I didn't feel like it was anything super extra special but was the food was good.
google avatar

Colby B.

Yelp
A staple on Main Street in Norman for a reason. Great breakfast, worth the wait, try the Tamale breakfast

Russell J.

Yelp
Funky old diner, very small, crowded on weekends. Still a must for me every time I'm in Norman. Haven't had a bad breakfast there yet. If you need Marie Calendar's decor and fluff, don't go. It'll make it less crowded for the rest of us!

Yelp
My wife was in Norman for an ultramarathon run, so my daughter and I were looking for a good place to eat. I found this place because it was on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives and we thought we would give it a try. It's a small place, but it's clean and has a classic diner atmosphere. We had to wait a little while, but not too bad. The service was ok, nothing to write home about. They weren't really rude, but not really friendly either. One of my daughters go to breakfast favorites is french toast. So that's what she ordered, comes with eggs, she had scrambled, and hash browns. I wanted to try something new, something different. I ordered the southside burger. It has grilled ham, cheese, pickles, mayo, and bbq sauce, side of fries. I also heard about their chili, and I love chili, so I ordered a cup. Well, the french toast was made with a wheat berry bread. The waitress warned us about that, but we didn't think it would be that bad, but it was. The bread was very tough, chewy, not a good flavor at all. My daughter had a couple of bites and couldn't eat any more. Her favorite thing was the scrambled eggs. They weren't anything special, but at least they were edible. My southside burger was ok. The bbq sauce was sweet, very sweet. If I had known that I would have had them hold the bbq sauce. It made the sandwich worse. I didn't finish that either. The fries were fries. The hash browns were hash browns. Again, nothing special but at least edible. Now for the chili. Again, I love chili. I have actually won a local chili cook off here at my church. I was looking forward to trying their version of chili. Man, was I disappointed! It was essentially flavorless. It was like ground beef cooked in tomato sauce. I couldn't taste the chili powder or cumin or garlic. There's no way that chili won any kind of competition. You know, everyone has a bad day. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Based on the service we received and food we were served, I would not go back. Any chain restaurant that serves breakfast is better than this place.

Yelp
Great, fun place to grab brunch! Classic diner atmosphere with great service. Would go back

Yelp
Best breakfast in downtown Norman! Eggs biscuits, hash browns, bacon is all you need. Remember to ask for your bacon how you want. Otherwise it comes extra crispy

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Little hometown feeling diner with great food and great service!!! Huge portions. Took off 1 star simply for the menu as the majority of options had a "tex-mex" flair that I'm not crazy about. My simple omelette with jack and cream cheeses, tomatoes and avocado was fantastic though!!!

Katie B.

Yelp
Great Norman diner feel! Good food & service.Down home feel ,,, every one is very friendly, you can sit a the counter or grab a booth,
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Norman breakfast staple. Just an old fashioned diner just like the name says. Can be a bit of a wait but that's just part of it.
google avatar

Linda W.

Yelp
My first visit there. I love the quaintness vibe on a small cafe in Main Street. I ordered a Frito chili pie for lunch. It was served on a plate, with very little chili , but sprinkled hamburger. The funny part of this is they only provide a fork and a knife place setting. It was like eating Cheerios on a plate with a fork!!! It was Very dry! I asked the girl. Shouldn't this be in a bow? She laughed and said no..... that's how we serve it!! Aren't you supposed to crunch up the Fritos in a liquid bowl of Chili? It's weird. I won't go back.

Yelp
I'm going to save you the trouble! Go early, like before 830. Order the chicken fried steak breakfast or the egg-a-rito(sp). Get a table pancake. Just one. Plan on going home to take a nap afterwards. Best breakfast in Norman. The OG.
google avatar

Tracy C.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast spits in Norman! This traditional diner is so much fun... The fluffiest pancakes - and scrumptious breakfast dishes. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Nice place for a quick bite. You can hardly find diners like this anymore. Not around here anyway. I brought my mom to The Diner for breakfast and she loved it from the moment she had seen the sign from a side street. "That's cute," she said, "It's a hole in the wall!" She ordered the 2x2x2 and I ordered a jalapeño, bacon omelet with home fries, and biscuits with gravy. Mom loved her pancakes (asked for cold syrup cause she doesn't quite like warm like they serve here). OJ has no pulp, if that's your thing. My omelet was good. I was thinking it could have used more jalapeños because I only had about 4 or 5. That is until I got to the last several bites; egg and jalapeños. :) I just let it go and moved onto the home fries. When I asked the server how they were cooked she had said "cut and fried potatoes with onions." It sounded like a reliable choice so I ordered it. I only took 2 bites. For me, there was an overpowering taste of chili powder. Almost as if they wanted to make it a SW style potato. Now, I know. :) The biscuits and gravy was alright. They were probably my favorite part besides the OJ. Same with the pancakes for my mom. She said she would be back for sure. She wants to try lunch next time. There were people recovering from the night before, teens with their grandparents, office building types, and some hipsters so no one should ever feel out of place. You seat yourself, menus are on the table, there is a bar top for single diners and those who like being near the kitchen, and the staff, though casual, carry themselves with respect so you can expect to be served by positive people. They have tshirts for sale as well. Enjoy

Yelp
We had a really awesome waitress and the service was great! The food was just average. Although I will say the biscuits were pretty divine! They were soft and texturally perfect!
google avatar

Marla J.

Yelp
Wow ! Diners drive ins and dives was right! Great food a notch above the standard "Diner" status.. Delicious and great service!!!!
google avatar

Anitra T.

Yelp
Ummmmm YUMMMMM is all I can say. This place is a serious hole in the wall diner. It may or may not have clean cups. Lmao. But the food sure was delish. It is very small and you will wait outside if it's a wait. The place is that small. You also walk through the kitchen to get to the restroom. You see the cooks cutting fresh potatoes and everything. It was quite cool even though the restroom wasn't that great. The portions are generous and the food is hearty and filling. If you're looking to eat "healthy" go somewhere else. You're sure to want a nap after you eat here. Definitely going back for round 2
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect breakfast place. I've lived in Norman my whole life and have heard about this place for years. It's pretty small so any time I've tried to go it's been packed with a long line. The kids woke us up early so we figured this would be perfect timing. Went at 7:30ish and there were plenty of a tables open. It has a cute classic diner atmosphere. Restaurant was clean and all of the staff were wearing masks. The service was great and the waitstaff came by several times to make sure we were well taken care of. I ordered the 2x2x2 and the pancakes were delicious. Eggs and bacon were good too and everything came out piping hot fresh off the griddle. Husband had the chicken fried steak and it was sooo good! I'm definitely getting that next time for myself. The gravy was really good too. My son had the chocolate chip pancake but I stole a few bites myself, yum!

Nick S.

Yelp
Food (Eggarrito) is great as always! Staff friendly and attentive. Definitely has the diner feel. Love it here!
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Was in town to move our daughter into the dorm for her freshman year and we took her out to one of my two favorite breakfast joints from my time at OU in the early 90's. Since Pinks closed, that left The Diner and it is still exactly as I left it 30 years ago. Great, straight forward breakfast fare in as close to a classic diner as you will find in this part of the country. Make sure you get a cup of chili no matter what else you get.
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
Food is good. Service was good. Nothing fancy but it's a good place for a decent bite to eat. Everyone is really friendly.
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
This is an authentic old school diner. Great food. I love the blueberry pancakes with huge fresh blueberries. They really know how to make a great patty melt which is my go to burger. While you are visiting you have to check out the washroom! Know that this business has been a restaurant for about 100 years. This is where you know It is a single toilet and sink in a tiny room with a quarter moon cut in the door like an old outhouse! The diner has been on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Guy loved the chili!

Rob B.

Yelp
I have always enjoyed this place- food is good and service is good. Only issue is that it is small and very popular- wait times can be long especially on OU football saturdays
google avatar

Quinda B.

Yelp
I don't get the high reviews unless people have never had real good food. My hash browns were black in many areas and dry. Bacon was like dehydrated fat. It was tight, crowded, and felt nasty. I've been twice thinking it was a bad day for the cook the first attempt but no. It is terrible.
google avatar

Lydia F.

Yelp
I love The Diner. I haven't had anything bad. Everything is always perfectly cooked. I usually get two eggs over medium with bacon, hash browns, and a biscuit. Their biscuits are the only think that could use some improvement. I've also had the two eggs over tamales. Knocked it out of the park. The homemade chilli is spectacular. The establishment is really tiny, but the customer service is always friendly. I'm a fan.

Yelp
We walked in to find a long hallway type Space with booths on the left hand side and counter seating overlooking the flattop. There were a couple parties ahead of us but it was maybe 5-8mins before a booth was cleared and we were able to sit. Wouldn't recommend coming here with a party larger than 4 due to potential wait time and even then you'll be touching elbows in the booth. It was time for Sunday brunch and I was craving a burger, go figure. So I ordered the cheese burger with bacon, no onions please! Fries which was an upcharge to a side of ridged potato chips and I asked for mayo and mustard on the side. When our food arrived my server forgot my on the side condiments but nbd. The amount of bacon added to the burger was very satisfactory. Bun was soft, burger was cooked nicely, just done very well. It wasn't the best burger I've ever had but it suffices. $9-10 plus a $1something upcharge for the fries. This place has a lot of history but I didn't really get the hype. As customers walked in, the cold air hits you like a freight train if you're 'lucky' to sit in one of the first two booths. Even though I'm giving them 3 stars, I'm looking forward to trying them again and ordering off of the breakfast menu since most of the 4-5 star reviews are talking about breakfast.
google avatar

Holly F.

Yelp
The Diner is the perfect place to go for a throw-down brunch! Just as the name alludes it is a cute little hole-in-the-wall diner with a countertop where you can see the cooks cooking. The food is AMAZING and definitely hearty! My favorite thing on the menu is the tamale plate with the homefries! It is super filling and has excellent flavor. They normally seat you quickly and the service is always great.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday for breakfast ( approx 10am). There was a wait- but not long. The inside isn't big; about 10 counter stools and 6 tables. Wait staff was nice- keep us hydrated w water and coffee while we waited for food. Blueberry pancakes and omelettes were delicious. Not too much, but definitely enough food to satisfy my college kid on a Sunday morning. A classic old-time diner.
google avatar

Rustin S.

Yelp
I've been going to The Diner for the entirety of my adult life. I am now 50, and I still love it. If you've never been, The Diner is like Cheers, but for the breakfast crowd. It's been owned by the same family for sesames, it's crowded and noisy, and everybody knows your name (if you've been a couple of times.) They've won awards for their food. Guy Fieri has eaten there. A couple of other nationally syndicated shows have hound the place, also. It's just the quintessential "all American dining experience", and you won't regret it.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
What a fun a different spot! There is limited seating, but we didn't have to wait long. The breakfast tamale plate was amazing. But the biscuits and gravy were ordinary. All in all, worth the trip.
google avatar

Tasha W.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Staff is awesome my coffee was never empty. Ordered off the menu and it was a perfect brunch!
google avatar

Shelley H.

Yelp
Featured on Drive-In diners and dives. I've been here once before have the T-shirt, lol. It's a fun place. Professional, service fantastic. Everyone is treated like an old friend. Good karma soon as you walk through the door. Now, be careful it closes at 2:00. They serve breakfast and lunch. Good news if you get there before 2:00 you have the restaurant almost to yourself. The chili is award-winning comes with all the sides. Biscuits and gravy light and fluffy, homemade. Pancakes are thick but not rubbery or hard soft and fluffy. My blueberry pancakes were divine with real butter excellent huge jumbo blueberries inside. Blueberries cooked so the natural sugars just popped out of them. Not pictured is the chile relleno highly recommend I ate it quick. Didn't get a picture. Everything was delicious I've paid three times this and not gotten as good a meal. If you're ever in Norman Oklahoma make a special effort because not only is it affordable it's truly delicious.

Yelp
The Diner never disappoints. Great food Great price Friendly staff Large portions I work a few blocks away and it's always an easy yes from the whole shift when we order breakfast from the Diner. They prepare the meals correctly every time, always provide plasticware and condiments and the food is hot and ready when we pick it up. #911 We will continue to make The Diner our favorite place to order an excellent breakfast meal.
google avatar

Chuck L.

Yelp
I really love the diner. People are always friendly. I would have given 5 starts but the place is a bit small and crowded. That being said, I really loved the food, especially the huevos rancheros.I would highly recommend the Diner.
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
This was our first time to the Diner and it was a little early so it wasn't as busy as I have seen pictures of. My dad got the blueberry pancakes and I got the Sunday special of the Southwest Eggs Benedict. The blueberry pancakes were the best pancakes I e ever tasted. You didn't have to drown them in syrup to make them fast good, and they didn't turn to mush with the butter and syrup. The Southwest Eggs Benedict was hands down one of my most favorite breakfast dishes I've ever had. I could have licked the plate clean. The ham was perfect, not too salty and had a great flavor. The Hollandaise sauce was sooooooo good. The has browns nice and crispy and when the hollandaise sauce was mixed in, they were even better. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Penelope P.

Yelp
I graduated from OU 5 years ago. I used to go to the Diner multiple times per week while at school there. I STILL think about their Huevos Rancheros on a weekly basis. By far my favorite meal. Highly recommend The Diner. Everything is great, especially the huevos rancheros.

Jamie V.

Yelp
Just what you would expect for ambiance. We went for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Everyone loved their food. Great place
