The Duchy - Düsseldorf

Now it's one of my favourite places in Düsseldorf. I adore the way people treat you when you enter the restaurant: very friendly, caring, attentive. The menu is quite big, exquisite. I took the oysters and lobster soup. Unfortunately, it was rather spicy for me because of ginger. If you can't stand spicy dishes, tell the waiter to remove all spicy ingredients. Otherwise, it would be really spicy. I enjoyed the atmosphere most of all: quite, aestetically wonderful place. I will surely explore desserts.

The restaurant exudes beauty and elegance, perfectly set within a luxurious hotel. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet inviting, making it the kind of place where dressing up feels just right. Service was truly top-notch—the staff were professional, attentive, and ensured I was always well looked after. Dinner was exquisitely presented, fresh, and full of flavor. While on the pricier side, it was absolutely worth it. The Viennese Schnitzel was among the best—if not the best—I’ve ever had, and I’ve dined around the world. The fresh pasta was equally impressive, simple yet bursting with flavor.

Extremely disappointing experience. The service was far below expectations — we had to wait over 40 minutes between the starters and the main course, with no explanation or apology from the staff. Throughout the meal, we constantly had to call the waiter just to get basic attention, which made the whole experience frustrating. The lack of organization and care for customers was very obvious. For the prices they charge, the service should be much better. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this

Delicious food - the balance in every dish is outstanding. Rich, hearty, yet fresh and light. Attentive, warm, and delightful service. I plan to be back here soon!

I was looking for a place for lunch after shopping, and this spot turned out to be the perfect choice. Impeccable service, an interesting menu, and even a special insert about the sourcing of the products. I had the lobster soup and the Caviar Carbonara — both were absolutely delicious. Bravo!

The Duchy is located in the ornate Breidenbacher hotel. Cuisine was the closest to a restaurant in France or Italy with not every vegetable sautéed in butter. The risotto lobster was sublime, the service was attentive with a smile. Was a pleasure and definitely worth a revisit especially for their extensive red wine selection.

My trip was brightened by a wonderful visit to this lovely restaurant. I absolutely love the attention to detail — the service was friendly and polite. I was there with my daughter, and it’s very kid-friendly. I will definitely visit again on my next trip to Düsseldorf! Thank u!

Overall, it was a great experience from the time I entered the restaurant until I left. I started with a nice glass of Tattinger Champaign and had the opportunity to chat with "the Duchy," who is the well styled hostess. She explained the ideas and history behind the restaurant theme. It was a nice conversation, and as I was dining alone, welcomed. They start the service by bringing out two types of bread with salted butter. Both breads were nice - potato bread and bread with apple and black pudding (sausage). I selected the steak tartar as my starter. The meat was very good quality, and the mix of ingredients was tasty. For the main course, I chose the beef rib, which was accompanied by a tomato salad. The steak was very well cooked and seasoned - which was a first for me in Germany. For the desert, it was black cherries with a warm chocolate cake and sunflower ice cream. All was good, especially the ice cream. This restaurant is expensive and a bit of an indulgence, but it used local top quality ingredients and was exceptional. I would certainly recommend it.
