The Donut Kitchen-Downtown McKinney

Cool, hip donut and ice cream shop just off the square. Had a simple cake glazed donut. They have their own recipe. It’s not as dense as a normal cake donut. It was good. They have a variety of options like chocolate, vanilla...etc. They also have great kids options like a fruity pebbles donut and a vanilla sprinkles one. The donuts were all that I tried. The ice cream looked great as well. Boozy ice cream options looked good.

Just what Downtown McKinney needed! Fun vibe with creative donuts, hot breakfast food and coffee. We had both types of kolaches and the fruity pebbles, blueberry cream cheese, m&m and banana foster donuts. Great for weekend mornings ♥️ Definitely our new donut place!

Omggggggg people. This place is amazing. Incredible assortment of delicious artisan donuts with a very friendly staff. The decor is spot on and the place is very clean including the restrooms. Prices seem on par for the quality of the food. Do yourself and your tummy a favor and get in here!!!

Went in after lunch because we wanted to try the donuts, we don't live in McKinney but we would definitely come back for these donuts. We tried four kinds and the key lime was my favorite. The person who helped us who I assumed was the owner was awesome and provided great service. Try this place!

Best ice cream shop ever!!! It’s a mom and pop ice cream shop for moms and pops but the kicker is most of the ice cream is alcohol infused. Although they also have classics like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry for kids bringing it full circle as a family friendly ice cream shop! Both owners are amazingly as sweet and unique as the ice cream they churn in house. A family tradition in our household is board games bc we strongly believe in bringing our family together without usage of electronics and we were excited to see the shelves of board games on the wall. My son grabbed battleship and we played, laughed, and enjoyed the ice cream and coffee. It was such an incredible experience during this unprecedented time of our nation (covid-19 pandemic). Our family adores the little touches and kind acts which aren’t celebrated nearly as much as they should be. Our experience was memorable from the sweet smiles and words of both the owners. The ice cream is phenomenal!!! Every flavor bursted with savor and the alcohol isn’t in your face, overwhelming. We will definitely be back soon for brunch and more. I’m so enamored with the entire shop and I highly recommend The Donut Kitchen to everyone who stops into historic McKinney!!!

Artisan donuts....Yes, please...all of them. These were awesome, and if you go at night when they serve boozy ice cream, you can make an amazing sundae, the likes of which can only be experienced, not explained.

Awesome place! Right downtown. The sandwiches and paninis are the bomb. As are the fancy donuts!

Best. Donuts. Ever. Most donut shops specialize in yeast donuts, with a few cake donuts as an option. These are all cake donuts and are superb! There is a little bit of crisp on the outer edges of the donut, and the donuts themselves are very flavorful. So many toppings to choose from!! The strawberry chocolate is fantastic! Strawberry donut, with chocolate icing and fresh strawberry slices on top...delish! I preferred the plain maple over the maple bacon, but also tend to be a bit of a purest. I think my favorite was the blueberry donut, covered in powered sugar and topped with the most heavenly cream cheese icing I have ever had! Seriously, I think I could sit down with a bowl of that icing and eat it with a spoon until I got sick...it's THAT good! Somehow it's light and fluffy and more of a whipped texture than a heavy icing. If you want to try something beyond standard donut shop fare, give this place a try! Oh, and the ladies there the morning I went, were super sweet, accommodating, and well able to direct you to something you might like!
