The 10 Best Lobster Rolls In The Hamptons

"The Dock House is one of the more overlooked and underrated rolls on the East End, and easily the best lobster on a bun in Sag Harbor. It’s a creamy roll with large chunks of meat (we’re talking whole claws) on a crispy bun. Spritz some lemon on top and enjoy. Just know this tiny takeout seafood shack with minimal indoor and outdoor seating is slightly hard to find—it’s on the strip of pavement that juts out between the bay and the boats at the edge of town." - melissa kravitz hoeffner, team infatuation

Google
The Dock House is a very special place for me in Sag Harbor. Literally every single item on their menu is delicious!!! I love their lobster rolls, shrimp tacos, crab cakes!!!! They are very quick with orders (mostly take out) or you can sit inside as well. Grilled items in the menu are worth trying (salmon over Caesar salad would also be an excellent choice) The people who have been working there are so friendly and helpful. I love Andrea and Alyssa!

Google
Lovely cozy, spot in Sag Harbor. Hamptons! Fresh seafood, loved the crab cakes!. 🦀 The New England clam chowder is out of this world! Grab the window seats, the view is spectacular!

Devika Rampersaud

Google
Small side street cafe restaurant if you are looking for a quick bite. Outside tables are limited. Small space.

Jivan Ramesh

Google
Had the scallops grilled. They were nice if a little charred for my taste! The fries were reasonaable but fried a bit excessively and the bun was good. Was not a fan of the soup.

Google
First time customer.. My family decided to grab some clams and oysters on half shell while visiting the town. Seeing the shack near docks we had great expectations but were let down when receiving 3 bad clams out of a half dozen. Oysters were ok but after swallowing bad seafood, Its hard to enjoy any further. We did tell management who made right by giving us fried clams and were pleasant. I wont be diving into any more raw clams without giving them a sniff in the future!

Google
Low key seafood cafe/restaurant in Sag Harbour serving excellent seafood. There's a huge selection! Their lobster roll was sublime!

Eric

Google
This place has the best lobster roll. I’ve ever eaten in my life. They were friendly and the service was fast and the food was amazing. I’d eat there every day of the week if I could.

Google
Quaint seafood restaurant on the Sag Harbor dock! Very fresh seafood! Great place for any meal or takeout. Fish tacos, clam strips, waffle fries and clam chowder soup were all fresh and delicious!

Yelp
We have been going out to sag harbor for numbers summers now however I had never tried the dock house until now. The inside is really cute it is like a grab and go shack with a little bit of seating. The service was quick and it seemed locally owned, charming. We got the cup of clam chowder which was thick and decadent, so so good. We also got the French fries which were so crispy and actually some of the best I've had in a while, make sure to get shoestring. Lastly we got the lobster roll. Which was more of a lobster salad which can most of the time not be as good but we loved it. It was full of flavor but packed with so much lobster, definitely shareable between two people. It was definitely pricey but what do you expect from the Hamptons. Would reccomend and will be back.

Yelp
They DO NOT serve a lobster roll. what they serve is a LOBSTER SALAD on a roll. Lobster rolls are lobster and butter and brioche bun. The Dock House uses mere crumbs of lobster, mixed with tons of chopped celery, some scallions, and gobs of mayonaise....NOT A LOBSTER ROLL.

Yelp
This is not a place you go for the ambience, but you go there for great seafood! The Dock House is quite small, with only a few tables inside and outside. But it's on the dock where all the massive yachts park and there are plenty of benches on which to sit and eat. We got the lobster rolls, which were brimming with meat! Hardly any mayonnaise, just really great seafood. The New England Clam Chowder is excellent and creamy, not runny like some places. The shrimp cocktail is also good. You can't beat a place that serves seafood right from its own waters! You can also buy fresh fish to cook at home.

Yelp
Delicious lobster roll that hit the spot!! They don't do warm, only pre-mixed cold. And it's pricey but good seafood always is.

Yelp
Checking out the Long Island scene, we stopped at the Long Wharf... boats everywhere! We wanted to try a lobster roll and New England clam chowder, so went to the Dock House, ordered both and wow, so good! The lobster roll was packed with lobster, and very little filler, with the perfect amount of mayo! And the clam chowder did not disappoint! Definitely recommend stopping in!

Yelp
Better food than Lunch. This place has the best clam strips I have ever had. There was so much meat inside. The lobster roll definitely ranks in the top 3 best lobster rolls in the hamptons. Just as good as Clam Bar and Bostwicks The ambiance is extremely casual.

Yelp
So promising based on the reviews and the big fresh-looking menu, but underwhelming in my experience. Clam chowder - watery and not a ton of flavor. Everyone from miles around has clam chowder and a 'special' recipe. IMO, it's not in evidence here. Not enough clams, and not enough body to the soup. Not sure how they were 'Voted Best'. The scallops sounded good in reviews. When I asked about them at Dock House, they mentioned the fried version, which is battered and fried. It ever there way to hide the flavor of scallops, I'd think that would be it. Instead, the Grilled Marinated Sea Scallops seemed a better fit. I ordered that but was disappointed. The scallops were a bit overcooked, for one thing. The marinade was like spicy brown sauce, sitting on top of the scallops, which themselves sat on a baguette. If you look at the menu online, it mentions the baguette very clearly. For the record, it is listed inside on their big menu, if not as prominently. I never touched the baguette as it struck me as hard to taste the scallops. The waffle fries are good, a bit greasy and have an engaging salty flavor. Was this dish horrible? No. Can I recommend? No. It's a charming place inside. Nice little view of the harbor, if you sit by the window. They're closed a couple days of the week. Would I ever try them again? Sure. But I'm not in a rush.

Yelp
Visited The Dock House this past weekend for perfection on a compostable plate! My Lobster Roll was delicious, perfectly everything with a squeeze of lemon. I removed the chips, as I had no interest in them. 10/10! The service was quick and friendly. Don't look to languish too long, as there are only two small tables and a bar inside for sitting and eating. Everything was excellent!

Yelp
3.5 stars, rounding up to 4 because the staff was very sweet and the restaurant is on the harbor with beautiful sunset views. Would recommend the lobster roll ($35), which was packed with lobster and had celery and red onions for a nice crunch and texture. The clam chowder was also quite good and had a lot of fresh seafood. I would not recommend the fish tacos, which were around $20 for 2 tacos with a small piece of fried fish - dry and cannot compare to fish tacos in NYC.. the seafood platters were also just okay, pretty average fried food and overpriced for what it is.

Caroline B.

Yelp
Food was amazing, great place to try top-notch seafood. The service was quick and friendly, they answered the couple questions I had about the menu and sent me in the direction of the lobster roll and it was amazing!! 100% worth the price, your getting good quality seafood, and you can tell!! Cute place located right on the water with welcoming staff, a great place to visit if you're in the area!!

Yelp
I was in search of a great lobster roll, and I think I found the best one Long Island has to offer. The seafood in LI is decent but nowhere as good as you'll get in Maine. I tried the lobster rolls, shrimp tacos, and fish tacos. The fish tacos were my favorite of the three. The lobster roll was good enough but something about the flavor was lacking but portion was good and taste enjoyable.

Marie J.

Yelp
Hands down the best lobster roll in all of the Hamptons. They have the meat to bun ratio done perfectly
google avatar

Cheyenne G.

Yelp
Good golly -- this lobster roll was everything I imagined it would be. Incredible fresh and a ton of meat inside, you'll be dreaming about it for days. Ooo, don't forget to order a side of clam chowder as well! You won't regret it! The young lady working the register was a sweetheart as well. Great customer service, laid back atmosphere and fabulous seafood, be sure to check them out!

Yelp
I came to The Dock House to see if the lobster roll here is as good as everybody says it is. The lobster roll was packed with fresh lobster and was scrumptious, especially because I squeezed some fresh lemon juice from a lemon wedge that came on the side. Lemons and lobster are a winning combination because they have an affinity for one another. One brings out the flavor of the other. The lobster roll is served on a grilled hot dog potato bun. I did not care for the bun because the potato bread poorly counteracted the flavor of the lobster. I would have preferred a toasted New England-style (split top) hot dog bun. So I ate just the lobster salad. The lobster roll costs $35.79, but they added a "chkot fee" of $1.25 for paying with a debit or credit card. So my bill came out to $37.04. Thom explained that the surcharge "covers the transactions". I also purchased some corn mango salad. That costs $11.50 per pound, and it was made with fresh local corn and tropical mangoes. It was refreshing, and I liked it a lot. There are many spaces for vehicles to park on the wharf. They are in company with yachts that dock on the marina surrounding The Dock House. I can see how the popular seafood shack got its name. I highly recommend that foodies stop by here. The menu has plenty else to offer besides lobster rolls: fish tacos, steamers, fried calamari, chowder and more. Long-time Hampton residents tell me that they come to The Dock House for "the best lobster roll this side of Maine". Robin, the manager, told me that shipments of live freshly-caught lobster are delivered each week from Maine. Check out The Dock House's website, dockhouseny.com. They are open daily from May to October. I give it four stars because of the unnecessary transaction fee.

Yelp
Quaint spot on Sag Harbors wharf, doesn't look like much from the outside but their food is great! This is a must try for your summer spots as it is now closed for the season. Quality seafood done right, the crab cakes were moist and some of the best I've ever had. The grilled tuna was a generous portion and cooked to perfect temperature. The menu is huge and has something for every seafood lover but if you don't like seafood don't worry they have a burger and even a beyond burger for our non-meat eaters! Check it out and don't forget to grab a South Fork Blondid for dessert.

Yelp
Came here for lunch. Super friendly staff. Great view. Small restaurant with a little seating inside. We order a lobster roll with was $35. It was okay. The soft shell crab was my favorite. It was so meaty! Their waffle fries taste great as well. The fried baby scallops was perfect. We also ordered a kids chicken fingers and the was okay. They have tons of fries but like two small pieces of chicken. For the price i wish the pieces of chicken was a tad bigger.

JiSup K.

Yelp
Amazing lobster rolls, probably the best I've ever had! Perfect ratio of lobster and mayo and will come back for sure! I flew all the way from South Korea just for these lobster rolls

Yelp
This place is AMAZING , Fried Clam sandwich by far the BEST one I had in years .... Shrimp tacos and fresh calamari, SO Good . , casual anytime of the day ! Just go ... I promise you will thank me later ....

Phoebe L.

Yelp
I loved this place for years. I was shocked by the poor quality of the fish. The flounder tasted frozen. I'm disappointed.

Mary T.

Yelp
My sister and I came in for a quick dinner on our way home from work, we were not disappointed! The restaurant was very cute and casual with high tops outside to watch the boats go by. The staff was great. We had the pleasure of being helped by Chris who was so friendly and kind. The food was all fresh and delicious. We had the grilled tuna, shrimp tacos, baked clams and a cup of lobster bisque. Everything was delicious and made to order. I would definitely visit The Doc House again, 10/10.

Yelp
Pros: fairly good selection of fresh sea food, cooked the way you like. Cons: completely insane lines at lunch time, and no place to eat the actual food (the few tables they do have fill up very quickly). Overall, this place is great for a quick snack by yourself but if you are with a group - you luck may vary.

Vizskaya K.

Yelp
Overpriced lobster rolls. Baked clams were undercooked, sent back and was inedible. I do not recommend this place. What a waste of a meal.

Susie R.

Yelp
What happened to the Dockhouse?! It has gone downhill. Went with friends today.. the flounder sandwich was served with stale bread & the flounder did not taste fresh...seemed like a frozen fish stick. The crab cake was 98% bread crumbs. Sad for the price we paid. We'll never go back.

Yelp
Placed a pick up order on a weekend for a lobster, along with a couple dishes for some friends. Unfortunately the miserable weather during the Memorial Day weekend prevented us from being able to stay and enjoy the location, which seems to be the highlight of The Dock House. 1-1/4 lb lobster - 2.5/5. It was not horrible, but overcooked a bit to the point where the meat was fairy tough and chewy. Was expecting more for the reviews of this place. On the plus side, the ~$32 price seemed fair given the high lobster prices in NYC (not sure about the Sag Harbor area generally) Leaving a 3 star review because I would go back, if only to see all the hype about the location. Definitely would not order the same item however. Maybe try the lobster roll that seems to be all the craze

Yelp
Absolutely the best lobster roll in The Hampton's! My wife and I spent a week in The Hampton's and I tried lobster rolls everywhere. At The Dock House, you get lots of lobster, just enough mayo, celery, and seasoning on a perfectly grilled bun. Absolutely loved it and highly recommend it!

Katie S.

Yelp
The Dock House is an absolute MUST when in the Hamptons!!! My boyfriend said that this is the best lobster roll he's ever had. I don't eat seafood, but the chicken tenders were seriously incredible. Probably the best I've ever had to be honest. Their homemade honey mustard is to die for. Met the owners - Andrea and her son Alec, and they're the sweetest people. The lobster roll, honey mustard, and so many more items are all Andrea's recipes! Very impressive. The inside is super cute too, and the location is even better. After we ate, we walked right outside to look at the gorgeous views of the water and the boats. Can't wait to go back soon!!!

Aidan M.

Yelp
Food was pretty cool, service was great. Nice place. I would definitely recommend. Good

Yelp
This place is the good stuff... If you're looking for a real dock house seafood fish house lobster roll shrimp Poboy clams and knuckles taste of the sea chips on the side french fries indoors salty dog eared pages of a Captains log hot feet cold planks pirates in the bathroom cole slaw not whole slaw high tops low cost (this is actually pretty pricey but it's Sag Harbor in the summer) friend ships AND friend ships... This is not your spot. Just kidding. It's all this and more and I love nothing more than this and some Big Olaf's ice cream next door! T.J. the oyg

Yelp
Wow the lobster roll was excellent. We definitely love our seafood and when we come to the East Coast we definitely like our lobster. The sandwich was on a toasted bun and there was about a pound of lobster salad included on the sandwich - very generous. We also had a bowl of clam chowder. So yummy! We had an amazing dining experience!
google avatar

John I.

Yelp
I've been coming for a long time - over 10 years. But it's gone completely down hill. No clams in the chowder the fish and chips is like fish sticks at public school. AND - they charge you a fee to use your Credit Card!!! Don't go here ! Use their bathroom and if you happen to piss on the floor then good on you!

Joe O.

Yelp
had lunch there with my wife, ordered a cold lobster roll and was a bit disappointed, very little lobster with mostly filler at $38.will not be going back.
google avatar

Cate S.

Yelp
We were really looking forward to having some great seafood out here. Considering the good reviews, we were pretty disappointed with this place. to be clear, we ordered for pickup. It was the first place we tried in the area so maybe our expectations were too high. There were a few of us so we ordered a few different items to share: 3 lobster rolls, a few pounds of mussels, and 2 soft-shell crabs. Lobster rolls: Priced at $38, this is the highest price I've ever paid for a lobster roll, including Manhattan, Maine, and Rhode Island, so I was expecting something spectacular. The bun itself was underwhelming, not toasted, not buttered, just a straight up hot dog bun. The lobster was decent, the bun was filled with plenty of lobster. The saddest part, I gotta say, is the bag of Lays potato chips that came alongside. For $38 I expected a better side item. Mussels: overcooked, chewy, dry. The best part of eating mussels is being able to enjoy the juices and how soft and tender the meat is. There was none to be had. Soft-shell crabs: It wasn't clear on their menu in the shop that this would come in a sandwich form. Nevertheless, the crab was battered and deep-fried really well and for the most part this was the best thing from what we ordered. Overall, we would never go back to this spot. It's overpriced and we found way better lobster rolls and other shellfish for much better prices in the same area. I know with many restaurants, dining in is a much better experience, but that probably only applies to the mussels in our case.
google avatar

Frank L.

Yelp
This is absolutely the best place in Sag Harbor for fresh fish and seafood. Not fancy, but great value for the money. Fish tacos are to die for, especially when paired with their homemade guacamol.
google avatar

Anita G.

Yelp
Just get the lobster roll with waffle fries please... I think it's the best lobster roll I've ever had on Long Island , and I was born and raised on Long Island. The seasoning on that lobster meat is fantastic! Their burgers are good too!
google avatar

Jane D.

Yelp
Customer service here is in the crapper. They gave us that feeling that while our money may have value to them our Time certainly didn't. The two stars are for the food alone and bless the hearts of the folks in the kitchen the front of house clearly have no respect for them. One short fiery women tried to snatch my friends plate from her mits because after the 45 minutes we waited for it. 45 minutes you read that right! It was still missing her side salad. No Deb you can't use her scallops to play show and tell in the kitchen only to return a cold plate and sour face. I'd never go back here for the human element alone. Pitty shits too because with a location like that they will get away with this weak behavior indefinitely! And who could forget the dead lobster left in the tank. After the charming encounter we had with the staff I am willing to bet they use dead lobsters in their chilled lobster rolls? And soups - that's a Barf!
google avatar

Yelp
Wife & I stopped at Dock House for a quick lunch, late June 2021. Very cute inside, a basic fish shack on the water. These types of places don't care about the frou-frou (frou-frou in Sag Harbor?!?!), so you could miss Dock House in the shadows of multi-million dollar yachts. Excellent, fresh seafood. Delicious! Not a large place, but it was not crowded when we came (weekday).
google avatar

Georgia H.

Yelp
The Dock House is a casual spot right on the water in Sag Harbor. It's a quick and easy lunch while walking around the adorable town. A friend and I split the lobster roll last time I went in. It had lots of fresh lobster with crunchy, fresh veggies for texture. There was not too much mayo either. It was really tasty and hit the spot. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because I do think I've had better lobster rolls. Also, my friend ordered the chicken fingers and fries, which were nothing to write home about. Seemed fried from frozen.
google avatar

Jay M.

Yelp
I always order the fish tacos!! I comes with 3 dips, forgot what they're called (one's the salsa). I love their fried shrimps so much! And the fries ahhh will try the lobster soon! WORTH THE PRICE

Ken K.

Yelp
The food is always great and we'll priced, especially for Sag Harbor. It is one of our go to's for pick up and we order there a lot!
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
Ordered the salad with salmon (well done). Received a burned black piece of fish. Terrible tasting. Very disappointing because this used to be my favorite place to eat.

Vidal B.

Yelp
Hands down the best lobster roll in the h Hamptons!! Enough said. It is a shack, not a restaurant, but your better off hete than so.e "name" restaurant if you want a killer lobster roll!!
google avatar

Cookie B.

Yelp
If I lived in Sag Harbor (or anywhere near enough to drive there) I would be big as a cow because I would eat here 2 or 3 times a week! Everything is fresh and delicious. Best clam strips I have had anywhere! It is small and gets crowded but we seem to always luck out and get a seat.
google avatar

Genesis B.

Yelp
Had such a lovely day at the Dock house. I went with a few friends and had the lobster roll. It was delicious. The drinks were also very good. The staff was very attentive and provided us with great service.
google avatar

Ali C.

Yelp
Super cute seafood "shack" on the docks in Sag Harbor. Order at the counter and take or sit there, all served in to-go containers. Limited seating and only bottled drinks. They have kids choices too. Enjoy
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
The biggest lobster roll I have ever seen ! Shame it doesn't come with waffle fries but hey ho still amazing. Not sure about my friends fish n chips but who cares I got want I wanted and more !
google avatar

Irina T.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches and amazing sea food. They don't have much of a seating area but the food is fresh and delicious
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Best lobster roll, other than the ones my wife makes, ever! All claw meat with minced celery for some crunch. Reasonably priced for a good sized portion. The owner is also very personable and friendly. The view of the yacht in the harbor can't be beat.

Denise G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. The fish was incredibly fresh. My lobster roll was possibly the best I've ever eaten.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
The Dock House is a nice spot. It is expensive for traditional seafood, but it is the Hamptons. The lobster rolls were average, but came with a lot of meat. The New England style clam chowder also had a lot of meat in it, so I left feeling satisfied. Beautiful location close to the water and center of Sag Harbor, which allows for walking and looking around before or after you stop here.
