The Docent's Collection - Thompson Block

Our stay at The Docents Collection was wonderful. Upon our arrival, we were greeted in the lobby by a member of the concierge team, Sara. Sara was able to answer all of our questions and provided great recommendations for us to try. She really had a wealth of knowledge about the local area. The loft itself was beautiful, spotless and in a superb location walkable to everything we needed. The kitchen is fully stocked with gear to include a wine key & bottle chiller as well as cooking utensils. The bathroom was lovely and the water pressure was great. We will absolutely book this location again on future trips.

I can’t say enough great things about our stay at the Docent Collection loft in Portland, Maine. The space was spotless, bright, and beautifully designed — a perfect mix of modern comfort and local charm. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. Check-in and keyless access made it super convenient. Providing personal recommendations prior to arrival was a nice touch. ||The location couldn’t be better — we were able to walk everywhere, from the best local shops and restaurants to the waterfront. It truly felt like having our own stylish retreat right in the heart of Portland.||I’d stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. The Docent Collection really knows how to make guests feel at home!

The room itself was a huge surprise, I had no idea that it was like a full apartment! It was very clean and comfortable! The parking situation/address was a bit confusing, so I would just suggest putting more signs near the actual door to get in so that it’s a bit easier to find. But we did call the front desk and they were super friendly and helpful to figure out where to park/etc. Everything was brand new and super fancy & clean. We couldn’t figure out how to mirror our Apple phones to the tv to use our streaming services so that was a little disappointing, it seemed to only be set up for google/LG phones. I would suggest maybe keeping an extra blanket in the closet💙 The bed was super comfy, the couch was rock hard haha but luckily we were there to sleep pretty much. The location was perfect, close to Merril and everything in the heart of Portland! All in all I would give it a 9/10! Both times we had to call to ask the front desk questions they were sooo friendly and super helpful. Thanks for a great stay!

Beautiful condo. The location is very convenient to the old port. Walking distance to the shops in old Port & the harbor front. I rated my stay of four because the Boyd block units are not complete and there was construction outside my window starting at 7 AM and construction to the left of my unit as well within the interior. I also was not a fan of the keyless entry and having to use my phone to get in and out of both the building and my unit. It was also a little strange that our friends and I thought we were booking into the same.” hotel.” But they were in fact a couple of blocks down the street from us in a different docent collection. If you are here for an extended stay, the apartment has everything you need. The beds were quite comfortable, the linens and pillows were great. The bathrooms were great. Again, if this had been completed without the construction and the key issue I would rate this a definite five and would recommended highly.

We stayed for three nights in August at the Docent Collection in Portland Maine. This was a beautiful space and we would absolutely stay there again. The hotel is ideally located in Old Port and in walking distance of everything. The entry/key system is done digitally on your cell phone and provides an easy way to communicate with staff. The suite was spacious and clean, and included a huge seating and kitchen area. The suite offered complimentary coffee, water and assortments of locally sourced snacks. The staff was very attentive and quickly responded to our needs. They recommended several restaurants and made a last-minute reservation at a popular restaurant. Parking was convenient and right next to the property. It was a wonderful experience.

I would 💯% recommend staying here. The apartment is clean, cozy and up to date. It has everything you need and then some. Great views. If you don’t want to drive you can just leave the car parked and walk. There are a ton of restaurants, shops within walking distance. You can even walk to the ferry that takes you to islands or just take a boat ride. 10/10 review

We have stayed at the Docent’s collection multiple times in late summer and early fall . The stay has always been comfortable. The amenities are always first rate and the location is excellent. The residence is very tech forward but staff has always been available to help with any difficulties. We would not hesitate to recommend and plan to come back in the future.

Wonderful location in Old Port amongst shops and restaurants and near the water. Loft was large with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and clean with stocked kitchen. There was some noise from the street at night which made it hard to sleep at times. There was also some construction on the building in the morning which was loud and the workers had to keep the front door open to use an outlet which brought up some security concerns. Keyless entry to the lobby and elevator and loft was nice as long as you don't forget your phone in the loft!
