The comedy show was awesome. However, there was a moment that didn’t sit right with me. When the director came on stage, he made a comment about people dancing and how the show needed to continue. He also mentioned that one of the comedians who was hosting the show had given him a written introduction to use, but he dismissed it by saying, “He wants me to read a book. I ain’t doing that.”
I found that comment rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful. The host took the time to prepare an introduction, and it should have been honored. I can’t help but feel that if the host had been a national celebrity, the director would have followed the request without hesitation. It’s important to respect people’s efforts and simply do what’s asked, especially in a professional setting.
I also want to say how beautiful the historic theater is. The space itself added so much charm and character to the evening. I noticed what looked like a reception area near the bathrooms, and it would have been nice to have a reception for the comedians who traveled to perform. They deserved to be celebrated as well. I truly hope everyone was compensated fairly, especially since the first show was a full house.
