The Dory Bistro & Gallery

"Opposite the harbour in this little fishing village, you'll find a thoroughly charming restaurant where East Neuk produce is cooked with the care it deserves. Seafood dominates both the menu and the décor, with the restaurant walls doubling up as gallery space for plenty of aqua-based art. The blackboard is the place to look for fresh daily specials, like plump and juicy langoustines or hake with seaweed butter sauce. If you’re local to the area, this could quickly become a favourite haunt – you may even go home with some new artwork." - Michelin Inspector

My wife and I love our food. Seriously. And this restaurant 100% delivers. Just amazing. The staff were utterly lovely. And the food was stunning. The seaweed coated cod was immense but the star of the show was the blue cheese pear and baklava desert. Just wonderful. Thank you for such a beautiful Fife seafood and experience. Go. You won’t regret it.

The Dory is a seafood restaurant on the Pittenweem harbour. We walked the Dory several times before looking up the menu. The menu seemed creative with lots of great options. The breaded oysters were out of this world, I could have had several portions as my main. I went for the monkfish as a main, which was extremely well cooked. My partner went for the seaweed breaded fish and chips, which was very good. We found out that most of the vegetables are actually grown on top of the restaurant. That made sense as everything tasted so fresh. The service was exceptional and we couldn't recommend it enough. We will be back!

Booked via email for a table of 7, plus a dog and baby for a Sunday lunch, and they were very accommodating! Such a warm welcome and bubbly waitress. We all loved our starters and mains! So much to choose from with the specials board and the main menu. They are dog friendly for lunch and brought our dog a wee water bowl. The restroom also had a baby changing table. The restaurant is also an art gallery. Great place!!

My Wife, Son & I dined at the Dory on Sunday night ( we've been many times over the years for lunch & supper ) As always everything from start to finish was utterly outstanding in every way. The lovely Lady who greeted us & took care of us was a fantastic person with a clear love of the business / food & dealing with people, not easy to find in this day & age. What a difference it makes to have such a kind & caring person in a very busy High end Restaurant!.. The food & service were perfection. Asparagus starter & the beautiful bread / Olives and Oil were heavenly!. Mains, goodness me!, to die for.. Mackerel / Hake & the roast beef, utterly exceptional. Desert - 3 x Chocolate slices & creme fresh, completely devine!. I have to say the bill was much less than i thought it would be for such a stunning fine dining experience overlooking the Beautiful Harbour of Pittenweem. The Dory Bistro is exceptional, ( there is no better in the UK or France ) Thank you again to all the staff at the Dory, truly amazing!. You should all be be very proud of yourselves Folks! Best Wishes, David, Lucy & Jamie Oswald

Thank you so much for the most wonderful Birthday Lunch. We all commented that it's rare to find a Menu where you want to literally try every single item. We did well with 5 different dishes and an oysters starter. A lovely Team, super setting and exquisite food!! A fantastic memory made ❤️

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Dory , a charming seafood restaurant located in the heart of Pittenweem. This was my second visit. The restaurant's interior was tastefully decorated with local and talented artists. Soft lighting, comfortable seating, and soothing background music set the stage for a delightful dining experience. The knowledgeable and friendly staff were more than happy to offer recommendations and provide insights into the preparation of each dish on the menu. Aside from the outstanding food, the service was impeccable. The waitstaff was attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about providing an exceptional dining experience. Overall, The Dory offers a delightful culinary journey . The charming ambiance, delectable dishes, and attentive service make it an ideal choice for any occasion. I hope to be back again soon.

We had a fantastic lunch at this delightful bistro. The quality of food was superb, and Ruth and her team dealt brilliantly with the dietary challenges we presented. One of my sons has food allergies and the chef took the time to provide a menu which clearly identified dishes he could eat and those to avoid. My other son is autistic and struggles with “fancy food”, and gets stressed trying to pick a dish. The bistro made clear they were happy to adapt dishes including from the children’s menu, which made him feel at ease. This was superb customer care, and was backed up by a friendly front of house team. I would highly recommend the Dory.

Sunday lunch today was unimpressive and nothing worth returning for. The clams in cream and white wine were OK, nothing special and a very small portion. The mains of hake didn't really work for me flavour wise, the greens it was served with were too tough to even cut. The chocolate tart was a little lacklustre as was the presentation of it. The service was slow and inattentive. We were left a long time with used dishes after each course, particularly the mains. As we were one of only two tables left, the slow service cannot be excused because of business. One waiter preferred to ignore us and clean and set empty tables to removing our plates and offering us desserts, the other serving staff congregating around the bar chatting.
