The 36 Essential Indianapolis Restaurants

"They serve up some of the best fried chicken at the Eagle, and it comes out of a pressure cooker. While the cooking method results in a different bird than you’ll find at most places, the technique has whole chickens selling all day long. You can also order a half or quarter chicken, but on your first visit, try the fried chicken sandwich: a simple formula of breaded chicken breast, topped with coleslaw and pickles, on a toasted bun that lets the bird shine. Be sure to try the hot honey on your chicken, along with sides that include greens, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, fries, specialty spoon bread, and more.  You will not be disappointed." - Mike Gillis

What an awesome place! Our server, Logan, was fantastic—genuinely kind and attentive. He truly turned our experience around and saved the day. We were honestly on the verge of leaving due to a rocky start, but thanks to him, we ended up having a wonderful meal. The food was outstanding. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned, and the hot honey was a standout—sweet, spicy, and absolutely delicious. The mac and cheese was rich and flavorful, and dipping the biscuits into the cheese sauce! WOW! Pure comfort food bliss. The Bourbon Punch cocktail was also a hit—refreshing, well-balanced, and generously sized. Just to give some context: we arrived at The Eagle around 3 PM on a hot and sunny day with our 1.5-month-old granddaughter and a party of six. We asked the host to seat us at a specific outdoor table that was shaded, but the initial interaction wasn’t ideal and made us feel unwelcome. Thankfully, our server completely changed the tone of our visit, and we’re so glad we stayed.

I’ve seen one of these restaurants in Pittsburgh and wanted to try it, but never got the chance. So, when in this area and seeing they had one and the reviews were really good, I went in. I sat at the bar during lunch and they weren’t busy at all. They feature a menu which centers around their fried chicken, they have related sides, and sandwiches too. I opted for a ¼ chicken dark meat, which actually comes with 2 legs and a thigh for $10, which I thought was a great deal for a “restaurant” style fried chicken. I also ordered a side of cole slaw with it. The fried chicken was excellent! The meat was very moist and flavorful and I loved the breading too, which was very light. It comes with their hot honey, which actually had a nice little kick to it and was a nice compliment to the chicken. Their cole slaw was excellent! Made with light mayo which seemed to be mixed with vinegar and large slices of cabbage – nicely seasoned, it was great! Service provided was excellent too! Highly recommend stopping in!!

Visited for Mother’s Day with reservation. No wait & was seated in a private room with one other table so it was really nice for our party of 11. Unique decor & noise was minimal. Server was great & was really nice. Large selection of beer & cider; the apricot martini was excellent. Short wait for food. Average serving size given; you can split the sides with 2 people given your appetite. Definitely try the grits. They serve hot honey to drizzle over your fried chicken if you want. The fried chicken was good but can’t top the fried chicken made in Oldenburg, IN. So it’s 4 stars for the food.

Great vibe, Good Food, Minor Letdown We celebrated my birthday at The Eagle tonight, drawn in by its reputation for having the best fried chicken in Indy — especially the dinner with five chicken legs, my all-time favorite since childhood. The atmosphere was exactly what I hoped for: casual, laid back, and relaxed. We sat at a picnic table outside, where blues music played just loud enough to mask the sound of rush hour traffic. It set a perfect tone. Our server, Luke, was excellent — helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the hush puppies, which were hot, crisp, and very tasty. For our entrees, I ordered the 5-leg chicken dinner, and my husband went with the half chicken. We shared the mac & cheese as a side, which was rich and creamy — definitely a win. Shortly after placing our order, Luke returned to let us know they were running low on legs due to an extra busy Indy 500 weekend. Unfortunately, they couldn’t fulfill my 5-leg order, but they offered a 1/4 chicken dinner instead (which came with 2 legs and a thigh). Understandable, but still a bit of a letdown — especially from a restaurant known for chicken. Luke handled it professionally, and I appreciated the explanation. Cocktails were a highlight: my husband is a Maker’s Mark & Coke guy, and he was impressed with the strength and pour. I had the spiked lemonade, and it was refreshing and well-balanced. Overall: ✔ Great vibe and atmosphere ✔ Excellent service ✔ Delicious sides and drinks ✘ Slight disappointment with limited chicken availability — on my birthday, no less! We’d definitely go back.

My wife and I had been hearing about this place from friends for quite a while so we finally got the opportunity to try them out. Our server was pretty good and made some suggestions to save us some money based on our individual orders. We tried as many things on the menu as we wanted to try. The chicken was very well seasoned and good, the shrimp and grits was excellent, we got cornbread individually cause we BOTH love cornbread and it didn't disappoint. The greens, Mac 'n cheese were fine. Overall a great experience AND the hot honey, wooo hoooo be ready! Check em out if you haven't and go back if it's been awhile

This place was amazing. The waiter was exceptional. The atmosphere is casual and laid back. The hush puppies were fire. I liked the chicken blt sandwich the best but the herb chicken was very good. Highly recommend 💚💯💯

First off, this was my first visit. The bartender/server, Elizabeth was very welcoming and took time to explain some of the favorites from the menu. Everything is a la mode. So I got the hush puppies, (amazing with or without the sauce)…. The 1/4 dark meat chicken (this has a texture comparable to an original recipe KFC) while I did like the spicy hot honey with the chicken, I preferred it without. In my opinion, it hindered the actually flavor of the seasoning on the chicken. Next, the cornbread seemed to be the same recipe as the hush puppies… so if you’d rather have baked than fried, you’re in for a treat. But, I wouldn’t have gotten both if I would have known that. The Mac and cheese was a hit. Not too thick, not too thin. (It’s hard for me to find Mac and cheese a consider acceptable.) 🤣 overall, a great experience! The food was served very quickly and everyone was very pleasant. Great job!

Google
First mistake was going there on a Sunday, during a huge convention in town. Parking was brutal, but ended up walking about a block in the rain. The wait was about 50 minutes and there is no where to stand inside the restaurant to wait. With all of that said, the food was very good, chicken was flavorful throughout, and mac & cheese was very good. Glad we made the stop.

Yelp
Frequenter of this establishment. Always love the food and service! Stephanie was attentive and made sure we weren't lacking anything. I'll be back as always!

Yelp
Stephanie was so amazing and just delight gave us all the recommendations! Love this place!

Yelp
First time visiting the eagle in a while. Was greeted by our incredible bartender Steph who made the whole experience one of a kind. Food came out quick, amazing per usual and Steph made sure we always had drinks and were having the best time. 100/10.

Yelp
Great sandwiches today!! The Chicken BLT was fantastic!!! The Herb Chicken sandwich was also great!! Service was fantastic! Raelee, you were awesome! Pleasant and attentive! Great representation of customer service! We sat outside today as it was a beautiful day in Indy!! Thanks for making our day so nice!

Yelp
A cute, easy, clean place in downtown Indy that won't break the bank. We sat at the bar near the outside patio area and were helped by the really nice bartender. The menu is straight forward. We ordered the 5 legs, a small southern chopped salad, and the grits. The legs had SUCH a great flavor and they came with a delicious hot honey. The southern chopped salad was fresh and perfectly dressed. The grits were the star of the show. Spicy, full of juicy shrimp, and just really really good flavor. Definitely recommend. Though, to elevate my experience, I would've loved my draft beer to have been colder and out of a cold glass. All around, a GREAT experience here.

Yelp
The food was great! I had the 1/4 Chicken and shared multiple sides with my family including collard greens, sweet potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. I'd highly recommend putting the spicy honey on the chicken, but the chicken did what it needed to do all on its own! It was both juicy and crispy. The Eagle is fast casual but gives a very down to earth feel. I only gave it a 4/5 because service was lacking a bit. It seemed as though the restaurant was short staffed. When we requested serving spoons for the sides, the waiter never brought them. Thankfully I went with my family so we didn't mind sharing silverware. Additionally, the wait was bit longer than expected. Despite the cons, the food more than made up for it!

Yelp
Great spot for southern food at an affordable price in Indy. The ambience is warm and cozy with an intimate feeling while also offering the opportunity to meet new people at your table. This place has something for everyone with great grilled cheese to fries chicken sandwiches! Cocktails are great and we love their Bloody Mary! Service is usually good. Still butthurt that they did away with the Apple coleslaw sloppy Joe

Yelp
This place is interesting, not the biggest menu, plenty of chicken options though. Came a few times for a dinner date with a friend. The ambiance inside is ok but the outdoor seating on the corner is nice. The picnic tables are a bit awkward though and have u leaning way in to the table to eat . The chicken legs are really delicious and fresh. They need more sauce options though. A lot of the menu items are very spicy so if u don't like heat maybe not ur pace. The chicken dip especially is hot asf The serving staff here for some reason has been pretty slow each time we came, not sure if they are always understaffed or just had bad experiences when we went unfortunately.

Yelp
The Eagle has been a staple of mine when craving some fried chicken. Whether sitting inside or on the patio the atmosphere is always good. But I personally love the middle bar room - great for people watching if it's too hot outside. Whether I'm getting fried chicken or the fried chicken sandwich it's always hot and fresh. Can't go wrong with any of the sides too. The sandwiches don't come with a side which is a little bit of a bummer so it's an add on, but again the portion for the price isn't bad. Also a decent beer selection and cocktails - whatever you want!

Yelp
We were welcomed and sat on the patio. Our drink order was taken. The BLT with grilled chicken was delicious. It was flavorful all the way through. The greens were robust with flavor. The mashed were creamy and the gravy was yummy. The grilled cheese was unique, I think it needed to be a little more melted. The grits had a pop of something making them u pique. The spoonbread was DELICIOUS. This melted in your mouth and was like a warm dessert.

Yelp
I truly enjoying eating at the Eagle. I've been several times and each time I enjoy it. The chicken has a really good spice combination on it. The Mac n cheese keeps me coming back! The fries are also quite delicious. I ordered shrimp and grits which was also really good but the chicken is keeps us returning! Park on the street it has meters. The ambiance is chill and laid back.

Yelp
Great spot down on Mass Ave. Went on a Friday night before going over to Chatterbox and it was packed!!! Luckily got 3 spots at the bar in the back. Great service considering how slammed the bartender was. I've been here multiple times and tried multiple things and it's all great! I think the chicken legs are the best deal on the menu, you get 5 for $12! And they are incredible. If you like southern sweet tea they also have that! Pairs great with their chicken. Friday I got the Fried Chicken BLT and really enjoyed it. I don't think you can go wrong on their menu.

Yelp
I finally made it out to The Eagle, which has been on my list for a while. I came on a Thursday night around 7:30 and it was somewhat busy, my friend and I sat at the bar/patio area and got seats right away but it looked like some larger parties had to wait. The Eagle seems to specialize in fried chicken, as these types of items comprise much of the menu. I ordered... Fried chicken sandwich ($12): a well seasoned tired chicken cutlet with spicy mayo and coleslaw. 10/10, I am not a coleslaw person at all but this sandwich made me like it! Fries ($5, a la carte): the serving of fries is huge, and nice and crispy. Not the hottest fries ever but still delicious. House lemonade ($4): this is where the review loses a star because it was just a lemonade from a syrup/soda tap and not a fresh in-house lemonade, as I was kind of expecting. Maybe it's just a misnomer, but as a native southerner I was hoping for that same kind of fresh lemonade. Overall I did enjoy my experience at The Eagle and certainly look forward to my next visit!

Yelp
Very laid back vibe at lunch. Very slow but it's Monday and downtown is dead. Food came out super quick but rather cool, definitely not piping hot. Pretty sure fries and chicken were sitting for a quite some time before getting expedited to the table. It's been awhile since I have eaten here but just didn't do it for me as it used to I really was hoping for that amazing comfort food feeling. Dark Meat 1

Yelp
Very friendly when you walk in the door. They took our name and it was a 40 minute wait. Not too bad for all the St. Patrick's Day activities going on at Mass Avenue. The macaroni and cheese with shrimp and chicken was definitely my favorite. I would not get the chicken BLT again. There was not much flavor to it and there was enough lettuce to have your own side salad. That macaroni n cheese with shrimp was fire! It's a little noisy, but it was very clean and we sat in a back room with a large party. There was a TV in that room so that was kind of nice for the kids OK, the adults too lol. Not a very extensive menu. Mainly a few sandwiches a few salads and lots of drinks options. I feel like this is a good place just to meet friends and have a light meal with drinks. I saw they had shrimp and grits on the menu. I will definitely try that my next visit.

Yelp
This place was AWESOME! It was a Saturday afternoon around 6pm when we arrived. We were told the bar seating area was open or there was a 45 min wait for tables. Not that I like waiting but when there's a wait, I start to assume it must be good cause there's so many people. This was a good sign. I had looked at the menu previously and had done some research so we ordered the chicken sandwich, mac and cheese with shrimp, and 1/4 chicken (dark meat) which came with two legs and a thigh (FYI: white meat is a chicken breast and a wing). I'd like to point out that our food came out super quick. Keep in mind the place was packed! Everything looked amazing but I do want to mention that the food looks way bigger in pictures. I was imagining having to bring some food home but we finished it all and were satisfied. Let's start with the chicken sandwich. I had read in several reviews that it lacked a sauce but I think they had since corrected that because it did have a spread. I still went ahead and ordered a side of comeback sauce which tasted like mayo and ketchup but with a hint of Dijon mustard maybe. The chicken was flavorful and juicy with a light crispy outside. I wish there was a bit more coleslaw and that it was sweeter to balance the savoriness of the chicken. The breast was soft. Next, the Mac and cheese. The pasta was cooked al dente, so perfect. The cheese sauce was good but I wish it was drowning in it rather than just lightly coated. I was not too impressed with the shrimp as it was bland. So overall this was my least favorite but I think it was still a good option. The chicken was really good. It was well marinated and a perfect amount of saltiness. The skin is crispy but it's not a hard crispy, it's a subtle one. The meat is juicy and tender. I tried it with the hot honey but I kind of think the flavor of the chicken is enough and it doesn't need the hot honey. And yes, as the name implies, it does taste like spicy honey. The inside is spacious and looks clean. I imagine the outdoor seating is nice in the warmer months. It also is downtown so it's a good place to eat at and walk around after (depending on the climate).

Yelp
The eagle is just right EVERY time. I genuinely crave their Mac n cheese with chicken and the kale salad. One of my favorite meals in Indy! My partner always goes with the fried chicken and absolute loves it. They also have a hot honey to drizzle over your food- SO good! I love their blackberry lemonade and my partner gets the $3 miller high life chalice. Can't beat that deal! Servers are always kind there and it is truly the perfect spot to have a good meal and drink outside downtown. Will always be one of our go-tos.

Yelp
The Eagle was a great place. Took my granddaughter there for a pre-game dinner before a Fever game. The restaurant has a great vibe with many high top tables and a nice patio for outdoor seating. The food was really good. We had hush puppies as an appetizer and a grilled cheese and chicken BLT for dinner with mac and cheese and fries as sides and all were very good. Portions were good size so we had plenty to take home for a later meal. They also had a very solid beer and drink selection. Everyone that worked at Eagle were very friendly and our server was very attentive to our needs. I would definitely recommend the Eagle.

Yelp
This Mac and cheese was to die for!! You can tell it's homemade with lots of difference cheeses. The chicken also reminded me of Nashville hot which was just delicious. Very affordable for the quality of food too. I also highly recommend eating on the patio on Mass Ave.

Yelp
We stumbled into this place while visiting Indy and it was AMAZING! The hostess at the front not only was great but as I left the restaurant she called me by name! That was impressive. The food was NEXT level. The fried chicken was great but the serving it with spicy honey forever change the way I'll eat fried chicken. The hush puppy appetizer was incredible and the Mac and Cheese was next level. The sides are ordered to share family style. Our server Raley was so helpful and attentive. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Indy and wanting southern comfort food! The vibe is in a very cool part of downtown and the atmosphere is very trendy and laid back casual.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered takeout on a Saturday night. The order was ready and waiting at the host stand at the time they said it would be. When picking up, I was greeted promptly and was able to quickly pick up my food. I live about 15 minutes away and the food was still hot when I ate it. I always get the Kale Salad here. It is simply delicious. I'm not the biggest "salad girl" but I love this one! I also had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. It very good. Not too spicy, but had a flavor to it. The slaw on top is good. My husband and I got a side of Mac and Cheese to share as well. The size is appropriate for sharing. We both really enjoy this here. Pretty cheesy and the breadcrumbs on top is a nice touch.

Yelp
We bring family visiting from out of town here all the time! The eagle is ALWAYS a good idea! There has not been a group we brought in that has not enjoyed the food, ambience and service. The staff and Managers here care about your experience and go the extra mile to show you are valued. Needless to say you have customers for LIFE!
google avatar

Yelp
Gosh the food is dreamy! I had the grilled cheese with green apple and apricot jam along with white cheddar grits but it was spicy for me so I traded it with my partner for succotash. He had the grilled chicken sandwich. The service was little slow but alright. The ambiance is very cozy but elegant at the same time! I def recommend I'll come back!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to The Eagle before but not this location. This restaurant has a lively and fun vibe and ambiance, along with good service and the great tasting menu items that I was expecting from The Eagle. The fried chicken was freshly prepared and hot and had great crunch and flavor.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
A classic on mass ave, especially their corn bread. Def visit if you're craving fried chicken. The pairing of their spicy sweet syrup sauce with the fried chicken is super good. Their kale salad was also surprisingly really good! This place does get packed at times but that's a given as it is a popular place with good food.

Anya B.

Yelp
The service wasn't amazing given how slow the night was, but the food was worth it. We got 1/2 a fried chicken, split a BLT with chicken, and an order of spoon bread. I'd skip the BLT next time and get a whole chicken.

Yelp
I was in town for work and after a super long day, I was looking forward to ordering some take out and relaxing in my hotel room. That's when I did a search for delivery and to my surprise The Eagle popped up. Now I'm from Columbus, Ohio which has had The Eagle since 2016 and it happens to be a block from my apartment, so I'm familiar with their menu and know what my favorite items are. I was immediately sold and placed an order for their kale salad, a side of mac and cheese, and their hush puppies. It arrived quickly and it was exactly what I expected. That's a good sign, as they're consistent across the board. The mac and cheese here is incredible. It's a five cheese blend and topped with bread crumbs to give it that crunch. Seriously, you have to try it if you're a mac and cheese fan. The kale salad is also fire. It comes with bourbon soaked raisins, cornbread croutons, sharp cheddar, and a cider vinaigrette. They offer a half portion and a whole portion and both are affordable. The whole option will definitely fill you up. The hush puppies have corn, jalapeno, cheddar, and come with a slightly spicy "comeback sauce" as they like to call it. They were fried to perfection! As a vegetarian you might think that ordering from a spot known for their fried chicken is odd, but trust me, it hits the spot!
google avatar

Joanne Y.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years! We came after helping a friend move and we were hungry for some fried chicken. As always, the chicken was great and the hush puppies were, as usual, delicious. We did come a little late on Saturday (around 8) - there was a bit of a wait (I think they weren't opening all the tables), but the wait wasn't that long. Our server was okay - went missing for a bit, but was friendly when we did see our server. The beers weren't as cold as we would've liked, but it seems to be the case for a lot of places serving draft beer.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
We came in looking for a good lunch...so glad! They are known for fried chicken - we got the BLT and fried chicken sandwich...wow! The fried chicken has such good flavor and our side weee amazing!! Collards were just right...and the biscuits melted in your mouth. We started with hush puppies and they were perfect. The sauce was tasty too. The restaurant is nice - plenty of tables and I would want to go back and try some beer - so many taps!! Our server was super friendly and when she got busy there was someone to help. I would totally come back and would want to try the family fried chicken dinner!!
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Was in town for NBA Allstar, came in on Valentine's Day, they were definitely understaffed, but the people that were there went above and beyond. I was starving and ordered EVERYTHING! Fried Chicken, shrimp and grits, hushpuppies, collard greens, chicken dip, and mac n cheese. and... I would do it all again! The chicken dip has so much flavor, the shrimp and grits is a great small portion, the hushpuppies are must. The only downside is that people like to hold the door open and sitting at the bar was a little chilly. I absolutely love this restaurant and I wish there were more locations across the states.
google avatar

Staci W.

Yelp
My family decided to come down here to meet a relative who was visiting. I was a little hesitant due to my first visit here. This visit completely changed my mind about the Eagle. We made a reservation online so we were easily seated. The server we had was excellent- he was friendly and helpful. I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries. The food was delicious and came out quickly. Everyone enjoyed their food and the atmosphere.

Yelp
The food is unique and Family style if you want or not if you don't. They have a great patio and we have yet to try anything we didn't like. Service is good and staff seems like they want to be there, answering all questions about food and drinks. The only draw back is if you have a smaller party you may have to sit with others as the seating is family style as well. It can be awkward to sit with people you don't know, but honestly that has only happened to us once. I highly recommend this place if not for the delicious food the location and experience are very good!
google avatar

Robyn M.

Yelp
We were in Indy for a conference and a friend of mine highly suggested we try out The Eagle, definitely appreciate the recommendation because the food and the service were very good. Our sever, Mariah, was nothing short of amazing, she was very attentive, knew the menu and what to recommend based on our preferences and just did a great job of keeping up with us on a busy lunch afternoon. Now, me and my friend are foodies so we were like, let's order a little bit of everything to try - so we did. We split a whole chicken (and ended up taking some to go and eating more later - portion sizes are perfect for sharing) and added on cornbread, chicken dip, mac & cheese and greens. My least favorite of all of these would have to be the greens, we ended up getting the LAST portion of greens so they were kinda, bleh. But everything else, understood the assignment. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, perfect crunch. Mac and cheese needed a little doctoring but wasn't terrible. We also indulged in a couple of drinks that were also very good, I believe it was the spicy margarita (Texas girl here), and it hit the spot! I'd definitely return back next time I'm in the area for sure!

Yelp
I don't know if this place is a local secret but this is one of the best Mac n cheese/ spoon bread I've ever had! Really old school and very traditional in the best way. This place was not super busy. I can honestly see why this was recommended to us. If you are the type that can't get a little messy while eating - then this isn't the place for you. Although I would still say give it shot!! Such a cool experience and loved every minute of it. Only missing out was the draft beer system was down or something. Everyone's laughing and eating and having such a great time. The restaurant as a whole just gives you giant family reunion vibes while grandmas cooking in the kitchen . Amazing restaurant and would highly recommend the Mac and cheese. It was slap the cook - head shaking while eating it so good. I will definitely return when I return! Respectfully, Bryan Smith Oklahoma City

Yelp
The Eagle does a lot right. It's the worst when you walk in somewhere and the menu is pages long- sometimes it's hard to find what's good and you know that not everything can be fresh. The Eagle completely eliminates this problem with its delightfully simple menu. Just a few salads, sandwiches, sides, and fried chicken choices. I love knowing that my order is something the restaurant specializes in and will be consistently solid. I tried the chicken sandwich as well as fries and mac and cheese sides. Chicken sandwich was simple and delicious and I loved the herbs on the fries/aioli combo. While I wasn't a huge fan of how the sides are additional charges, they were well worth it. Service was quick too. We got in and out on a fairly busy Friday at lunchtime. Would recommend stopping in for some food or extensive beer collection.
google avatar

Abigail W.

Yelp
I always say 4 stars is a perfect meal, but 5 stars is above and beyond. And The Eagle is next level! Everything we've tried has been incredible. It's the spice blend, for me. I don't know what it is, but it tastes like Christmas morning; thyme or sage? You must use the hot honey and share the sides! The sides are large and you might as well sample as much you can. Very reasonably priced and the service is excellent! Reservations may be needed on weekends and for dinner, but there is almost always bar seating available. Right in the heart of Mass Ave, you can walk and shop before or after dinner. Don't forget to pay the parking meter!

It had been a while since we stopped into The Eagle, but I'm so glad we stopped in for lunch! The service was great and their patio was awesome! The chicken sandwich is a classic. As a Mac n cheese guy, this always makes my "best-of" list!

Yelp
Before coming here, I'd listen to people say the vibe and food were good, but I wasn't fully convinced. I can say after eating dinner here twice now, it's definitely great food and the vibe is great - they weren't lying! We consistently have great service (always sit at the bar) and the food is delicious. All of my interactions have been positive from the moment you walk into the door and are greeted by the hostess, to the moment we're checking out to leave. The menu is small compared to other places, but there is something for everyone. I love the Mac and cheese!

Yelp
I was visiting Indianapolis and my best friend took me to this restaurant for the first time. When I say the food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, it was amazing. I had the 5 drumsticks, sweet potatoes, Mac & cheese and cornbread. The portions are just right and come in a small size skillet which you are able to share but in my case I took home for later. I love the atmosphere and will be back. Also, the service we received from our waiter named Malik was top notch as well. Malik went above and beyond and provided us with exceptional service. His drink recommendations were on point. Thank you so much Malik for the exceptional service you provided. Satisfied customer from Illinois.

Yelp
Awesome food!!! The manager was amazing a homeless man began harassing our table and she took care of it right away! The cocktails were delicious and the food was so so good! 10/10 across the board, outside seating is nice, Mac and Cheese is fire!

Yelp
Crazy how a chain restaurant has the absolute best fried chicken in the city, but they do and they never disappoint.

Yelp
Food is always good at the Eagle! I've had both good and bad experiences with the service, but still prefer eating at the restaurant over ordering pick-up. Pretty casual restaurant, but busy on the weekends; I would make a reservation if you plan on going. Lots of street parking around the entire block, but you have to pay. If you're looking to drink, I recommend the blackberry lemonade. I've tried almost every food item on the menu & they're all great!

Yelp
Loved our experience at the Eagle! We got there just as they were opening so there was no wait and it was nice and quiet. Our server was super friendly and walked us through their specialties. I ended up getting the fried chicken sandwich which was delicious. The only thing that would have made it better was if it came with a sauce on the side. Overall, I would recommend if you're looking for a new lunch or dinner spot on Mass Ave.

Yelp
I was recommended to come out and try their chicken sandwich, and I'm glad I did! The chicken was very moist and crispy, the sauce was great and I liked the coleslaw & spicy pickle on top. I also ordered the collard greens & spoonbread for my sides (was not a combo with the chicken sandwich). The greens were great and the spoonbread was good too, it was new to have actual corn side the cornbread but it was good! I came at a mellow time where it wasn't really busy, just a few folks at the bar and a few couples at some tables. It wasn't too loud and they had a good variety of things to watch on tv besides sports. The service was a kind of iffy, everyone was nice and my food came out at a reasonable time. The iffy part was getting seated, which I felt bad for slightly interrupting the conversation between the host and the manager to ask if it was best to sit at the bar or if I needed to wait for a waiter to seat me. After being seated I had to ask for a menu but other than that everything was good!

Yelp
I owe a huge Thank you to The Eagle for a superb Saturday service to celebrate my husband's birthday. So my family came in from out of town and wanted to sit with us and the restaurant was busy, but accommodating. The food as always is delicious, but the service was even better. Thank you so much for being amazing, can't wait to go back (with my regular party of 4)

Yelp
I've never once been let down by The Eagle. The fried chicken is great, especially paired with the hot honey. I love their biscuits with both spreads. The spoon bread, while not quite a dessert, is a nice sweet accompaniment. And the HUSH PUPPIES ARE FIRE The pups may be my favorite dish from Eagle. All around great food and have never had a bad meal. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
We were visiting for the Fever game and looked on Yelp for a lunch recommendation. So happy we ended at The Eagle. Great food, friendly people and vibrant atmosphere. Our server recommended the fried chicken sandwich which we got, along with mac & cheese and fries and everything was delicious! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Decent bar food with big portions and a good drink menu. Buffalo chicken dip is great and several other appetizers are good as well.

Yelp
FANTASTIC! I have always wanted to go here but it is always so busy and I am normally with a group of people when I go downtown. However, at lunch it was relatively easy to get in, especially because we only had 2 people. We got a half chicken to share between the two of us. We then also got French fries and Mac and cheese. The fried chicken was possibly the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life. It was really flavorful, juicy and delicious. The fries had a ton of herbs and seasoning on them and came with aioli to dip them in! They were really good. The mac and cheese was also good. It was extremely thick. I wish it was a slightly bit thinner. Loved the bread crumbs on the top. Service was 10/10 and the atmosphere was also great,
