This place was great! Great location overlooking the river. Plenty of outdoor seating as well. The food is nice sized portions, hot, and tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive. Booster seats and slings available. Nothing bad to say about this place other than the parking was very limited. Highly recommend

Google
Such a cute place located along the river with gorgeous views! The food was delicious! I shared the fried chicken sandwich with a friend after a group of 6 of us shared some apps! Best spinach Artichoke dip I have ever had! My only complaint is that they didn't carry Carbliss.

Google
This is a beautiful place to eat with a great view of the river. The food was absolutely amazing and the serving sizes are good for the price. It did take quite a while to get seated, and we were told multiple times by several people that someone would be around to help us soon... But I'm not sure how typical that is for The Dock, and the food was so good that I think the wait was well worth it!

Google
Great location and views of the river! The food and service was fantastic. We especially loved the walleye and the chicken wild rice soup. The interior is a bit outdated. If they could turn the fireplaces on it would add ambiance to the room. Also some nice music would enhance the dining experience. Overall, great visit. We will be back to check out the outdoor seating.

Google
We were looking for a place with a view in Stillwater while passing through. The Dock was recommended and it was a great choice. The atmosphere and view was nice. The service was a little slower, but plenty friendly. Food was good. Parking can be a little difficult, but that whole area is a little difficult for parking. We've already recommended friends and we'll be back.

I had an absolutely delightful lunch with a dear friend at this place. The patio overlooking the serene river created a truly enchanting atmosphere. The weather was perfect, adding to the overall charm of the experience. The service we received was attentive and friendly. As for the food, I opted for a spinach salad adorned with succulent strawberries, crunchy walnuts, and delectable salmon. While the combination seemed a bit unconventional to my personal taste, the individual ingredients were undeniably fresh and flavorful. On the other hand, my friend decided to indulge in a juicy, tender steak, which they deemed excellent in every aspect. It was cooked to perfection, seasoned just right, and left them thoroughly satisfied. Overall, despite my slight reservation about the flavor combination in my salad, the overall experience was truly wonderful.

My dad grew up in Stillwater and this is one of his favorite places to eat when we visit. We live in Chicago and only visit maybe once a year. However I would say that the service & food has declined over the years. I know many restaurants have a hard time finding servers since the pandemic so that may affect having enough servers to handle the crowd. The manager was not very helpful either. And this was a weekday afternoon! Maybe we just visited on a bad day. We waited about 30 minutes and the room we ate in was only 3/4 full but we were told we couldn't be seated because they didn't have enough servers. The expensive sandwich I ate last week was just dried up sliced turkey on bread with blackberry jam. Really disappointing for the price. Processed turkey cuts too, not sliced turkey breast. The rice & chicken soup was just OK. Still a great view of the St. Croix.

Google
Wonderful place to meet & have a meal. Right on the St Croix River with very nice outside dining deck, inside dining areas, & beautiful bar area. Bartender Daniel, server Nicole, & the rest of the staff are superb. Delicious meals (especially the breaded walleye entree & wild rice soup). Our little one enjoyed the macaroni & cheese with fries.

Yelp
I have gone to the Dock Cafe for decades and was pretty worried after COVID when they remained closed for so long, but I was recently in Stillwater and go to return. As with most places after COVID I worried that the service and food would have changed from what I had always loved so much, but I was happy to find it was still an amazing experience! First of all the ambiance is still wonderful! The large booths near the bar are my Happy Place overlooking the river, listening to them shaking my martini... wonderful!! They also have other dining room areas also overlooking the river as well as a patio open in the warmer months The service in my years of experience has always been amazing: experienced, friendly, professional, thoughtful. The food is timed perfectly, they check back for refills etc. Wonderful! The food....So good! From the starters like our recent Crunchy cauliflower and Crab cakes to their delicious Shrimp Diablo pasta with terrific flavor and HUGE shrimp, to their expertly crafted cocktails it is a beautiful way to start or end your day in Stillwater!

Yelp
Seated outside on the patio. Weather was perfect. Jordan was our waiter. We ordered two vodka tonics, a bowl of soup each and the bread. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks because I waited for Jordan to come back. It was mid-afternoon and it wasn't that busy. When I reminded him, he said he forgot. The food took even longer Fortunately, the food and drinks were good. Service - no

Yelp
Lovely table overlooking the St. Croix River for enjoying a leisurely lunch with friends to celebrate a birthday. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Birthday boy had the Walleye Sandwich; the companions had Chicken Wild Rice soup and the Scallops appetizer. We all shared Calamari and all left happy! Approve.

Yelp
What a great place to have lunch and enjoy the view. I have to admit the view is what sold us on where to eat but the food ended up being delicious. The service was friendly and very responsive to our needs. Overall great place to enjoy a meal.

Yelp
I have tried this place twice now and no interest going back. The first time I did take out. When I arrived to pick it up the staff seemed so discombobulated. All I was picking up was a cup of soup. Most recently I wanted the dining experience and had someone in from out of town and figure Stillwater is the best area to show her while in town. We stopped by for a drink and lunch. We were unable to get outside seating but found seat at the bar to overlook the river. We were never brought water, the wait time to even get our drink ordered took awhile, we placed our food orders pretty fast and when the food was delivered it was just placed in front of us. We weren't asked do we need anything else, everything look ok. Nothing. I finally had to stop someone else who stopped behind the bar as I couldn't believe I ordered a Rueben and couldn't spot any sauerkraut. I did not the original bread served with it so I did ask for the non rye bread but where is the sauerkraut. I did stop on Labor Day and felt awful for the young girl trying to manage everything. I don't feel she was in a supportive situation as the place didn't appear to be appropriately staffed for a holiday at meal time.

Yelp
After alot of not so great reviews on Yelp, we thought we would go and see for ourselves. We were pleasantly surprised. We sat outside on the patio on a very warm humid summer day. It was pleasant! Large trees provided shade for the entire patio, food was great, service was great! Watched boats of all kinds out on the river as we ate. We will be back again!

Yelp
We've been here a hand full of times while visiting family in Stillwater. If you are looking for a great patio setting with water views, this is about the best choice for outdoor dining in Stillwater. They do not take reservations for the patio but you may put your name in with the hostess and have a drink at the inside bar while waiting. I've never dined inside but it looks nice and you still can have a view of the river. We always have at least 8 people so it is hit and miss depending on the time of day. We waited about 45 minutes at 6:30pm for outside seating. It is a beautiful patio with large trees and nice string lighting over the tables. Very romantic if you were to come on a date. Warning, if you are susceptible to mosquitoes bites like me, wear mosquito repellent. I forgot to apply this time and came home with about 60 large, painful bites. I usually remember, however, paid the price for my forgetfulness. I would like to compliment the staff. From the Hostess to the Bartender to the servers, everyone was very, very nice and all smiles. That was not always the case at this restaurant but the current staff is fantastic. The server was attentive and quick. We ordered several appetizers including calamari, spinach artichoke dip, cauliflower bites. The appetizers are typical bar food. We also had ordered Rueben sandwiches, pasta Alfredo, salmon and some items for the kids. Everything tasted fine. Is it 5 starts good, absolutely not, however our overall experience and setting were great. If you are visiting Stillwater, make sure to stop in at The Dock.

Yelp
Came for a afternoon snack and drinks on the patio. Pluses: dog friendly! Beautiful and spacious patio with amazing views. Service was a-ok Downsides: food. Calamari was fine. The bread appetizer was disappointing. The olive oil served as a "dipping sauce" tastes no different than the Costco olive oil I use for cooking. There were no added herbs or spices. Not even salt or pepper. I was not certain what to do with the grated Parmesan served in an accompanying bowl. The "whipped" butter was not whipped in any way, basically just a solid piece of butter. The bread was actually quite good. This dish can definitely use some upgrading.

Yelp
If you're in downtown Stillwater and want a riverside view with good food. This is your place to go! The outdoor patio is perfect for dinner; the sun is blocked by the restaurant and allows for a nice shady dining area. The service here was attentive and accommodating. I got a turkey sandwich with blackberry jam and some sweet potato fries. The turkey was well cooked and had a ton of flavor! There was only a hint of the jam, so it was like eating a turkey, cheese and bacon sandwich, but I didn't care because the turkey tasted so good. The sweet potato fries were served with some sort of spicy aioli and it was delicious!!! Definitely recommend. The parking lot is small, so be prepared to park farther away and taking a stroll to get there. Overall, the service, view, and food was a hit and I would go back here again next time I'm in Stillwater :)

Yelp
The Dock is a wonderful spot, especially if you're looking to enjoy a meal with a beautiful view! We sat on the patio overlooking the St. Croix River, which made for a relaxing and scenic experience with all the boats passing by. The partially shaded patio was perfect for a comfortable, extended stay. Our food came out quickly and was delicious - the burger was good, but the standout was the unique and flavorful turkey sandwich. Overall, a great place to unwind, and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We were there on Monday 10/21/24 for a late lunch / early dinner. It was not exceptionally crowded, we waited for about 15-20 minutes to be seated outside on the patio with a beautiful view of the river. Good so far. After being seated, we waited, and waited for Jake, who apparently didn't know he was our server, to acknowledge us, bring us water, and take our order. Calamari, a turkey sandwich, split, and a house salad. And we waited.... The Calamari appetizer came out first, and almost immediately, the sandwich and salad. The Calamari was extremely salty, but it was edible. The salad was good. The sandwich, on the other hand was not. It had RAW bacon on it!!! Jake, who never stopped by to ask if everything was ok, or if we needed anything, was finally flagged down, and told about the raw bacon. His only comment was that he would notify the kitchen staff. Didn't offer to remake the sandwich, or even get us fresh bacon. Seemingly couldn't be bothered. I dropped my fork, and asked him for another one as he whisked by. He didn't even acknowledge my request, and later just dropped one off. Waited again for the check, and finally had to ask for it. Waited again for him to pick it up, and finally just got up went to the front desk to pay. We complained about the raw bacon, and after a discussion amongst the staff (totally ignoring us standing no more 3 feet away), we were comped for the sandwich, blaming the kitchen staff. Absolutely the poorest service we've ever experienced at any restaurant.

Yelp
Came here for a private event, a welcome dinner before a wedding. Love the ambiance right on the river and the private room has a great view! All of the employees that were helping our party were wonderful and quick - especially with a big group of people ordering drinks on different checks! The bride & groom chose to do a 'burger bar' which was great for this crowd, but I feel the restaurant missed the mark for the pricing. It was basically just a buffet with a deconstructed burger for you to put together yourself - no extras other than chips and no fun toppings, just your usual onion, tomato, lettuce, etc. We each paid about $28 which was way overpriced for these meh burgers - and this was a group that loves burgers! I had one burger with cheese lettuce and onion and it was fine, not even as good as a burger ordered from a restaurant on it's own. Overall, the bride & groom are not at fault for their choice - for the price point and having a private experience I was expecting a more upscale and/or vast selection.

Yelp
I'm so happy I visited The Dock again! It's been several years and I missed it so much! A few friends and I went for their happy hour 3-5 pm. We got 4 appetizers (charcuterie, board, spinach and artichoke dip, sweet potato fries, fried cauliflower) and glasses of wine! The view cannot be beat. You can sit inside or outside and see the Stillwater bridge and water. The bartender was super attentive and so friendly! Shout out to Emma! I can't wait to visit again for a full meal!

Shelby M.

Yelp
My second visit to the Dock in Stillwater. Great views right next to the currently rising river. Had a reservation for 8 and seated in the dining room. A few of us wanted the crab cakes but they were out. The lemon butter scallops were 6 small scallops arranged on a plate with a very tasty corn salsa (it could've used a baguette for the sauce). The charcuterie was absolutely amazing and huge! Something I would definitely order again. Our server was friendly too. Small parking lot out front.

Yelp
Quality food and waitstaff, was one of the top restaurants we visited during our trip. Nice location on water. Was a welcomed change from pub food. I grabbed a Filet, mash and green beans before leaving to airport to get thru flight and I was very happy..... drinks were made correctly and In a day and age where I usually refrain from recommending, I would recommend this establishment. It's evident they try to hit a mark.

Amber N.

Yelp
Hostess was terrible, very rude. We came at night and not right before close and they treated us terribly. Management was standing right there. Our waitress (Maggie) was personable and the only reason we decided to stay. Food was terrible and we got it reduced. I do not recommend. Great view, good wine but horrible service.

Mike Y.

Yelp
You can not beat the location in Stillwater. The deck is nicely overlooking the water, just nice and relaxing. We had breakfast once and lunch. The food in particular the Salmon Benedikt was outstanding.

Abigail W.

Yelp
Great service from both the host staff and our server! We had a great dinner on the patio.

Tj S.

Yelp
I'm a local and have been here on and off for 30 yrs. It's a nice location, but the menu and prices aren't anything to rave about...especially after re-opening post Covid. The place seems to have great potential, but has never really hit the mark. I'm sure it's passable for the tourists.

Kennady N.

Yelp
I ordered a Reuben and sweet potato fries. The Reuben was amazing and came so fast! Great outdoor seating. My 2 yr old loved watching the boats and the food!

Mark W.

Yelp
Sadly, the dock has deteriorated badly under new ownership. We used to love the place, so it's unfortunate. The food is so so and overpriced. Last time we went, the bartender was too busy hitting on a waitress to be bothered by us.

Jenette M.

Yelp
We had the walleye and Filet mignon. Service was awesome - thanks Kylee! Food arrived very quickly and was delicious. The chocolate mouse cake was really good. Views are outstanding. Was surprised by bad reviews as we did not have the same experience. We will return!

Jason W.

Yelp
I enjoy eating with great view. This restaurant is in Stillwater that we can sit on their deck to overseeing the river Saint Croix. Drinking beer here, eating fish and watching sunset in late summer evening is surely a great joy!

Roland W.

Yelp
We've enjoyed a couple decades of great food and delightful scenery. The St. Croix River is a constantly-changing parade of boats of all sizes. The food is outstanding. It's our favorite place.

Nekhrun I.

Yelp
2 stars for the view. The food is some of the worst I've had. I assume that the pork lollipops were freezer burned before they were "cooked" and served (still frozen in the middle). Brussels sprouts not cooked all the way through and no seasoning. Are they frying fish? Because that's what my chicken sandwich tasted like (breaded in cornmeal). There is not a menu item here worth eating except for the fries. Get those, have a drink (not one from the menu), sit on the patio and enjoy the view and people watching and listening to bartender stories to other customers. If you order anything else, soak in the experience, because you'll definitely have a story to tell (just not a good one).

Greg V.

Yelp
Still the best view in town. But such a sad menu. Had the sun dried tomato bowl on noodles. Great noodles, no flavor in the sauce. Sun dried tomatoes should have flavor, punch, sweetness, not these. We sure miss the olde Dock.

Mike And Sandy N.

Yelp
Absolutely HORRIBLE! Braiin dead, rude, inconsiderate staff.Sat for 40 minutes after ordering and asked how much longer ( for simple breakfast) and then was told they had not even started our order yet. Waitress too dumb to even give us updates in the delays even though there were many open tables. Will never go again! Poor, poor experience!!!

Jeanne T.

Yelp
The ambiance was wonderful situated as it is right on the river. Lovely patio and a very spacious restaurant inside. Unfortunately the food was expensive, especially the "shareable" appetizers, with a limited selection, and everything, including the Brussel sprouts, was cooked to dry and overdone. My sister's medium steak was definitely medium well. The salmon was a nice sized piece but was so dry as to be almost tasteless. The shareable Calamari at $22 was also dry, and I've had the same amount of food as an appetizer at half the price. Too bad the food isn't as good as the venue. The server was very nice, but the service was quite slow for a restaurant that wasn't even half full. Kind of a waste of a lovely space.

Nicole T.

Yelp
The restaurant itself felt like an old board room that was turned into a bar/restaurant. Kind of a cold feel. Patio was nicer to sit on vs inside. The menu is fairly limited and VERY expensive for certain dishes. $20+ for most items INCLUDING apps. Ordered an old fashion, they used some Cheap whiskey and maraschino cherries and it came out in a plastic cup. Ordered the walleye sandwich that was over $20....came with chips that tasted like they came out of an old Dutch bag. Not a kettle chip but a bag chip for sure. To get fries was another $3 up charge. The food came out in I would say less than 7 min. Walleye was on a hoagie bun, too much bread for the amount of fish. The fish was unbelievably HOT! To the point that it burnt my mouth. Judging for the quickness the food was brought out and the temp of the inside of the fish I would say it was microwaved. The outside was not crisp like it was fried, and no way a pan sear would get it that hot. Staff was friendly, like they were on a cruise ship, which felt weird. Wouldn't go back.

Gina R.

Yelp
Heather Katz was the bartender yesterday. She made Delicious drinks! She was very knowledgeable about the food menu as well. Heather made an afternoon outing with friends even better!! I highly recommend going to The Dock for the top-notch service.

Kathy R.

Yelp
Burgers and fries were nicely done. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. Patio is a ten.

Teresa M.

Yelp
Welcome back. You have been closed for 2 years and we have missed you! Our bartender and server were spot on! Friendly service and prompt. Our food was amazing. I highly recommend the Portabella Fries! We shared the Monster Burger and it lives up to it's name. Smothered in slaw, cheese, bacon & toped with an egg! We ordered it medium & it was cooked to perfection! You can't get a better ambience than this place. We sat outside on the lovely deck. Beautiful flowers and clean. I can't wait to come back! Thank you Dock staff for all your hard work - we appreciate YOU!

Deb W.

Yelp
So sad to see a restaurant we loved dining at go downhill. The menu is less than desirable and food was over cooked and flavorless. That was our first visit. We thought we'd give it another try to see if menu had improved but unfortunately it hasn't. We saw that the indoor bar area had many open tables and the restaurant in general wasn't busy so we made an error by seating ourselves at a table without checking in with host. A server started waiting on us but before she could deliver water, a male host came over and lectured us about not checking in with host stand. After he finally stopped lecturing us, a couple at the bar turned around and commented on his rude behavior. We left the restaurant and don't plan on going back. We gave it two visits. They serve drinks outside in plastic cups and at first said it was a Stillwater ordinance which they were called on so now they're saying it's a river ordinance. This restaurant is in dire need of Gordon Ramsay.

Mikhala F.

Yelp
The highlight of this place are its location on the river for sure! Best for summer and early fall when you can sit out on the patio--tons of seating. We went on a rainy day so sat inside, but still had a great view because the place is all windows. A little bit of an outdated--in a cute way--feeling from the decor. It's all benches and booths and mirrors and pillows, light grain wood. Hostesses weren't overly welcoming, but server was attentive. Water server came around a lot. The main turn off for me was the prices without quality to match. $18 is a lot to spend on a lunch, and I didn't feel like the quality of ingredients or preparation/presentation was necessarily that high. Seemed a bit steep, but I guess they probably do alright with the Stillwater tourists. I got the lemon asparagus risotto, but am not sure why it was called that. It was just creamy risotto with peas. No flavor of lemon and no asparagus anywhere on the plate. Fried leeks on top were dry and crunchy--tasted a bit like dried grass, and lost all its leek flavor. I wasn't overly impressed. Friends got a basic chicken sandwich and chips on the side, but again, not sure that's worth $14 to me. Heavy on the bread, chicken was good but not anything special. Other friend did get the salmon and said it was great! Steep price but fresh. Great location is everything for this place!

Anya A.

Yelp
We were so happy to find this beautiful stop re-opened again after several years. New owners keep it with the same beautiful romantic atmosphere and The BEST view in town. We have to wait ~25 minutes for the second courses and manager came with apologies and we got 50% OFF entire bill. Isn't it a great service???

Ron U.

Yelp
This is a restaurant where you take your rime and you should not be in a hurry. You're on the river with beautiful view of boats driving here and there and Wisconsin on the other side. There are many tasty dishes to choose from (when in Rome eat Walleye) and I don't think anyone left anything on their plate. Friendly wait staff and the drinks we had were cold and refreshing. It's great to be able to select a "local" beer for a change of pace. I can only imagine how cozy and romantic this restaurant is at night but I'm sure someone else will review that aspect of DOCK CAFE.

Michael D.

Yelp
Ish. Poorly presented food served by poorly trained staff in a setting that has all the ambiance of a Country Kitchen circa 1974.

Randall S.

Yelp
They have a number of offerings, including a hamburger that you can get with sweet potato fries. You can sit on the patio and watch the river and enjoy the cool breeze.

Vince J.

Yelp
Had lunch here today, and it was subpar. While the service was good, I do not recommend the food. The pasta was bland, and sandwiches mediocre.

Kelly J.

Yelp
The Dock has reopened with new owners so we thought we would give it a try. The view and location can't be beat so nothing has changed there but I'm afraid the food is not as good as it used to be. More sandwiches and salads than entrees and not a lot of variety or creativity. Most at the table ordered salad with a protein and they all liked them. I ordered the grilled turkey sandwich and it was fine but nothing special. Service was great and it feels like they are really making effort for that to stand out. One word of warning: an 18% gratuity is already added in to the bill but it's not clearly identified on the bill so it's likely that most people don't notice and add more tip on top of it. I'm ok with them adding it on, I just think it needs to be clear. Also they have 2 different totals depending on whether you pay cash or pay with credit card. Hoping that the menu improves and becomes more interesting over time.

John S.

Yelp
Family and I went there for a Sunday dinner. The martinis we ordered (for some reason served with a lemon wedge instead of a twist) were undrinkable due to way too much vermouth and not being chilled. Sent them back and was served again with what appeared to be the same drink, perhaps poured over some ice for a minute. All of the seafood (salmon, shrimp) was overcooked and tasteless, the sauces bland. The server and the river view were lovely but could not compensate for the dismal food.

Art C.

Yelp
The food was so-so at best, the service was terrible (finally had to go get a drink from the bar) but the view is awesome!

Lorraine N.

Yelp
The atmosphere in the bar area with the huge windows and little candles are just cozy and gorgeous. The cute bartender with the dimple yeah, he is pretty dern tootin' cute also. They have happy hour here and delicious options on the food menu for that along with a good selection of top shelf liquor. I really enjoy this place and will make a regular appearance here.

Nancy H.

Yelp
We had lunch here twice during our stay in the area. The chicken and wild rice soup was served with a warm dinner roll and it was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the crab cakes on our first visit and they were made with chunky crabmeat. They were also excellent and the order consisted of three cakes . The restaurant has a nice wine and beer selection too. On a nice day we ate outside but we ate inside on the second visit. Both locations are very nice.

Almeda S.

Yelp
Beautiful view, decent service, but they don't offset the lackluster food. The braised short ribs were savory, house salad pretty good but the pork medallions were dry and shoe leather tough plus no flavor and the crab cakes are so overly breaded they look and the crust tastes like a giant fried cheese ball. Bonus our crab cake appetizer came to the table after our meals were delivered. So underwhelmed by the place the view can't make up for it.

Debbie H.

Yelp
We have been going to the dock for years. We went last week and we were so disappointed in the quality of the meals we had. The prices are way too high. Although we love the ambiance and location, we will not eat there again

Scot F.

Yelp
Run!!!! The Dock restaurant is terrible. The restaurant is tired, the menu is tired, the food is served luke warm. Gross! Gross! Gross! Flavor took a vacation here and hasn't been seen since.

Pang Y.

Yelp
Friday night dinner: Can't say not to food and a beautiful lake front. Artichoke Ramekin, bloody Mary's, Walleye, And Tuna.

Leslie S.

Yelp
Terrific service. Friendly staff. Returned my meal that tasted like it was formed from a full salt shaker. I didn't try anything else. Sat inside & had a top shelf margarita served in a plastic cup. seriously? i rarely eat out but come on!
