The Best Dive Bars in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Open 24 hours, the Dive Bar carries the trifecta of dive bar beers: Hamm’s, Olympia, and PBR. This dark, dingy bar features sticky floors, loud music, and Las Vegas Raiders football near UNLV. Just don’t get lost in the bathroom reading all the stickers and graffiti." - Janna Karel

The girl at the barn was taking more shots than half her customers. Then was is trying to charge off a receipt that already was supposed to be on tap. The roach on the counters had more more shots than I did, I'm going to be the waitress that was there did . I love the atmosphere but the female bartender was shity because she was taking shots so much she didn't even pay attention to who was paying her.

Google
-- We are nice people and tip well, so the bartenders treated us ok, but all the bartenders, except Mat, treated people terribly. It's like the bartenders hate their job and hate customers even more. The band was good and the crowd was fun. Cool little place.

The Dive Bar is like the iconic CBGB’s in the punk rock days in New York. My son was going there to see wrestling and kept showing me what he filmed and to be honest it looked silly then I went with him. I’m 55 years old and felt like I was 25 again and can’t remember the last time I had that much fun. The night started with a very good rock band then they had two go go dancers come out and dance for tips. Then the wrestling was off the hook where the guys were wrestling at your feet which was awesome. Everyone was super friendly and drinks were super reasonable. I can’t say enough good things about the Dive Bar it’s sa must go for fun.

I really enjoyed The Dive Bar. My whole family loved their meals. I got the Danni burger and the wife got the turkey burger. 10/10

Google
Some staff were friendly. Takes forever to put in a drink order. A waitress made eye contact with me while I was waiting to order a drink, and she continues to clean then take an order from a guy who was there after me. The blonde waitress came over a minute later and took my order.

Google
If you are punk/goth/hip hop or just enjoy being around this awesome atmosphere, then this is the place. I love this place because it reminds me of San Francisco in the early 2000s. Bartenders are gorgeous with awesome service, and the price is right. The best part of this awesome place is that they have gest DJs and live bands play. Don't pass up this gem.

Google
Small. Great place to see a band . Music is on the hard edge side. Saw the Queers tonight. Had a good time. Spur of the moment kind of thing. I would definitely come back. Looking for a punk type bar. This will pretty much be your place B.t.w. $6 for a decent well vodka screwdriver after the show

Google
I don't think they have food here. It was my first time. Watch 3 bands play. Had a drink. They bartender was super nice. I will go again!

Yelp
Las Vegas has some of the best dive bars in the country. I'm talking graffit everywhere, grimy but not dirty, usually a pool table and some broken signs. The dive bar is one of the 3 best along with the double down and the stage door which is 100% not a money laundering operation at all. Not even a little bit. Don't even know why you would suggest it honestly. If you like true dive bars you'll love it. If you don't love I am inclined to believe you are not a true dive bar head.

Yelp
We attended a very poor attempt at a kink/goth/industrial night here last night. The bartender had absolutely no idea what she was doing and was very rude about it, made my girl feel like she was bothering her because she asked to use contactless payment. There was an advertised "playspace" that was non-existent. There was a really sloppy lingerie / burlesque show, then when we actually did start playing, we were asked by the management to stop (after a crowd gathered around us in awe) after we stop, then we are approached by management again and told we could play again. Instead we packed up our bags and left as quickly as possible down the street to karaoke and had a great time. We will never be back. Calling this place a Dive Bar is an overstatement. A complete waste of a $15 cover per head, and the early start of our evening.

Yelp
If you love Dive bars you will love this place it's the best Dive bar I have ever been to. Pretty Bartenders great vibe and plenty of live music. One thing I really love is that they support local bands and musicians.

Yelp

Yelp
Service was continual. Ambiance nostalgic, dive , trashy chic. Some real old time bar flies to engage in conversation. Don't remember the food or if there was food, probably as a result of the great drink service
google avatar

Yelp
Vegas dive bar with some great music and cheap drinks. Check it out sometime! Music is about 7 days a week and all kinds of rock metal and punk. Glad to see them back in action!
google avatar

Mikki P.

Yelp
Love this place! Cool people and affordable drinks. Came on a slower night with no live music but I'll be back to check out a show soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Fuck Ya!! Awesome!! Music Kicked Ass!! Friendly Staff! Bartenders were cool and friendly

Yelp
I hate this service. Advertising opened at 11am and it's almost 1pm and it's all locked up. I ordered my food online and it said pick up between 12:25-12:35pm. There is loud music inside so I know there is workers. I keep pushing the door bell it obviously can't be herd with the music or this place is so cheap they can't afford the door bell to work. I paid online and no one answers the phone and I can't get my money back. Never get food from here. Lies after lies. Definitely false advertisement
google avatar

Cyndi D.

Yelp
Great place to disappear for a while! Loud music and friendly bartender. What more do you need?

Yelp
The Dive Bar is just that. It for sure is one of the cheapest bars in the city. Much better than anything on the Strip. It often has live acts. There's a cover at nights usually. It has a good happy hour. Wells are about $2 each. You can't find better deals anywhere in Vegas. It may be cheap because they don't spend much on electricity. The place is hard to see inside because there's almost no lights on. As someone mentioned, there's an Elvis lamp behind the bar. The bartenders and employees are low key and not trying to impress you. This is a favorite place for locals. It's far away from the Strip so there's hardly any tourists here. This is a good way to get to know about the local music scene.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of performing here with my outta state band recently. "Dive Bar" is what it is and that's what I like. Great music, great staff, great food. Not the typical Vegas spot but that's not what I like. Hopefully we'll be back soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Julie is a good bartender. One of the only places it is encouraged to play punk and metal.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong, this place is a dump. But if you like live music played way too loud on a small indoor stage, bathrooms with more stickers and graffiti than paper products, badass bartender babes, offbeat regulars and randoms, 1998 vintage video poker, shooting pool while drinking PBR tallboys for $3, I guess you are in luck.

M. B.

Yelp
We finally stopped in on a Saturday night. Very good vibe. Lots of bikers and leather. They also had live music. Speed metal. Was loud and powerful. Drinks were reasonable. $6 for a shot of whiskey. Not too smoky. Just a classic dive bar in the middle of a strip mall. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
While visiting Vegas my BF stumbled upon The Dive Bar while searching for a dive bar nearby. We had the whole family with us so we figured why not after seeing the 16oz PBR's for $3 all day everyday. We were all killing time until the night time shows we were planning to see on the Strip. The Dive Bar is probably the darkest bar I have ever been to and if you know me you know that is a compliment. The only real light here is the cute vintage Elvis bust lamp located behind the bar in the front. Stage lights are also another light source too. Plenty of room to get down here and all high top tables and bar space for us to sit around and drink. We were lucky as the waitress shared with us that Budlight was $2 on draft. After 5 rounds we decided we should walk around the shopping center which I highly suggest. There is a cool comic book store, a local punk/rock shop, a liquor store, and a few places to stop in and get a bite to eat. Shoutout to the waitress we visited 2x while we stayed in Vegas and visited The Dive Bar. You were so kind to us and even after my father was only tipping you a couple of dollars after each round and we followed behind him shoveling you another $5 here and there to cover for his cheapskate-ness :) Appreciate the kindness, understanding, and charm. You are the best!

Yelp
A friend invited me to the dive bar to be Entertained by a Comedy Show . To my surprise it was a show featuring all of the comics in their skivvies. That's correct they all performed in their underwear or underwear and bra. I was not expecting this but as the comedian reached the stage, it reminded me of seeing a train possibly colliding and could not turn away. The performance featured about six comedians tighting their craft. In my mind it became a game for me to guest what style the men would be wearing in particular. Do you know boxers or briefs type of thing. Cracking myself up at the end results. Just watching them peel their clothing off was just as entertaining as the jokes that they performed which actually were quite funny. The name dive bar really suits this place. It's old dark and smoky smoky smoky. I don't believe they have any ventilation at all as it took two days of washing my hair to get the smoke out. That was really the only downside to the place. Parking is ample there's a bouncer at the door. The night that I went no one got out of line or was disorderly. I really enjoyed the show a lot and my friend did too so much so that he's going to attempt it next week because they have amateur night. I will definitely go to support my friend but due to the heavy amount of smoke I probably won't return.

Yelp
I have always loved a good dive bar. This one ticks a lot of those boxes. Dingy bathroom? Check. Decent basic drinks? Check. And the praise ends there. The bartender seems to think that it's charming to be antagonistic. Some people really pull that off. She does not. My girlfriend and I had to hang out with some random chick all night because some dude there was being way too creepy with her. Told the staff. No one cared. Sure, I don't know any of these people. Hard to make a bad review based on that. My main gripe is that if you're going to a show there, better have the next three days off work. Doors are at 8? If the headliner that you laid to see is on stage before 1am count yourself lucky. It's to the point that if I see a band that I really want to see is booked there, I'm chalking that one up to a miss. Too many times I've bought tickets to a show that I was excited about only to finally leave around midnight only having seen one supporting band, because that's as far as they've gotten in the lineup. Las Vegas is a 24 hour city, but some of us aren't looking for the headliner that we paid to see not take the stage until 5 hours after doors. I've been to way too many good dive bar venues that can at least put on a good and timely show to give another chance to Dive.

Yelp
Went to The Dive Bar with my cuz. Great place to go for a dive bar (hence the name). Super cheap beer and a great atmosphere. Every time I come to Vegas (once a year) I always stop out since it reminds me of a bar I was a regular at before it closed down. Friendly staff and quick service. Do miss the live music but hope 2021 can bring it back.

Yelp
Las Vegas, Nevada --- Day 98 "DUSA Tour 2016" ... bar 2 of 4 tries (2 closed for business) ... "The Dive Bar" IS everything a dive bar should be bartender Stephanie was nice and gave me "Rusty Spur" as hand-off bar ... blonde hottie "woman" was a delight that I am glad I did not miss, but "also" escaped they have Hamm's, Olympia, & PBR beer in cans "Run-A-Way Bill" was here! 07.19.16 "National Dive Bar Day" award winner 07.07.18

Yelp
Exactly what you would expect - nothing more, nothing less. Stopped in for a quick drink, or two, or three. Ask for Amelia.

Yelp
Vegas takes care of their gamblers, well at least they used to. I walked into the Dive Bar, a place I know well, but as Favorites, the bar It used to be called. I sat down and changed a $20, played the $20, lost the $20, and so I got up to leave. I had realized I was being stared at the whole time, but then I was about to hear why. The bartender who had served me one drink, although she had to google how to make a Greyhound, had been keeping tabs on my gambling expenditure and told me I had only gambled $12, and then told me I had a tab. Most places in Vegas just serve drinks without knit-picking the gambler, others say a drink per $10, others $20. I ended up having to pay for 2 drinks when I only had one. Bartenders need to tell someone up front what they comp and for how much spent , not at the end when the gambler had lost all their money. The machines sucked , the music was ear splitting tasteless crap being played off of the bartenders phone so no one could use the juke box, and I'm an old punk rocker and nothing splits my ear. It is a clicky little hole of a dump so bring hand sanitizer and a pillow for your seat as mine was quite chaffed by the ripped cheap vinyl.

Yelp
I went to see a show. It's a cool venue. The bartenders were cool. The name says it all "The Dive Bar". The taco's outside were very good.
google avatar

Yelp
Come here for the music that's about it. This place hosts really good punk music nights and they bring in many well known bands. The stage is super small and it gets super smoky here. This is one of the smokiest bars in Vegas. I felt that the drinks were expensive for the venue. I paid 7 dollars for a single Jameson on the the rocks and it was under poured each time. Bartenders weren't that cool and super slow.

Feliz A.

Yelp
Great venue and plenty of parking. 3 Bad Jacks were awesome. Too bad they didn't have any gear gear my size. Had a great time and made new friends.
google avatar

Kimberly K.

Yelp
Fun dive bar that has stand up comedy on Monday nights around 8:30pm. No cover charge so come in and sign up and get your 4 minutes of fame on stage. Doesn't matter if you're funny or not the audience will still clap. The bartenders here are friendly and the drinks are cheap. $5 for a vodka soda and it's strong. It's dark inside and pretty smoky (which is more the norm in Vegas). It was my first time up here and felt welcomed right away. Cheap entertainment only 10 minutes from the Strip!

Anthony t.

Yelp
Lives up to it's name. Total shithole. But $3 all day 16oz. PBR's and great bands, I'm there. Tired of paying $6 to $8 for a domestic draft. RIDICULOUS!!!!
google avatar

Ravi K.

Yelp
Hella rude and blunt staff...the 1st time I was here told the bartender wanted to split the bill with a friend and told her ahead of time, the bitch proceeded to give me a speech, essentially ending it with how much easier it was for her to put it on 1 tab. Her unprofessional self then proceeded to take 1 of my fries without asking earlier in the night when we were in conversation and I had ordered fries. Just today, the bartender told me it was happy hour. I was like Great. A few minutes later, tried to ask her what time happy hour was everyday? She cut me off before I could finish what I was trying to say and said it's over at 8 pm today.

Carol P.

Yelp
Great bands with live music and cheap drinks but...horrible service. The man at the door was so high he couldn't properly see my ID. Bartender inside not only told me she was wasted but couldn't stand or remember who to give change back to. The other bartender only served her friends and no one else at the bar. There was no eye contact with customers to let them you would eventually wait on them. Drinks were cheap but they took over 30 minutes to get. Longest 30 minutes I had to spend waving my arms to get attention while being ignored. She forgot to bring back my change for the coke I ordered. The most expensive $10 coke I've ever ordered. Horrible service!!
google avatar

Chris A.

Yelp
Omg 4pm on a Sat we were only inside for 30 min. I barely got service for 2 16oz cans of PBR. As we got there the band was bringing amps in thru the front door, as we were there 2 fights broke out and 2 people got kicked out, 1st for being too drunk, the 2nd I overheard as I was leaving so not sure why. Yes this was during the day, can you imagine what happens at night? I don't know either but cant wait to come back to find out!!

Yelp
Ah, The Dive Bar. You know...I didn't like coming to this bar until about 2 years ago...my best friend started hosting Karate Karaoke there...I started going to support him, and met some really cool, great people. Now..this place is my second home. The staff are not just staff...they're family. The regulars too, y'all are family and are stuck with me. Every member of the staff are great bartenders. Hell, I can even get a fancy Chocolate Pretzle Martini here...not typical of a "dive bar". Great prices on drinks, heavy pours, and great entertainment. I've seen a ton of great bands here, local and otherwise, that are really super cool people and good musicians as well. If you're looking for a place to meet really cool people, this is the place. if you're looking for a place to drink and disappear, this is the place. So come on down! Bring a marker and leave your mark on the graffitied up bathrooms! Have a drink, have a chat, and listen to some good music.

Pat D.

Yelp
Worst bar in Vegas...new security suck as does the new sound guy.used to be a great place to see bands.not anymore.
google avatar

Kellie E.

Yelp
Cheap PBR ... well really PBR-themed everything! Super fair prices on whiskey too. Pretty sure we saw ZZ Top and Uncle Fester in the same night. Glorious little dive bar and a great way to end a Vegas night
google avatar

Yelp
A true Dive Bar!!! This cool dump has some of the best music in town! Last night was my 1st time at this new location since they moved aprox 2 + ago! Great sound system, $3 pbr cans and you can open a tab with your credit or debit card! Heavy Metal Maniacs will love this place! Bands from all over play here!! We will be back evwn tho there is a cover at the door it is well worth it!!!! Smoking ok inside and there is no food served.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Great place exactly what I was looking for. Good size, friendly staff, pretty divey but not "fear for your life" dive like. Plenty of tvs, games, atmosphere. The Elvis shade lamp sold me. Definitely worth hanging out at.

Dee H.

Yelp
This place is an absolute joke. Went there to see Next to None a few months back and it was advertised to start at 9pm. Got there around 830 and was told the show won't start until a football game is over. Show ended up starting at 11pm and when I left around 1:30am the headliner hadn't even gone on yet. I was the only person gambling in the whole bar, and when I asked for a water, they pointed me to a bucket with dixie cups. Seriously? No wonder nobody else was playing. The kicker to all this is The Dive Bar admittedly gives zero shits if you don't like the way they run their business. Check out the screen shot from their Facebook page! Seriously, stay away from this place. Promoters should definitely not book any credible bands here. This place is for shitty high school punk bands and that's about it.
google avatar

Peter S.

Yelp
I WON'T JUDGE THIS PLACE TOO HARSHLY just because it's not my scene. Went there with a friend who loves it. Dark, dingy, loud. It is, after all, called The Dive Bar. Truth in advertising indeed. Drunk, loud people. Just not my idea of fun or the right crowd. Again, not my scene, not my people, not my vibe. Personally for me, a 1 star - I couldn't get out of there quick enough. For everyone else who appeared to be having fun, 5 stars. Averages out to 3.
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
Been coming to the Dive since January of 2014. Angie and Gravy are HANDS DOWN 2 of the coolest bartenders in Vegas! Seen a lot of great shows and made a lot of great friends in my almost 5 years of visiting the Dive
google avatar

Cassandra B.

Yelp
I came here for a Jungle Rot concert and was not disappointed. The Dive Bar lives up to its namesake. If not for the overwhelming stench of cigarette smoke that literally left me coughing, smelling like an ash tray, and made my eyes burn this would have been a 5 star review. Reasons why I love this bar: #1 Cheap drinks! $3 PBRs and $4 Vodka Crans. #2 The concert "stage" lets fans get up close and personal with the band. #3 The bathrooms are hilarious. They're plastered with vulgarities and nonsense, but they were clean at least (Although there weren't any toilet seat covers...). #4 They play Cannibal Corpse. C'mon, it doesn't get any cooler than that. FUN FACT: The Dive Bar was on Bar Rescue! Someone please tell me what episode this is on. The Dive Bar is located right across from UNLV. If I lived on-campus, you bet your ass I'd be there all the time. GOOD TO KNOW: There is no security here. It's every man for himself. There were a few fights that almost broke out, but the crowd did a good job at breaking things up. The mosh pit got kind of crazy. A tiny girl got blind-sighted sitting at a table near the back of the bar, was thrown out of her chair, and ended up getting a concussion. Geez. Worth a Return Visit? I wish Dive Bar was closer! It's a bit of a Trek from my usual hang out spots. I'd always be down to see a concert there, though. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2015: #164

Yelp
It's the dumpy dive you wish you had near your home! Live crusty music, strong drinks and people your mom warned you about. Antonia was the best! Super friendly and pointed us tourists to all the go to places in town. Avoid the tourist traps on the strip and come hang with Vegas folk!
google avatar

Joey B.

Yelp
This is only for the bartender working around 3pm on fridays. I've been sitting here for 20 mins and she still hasn't come to serve me 1 beer. I came in last week and she did the same thing. When I come in on Tuesdays and Wednesday's I'm served immediately and no it's not busy in here at all right now.
google avatar

Thomas A.

Yelp
I recently moved nearby, my first night out here.Drunken passed out Punk out front. People openly snorting bumps of an unknown substance inside. Dirtbag Punks openly displaying weapons on dance floor.A large pack of Drunken young punk/goth women raising hell and spraying beer everywhere(one even got up on stage and pissed in the singers mouth). For the young and young at heart.
google avatar

Micah L.

Yelp
If crappy is cool than why aren't 3rd World countries flooded with hipsters?, I went to this spot because a band I liked was playing (smile empty soul) The plaza it's located in is shady. They took the name and literally applied it. The crowd that night was a mix of hipster douche, along with frat boy mc douchenstein . There's a pretty cute bartender among the gargoyles. Drinks are fairly cheap service was kinda slow even though they weren't busy. It's a relatively small space so when it gets crowded it's kinda shoulder to shoulder. The PA system was pretty good. The set changes were pretty quick. I probably wouldn't frequent this joint unless there was an event i really admired going on.
google avatar

Stanley T.

Yelp
I went here to see a band and accidentally found my new favorite bar. It's mostly because of the staff, one bartender especially... Angie! Sooo HOT!
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Wife & I went here on a Wednesday afternoon. Bartender was very nice. I asked if I could start a tab & she said sure. Wife had a cocktail & I ordered a Bud Light. She said they were out of BL because they had a busy weekend so I took a Miller lite. After she served us our drinks & took my card, she came back & said that her manager was there & that I could not run a tab. Very STRANGE & WEIRD, but okay, whatever. I tabbed out after the 1st round & we went on down the road to Champagne's.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
It was a slow night or did I get here too late? Either way it did not matter. The minute I walked into this joint I felt at home. Slightly clean and somewhat dirty..... Which I like. Prices are great and the bartender is friendly. I can see a $100 bill lasting here without a problem. Make sure you stop in if your into the punk/ metal scene. It's worth your while.

Yelp
I wandered into Dive Bar on a Friday night because I had a friend playing a gig here. I literally felt like I stepped into a time machine and was transported back to the 1990s. So much leather, jean vests, plenty of dark eyeliner, tattoos galore, and a lot of dark, dark colors on the patrons, and yes folk, I witnessed Doc Martins. In a bright summer floral sun dress, I stuck out like a sore thumb. I usually don't frequent watering holes. I enjoy dancing and getting dolled up. If I do go to a bar, I don't like them too loud, especially when I have stellar company and want to carry on a conversation. The place isn't rather large. There is a huge bar in the back with seats all around it. There are several hi-top tables (like maybe 6) in front of the stage set up. Not a lot of seating and definitely not good for large groups. The place is smokey, which I expect in dive bars. The drink prices were reasonable. $4 for a vodka-cran is great. The place was loud. So loud that a friend shouting in my ear and I still couldn't hear here. For shows, there is no need for music to be that loud! I was not into the bands these evening, one was rockabilly, the others were more punk rock. Just not my style or mood for the evening. Lack of seating, a very specific type of patron, overly smokey, bathrooms with graffiti on them (the ladies toilet seat, yes the SEAT!, said "C--T DROPPINGS HERE), overly loud, blaring music, and cheap drinks make this a very, very, very stereotypical dive bar. This place is nothing special and I could not wait to get the hell out of here. Thank goodness for cheap drinks and friendly, attentive bar staff are the only reason it's not a complete one star. I won't be diving in to Dive Bar again... EVER.
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
I've been in the Dive bar a few times. Good food and cheap drinks! It's hit or miss on weather any bands are playing. I stopped by last Friday night around 10 pm and there was only about 6 people sitting at the bar and no bands were playing on stage, on a Friday night too! Whenever I go out, I usually stop by here or Vamp'd. Problem is the house sound system sucks (compared to Vamp'd).
