Off-Duty Cop Disarms Man With AR-15 Entering Suburban LA Bar - Eater LA

"An off duty police officer potentially prevented a deadly scene in Redlands over the weekend, as ABC7 reports that a man attempted to enter The District cocktail bar with an AR-15. A quick-moving employee grabbed the gunman from downstairs bar The Underground (the two establishments share an entrance), with an off-duty police officer stepping in moments later to help. The officer had been made aware of the gunman after customers in the parking lot said a man with an AR-15 had shown up and pointed the weapon at them because of an earlier argument. The man was subdued and arrested on charges of attempted assault with a deadly weapon. No one was hurt." - Farley Elliott

Had an amazing time hanging out with Green Day tribute band " American Idiots " got the crowd hyped and even helped me propose to my now fiance. I'll never forget this night and the people here who made it all possible. Steve the Venue purchaser was an awesome person and we're treated very well.

Yesterday, we visit some clubs in downtown but is so difficult to find a place with all the good elements. The dj that night was extraordinary, the mix was for a perfect night. We enjoyed so much with my friends ❤️

Google
Great little venue with excellent live sound. And they had Wyder's Pear Cider in cans at the bar!

Yelp
Our party was 40 minutes late for our reservation. They sat us at the table while waiting. We eventually had a great dinner, great service, always patient and pleasant. We ended up staying for 3 hours. We were never rushed or pressured at anytime. Our waitress was Ariana I think. She was wonderful and pleasant service was worth 6 stars.

Yelp
A hidden gem for sure. The vibes first walking in is very intimate and cozy, great ambiance for a date night or hanging with friends. Great staff that were so sweet & welcoming. You can tell they all enjoy working there. The drinks were refreshing and perfectly balanced (we got the lychee margarita and fever dream) They also gave us shots on the house which was a nice touch. We got the tuna tostada to start then shared the mushroom risotto and chorizo fennel mussels. All were so delicious, filling, and perfectly seasoned. We were so satisfied and would definitely come back again.

Yelp
I found this place quite by accident. I was actually on my way to Batter Rebellion when I ran into one of the co-owners of both restaurants. When he talked about The differences in menu between the two I decided to give it a try. Copehouse has a great bar menu. I ordered the tuna tacos served on wonton taco shells. They were delicious! My dish was a little sweet, a little spicy and 100% awesome. It surprised me! I didn't expect to like tuna tacos. Our server was helpful. The restaurant is more of a bar with a few extra tables than a restaurant with a large dedicated dining area. I have to use a wheelchair. If I knocked of any points it would be for limited accessibility. The building is old some corners are tight. The restroom is less than ideal but I made it in and out nevertheless. The food was good the happy hour prices were a nice treat. I will eat here again.

Yelp
A true gem of Redlands! The entrance is hidden, down the side street with cute colored umbrellas hanging overhead. My husband and I came across it unexpectedly and were so happy we picked it. The menu features upscale dishes and the environment inside is moody, perfect for date night or drinks with a small group of friends. For starters we got the Garlic Croquettes which were extremely rich and large (had to cut ourselves off so we didn't get too full). My husband also ordered the Electric Fell drink which is a fancy mojito with a bit of a twist. They recommend drinking some and then chewing on the Szechuan which activates your taste buds for a tingly feeling. Unique experience! For the main we had a Pork Shank dish which was totally to die for. The pork was extremely tender and fell right off the bone. I believe they rotate the items on their menu so I'm not sure if this is always available but it should be. By the time dessert rolled around we were too stuffed but still got a chocolate cake to go and enjoyed it heated up once we got home. Lastly, the waitress was very attentive to us all night and also gave us a heads up that the pork would take longer to make.

Yelp
Second time visiting. Wasn't too packed at first, but filled up as the night went on. We both ordered the steak and it was delicious! At one point, our last order of drinks took forever to come out, but it was one bartender and I'm sure everyone else was ordering drinks too. Our waitress was really sweet and it's has a cute ambiance to it. This time, we got seated in the main room, but it still felt very quaint.

Yelp
Before we arrived my friend attempted to reserve a table through open table and was unable to find the bar. I want to mention, this place is one my favorite bars in Redlands. Especially because there are no TVs and they play great music. I usually come here often but I've been busy. I haven't been here in 2 or 3 months. We'll tonight was my 1st night back and we arrived and was approached by Darren. She greeted us and said inside was for reservations only and we can be seated outside. It was cold this evening so we declined. The bar was empty mind you and seats at the bar were available but she did not offer that to us. She just walked away. 2 mins later we were greeted by another gentleman who was able to seat us a table for 2 and he also informed me that seating at the bar was available as well. Very strange. We continued our night the bar was still empty pretty much until 45 mins into our dinner. So I am not sure if they're hosting ghosts here? Or what reservations were they waiting on but the original service was not usual service I've received. Everything else for reminder of the night was great. Pesto pizza was amazing and the crust was cooked to perfection. I also had watermelon Paloma and it was delicious. I understand reservations are priority but if someone comes and sits us less than 5 mins later is strange. And I thought if someone is late more than certain time frame their reservations gets canceled. Maybe this is new system but the experience was strange.

Yelp
Good service and food. The plates are large portion and atmospher is welcoming dimmer atmosphere with few lighting.

Yelp
Bf and I dropped in here for a night cap, from the alley. It looked really interesting, so we gave it a try. What struck us most was how the decor really transports you. I felt like it was like being in Morocco or somewhere like that. Service was really great, Dare was really informative about the drinks and let us know there's brunch on Sundays too. She recommended "Electric Feel", which was something we had never tried. It's really fun and unusual, you drink the first have of the drink, it's sweet, then you eat the buzz button, and it changes the flavor. You gotta try it. I look forward to going again and trying the food!

Yelp
Loved it, they accommodated for gluten free. The hubs was a little disappointed that the Barramundi wasn't available, it was on the website menu, but not on the menu when we went. It's a cute place and friendly servers and the drinks were out of this world! We plan on going again maybe for brunch

Yelp
Great stop for a good eats, drinks & desserts. The entryway is right off the alley with patio seating. Inside does have the speakeasy vibes going with lighting easy on the eyes. Wonderful welcome and great service through our stay. Great mixologists. Nice menu options for any taste. Bar height seating or low top tables with extra seating towards the back room for a semi private space for large group. Parking available a block away along the downtown area or parking structures nearby.

Yelp
Their turbo granny drink was so cute but the place made me sick a little bit. it smells like throw up and wet socks inside. service was fast and good but that smell holy. idk

Yelp
The salty sesame seaweed snake. That's the drink I made. Loved it when I got it as my spirit animal. Returned recently and the bar apologized and told me they lost the recipe. Despite that, they were still able to recreate something very similar. The mixologist here is generally very skilled. Overall, great place for drinks. Chorizo fennel mussels. I've ordered this item 3 times now. First time, it tasted old/spoiled, but they were willing to take it off my bill. Second time, delicious. Perfect. Third time? Tasted like it was old again. I didn't have the heart to complain. But my conclusion is that this item is hit or miss. Amazing when fresh, but you just never know when it is. Ribeye steak is pretty good. Big enough for two, imo. I like this place for the decor and vibes. It's super cute. One of the downtown Redlands gems for sure.

Yelp
Located in the heart of the Orange Street Alley. You're greeted by the hostess outside who then seats you. The interior is cozy with a large part and then smaller sized tables around it. There are a couple large tables that are suitable for groups, one being the back room area. It's a loungey, somewhat dive bar, ecentric aesthetic. The ceiling was covered with christmas ornaments and lights bringing that holiday vibe. I was obsessed with the fringe chandeliers throughout the space! I want one of those in my future house. Cocktails are expertly crafted - $14 super fun to watch the bartenders go at it and he seemed very skilled. I tried the Wakey Wakey which was a breakfast cocktail. It tasted like a strong old fashioned but like fat-washed? The garnish was a nice-sized piece of bacon. They give you a shooter of fresh OG so you take a swig of the drink and sip on the OG to complete the experience. Tulip wings -$14 - came with 10 mini wings. Easy to eat with the meet pulled up on top and they are quite adorable. We got the buffalo flavor with a side of ranch. The buffalo is heavy on the vinegar. Our lips were def puckering up after a few bites. The ranch was 100% needed to cut that sourness. I would consider trying a different flavor next time. Main we chose the Ribeye steak $42 - which was a good size, shareable for 2 people. It was cooked medium/medium rare but was still pretty tender. We chose the seasonal vegetables for the side which was sauteed broccolini which we really liked. The spread also came with 3 different butters which was very enticing. In this rendition the butters were Italian, Dill Shallot, and Red Wine Thyme. Our favorite was hands down the dill shallot. Would recommend this spot!

Yelp
I came this morning and unfortunately had a bad experience. I ordered a side of pesto, and it turned out to contain almonds--something no one mentioned when ordering. Allergies are serious, and staff should always ask or at least inform guests about potential allergens in sauces like that. After realizing I was having an allergic reaction, we let our server know right away. However, it took a long time for them to bring the bill, even after I explained I wasn't feeling well. Nothing was done to help the situation, and they didn't comp or adjust the meal despite what happened. I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of urgency and care when I mentioned an allergic reaction was really disappointing. I hope management takes this seriously and trains staff to handle allergy situations more carefully in the future.

Yelp
I made a reservation for 11:15am. Their hours are stated that they open at 11:00am. I even received 2 reminders of said reservation. I showed up at 11:10 and they were closed. Hours should be updated and reservation system should also be updated if they aren't open those hours.

Yelp
Walking to the restaurant was super cute going through the alley with all the umbrellas and the restaurant itself was so cute, very aesthetic! We got seated outside with the heater lamp and love how quick it was! The food delicious! We ordered few items that were recommended on here. Also, the menu online is different, some of the items are not on there. We had the tulip wings, mushroom pizza and the croquette as shareable and my husband and son got the Wagu Burger which was amazingly flavored! I will definitely come back here!
google avatar

Reanna S.

Yelp
first time sitting inside! Cute dim light, retro themed restaurant. Came in for brunch and had the perfect combination of breakfast and lunch. Wagyu burger was tender with all the perfect toppings. Matcha zen was hands down one of the best cocktails I have ever tried! Hint of floral, but can't even taste the alcohol. Fast service and overall would come again.
google avatar

LaRee T.

Yelp
Finding this little gem in Redlands may prove to be a little hard. But just follow the colorful umbrellas down the alleyway. Copehouse is very dark even in the day time, but the ambiance is still inviting. Our lovely waitress Kelsey was amazing and attentive to our needs. The food was absolutely delicious. I'm not a French toast kind of girl, but I did decide to be brave and try it out. I was NOT disappointed AT ALL. It was all parts buttery, cinnamony, and every part delectable. I'll definitely be back to try the Mimosas and another wonderful dish.
google avatar

Valerie R.

Yelp
Walked in and was seated immediately! Loved the service! The waitress was so friendly and the food was beyond amazing!! The ambiance of the place was nice! Cool decor with candles on every table. The drinks were also delicious. The bartender even gave us complimentary birthday shots! I'm glad we found this place. Will definitely be going back
google avatar

Frank B.

Yelp
We stopped here for a drink and quick bite. The Old Fashion was pretty good but could use a little more bourbon. the Blueberry and Banana drinks were great and a must try. The burger was also good. What stood out here was really the service. Although the inside is a little dark with low lightening you were not forgotten. Every employee that passed by us asked if we needed anything else. Again great to feel like you're seen no matter how busy it gets in a restaurant.
google avatar

Dean J.

Yelp
Great vibe, friendly service, good food..... but out of 2 things we ordered on the menu with no substitutions.
google avatar

Tea T.

Yelp
This place is beautiful for date night or double date. If you're into dark decor & a speakeasy type of vibe you'll love this place. They have seating outside too which us very imitate too. We went during happy hour. The food, drinks, and prices were good. I had the brussel sprouts which had a sweet sauce & sesame seeds on it. The burger was ok. I forgot the name of it but it had onion rings & bacon on it. We asked for the meat to be cooked medium but it was over cooked and somewhat dry. There was no sauce on the burgers either. The fries were delicious. The staff were friendly and we were seated quickly. Our waitress kept forgetting to bring us things we asked for. We were having a date so there was no rush. Overall I really like this place and want to give it another try even though the burgers weren't great. We'll try something else.
google avatar

Yelp
This review is strictly reheated to Sunday Brunch as that's the only meal I've eaten here. I wanted to eat outside in the alley under the colorful umbrellas, so chose this restaurant. I was a little surprised that we were the only guests at this restaurant sitting outside on a lovely day in Redlands, which should have been a clue that my expectations needed to be lower. The brunch menu here is VERY limited while also being very pricey for the meager portions and quality. We told our server that we were were STARVING and asked her for her suggestions and favorite dishes. She suggested the bisquits and gravy and the chorizo skillet. We went with that. We ordered mimosas and asked for any other type of juice, since my guest is allergic to orange juice. Nope, they only offered orange juice, which I found odd for a place with a full bar. Our coffees came out with an extra coffee cup stuffed with Sweet & Low packets and 2 little pods of creamers for two people. We didn't see our server (or any other staff member for that matter) for 10 minutes, to ask for real sugar and more cream to put in our now-cold coffee. Want a refill? Good luck. That was never offered. It took a very long time for the food to arrive. Paid $11.50 for ONE small, dry, burnt biscuit with not enough gravy and one little sausage link that was cut in half lengthwise..... The Gravy was tasty, but the bisquit was burned on the bottom and very dry, and there wasn't enough gravy to help that situation. Had to wait a long time for our server to come back around to check on us and by then, everything else was cold. This place was a total disappointment.

Yelp
Love this place. I have been here 4 times in a span of 6 months. All hits, no misses so far. There's a smoked salmon dish and white chocolate toast dish I didn't capture. The toast is VERY sweet perfect for sweet lovers. I prefer the toast with chicken. It's a sweet and savoury balance. The chicken pesto was amazing. Focaccia bread is the best for sandwiches. The smoked salmon had a taste I couldn't quite stand. The ambience is really nice and the alley decorated with umbrellas adds some zest to the place
google avatar

Nadine M.

Yelp
Food, service, ambiance, all of it was amazing. First time there and didn't know what to order, the waitress suggested the salmon tartine and it was delicious. The drinks were so good as well, thank you brunch time bartender!
google avatar

Isabel V.

Yelp
Very chill intimate spot with great drinks and a cute patio in the umbrella alley. Fun to come with friends or even to sit at the bar, the bartenders here are super friendly and always down to make a spirit animal.
google avatar

Yelp
I always like to try all the restaurants around Downtown Redlands and this one looked very unique and as such it was. Located down a quaint alleyway decorated by murals and umbrellas. We had a reservation but elected to sit at the bar instead. The young lady who sat us was friendly enough, but service was a bit slow in being acknowledged but the drinks we ordered were very good. I recommend the love on the brain cocktail. I had ordered the pizza which was good, just not great but my husband ordered the lamb which was unbelievably good; wish I ordered the same. We decided to get more drinks elsewhere because service was not very friendly or attentive. the atmosphere was very cool, just didn't really feel welcomed.
google avatar

Leah D.

Yelp
What a cute spot for brunch! This spot gets pretty crowded on a weekend during brunch time, so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. We waited about 30 min around noon before getting seated. The umbrella alley is so beautiful, and the interior of the restaurant is very chic. The pricing is a bit high for what you get, but the food and flavors were on point. Garlic Parmesan fries were crispy and well seasoned. I don't recommend getting the trio fries, as the trio is of sauces (and none were amazing). The lemon ricotta French toast was super fluffy and didn't feel too heavy or sweet, which was a plus.
google avatar

Amanjot K.

Yelp
The board with the butters was sooo good! The food overall was decent. The service was a bitch strange, pretty sure our server was drunk and had no idea what he was doing so he kept repeating things. Overall it was busy here and there is an inside and outside.

Taryn N.

Yelp
Great food, service, and drinks! Love the ambience and overall vibe. Would definitely go again.
google avatar

Martha R.

Yelp
It's so stylish and fancy, yet cozy?! The service is excellent, the food was delish we had artichoke dip with tortilla chips Also a pizza And a few drinks The watermelon Paloma was soo yummy! My friend had a expresso martini , it looked and smelled fresh and yummy I talked to the bartender on how he prepared it, and it was made right with quality organic ingredients, boiling cinnamon sticks with sugar etc. We'll be back!
google avatar

Kallie M.

Yelp
I have been going to this place since I was little and the service they have there is really nice. Everyone there is so friendly and amazing at their job. The food there is divine and to die for. Their bathrooms are clean and The soap smells good. It's always so good there.

Digvijay S.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with friends and highly enjoyed it. It was a great experience from start to finish. Love the decor outside in the alley leading up to the restaurant. Great vibe with music in the background. They had a great selection of drinks, and my favorite was the old fashioned which was made to perfection. Ordered the pizza, which came with an egg on top. The bell peppers were fresh and delicious. Service was excellent as the staff was very friendly.
google avatar

Carolina S.

Yelp
Very cute restaurant. Warm, friendly crew with a warm and friendly welcome. Drinks lovely and food we ordered was delicious! I had the chicken caesars salad. The chicken was tender and a generous portion with a light crisp coating. My friend got the arugula salad. Well presented and delicious. Bottomless mimosas and pricing was reasonable. Great brunch. The street decorated with umbrellas, brick buildings is like Europe. So enchanting. Will go again for dinner next time. Recommend.

Yelp
No one picks up the phone. I've tried calling almost every day for two weeks to get a hold of someone to get a reservation but to no avail.

Loiva S.

Yelp
First I want to start off with I love the food here, the steak board is just always cooked to my perfection. Literally the reason I come here, the fries are always crispy as I like them, the drinks are to My liking as well, sweet and strong, the shots we was offered tonight were just on point! The only downside is the service at least tonight it was until Ben showed up! We walked in and were seated and told our waiter would attend to us, we waited I can say like an hour or so for anyone to acknowledge us at all. The girl who sat us never went to ask if we needed anything and the other employee would just walk right by us not even turning his head to look at us, as if they pick and choose who they attend. Everyone would just walk in and out and it was like we wasn't even there, kinda disappointing, and then Ben showed up and asked what we wanted to drink, which I did express to him how we had been waiting there forever and if he was going to take our order because I know he's usually behind the bar. Which he did, he checked on us here and there and was just overall amazing as our server, and honestly I give it two stars one for Ben and one for the food. But as someone who has worked in food/customer service for sure some employees need more training in the key elements in good food/customer service overall for the clients to have an overall good positive experience overall.

Yelp
Went on a Friday night and surprisingly got sat pretty quickly. Places semi small from what we seen. We shared an appetizer pretty small portion, but left both of us. Satisfied server was great and very informative. Had great recommendations. The drinks were really good maybe a little too sweet. The atmosphere was definitely laid-back. Perfect for a date. I would definitely come back 8.5/10 recommend.

Yelp
Omg. Hidden Gem. This place has quality drinks that are artfully made with fresh ingredients. If you want a gross dive bar, with cheap drinks- go somewhere else! This place is for sipping amazing drinks and the prices are not expensive either- way worth your spend. Delicious food as well too! Was so happy we ended up at this place.

Yelp
I had a wonderful first time at this place. The food, service, and ambiance were all great. Austin, the bartender, was very attentive and recommended some fantastic drinks. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
HELL NO!!! Because I made reservations online... through the app Copehouse had attached to their website. We all showed up and THEY WERE CLOSED ON A TUESDAY EVENING!!!

Caesar N.

Yelp
The bartender was excellent! He listened to my request and suggested the best drink for me. The lamb was tender and very tasty.

Yelp
Amazing as always. Thank you for the staff. The food is amazing Love this place Champagne is the best deal with pineapple juice Enjoy everyone!!!!!!

Yelp
A Perfect Spot for a Memorable Evening. Copehouse Redlands is a restaurant that never fails to impress. I've always recommended this place for its romantic, moody, yet fun atmosphere that carries a classy bar vibe. The mixologists here are top-notch, crafting excellent mixed drinks and cocktails that are sure to please any palate. Great service. The food is nothing short of amazing, with the burgers and truffle fries standing out as particular highlights. The quality is gourmet, and every dish is prepared to perfection. Whether you're looking for a great date spot or a place to celebrate, Copehouse Redlands is the perfect choice.

Cindy O.

Yelp
Excellent service! The food was delicious and the staff made my graduation party a memorable experience!!!

Yelp
Unfortunately I have finally decided to post a negative review about what used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Redlands. We visited last Friday 2/21 and had a very poor experience. On the positive side, our food was very good. We had the steak board and the chicken confit. The steak was perfectly cooked as was the chicken and the sides that accompanied both. The reason for the poor review is service. This is now the fourth time in a row we have had terrible service. This experience took well over 2 hours to finish our outing due to slow service. On top of that, our waiter was very clearly on coke or speed as he was visibly impaired as everyone at our table noticed. He seemed annoyed with any question that was asked. To top it off, when he brought out our check, he brought an unitemized bill with zero detail. I asked him to bring an itemized bill, which he did produce. After inspecting, he had added 20% gratuity to our party of 6 and that was absolutely not disclosed on the first bill he gave us. Extremely shady. Another knock is they no longer have the burnt cedar rose drink they used to have, which we loved. Unfortunately the horrible service is just no longer acceptable. Coincidentally, I spoke to someone at my gym the next day who said they went to Cope that same Friday night and also had terrible service.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while out shopping and couldn't have been more pleased. We sat at the bar and I loved the decor. Plus, the service was amazing! I got the Wagyu burger (bartender rec) and it was phenomenal

Yelp
Best service, such a great environment, Austin and Jay had the best service give them a raise !!!

Yelp
Have been here many times. Went there today with my wife to have lunch before seeing a movie. First, we ordered the bottomless mimosas. 9 bucks each for 90 minutes, an awesome deal. I had a Cubano sandwich, maybe the best I have ever had outside of South Florida. The homemade potato chips are outstanding. My wife had a very large and tasty arugula salad. Great service and very cool atmosphere.

Yelp
Ok Couse, first time visitor. Friday night before Halloween. We were greeted by an angel working the front we walked by it first to check out a couple other places around the block, but ended up coming back to the Angel. Walking in it feels very welcoming almost like you enter someone's house. We were seated in the back room past the bar. It was a small two top table. We liked it but did witness many people leaving because it seem like they didn't like that back room. Our waitress came up to us and gave us some menus and asked for a drink order. We ended up getting a beer and the spicy shrimp. That shit is spicy overall it was a good experience. I'd like to go again and just chill.
