The 25 Best New Dishes Of 2024 - New York - The Infatuation

"Duck and cherries have a lock on a bridge in Paris somewhere—and they also have a lock on Le Veau d’Or’s menu. The duck here is rosier than a nose in a Puffs tissue commercial, with perfectly rendered skin and a little tingle from white pepper. Paired with cherries that are sweet and boozy, it’s an absolute must-order on a menu full of must-orders. Le Veau d'Or releases reservations online at 9am, two weeks in advance. According to the restaurant, walk-ins are only accepted on the "super rare occasion" of a no-show or last-minute cancellation. Up front, there's a five-seat bar, where they've recently started offering a la carte dishes. The bar can usually only accommodate walk-ins on the earlier side, before it's filled with parties waiting on their tables. It's easier to get a reservation for more than two people, and we've had good luck using notifications." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah

We booked a second visit right as we paid for our first, as we enjoyed it so much. The staff and their service is great, they make you feel like family. They accommodated our white wine request and recommended a lovely white wine that I will try and find when I get back to Australia. The confit de canard is delicious and the cassoulet was fantastic (large serving), on our second visit we had the Magret canard and the Tagliatelle which were lovely. We will definitely be back for the great service and the amazing food. Sadly, we do not have enough days in Paris to try everything on the menu but we have had a good attempt.

We had a very nice meal the waiter is very friendly and accommodating. The starters were good and the desert with an Armagnac on the side was delicious. But for the main course was very disappointing. The duck confit was extremely dry and the Parmentier that was suggested as being a specialty in the house was 90% mashed potato and 9% duck. The amount of duck in the dish was nothing. Overall it felt like both main dishes were created in the morning and heated up in the oven including the fried potatoes.., draining any juice out of the confit. Being a restaurant that specializes in duck I was expecting something fresh, juicy and delicious... Expectations not met = 3 stars for the great service and cute restaurant.

Very friendly atmosphere, the staff is polite and helpful, the food is very tasty an well served. Everything we tried here was good! The duck is the best duck I've ever tasted. They offer many varieties of duck dishes as their name also suggests. Inside it's like a typical Parisian bistrot with small tables, friendly vibes and a lot of wood decorations in the french style.

Great staff and food. Table was a little small but not a big problem. They were helpful in setting up the umbrella since it was drizzling when we just sat down. Go for the steak. Cooked to absolute perfection and definitely one of the best and most tender steak I've tasted this far. Tried the duck was not too bad either but definitely the steak for me hands down. Ended with a complimentary prune cognac (I believe)

Went as part of our anniversary trip to Paris. Excellent service (the chef created a special salad for my vegetarian wife), delicious food, lovely atmosphere! Definitely try the cassoulet and confit de canard, which we did. Also, the pruneaux with armagnac is to die for :-). The owners even helped me figure out where to buy the drink, to take home to LA. :-)

All about the duck! We went here last night and had an amazing meal. Started off with an aperitif suggested by the waiter, which was light and bubbly. I ordered the nightly special, which was a duck and pasta dish consisting of smoked duck, duck breast, and foie gras. My girlfriend had the duck with honey sauce. Both were incredible. The pasta dish was creamy and light. The foie gras was absolutely the star of the show, and we 100 per cent suggest trying it at least once. The pasta was fresh, and overall, it was just a perfect dish and perfect portion size. The honey glazed duck was cooked to perfection, and we were wiping up the sauce with bread because it was just that good. The potatoes and salad on the side were also very tasty. We finished the meal with the creme brulee, which was so rich, smooth, and creamy. Then the waiter gave us a prune digestive shot, which was also delicious. The three waiters were very professional and charismatic. We felt very tended to the entire time and never had to wait for service. The small restaurant made for a very cosy and intimate atmosphere, definitely a spot for duos. Overall, a must go restaurant when in paris, the quality of the food is beyond imagination, and the immaculate service ensures that this place will be recommended by us to anyone planning to visit Paris.

Awesome food, the duck confit was delicious as well as the escargot and Bayonne ham. Reminds of a mom and pop place a small restaurant and they took great pride in their product.

Great experience last night with amazing food from the southwest. Amazing duck confit and cassoulet. That special ham is very yummy. Very warm and funny owner/chef. Our waiter was also great. I’m returning this Saturday for second for lunch. Merci.
