Such a great local place to go for with friends and neighbors for some delicious food and fun drinks. Reservations are recommended and since we arrived for an early dinner, we had our choice of inside or outside. Outside is clearly the preferred choice. Like any outdoor dining in Florida though there are flies and mosquitos to contend with, however there are plenty of citronella candles and even insect repellant available as needed. We started with cocktails to celebrate a birthday. The happy hour menu and social media is a little confusing since they have not been updated to the current specials, but a discount on the new full alcohol specialty cocktails was available so we started with those. I ordered the "Flowers" which was gin, lavender, and rosemary. It was beautiful but so floral that I personally could not enjoy the fragrant concoction so passed it along to hubby and ordered a nice glass of wine from the impressive wine list. We wanted to try a variety of appetizers, so ordered the crab cake, the kung pao brussels sprouts, and a shrimp cocktail. Unlike the charcuterie boards meant to be shared, other than the brussels sprouts, the appetizers are more like a single serving. The crab cake was amazing, so packed with flavor and real crab meat, not fillers, and accompanied by a tasty, pretty, little salad. Those who tried one of the four large shrimp on the cocktail said they were delightful as well. The brussels sprouts were the only disappointing dish we tried. They were cold and dry and lacked flavor even with the small sauce on the side.
For entrees we ordered Grouper, the blackened salmon, the gumbo, and the filet mignon. Everything was prepared perfectly. Personally I have never had such an outstanding salmon dish anywhere. The flavors were spot on and the fish was moist and flawless. We all finished all of our entrees and moved on to dessert to celebrate the occasion. I had the creme brulee, another had the large bread pudding, and my hubby tried the brie cheesecake at the server's recommendation. The brie cheesecake lived up to the hype, more savory than sweet. We look forward to another occasion to visit the District.
