I visited this bookstore today with my children and absolutely loved it! My kids picked out some books and so did I. They also had some amazing smelling oils I bought and whipped Shea butter. I’ll definitely be back to support. Highly recommend!

A Haven for Book Lovers: A Stellar Experience at The Dock Bookshop Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Dock Bookshop in Fort Worth, Texas, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As an avid book lover, I am always on the lookout for unique and welcoming bookstores, and The Dock Bookshop exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance of the bookstore was cozy and intimate, creating the perfect environment for exploration and discovery. The shelves were thoughtfully curated, offering a diverse selection of books across various genres, ensuring there was something for every reader's taste. This bookshop in nationally known! The owners are open and friendly and BEAUTIFUL SOULS! My first visit there they were having a "fillUp the bag" special. Buy a $5 bag and fill as many books that will fit! They have a variety of EVERYTHING! Tons of vinyl records, Wall to wall books! Writing journals, greeting cards, sage, natural handmade Shea butters, oils, jewelry, hair care products! No Floride toothpaste! Coffee mugs, apparel, bookbags, purses, bags galore! They even have poetry night, book clubs and so much more as they serve as a resource center to the community! Don't sleep on THE DOCK BOOKSHOP! JOIN Their Book club for specials! My daughters (all of us who have kids) need businesses like this in every community to instill knowledge and experiences they won't get else where! Go see for yourself and thank me later! Excellent parking!

Don't let the exterior fool you, the inside of the Dock Book shop has a wonderful collection of books by Black authors, for Black readers (and just any reader in general who wants to diversify their reading experience). I went to a poetry reading program here (they have a stage in the book store!) and I fell in love with their collection of books, ethnic clothing and other wonderful knick knacks! Would definitely recommend to readers!

It's always a great experience when I go to the Dock. So many books, activities, events and more. The owners are amazing and they truly love what they do. My boys enjoy going to the Dock to get books and story time. Keep up the great work ladies.

Yelp
This is a cool book shop operated by some really genuine people. Stopped in to check it out and spent most of the time conversing with the owners. Would totally visit here more often if I lived in the area

Yelp
Looks like they were getting ready to be interviewed by a news media outlet. One of the sisters who is one of the owners walked right next to me, no good morning or acknowledgment. Being that they were about to conduct an interview I can understand, but when a customer is right next to you it's rude not to speak especially when the news outlet visitors can see it also. Today they lacked customer service.

Yelp
I stopped by The Dock Bookshop while I was out in the Ft Worth area supporting other Black owned businesses. They are an independent black owned bookstore that carries quite the collection - definitely titles and authors that you won't find in your average bookstore! The staff was very friendly and welcoming! My son LOVED the books that we purchased! He is big on science and it was amazing to see their selection that focused on STEM and even WOMEN in STEM! Representation matters and our children need to see books with characters that look like them. I will definitely be back! I've spent several years adding books to our collection with brown skinned characters. This bookshop has made it that much easier to add to our collection.

Yelp
This place is awesome. If they don't have the book you want they can get it quick! I ordered books online and they emailed me that they got them within 3 days! It was a little more expensive than Amazon (like $3 total more), BUT it's supporting a small business. They offer events and now virtual events for the family. They obviously support their community and I will GLADLY be shopping here for books from now on because it's apparent they promote literacy and knowledge to all. They have incense, gifts, mugs, clothes, books, graphic novels, etc. The cashier even said they have vegan food sometimes. They clearly carry and support other small business by selling other products.

Yelp
The online price of the book Adversity for sale is listed at $19.99. However, the instore price was $27.99

Yelp
This bookstore has found a way to survive during the time of transition from paper books to digital books it's a fun place to go they have several community activities that people can participate in including open mic night where people do spoken word, play live music, sing, and just generally have a good time and they're always having events on the weekends

Yelp
There is no customer service. I have emailed The Dock at least twice and called several times trying to get shipping information for an online order that the shop didn't provide. Its system email told me my order shipped to a Fort Worth address on December 5th. No one has replied, and the voicemail to which the main phone number transfers is full. It has been nearly a month; my order was a gift, and the recipient never got it. All I needed the shop to tell me was which service they used to ship it and a tracking number. This information was not included in the shipping details on the account page I set up on their website, which includes the original order number and shipping address, nor did it appear in the shipping confirmation email I received from The Dock. I want to support local businesses. But it's difficult to justify the effort and intention when I seem to have wasted my money on a gift that has disappeared, though it was likely not the direct fault of the bookstore. It would be quite simple for the staff to give me the information I need to track down the package on my own.

Yelp
I did an online order and was happy with it, so when I needed some more books I decided to go back. First I tried to pre-order a book that shows on the website as available for pre-order, but didn't have a way to do it. I tried to call the store, but got their voicemail, which wasn't set up and was full. I sent them a message on Twitter asking about it and didn't get a reply. I decided that didn't matter that much and went back to them to order some books I needed for a bookclub. One of the books, Catch-22, was missing the book itself. It has the introduction, the title page, and the criticisms at the end of the book, but the story itself is missing. I've sent numerous emails, with no response at all. I will never shop here again due to the customer service. I ended up just ordering the book through Amazon, but I'm out the 20$ for this messed up copy I received. Super unhappy.

Yelp
Nice open space and great selection. You can order online as well and they will ship to pick up. Not only books but apparel, accessories, incense, and body care. Good prices and a better alternative to the big corp.

Yelp
I ordered 2 books from the Dock Bookshop on 2 separate occasions. I've had excellent experiences both times. Books arrived in pristine condition and also *very* quickly. I run a book club out of Austin, TX, and The Dock has become our go to. I also encourage my members to order with them since they ship quickly and carry titles we're interested in reading.

Yelp
Pre-ordered the Becoming by Michelle Obama release. I'm all for supporting AA owned business and didn't mind making the trip. The proprietor was very welcoming and shared upcoming events, movie screenings and a drum session. This is like a community bookstore versus the drag and drop commercial spots and I encourage supporting. Also picked up a hard bound copy of Staci Abram's new release. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
One of few black owned independent book stores. They are good for the community and despite the closings of the surrounding businesses they are still up and running making an impact. Please note the Dock is not just a bookstore but an venue, a clothing store, a place to purchase some unique and interesting finds. Enjoy browsing through the store, you will be pleasantly surprised!

Yelp
I have ordered and bought books from The Dock Bookshop twice in the last couple of months. The staff is helpful and friendly. This shop has a variety of beautiful and interesting items to browse. I will be back!

Yelp
About a 40 min ride for me, but easy to find right off E820. Books share space with a seating area used for community events and a performance stage for spoken word on Tuesday nights. There are greeting cards, jewelry, a small selection of African dashikis, skirts, and other clothing and of course books by black authors that include, non fiction, fiction, motivation/religion, history, philosophy, diet, etc..... Many of these titles are not found in mainstream book stores. Owner and her son are very personable. Cant wait to check out spoken word on Tuesday night.

Yelp
On the other side of the city for me, but they have a wide variety of books and items and the owners are nice. So many events and authors. I go several times a year to buy gifts. Reading is fundamental. If they don't have it, they will order it. I support them fully.
