I will start by saying that I do not live here, but I toured the Eagle during a recent apartment search. I am leaving a review because I have honestly never had a more positive experience with a leasing office. After numerous rounds of apartment hunting in NYC over the years, I can read pretty quickly whether a leasing agent is hearing me out on what I'm looking for or if they're just trying to fill a vacancy. I can also tell when an agent is being cagey about answering the harder questions (e.g. about planned construction, negative reviews, etc.). From my very first reach-out, Austin at Big Apple Leasing Team was focused on what I, as a prospective renter, was actually looking for. He knows the ins and outs of the building and its sister properties, and he didn't waste time trying to talk me into any option that wasn't aligned with my criteria. I saw some incredible units in both The Eagle and its sister property, The Giovanni. Nothing about the experience felt like I was being pitched an "ideal" version of any of the units or buildings themselves. He also went above and beyond in explaining the issues that have prompted negative tenant reviews of The Eagle, and to provide objective data about past and upcoming construction. While I ultimately went in a different direction for my own reasons (logistics, personal unit preferences, move-in date etc.), I wanted to acknowledge that this was a standout in my apartment search, and I encourage any other prospective tenant who is reading these reviews to book a tour, meet with the leasing team, ask your questions, and make your own judgment call. The number of negative reviews is a very small sample size for a 441-unit building built in 2015. If it seems like it might be what you’re looking for, go and see for yourself whether it is.
