14 Coffee Shops That Also Serve Alcohol - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The Dray is more like a beer bar where you can also grab a coffee (as opposed to the other way around), but it still counts for this guide. The space is small, but was designed to look like a treehouse, so it’s a great place to spend a few hours if you never had one growing up and still resent your parents for it. The beers sourced here are some of the most interesting we’ve found in the city, but the tap list should have something you’re familiar with." - aimee rizzo

The Indoor Day Drinking Guide - Seattle - The Infatuation

"We love The Dray because it’s what we imagine having beers in a treehouse, surrounded by nothing but nature and a good book, would be like. It’s a tiny little spot in Phinney Ridge with interesting things (like a lavender farmhouse ale) on tap, an espresso machine in case you need a jolt, snacks cooked in a mini oven, and the best possible atmosphere for bringing your laptop to the bar and getting some work done while day drinking IPAs." - aimee rizzo

Seattle’s Coziest Bars - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Picture this: you’re in a treehouse, reading a good book and drinking a pint of beer. You’re also probably wearing your favorite crewneck sweatshirt too. This fantasy doesn’t have to be just a daydream—The Dray is a real beer bar designed to make you feel like you’re slurping IPA in a hollowed-out oak. It’s always calm in here despite its small size, and the selection on tap includes interesting local breweries like Iron Horse and North Coast." - aimee rizzo

Where To Drink Beer In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The Dray is a beer bar that just f*cking gets it. The whole place has maybe two dozen seats, it’s made entirely out of reclaimed wood, there’s always a soccer game on, and amidst the taps, rogue bottles of wine, and little baggies of Tim’s chips, there’s also an espresso machine. It’s the closest you’ll (probably) get to drinking in a treehouse, and you can choose to share this experience with your laptop or your crew—either one fits in just fine. The draft picks are a great mix of familiar things and “huh, what’s that?,” and there’s also a tiny oven for making flatbread pizzas and mini grilled cheeses." - aimee rizzo

12 Bars That Are Quiet Enough For A Conversation - Seattle - The Infatuation

"We like coming to The Dray during the day with our laptop to get work done with an espresso or three (this guide had to be written somewhere, after all). But this little treehouse-type spot also is great later in the day or night when you want to drink a couple of beers." - aimee rizzo

The Dray is dive bar on the little strip across from Goodwill on 65th. Parking around here can be kind of tough since there's almost a dozen restaurants and bars right here and it's usually pretty busy in this area. They have a good selection of beers on tap and the prices are normal for around here. There is a few tables outside and probably a dozen or so inside, plus the bar area. The staff here are super friendly and very helpful in choosing a drink. It's a nice spot for a night cap as it's usually not that busy later at night.

Irma Miller

Google
First time there, met up with the family. We ordered five pizzas to share. The pizzas are small but were very tasty. You order at the bar, very friendly. I forgot to take a before picture. 🙁

Ollie Lune

Google
The gentleman at the bar is incredibly friendly and kind-hearted. While I was at the facility doing maintenance work, he generously offered me a slice of cheese pizza. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and the pizza was absolutely delicious. It truly brightened my day!

Google
This is one of my favorite smaller bars in Seattle. The staff is friendly and the owners are great people. The mix of the smell of coffee and great beers while sometimes showing soccer games on the weekends brings out subtle European vibes. Highly recommend if you're meeting up with a small group or getting some work done.

Google
Love love love the atmosphere here. Feels like a cozy, hip, cabin-like getaway somewhere close to the slopes. Wood panels, bar seats, high tops and cozy tables for small groups. They have games to play or bring your own cards or bones. The beer choices are top notch, not cheap but good selection. The pizzas are so damn good! Just enough for one, don't plan to share. I've tried most of them and hardly have a favorite because they are all great. The staff picks great music! Some of the bartenders are really nice. Best part are the dogs! My dog loves going to The Dray! Always a few pups to socialize.

Brian Kapusta

Google
If you appreciate great beer and dogs this is the place for you and your pup. The tap list is always changing and there is never a miss on the quality of the beer served, and the dogs are always welcome.

Jeff Freeman

Google
Nice, cozy bar right next to the laundromat (the best people enjoy cocktails whilst the laundry spins) and the bartender isn’t just a drink-slinger, but a real hostess.

Google
Great little neighborhood place. Nice selection of beers, solid pub-style food.

Yelp
Cozy place. Stopped in for a beer. Friendly staff. Accommodated BF's request to change channel for March Madness. Close to his house so good place to hang out.

Yelp
Hole in the Whole type of place. Definitely for my beer people, as they had quite the selection. They offer mimosas as their only other type of alcoholic drink that isn't beer. Bartender was sweet & friendly. Ambiance was okay, nothing extraordinary. Mellow and quiet as we were the only guest.

Yelp
Great bar to order flatbread and beer! AND BONUS: they allow dogs!! This place is so cute and located in The Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle (north of downtown). It's a very small bar, with parking on the street, and can hold maybe 35-40 people comfortably. However, I've heard it's one of the hot spots to watch Sounders game, so I assume on game days, that place gets packed! I'm not a huge beer drinker, but all their beers from breweries local to Seattle or the PNW. The beer I DID try was the wanderlust (an IPA) which was crisp and delicious. Not too heavy like a lot of beer can be. Food is pretty good here: we ordered a pretzel that came with two mustards and also one of their flatbreads that had some pesto, sundried tomato, pepperoncinis and cheese. Both were delicious and paired with the beer well. Would highly recommend this spot for watching Sounders games, or just coming in for a quick beer or wine!!

Yelp
Super cute, trendy spot! It's got a very modest store front! In fact when the Lyft dropped us off we almost didn't see it! Very quaint little spot in Phinney Ridge! The inside is decked out in reclaimed wood. The best part is, dog friendly and they serve food. I will say I was quite impressed with the service here. Because it is so small, they only keep one bartender at a time. On a Saturday night the place was poppin' and despite that, the gal was super friendly and on top of drink refills and staying attentive with the whole bar! And did I mention she also preps the food too?!? The gal was amazing. I can't even imagine having to juggle drinks and prepping the food orders! The menu is really small; only small appetizer plates and flatbread pizzas. We ordered these mini grilled cheese sandwiches, they called them "Mini Melts". We got the cheddar with rosemary bites and they were amazing. We also got the pretzel twist. It came with 2 different mustards. One was super spicy and I wasn't expecting it... I started sneezing like crazy, the spice was too much for my nose! Ha! I would've liked to have cheese dip as an option as well! Overall, great spot! Decent selection of local (and some not-so local) beers on tap! They also have wine, which was the main reason we selected The Dray. My friend is a wine drinker, so I had to chose a place to go besides a brewery! This was the best of both worlds!
google avatar

Michele K.

Yelp
Cute divey small spot and dog friendly. I can't remember the bartenders name but she has good vibes. Mostly IPAs and indoor and outdoor covered seating.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in while we were doing laundry. Great beer and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back! The bartender was great too!

Yelp
Good place to relax after work, dog-friendly, nice people.

Yelp
This is a cool narrow beer bar/pizza pub in Phinney Ridge! There is not a lot of space inside, which makes it actually come off as much more cozy and welcome. They have a good list of local beers on tap for reasonable prices. Definitely worth coming here during happy hour. They off a good variety of beer types from different breweries nearby, so you should be able to find something you like and something you have never had before. ... The pizza is tasty and actually pretty affordable. They cook it in a small pizza oven, and it comes out pretty quickly! Pizza is thin crust and they provide enough options even for those that are vegetarian. ... The service is friendly and pretty quick. There is definitely a benefit to it being a small and quaint location, not as many people to compete with to get the server's attention. This would be a good place to watch a game. with a small group of friends! If you are looking for your next watering hole that is not too crowded and offers a more relaxed and cozy atmosphere come check this place out! .. PS when I say it is narrow, I mean it. We actually walked into the wrong restaurant next door by accident! Make sure you enter the door with the sign by it!

Yelp
Solid find! Was walking by and stopped for a drink. All craft beers and a huge selection. The bar tender James was great! Fair prices. Recommend coming here if you're a fan of beer .
google avatar

Emma H.

Yelp
Came in for a drink while catching up on some work Saturday afternoon, good selection of beers, bar tender was really lovely and the place had a relaxing but also fun vibe! One of those rare places where you don't feel strange working whilst also enjoying an awesome happy hour beer!

Amy M.

Yelp
Delightful neighborhood hangout. And Kasha the bartender is the best listener and conversationalist ever.
google avatar

Makiah H.

Yelp
Came in here to meet a few friends in the afternoon, quiet spot would be a great place to work on your laptop during the day since they do have coffee as well for non drinkers. Open windows which is nice for fresh air. Hidden gem!

Yelp
It's tiny, parking can be something of an issue, and it's aimed squarely at the beer nerd. But I happily live with all those things. Their beer is well selected and well cared for. The food is really solidly considered and executed. The service is great, and the prices are fair. I personally tend to do most of my bar choosing based on being able to get a beer I have never tried, which makes me sort of a weirdo about picking bars. And odds are, the Dray rarely has anything I haven't tried (trust me, I'm also weird in the way of having tried way too many beers). But this place is easily cool enough that I keep coming back even if I don't know what's pouring.

Yelp
I was doing my laundry yesterday and stopped in this place to get a beer. I have been once before but I really enjoyed my time here. Alex is a cool bartender. I happened to have met the owner and he is very nice and welcomed me to Seattle and his bar. The patrons are friendly and I like the "dog friendly" environment. Dogs are people too! They make sandwiches too. I had a bacon and cheese sandwich that I shared with a patron. I will definetly be back and now I don't mind laundry day! I'm a fan!
google avatar

Rick P.

Yelp
This a really great small neighborhood pub with only a few, but great beers on tap. Their are new beers every time I visit. The bottled beer selection is amazing even though I have yet to order anything but beers on tap. There is not a lot of seating, but I have never had a problem getting a seat. The food was really good, but a bit on the expensive side. Overall this is my kind of place, small, nice ambiance, laid back atmosphere, great beers and good people. A word of warning however...if you are not a soccer fan, I personally would avoid this place during the World Cup or big soccer match days as it can get loud!
google avatar

Chuck G.

Yelp
I'm so happy I live within stumbling distance of the Dray. This is hands-down my favorite bar in Seattle. The tap list is always excellent, usually showing a strong representation of Northwest IPAs and Belgian ales. I like that the beers cycle quickly, so even if you go in two nights in a row, it won't be the same. But what really wins me over is the atmosphere of the place. You feel comfortable and cozy; the walls are done in lovely softwood; the tables are interesting slabs of tree-trunks; and it's neither too quiet nor too loud. The staff is super-knowledgeable but not pretentious. They occasionally play soccer on the TV, but otherwise the TVs aren't a big distraction. The music selection is generally tasteful (and not too loud) indie rock. Bonus points: free WiFi and dollar-off happy hour.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Does it get any better - awesome hazy IPA tap list, friendly staff and they allow dogs?!? LOVE DRAY!
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Cool place to have some good beer and catch a football game. It's a little snug inside which wasn't bad during the time that we went, but I could see if getting crowded rather quickly.
google avatar

Russ ..

Yelp
Nice place guys! The Dray is a warm cozy place to duck in for some tasty craft beer. With a constantly revolving selection of 12 beers on tap and a big bottle selection, there is always something to catch the eye. The atmosphere is great. It's well lit and open and the woodwork is nice. The sandwiches are tasty and the staff is friendly and courteous. C h e c k i t o u t

Donna A.

Yelp
Small and intimate, lively but I always find a seat. Great place to watch the game, just a few TVs placed to be easy to see wherever you are. Love that they're dog friendly.
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
Found this place while riding my bike on the hottest day of the summer... front windows open up to the outside for a breeze. The music is good and they offer a good beer selection, wine and coffee... all the goods. Perfect bar for happy hour or jumping on your computer exploring the interwebs.

Michael R.

Yelp
Beer bar (I use the term advisedly; if they had wine or liquor, I didn't see it) located in a nice section of town. Beautiful wood furnishings, and the roasted pork loin sandwich is superb. Limited menu, and if you're in the mood for a margarita or a Manhattan, you're in the wrong place, but what they do, they do very well.
google avatar

Kristin M.

Yelp
Love that they allow dogs in this place. It's very small. Expect to stand or share a table with someone if it's later in the evening. The patrons were very nice. We ordered two drinks and the sounder flat bread pizza. The pizza was delicious. I wish there were healthier food options, but for the size, I can understand the lack of kitchen space. I would definitely go back. I can only imagine how packed it gets for soccer games.
google avatar

Jairo B.

Yelp
This place is cute as fuck. Intimate space, solid tap list. Nice lady behind the bar, and some killer tunes! (nick cave, tom waits, morphine) definitely coming back.
google avatar

Martha T.

Yelp
Dog friendly, great beer, and awesome flatbreads. What more could you ask for?! Really cute place. Fast service, have definitely stopped in from time to time during lunch time. The Hawaiian pizza is my favorite. Definitely a great place to catch the game.
google avatar

Jason F.

Yelp
This place definitely falls well under the category of great hole in the wall beer stop. And, it's well known, meaning, you'll be lucky to get a seat if you stop after work. I didn't realize it when I was there, but definitely do from the photos on Yelp that dogs are allowed. Great place, can't wait to return.
google avatar

Michael V.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place. They are super pet friendly and they have a good beer list and a very decent flat bread. But it was the ambiance and the cool vibe for us and our dog that made it so nice.
google avatar

Abigail L.

Yelp
Mighty fine lower Phin/east 'Lard drinking roost, featuring... ! * La Chouffe * ! ! * Stone IPA * ! ! * Grilled Cheese* ! ! * WiFi* ! ! * More! * ! ! * MUCH more * ! Slide your smooth-ish booties onto their smooth pine stools to find out just what. Hint: rotating special-good beers that will please you. (Yes, also you.) But know this: if you're having grilled cheese, BYO ketchup. Ketchup counts! says me. Grilled cheese without ketchup tastes like despair. I'll check back and report on any condiment developments. Beer caliber steady. --------------------------------------------- UPDATE 4/22/08 Sources proclaim they now have ketchup! Rah.
google avatar

Tim O.

Yelp
I'm still trying to figure out how they fit all of those beers into such a small place. It's less of a factor of how small the place is but more of their massive beer selection. Don't forget to order at the bar, because waiting at your table will be a lesson in futility.
google avatar

Naurry K.

Yelp
Here is the tale of my foray, Into a Ballard pub, Interesting named The Dray. Ordering one, two, then a round, Wasn't enough to get over the ski lodge feel, With the wood that surround. Their offerings of food was slim, Unlike their menu of beer, Surmounted to pieces of bread encapsulating somethin'. I fail to hold this place dear, But I doth remember, The Tin Hat is near.
google avatar

Dan B.

Yelp
Imagine if you will a magical world where you could drink coffee in the morning, amazing beer all day long and pass out in the bathroom under the loving eye of a giant drinking squirrel. I wish I knew a place like that...
google avatar

Chelsea J.

Yelp
I really like this place! They have several beers on tap and a limited food menu. We shared the turkey sandwich which was solid. We agreed it could have had a bit more flavor but it was all in all pretty good. $9 for the sandwiches with a small side salad or fries. I was surprised they didn't have a vegetarian option for a sandwich and had three meat sandwiches. The menu included flat breads, a soft pretzel, and some small bites in addition to the sandwiches. They are dog friendly! We all enjoyed our beers. They seem to be IPA heavy but this could have been due to the fact that it was Seattle Beer Week. This would be a great place to return for an intimate, low-key date.

Libby C.

Yelp
A-ok. Stopped here the other night for some drinks. It's a cozy place that clearly has a lot of regulars. The food smelled delicious but I will not try it as I am one of the few Seattle residents to think that dogs don't belong in places where food is served. Nothing is more gross than seeing a server pet a dog then go back around the bar and grab food to serve to customers. They are health codes in the city that don't allow dogs in restaurants for this very reason, but as we all know some places ignore this. I had to walk over two large dogs to get to a table. I did have a nice glass of wine and my husband enjoyed his beer. Service was so-so, it appeared to be much better for the regulars, I don't think I'll return. I do enjoy their sister restaurant in Greenwood The Yard, and will go back there.

Yelp
This place has two things I love: Cider and Dogs! I came in here after reading a review from a fellow yelper and she recommended a cider for me to try. I was very excited to check this place out and try this new tasty cider she raved about. When I got there I didn't find it on the menu. I either over looked it or it wasn't in rotation. Nonetheless I got the Ace Apple Cider which was delicious. It's on the sweet side, which is something I like but I know it's not a priority for all. It came in this glass mug that was smaller than a pint glass. Perfect size for me. In addition to that, you can bring your dogs here!! I walked in and was greeted by this big, sweet, chocolate lab named Mr. Mocha. I got a lot of love, which made my day! I love that Seattle has more of these types of bars popping up. It's great to be able to grab a drink with your furry friend and enjoy the company of other people's dogs. This place doesn't serve food, but I believe you're allowed to bring outside food in. They also serve coffee and hot cocoa! There was a pretty good list of beers on the menu. I'm not a beer drinker but the people I were with liked what they ordered. The bartender was very nice and helpful with picking a drink.
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
I love The Dray. I always feel like an insecure teenager when I walk in because it's such a tiny joint and everyone seems to be BFFs, but my anxiety usually settles down after a drink. The little rosemary melts are delicious. So simple and delicate; they're the perfect bite. Add a beer for complete happiness.
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
Limited food menu is not a joke. It is just three sandwiches (Tuna, Grilled Cheese, and one other I don't remeber). I was scoping this place out as a place to take the wife and kids for dinner sometime. I won't be doing that. But I will be enjoying fine ales. There is a great selection of beers on tap and a better selection of bottled beers. It has a weird vibe of being a coffee house crossed with a pub. But it works. The small quaint environment is conducive to conversation and with a cool beer in your hand and a nice breeze coming in from the open garage windows you don't want to leave.
google avatar

Bri B.

Yelp
I just moved from Greenlake to Phinney and I know deep down on a subconscious level it's so that I can be closer to The Dray. Being that I love a good beer, but don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to picking them out, I appreciate the friendly staff that don't make me feel like an idiot because I don't know about beer. This is a great place to go if you're with people that do know about beer but you don't want to hang out someplace as dingy as the Stumbling Monk or as crowded as Brouwer's. I'm big on atmosphere and the head to toe wood panels and the subtle squirrel theme make me feel like I could hang out there all day. They have great food as well, and the portions aren't too big. I often find myself dreaming about their salami sandwich. Thank goodness I now live only a 10 minute walk away from this place!
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
The Dray is the sort of place that I was instantly smitten with, as a beer geek, a fan of small local places, and a former Ballard resident. In fact, I was ever so sad that The Dray didn't exist when I lived in Ballard. The tap list is small, but very diverse and well-chosen. The food is simple - just panini - but that doesn't even begin to describe the love & quality they put into these sandwiches. The "turkey jam" panini I ate was OMFG tasty - roasted turkey, white cheddar, and bacon jam. Yeah, you heard that right, bacon muthafrackin' jam. I mean, I watched the bartender actually making pesto from scratch in between pulling pints & espresso shots. Oh yeah, you didn't know they served coffee here, too? Hells yeah, with Stumptown beans, and they do it right. I also love the cozy size and woodsy-ness of the pub, and the quirky squirrel motif they have going on (even though having an impressionistic squirrel-drinking-a-beer mural in the bathroom at eye level while you're trying to pee may cause you to believe you are drunker than you actually are...) The vast collection of stickers plastered over the cooler door provide a few chuckles as well (sample: "I'm sorry my mustache is so bad ass.") The staff are awesome, and I consider the Dray a new favorite haunt whenever I'm in Seattle.
google avatar

Maggie W.

Yelp
Eh. The inside of this place had a lot of potential, and the reviews are true... other than the bartender I was the only female in the place! I was also a little put off when the bartender got down on the floor (like sat down in the middle of the bar on the floor) and played with someones puppy (yes it was an incredibly, irresistibly, adorable puppy) and then proceeded to head right back behind the bar and continue serving the customers... never even bothered to stop and wash her hands. We closed out our tab and will try one of the other handful of bars in this area.
google avatar

Brandon J.

Yelp
Unassuming bar on 65th. For me it fits that niche that exists somewhere between the Tin Hat and the Gaol (although I am a fan of the Gaol). Since I am gluten-free, it's hard to go here and stare at the long beer list. I opted for wine on my first visit, since hard alcohol was not available. It was on my SECOND visit that I noticed, nearly halfway from the top of the beer list, I spied a GLUTEN-FREE beer. A GF beer that I had never heard of! Green's was the name, and I ordered one quickly. As far as I know, The Dray is the ONLY bar in Seattle that has a gluten-free beer option. This alone will bring me back to The Dray, this curious niche-filling bar just a few blocks stumble from my home.
google avatar

Derek M.

Yelp
Oh, Dray--it's okay to call you that, and leave out the "The," right? good--how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... on second thought, let's not count them, because your beer list is too long to fit in this review. I discovered this place the day after I moved to Ballard. I've spent the better part of June and July here watching the World Cup. I love a bar where I can get a pint, and a double espresso along with a breakfast sandwich. It's like being at home, minus the part where it's sad to drink a pint at home, alone, at 7:00 a.m. on a Tuesday. For some reason, doing it with other people around makes it okay. I've come in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Even though the space is small, it's still comfy with plenty of seating, and a sort of community atmosphere. Expect to talk to the person next to you at the bar, because the people who come here are friendly, and likely share your interest in "the beautiful game." I'm also not joking about the amount of beer this place offers. They have a bottle list of over 100 beers, and rotating handles in the sense that when a keg is out its replacement is something completely different. This means that a beer you fall in love with one day may break your heart the next day when you discover it has run out on you and been replaced. It also forces you to try something new. Ask to sample something and you'll get a taste before you buy. I love that! The sandwiches are delicious and decently priced. I've tried a few of them and they hit the spot. The staff is friendly and attentive. All the bartenders are also baristas, so just because they're only pouring beer and wine doesn't mean they don't know how to make a drink. The only downside is they don't offer pitchers. That's not much of a complaint, just get a growler and ask for four glasses. The pricing structure makes the 4th beer free! P.S Free Wifi. P.P.S. This place is dog friendly. I personally appreciate seeing dogs in here from time to time, but I know that dogs in a bar can be a deal-breaker for some.

Yelp
This is a cozy little bar right down the street from my new place, and let's just say I'm more than excited to have The Dray as a new neighbor. Tucked away in a small sliver of real estate on 65th, this place has it all. - Good wines by the glass - I had a delicious Vinho Verde the last time. - Great rotating list local and regional microbrews. - Due to the almost non-existent. kitchen, they only serve grilled sandwiches and small sides. This is not a bad thing, as they are delicious. - They have a few TVs, which I've never seen not turned to anything other than MLS or International Soccer. Catch King County Metro #28 on 8th Ave NW to and from The Dray for easy transit access.

Yelp
I don't drink any more, but if I did (and if I liked beer) I would probably call this place my second home. The menu is actually super delish, and all their sammies are made with excellent bread. Great atmosphere, and you gotta love the football (soccer for you Americans) games on TV 24/7! Pleasant bartender too.

Yelp
I work down the street from The Dray, and I can tell you we needed it! beer and cider, snacks, delicious sandwiches, AND Stumptown Coffee! Thank you! You really ARE a workhorse! Kids allowed til 9 pm!

Yelp
Cozy spot for watching futball... er... I mean soccer. Great flatbread pizza & extensive beer list to go with good footy.

Yelp
Can I give the Dray a 6-Star review? Because that is what they deserve. Granted, I'm no regular but I've been in a handful of times- and every time have been totally pleased with the chill, laid back but friendly attitude, and delicious beer options on tap. However the last time I was in, the Dray and the people who staff it, totally won my heart. Came in about a month and a half ago, with an old high school friend and her family from out of town. I wanted to meet up in a place that was chill, where we could casually snack, sip a beer or two and hang for a while and catch up. We actually intended to go to another place close to the Dray (the Blue Glass, ahem) but the friends came with a young high school aged son in tow, so the first place kicked us out. Next stop was the Dray, where we were warmly greeted, and took our seat in the front corner, Just as I realized that we should order at the bar, but friends did not, and waved the bartender over. No matter, the young man who was working the bar took it all in stride, and came over with waters and totally made everyone feel welcome (what no curled lip and rolled eyes from a handsome hipster?) and right at home. He took our order at the table, not once making anyone feel stupid or simple or out of place. We ordered a handful of appetizers, as that was the only option at the time, some ice teas for the ma and son, and beer and cider for the dad and me. We stayed long, probably too long for how little we ordered, but again, the bartender and bar-back just smiled and took our plates. The out of towner friends LOVED the place, and I enjoyed spending some time with folks I hadn't seen in 15 years. The vibe, good food and amazing customer service really sweetened the whole experience. And I tell ya, I will be back, solo, with friends, anytime I can think of- Thanks Dray, for being so close to my house, for having a great environment to meet friends in, and for rockin' it with charm and kindness without a hint of swagger. You. Da. Bomb.

Yelp
The location (for me) makes this place almost perfect. I would say that it's awesome... just not super awesome. It's a bit new feeling for me. Basically, I just want to drink amazing beer in a dark, wood filled, whole in the wall bar, with lots of character and charm. There is wood, only not dark and it's nice inside... not many dust balls blowing around the joint. Don't get me wrong, the place is great. I just think it will be even greater in a few years. I love the beer selection. It usually takes me 15 minutes to decide on what to drink. The bartenders are good at helping you out. I've definately come in with very specific request and they have been able to limit the list of over a hundred to about 3 or 4. That's pretty awesome. For example, you could walk in and say, "I'd like something aged in an oak barrel, something on the strong side (about 8ish), and similar to a belgian sour or bruin" and they'd have more than one option... awesome. I'll take one of each please. They also have Stumptown espresso drinks and don't serve de-caf... which is pretty amazing. Writing about beer makes me want one... I gotta go.

Yelp
I found The Dray thanks to one of my favorite blogs Orangette and I thought - this sounds too good to be true: incredible beer selection, sandwiches, in my neighborhood and will show the Tour de France. What more do I need? So I took my husband yesterday and because I rocked his world with The Dray he actually went to an antiques store with me after. Need I say more people? The Dray is a cozy wood bar that is polished and warm in feel - not necessarily rustic. One of the large front windows was open when I was there giving me hope for summer days and knowing this bar would be great then too. Our bar gal was incredibly nice and easily chatt-able and gave us great suggestions and a few samples of beer. Our afternoon passed calmly - sigh.... I love The Dray. 1. Great beer selection - I mean, it's huge! 2. Tasty sandwiches and they serve them late too. 3. You can buy a jug-o-beer (growler) for $20 and give it to your friends as cool birthday presents!

Yelp
Having had three alcoholics in my life, bars have never been on my "places I enjoy" list. The Dray however, is different. The atmosphere is comfortable, the food is genuinely good, the beer list is long and filled with treasures, and there are plenty of options for me: latte, dry soda, etc. I've been dragged into a great many bars, this one I go to happily!
