The Edge Review - Castro - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Few bars have thrived during COVID as the Edge has. Having expanded into not one but two parklets, it has cemented its position as the Castro’s default Happy Hour destination on a tree-lined corner at the neighborhood’s true edge. But make no mistake: The Edge will always be for musical-theater geeks and show-tune queens, with nights like Musical Mondays and Dirty Musical Sundays alongside socially conscious live entertainment like all-trans drag shows plus drag brunches. If you like to watch Drag Race in the company of people who can cite the previous seasons’ mini-challenge winners with savant-like precision, The Edge is for you." - Peter-Astrid Kane

Visited quite a few times. This bar is Not like a lot of other gay bars in San Francisco that I have gone too that are dark and dingy, filthy atmosphere. This bar is Very up market crowd. Great feel, Safe feel very excepting. Transgender safe space. Warm comfortable bar staff and patrons. Definitely will return further.

Damn! The drinks at The Edge pack a punch, and you get your money’s worth. This place is hopping—it’s always got a great crowd and a lively vibe on most evenings. Every time I’ve been, I’ve felt completely welcomed and safe, which is exactly what you want in a bar. The Edge is becoming a go-to spot in the Castro, and it’s absolutely on the list for my next visit to San Francisco. Highly recommend if you're looking for strong drinks, good times, and an inclusive atmosphere!

Google
The drinks are inexpensive and stuh-rong. Most of the bartenders are nice, kind and attentive. I love Musical Mondays, but more than that I love going to a place that fills like a social pub for queers like me. At so many of the bars I used to patronize it feels like I've aged out. At the Edge it doesn't matter how old or young, skinny or fat, butch or femme. It's a neighborhood watering hole for everybody!

Google
Not lesbian friendly, despite having a lesbian flag outside your establishment. We got a bartender that would ignore me and my female friends who came to support our local drag show. We had a bartender attend male customers before us despite us waiting in line and when we called his attention while trying to get dollar bills for the performance. Overall did not feel welcomed. Not “inclusive” as they say.

Escarly

Google
Beautiful show on Thursday but the bar was giving us negativity vibes, they refused to give us a 3rd shot because it was within less than 2 hours. It was unnecessary, we were lit and it was our first spot, we werent even drunk. So annoying

Body Curious

Google
Great Men’s bar and Steve the Barman is fabulous, always the place we come when in San fran, great drinks and always a friendly smile

Anthony Barros

Google
Very rude bartenders maybe they need a raise idk shouldn’t take it out on customers and they are not friendly towards lesbians

Google
Fun place but sketchy service and payment systems. Don't go here if you don't plan to be overcharged or told that your credit card can't be accepted. Was told that the bartender wasn't able to take payment and that I would have to wait 5 minutes for him to return. The one who told me that was himself a bartender.... Came and found me to charge my card and then said that my card was declined and I asked why was it declined and his response was, "you don't have enough money on your credit card to cover the cost".... Didn't realize he had access to my bank account statements.... He was mistaken. More than enough money to cover the cost. This is a sketchy establishment with horrible reviews for obvious reasons.... Look at the other reviews. Proceeded to advise me that if I didn't find a friend to pay for the tab, I would be kicked dout and my credit card would be held until further notice. I snatched my card from his hand and told him that if he did that then it would be theft. He obliged but continued to harass me. Be careful going to this LOW QUALITY GAY BAR.

Yelp
Out of all the bars in the Castro district, this one was the best value and I'll tell you why! For happy hour {which ends at 8pm), all drinks are 2 for 1, which includes top shelf liquor. Being a Tito's vodka fan, the regular price for a Tito's cocktail is 11.50 here, which equates to 5.75 per drink during happy hour, now that's a bargain! Our bartender was very cool as he allowed me to use the token for the 2 for 1 immediately for a drink for my friend, therefore avoiding having to buy two drinks and get two tokens. Speaking of, the bartender was very friendly, efficient, and a hard worker, as well as the barback and other bartender that came in later in the afternoon as business picked up. As for the bar itself, it's the perfect size as it's not too big and not too small. The built in wall seating can be a little cumbersome but at least that's an option for those not wanting to sit on a stool. The men's restroom is very small, with just enough space to scoot in to use the urinal, so best to use the all gender restroom. Overall, a decent watering hole with great happy hour pricing!

Yelp
On a lazy weekday afternoon past 3PM, The Edge doesn't feel all that edgy. It feels like a convivial gathering spot in contrast to the dark and cruisey leathery ambiance it has after dark. The bartenders are very relaxed here and mingle quite a bit with the bearish regulars, which meant waiting a while to get my drink order in. No matter since I was in no hurry. Like Toad Hall and Beaux, they offer a 2-4-1 Happy Hour and gratefully provide tokens for your second drink. I kinda hate how Toad Hall serves both drinks at the same time. One $8.50 Tequila Sunrise worked for me (photo: https://yelp.to/YkhN_yrKdZ), and I pocketed the token. Best of all, I feel the crowd is age-appropriate for me. Yes, I mean it skews older, and coincidentally that's how I skew, too. DRINKS - 4 stars...mixed well and hey, 2-4-1 AMBIANCE - 3 stars...dark and leathery yet surprisingly sunny SERVICE - 4 stars...cool bartender TOTAL - 4 stars...seen more rounded corners than edges here RELATED - Exploring the Castro? Yelp
I appreciate their efforts to the community by supporting fundraising effort. Great bartender- super sweet and fast service.

Yelp
The edge refused to serve me because they said i fell asleep but i never fell asleep. When i asked for a manager, they said there was no manager but the bouncer told me the manager was the guy who refused to serve me! I have spent years in the castro and i have never been so thoroughly discriminated against. I was the only black woman in the bar and they disrespected me. And then I left and I hear the bartender complaining to the bouncer and i simply tell them it wasn't true and they kicked me out, EVEN THOUGH I ALREADY LEFT!!!! I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone! As you can see from the other one stars, the bartender who refused to serve me is a racist who uses the N word and treats his customers disparagingly.

Yelp
This guy a few weeks ago I came from the symphony bought two drinks for me and my friend paid with my card and at the bar were Ably like 8 people because was showing porn lefty the bar because was a little trashy went to 440 try to fine my card and realized I left it at The Edge asked this guy And he was so upset went to see and came back 30 seconds later and said to me no is not here... you should look on the floor because you don't knot what you are doing . So I went to Yelp and did a bad review about him so I went back two days After 4 pm with a nice guy long hair and Guess what my card was there and Today I came back to the bar asked for a drink and he siaid to me he will not serve me because I always fight and fall sleep and cause troubles at the bar Good I will not comeback but I need some evidence or it will be bad

Yelp
After 10 minutes get into the place i ordered a mezcal margarita and a negroni for my friend. The bartender, Joey, just gave me a classic margarita y charge me $25 for both drinks. I asked him if he could change my drink for a mezcal margarita instead. He goes "I'm gonna change your drink but you also have to pay for it because I already made it for you" and I said "I don't think so, I ordered a mezcal margarita since the begging" . He goes like "fine but I'm gonna charge you $30 instead. " I goes like "yeah no problem baby" So he changed his behaviour and made a new drink for me and he SNATCHED AWAY mi card. And then he THROW ME back my card, the check and the pen separately over the bar. He was so unprofessional rude and unpolite. I've never been treated like that before. I felt so bad about myself. I was there only for 10 minutes and I got awful service and I feel so discriminated. I wrote down a note like this : you're were so unprofessional and there's no need to throw me back my card and the bill. No tip" and I sign the bill. He took it and read it and he goes totally nuts and he said he would refund me told me to "get the fuck out of here" he called security to kick us out. He's probably under influences or so because his behaviour was so rude and dangerous. I don't think people like him should work in the service industry. I've been here so many times and this guys just changed my perspective of this place.

Yelp
There's a Thursday night drag show and (of course) this week's was Barbie night. Very fine spot. The guys at the door were friendly, bartenders and crowd friendly. But the highlight was the drag show. Many of the performers put in an amazing amount of prep and effort. Think RuPaul level. Custom Karaoke tracks so good it took a while to realize the lyrics were changed from the original. Maybe generative AI?

Yelp
The DJ is rude. The vibe is lame. Music is joke. Don't come here. Not worth a dollar.

Yelp
Fun vibe, strong drinks, nice mix of people. Musical nights are always fun, and weekend gogos provide nice eye candy.

Yelp
I love the bartenders here but the star of this place is the young guy at the door. He is so sweet and we need more POC people in the Castro. I read some of the negative reviews and I think these people don't know this bar like I do. I go on Mondays and Sundays and I love that it is one block from my house. I am also on Castro Patrol and I always like checking in with the security guards here! Friendliest local bar in town.
google avatar

Alexis P.

Yelp
By far, it is the rudest bar in the Castro. It is a great environment, but there are horrible bartenders. Want tips but can't even show a smile or be nice without an attitude is becoming a hot commodity.

Morgan M.

Yelp
I'm kind of a lone wolf, most of my friends moved outta town during the pandemic - Philly, Dallas, Austin, Seattle. So on a lazy day off in Castro after lunch, I head to The Edge, my "go-to" bar for a day drink. Matt & Michael the daytime bartenders are total hotties with zero attitude. After a couple visits years ago they pour my drink (vodka cran no lime) before I even sit at the bar. Oh, & they pour a stiff drink - nearly every time I'm there someone sheepishly comes in to retrieve their card from an open tab or a lost phone (or lol both). Yeh, go Edge

Yelp
Been coming to the Edge for 7 years. Love showtunes on Monday and Wednesday! However, after a covid hiatus coming back regularly and some things have changed... #1 Weak drinks that are more expensive! inflation doesn't = weaker drinks does it? #2 Ventilation - you have fans? a door? Highly suggest for multiple reasons you have the fans on and maybe crack a window. Smelly customers and a pandemic are great reasons to do always run your fans! Still love the place but my weekly visits will be less frequent for sure!

Yelp
I have to say, Steven is the quintessential bartender and always in a good mood, has an amazing personality and is fun loving and the joy we all need in our lives on a Saturday rainy day. Not only is he HAWT, he has the best butt in all of SF and he truly cares for all his patrons who come into the bar. Castro is always a great place to have exciting conversations and make connections, but Steven is "the man" and has made this day such a wonderful day with his smile, strong (and absolutely sexy) arms and overall physique.

Yelp
Hey everyone, Edge is a great chill bar with amazing people running the place. They have special event nights and raise so much money for gay causes. The bartenders, Steve, Joe, Anthony and all the other people are just kind human beings who genuinely love the clientele. I've read some reviews downing the bartenders. A gentle reminder bartenders aren't there to accept your sexual advances, they are there to serve you well made drinks, which they always do. Treat people kindly and they will do the same in return. This bar is very popular for a reason, the great people who work there and who support the community.

Ashley G.

Yelp
I am new to the area and have been trying to find my new go to spot. I stumbled across The Edge, apprehensive of some reviews, I still decided to go inside. I am so so so happy I did!! I was instantly greeted with the biggest smile and served right away, two of the most important things in my opinion. Joey is the reason why I'll be coming back. I truly could not have been more surprised and impressed! Thank you Joey, I'll see you again soon!!

Josh B.

Yelp
I have been visiting The Edge for years. It's mostly a good time, especially for Showtunes, with one glaring exception. One of the bartenders, Joey, is a belligerent drunk. You can watch him go down hill over the course of a night as he helps himself to top-shelf tequila shots. Eventually he starts being overtly nasty to customers. And judging by some other reviews, he likes to use racial slurs. Unacceptable. Bad for business.

Jeremy F.

Yelp
Joey the bartender called my friend a n******. When checked on it he doubled down and started to fight us on it. Said the n word 2 more times and kicked us out. This is insane and hope that Joey is held accountable. Cannot believe that this happened and I am so upset.

Yelp
I recently went to The Edge in San Francisco and it was everything I loved in an amazing gay bar! They actually fixed the problem that wasn't good. Now the bar is amazing! Love it there!

Yelp
The Edge has been the regular haunt for me and my friends for the last couple of years. Musicals Nights are what we refer to as "Gay Church" and we truly consider it our weekly sanctuary. Recent events have underscored how important familiar and safe queer spaces are for our community. Coming into the Edge, I feel welcomed and safe. The doorman Darrin now knows us by name and greets us like old friends - perfect blend of friendliness but keeping the peace when needed. The regular bartenders know our drink orders and of course, Derek keeps us singing along with our favorite musicals... all that and great drink specials! Only complaint is that it sometimes gets overcrowded with the holdovers from earlier events, esp. now that it's gotten too cold to spill out onto the parklets.

Best poured drink. Awesome Christmas party can't wait to enjoy another another Jell-O shot

Yelp
We were able to stop in for a quick drink on what we quickly learned was a show tunes night. That was a very pleasant surprise! The bartender was so kind and absolutely hilarious. I almost felt like we were there for his stand-up special. Sitting at the bar was a joy with him bouncing around. Our drinks were fab and they had great specials going on. In addition to the show tunes, it was a really good atmosphere to hang out in for a couple of drinks. They were absolutely packed and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Yelp
The Edge is a small, neighborhood LGBTQIA+ bar, located in the heart of the Castro District at the corner of Castro and 18th Streets. Operating since 1987, the Edge has been a staple in the San Francisco nightlife scene. Open nightly, the Edge is best known for their musical nights, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays, where songs from musicals are streamed on televisions throughout the bar with patrons singing along. They also feature drag performances weekly in their relatively newly remodeled bar. The Edge features a more mature crowd than other bars in the Castro. The Edge offers friendly staff, stiff drinks, and an inclusive community.

Yelp
I've lived in this neighborhood for too long to deal with the edge employee who was extremely rude and barked at us to move our bicycles against their temporary parklet. we planned to get a shot to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday (pub crawl on bicycles woot woot) but we took our business elsewhere. owner/manager of edge: remind your employees to be kind and respectful of all patrons, neighbors and visitors before you don't have any.

Wyatt R.

Yelp
I've been coming to the Edge very consistently for about 2 years, and it's always a great place to go, especially on Sunday nights. Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday nights are Musical nights, and even as someone who's medium on musicals, these nights are enjoyable for everyone. Frequently, I'll get off work late at night on Sundays, and the Edge has been my go-to haunt nearly every single week in the last year and a half--it's the perfect place to end a weekend. Sunday nights are just the absolute best. You walk in past an inviting bouncer to see Erick's friendly, welcoming smile, and you just know you're gonna get a well-made drink (and a drink token, obviously, for their 2-for-1 special). Whenever I see Erick around the Castro, he'll always be sure to say hi, and it's things like this that make the Edge such a fun, community-centered, neighborhood bar. The awesome barbacks are always attentively collecting empty glasses, ensuring the space is safe and clean, and engaging folks in conversations that'll make you so happy to be there. Truly a 10/10 staff. You might pass Derek doing some ~dirty~ drink giveaways if you're lucky--they happen about once an hour! Always accommodating and sometimes flexible with the definition of "musical" to the betterment of the bar's vibe, Derek makes sure there's variety to the songs and solid entertainment throughout the night, helping to bridge friend groups and strangers alike. Lastly, you then get to the second well where Terra, one of the best bartenders in the Castro who uplifts the vibe and the community, will both make you feel at home as well as make you one of the best (affordable) drinks in the 'Stro. Better than most, Terra is a fantastic judge of character, and they know how to make the general feeling of the Edge one of the absolute best in the Castro. My friends and I largely come to the Edge for the vibes that both Terra and Erick cultivate, as we know neither of them will tolerate any rudeness or disrespect. Having rotating barbacks and other bartenders like Jack and Jesse are just the cherries on top.

Jenise K.

Yelp
Refused to serve me because I was black! I was super was really excited to check out this spot. They were so uncomfortable.
google avatar

Yelp
While most of the bartenders here are respectful and nice, I just hope you dont have the unfortunate luck of Steve as your bartender. Had a night out here and the initial bartender was super nice. The shift changed and I got Steve as our replacement bartender who was terrible. He essentially ignored us and only served the emaciated twinks. He actually acted like we didnt exist and only repsonded to his regulargs. At one point I asked specicially for a seltzer by yelling at him across the bar after he ignored me for a solid hour. He then threw the seltzer on my bar in front of me and provided no glass, no ice, no nothing. I then watched him cozy up to the end of the bar and give them "regulars" great service and ignore me. I finally asked him if I could get a glass of ice for my seltzer and rolled his eyes and threw a glass in front of me and I said "have we offended you in some way" and didnt respond and ignored me for so long that I had to walk to the other end of the bar for my next drink.

Yelp

Yelp
Busy friendly bar in the Castro. They have happy hour many nights till 7pm and it's busy during this time. One of the few Castro bars where the staff make an effort to be welcoming.

Yelp
With nothing to do on a lazy Thanksgiving afternoon, what better activity to do than drink and converse? It was relaxing that afternoon, with a few peeps having some hooch. ATMOSPHERE: The small corner bar is dark and a bit dreary due to its black everything, with a small section looking out through big windows. A long bench runs the length of the place, with a few high tops and bar seats. Like at most bars during the day, it was chill and easy to communicate. Saturday night brought in a few more patrons with a go-go boy dancing on the bar. No official dance floor. The bathroom... There's two. One is a regular lavatory that's more suited for developing black and white photographs in. The second is a broom closet with a trough that would look at home in a contemporary barn. BEVERAGE: Lemon Drop - I'm usually a beer guy, but was not feeling it on turkey day. The drink was strong, but had a bit too much lemon juice in it, and the sugar rim was missing. Gulp, next! Cosmopolitan - WTF is going on with me lol? My second quaff was this girly drink, but I didn't care. Vodka was ruling on this day. x2 = oh yeah! Off to dinner! Budweiser - Now we're talking! A man's drink lol! Saturday night brought me back to my beer roots as we started here and hopped around 18th Street. SERVICE: Fast and friendly, just how I like my men. OVERALL: Cool place, not overly crowded, good prices.

Yelp
UPDATE (12/15/22): The Edge management team has quickly addressed this issue to my satisfaction. I'd like to thank them for helping to restore my faith in our community's commitment towards equity and inclusion. They now have Darin (shaved head, taller) on the door, who is a more mature gentleman that seems to consistently treat people with respect. I experience racial prejudice and biased treatment from the door person every time I go. Without failure, he overtly demonstrates disdain for us. One example is him aggressively taking and returning my ID, and when I asked "is everything ok", to which he replies "if you have a problem you can just get out." Another example, far more disturbing than any of the previous ones, was last night when he physically assaulted my date who is from Russia, hadn't been to the bar before, and wasn't aware he needed to show ID. The door person physically hit him in the chest, with force, demanding ID. As I approached the door to also go inside, after only having just stepped outside, feet from the door, to greet my guest, the door person demands my ID. When I tried to explain, he replied with more crass and aggressive phrases like "show ID or you're not coming in." Hearing this, I complied, also asking him if there is "something that I have done to deserve the consistently rude and aggressive treatment", because as coincidence would have it, there was a white guy who had also walked outside only moments before me, who the door person allowed to re-enter without objection, or request for any ID whatsoever. When I raised the question on "why I was being treated differently", his reply was that "if I was going to be 'confrontational' with him, he would throw me out!" However, much to my appreciation, the guy who was allowed back in, overhearing the conversation, doubled back to join, also stating that my observation was correct. Upon hearing this, I disengaged, was allowed to go in, but I immediately went up to the bartender to request the management. Again, the white guy who so valiantly came to my aid at the door also joined in to recount his same observations and frustration with the door person. In fact, he went on to say that he has observed the door person exhibit "confrontational" and "antagonizing" behavior on "numerous occasions." The bartender then validated our concerns , and also offered up that the bar has had "a lot of issues with the demeanor of that particular 'doorman'". Feeling better, I returned to my friends, and apologized profusely to my date. Later, my friends and I decided to leave the bar. However, unaware at the time, I had forgotten to collect my credit card and close the tab, as well as grab my hat. Consequently, after about 30 minutes, I realized this and returned back to the bar. With the intent to avoid any and all conflict by simply going to the door and showing my ID. At this time, the door person tells me that it will be $5 for me to enter. I explained to him that I was only returning to sign out my tab; however, as what should have been observable reassurance of this, my date was clearly and evidently remaining outside to wait for me. Nevertheless, I was allowed to enter. I walked a short distance to retrieve my hat from my friend. However, when I turned to get in line to close my tab, the door person was standing right behind me yelling, that "I needed to get out or pay $5 dollars." Absolutely humiliating and degrading. I attempted to repeat the prior explanation of why I was there, but he says "if you don't get out now, I'm calling the police." I told him the police was already there, as my friend who had my hat, is an officer (also African American). The door person then pulled out his phone, giving the impression that he was calling the police. In response, my friend, date and I waited outside for the police to arrive. After about 20 minutes they hadn't, so my friend, the officer, approached the door person to ask if he had truly called, to which he replied non-verbally with a shake of his head, no. Honestly, I thought the days of black men being falsely reported and threatened with police were moving to our past. Sadly, this individual is allowed to perpetuate this injustice.

Yelp
We got to this bar in the afternoon on July 5. We rolled in at about 4 o'clock. It was packed!!! It appeared to be a crowd of locals, very diverse crowd. Most were just sitting around enjoying the cocktails. As for the drinks! GO SLOW! I was absolutely floored when they brought out my, "Long Island Ice-T" the damn drink was served in a mayonnaise size jar! My husband was drinking martinis. And he absolutely loved his. The drinks were very reasonably price. Certainly for the strength and quantity they are giving you. I tried to finish my Long Island iced tea, but not wanting to risk a DUI I gave it to my husband. That pretty much finished him off! He was done! We went back again the next day we liked it so much. Very nice place. Well worth the stop

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of the Edge, it's a great intimate neighborhood bar. Great for first dates, catching up with friends and meeting new people. (You can actually hear each other!) The bartenders are unpretentious, attentive, fast and friendly. Drinks are very reasonably priced. With frequent shows, often there's some excellent entertainment. If you're inclined, there's often first time queens performing so could offer options to the budding future kings and queens... The Edge is one of the cleaner bars with excellent ventilation, which come summer you really appreciate. For its modest size, there's actually tons of seating. There's also a huge heated outdoor section (about same size as indoors!) which is great. This review is true for the past ten years I've been going here. It's always been a lot of fun- with friends or even going out alone! It's a little slice of authentic SOMA hard edge with a sprinkle of camp Castro.

Yelp
I enjoyed the bar and the videos with the music was great but the security, "wearing the security jacket" was a little b. He literally took my friends drink out of her hands and told her it's enough!". I mean we paid for it . Other then that it was great.

Yelp
I have been hanging out in The Castro off and on since 1982 long before The Edge so I have had a few favorite spots. I will say that I have always like The Edge, but this trip it just felt like home (bar) Moms place was much nicer. It's all about the service. I had several great bartenders, and then Eric... that smile, that wink, that amazing service. Probably the best prices in The Castro, excellent service and a STIFF...drinks makes The Edge my favorite stop!

Yelp
If only I could give more than five stars. This place is better than a cool bar with a fabulous drag show. There is a bouncer there who made my just out daughter-who is not of age to enter a bar-feel like she was more than welcomed-she felt like she was a VIP Glitter Princess. (You know who you are buddy, but what you might not know is that my daughter said you are the nicest man she's ever met, and it meant a lot on a Father's Day with no dad in sight. What-I wasn't crying!!!)

What makes this bar great is the neighborhood vibes that are produced by the amazing employees there so naturally when they begin firing those employees starting with the security guard the bar ultimately looses those vibes and begins to become a place of less and it's unfortunate because there are few places in todays world where you can feel community based and safe. Fortunately there are other bars in the Castro looking at you 440

Yelp
Whatever you do, wear a white t-shirt and jeans and "werk it!" Luckily, I was even wearing one of those pouch under gear that I got as a gift for Christmas that made everything between my legs, well... looked liked I have a 3rd leg!! Even the patrons at this "fine" establishment squeezed my "Charmin" if you will, to ensure that my "package" was in fact, for realzzz!!! So you can only imagine, I had been manhandled. But, that's when my free drinks started happening, and that's when the fun also began! :p And as the ole saying goes, "Sometimes, you ought to live on the EDGE of time!" Drinks here were fantastic. They were strong, and lots of it. They made killer Long Island Ice Tea, and the Jose Cuervo Shots.... they were fantastic. The bartenders were great even though they were busy. The patrons here were super friendly considering I'm no burley, hairy or otter dude. I'm just your average clean cut Asian guy, with a few inches of fat here and there, but I guess it pays to have hard nipples all night long, peeking through my white t-shirts, and a live package for "touchy-touch" because my bank account that night, stayed the same. Drink up folks, because the more you drink, the prettier they get!! Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

Yelp
This bar is a neighborhood staple, and Covid really doubled their impact and space on the community. The outside seating, the lights, the outdoor projector just brings magic to this corner! I love love love the staff and the ambiance here!!! Sister Angelina gives 2 huge thumbs up!

Yelp
I was here on sat for pride weekend. I ordered a round of shots for my friends and the bartender deliberately added something else to my bill. It sounded high and when I saw the screen, he already swiped my card. I decided not to say anything because it was really busy and didn't want to stir anything up. I definitely should have and regret it. It ruined my night tbh. Pretty shitty feeling. It was the bartender in the back by the restrooms around 9. I ordered 5 lemon drops and it turned out to be $58, which I know is wrong. I'm not sure if he was doing it to others or if I might've just looked like an easy target. It's a fun bar, but be careful and double check your tabs.

Yelp
The Castro should be grateful to have business owners that are still upholding the history of the Castro as those at The Edge! Beetle and team put their clients first, always ensuring safety and service...even while those "unruly" challenge them. If you want a "Castro-fueled" beverage served by happy people, I offer you The Edge!

Yelp
This bar tried it's best during covid. We went to have fun and support an LGBTQ space but we're met with rude servers that were mediocre at best. It took forever to get served and the bartenders poured crap mixed drinks while the server barely paid attention to our table.

Yelp
The bar experience is fine, however you are greeted by a miserable, jaded, nasty, bitchy doorman. I was in San Francisco for two months, with business, and several coworkers commented on their nasty encounter with this queen. If you are so miserable with your job, perhaps you should search out a new career, one that doesn't involve dealing with the public. The female doorman, however, was wonderful, and I wish she was working every night.

Yelp
Holy moly! This place is great! I love it! This is usually where I start my night because you drink two LITs (Long Island ice teas) and you're good for the night! They have dancers there and often times

Yelp
I've had some good times here but the amount of times a member of their staff has been rude to me or people I've been in with over the years just outnumber those hand full of good times. It's everything from passive aggressively serving other patrons before others that were there first to very direct snide remarks/demands. My inkling is that they like to cater to a certain niche and if you don't fit that particular niche then you aren't going to be welcomed with good service. Even if that isn't correct, there's no reason to be openly rude to your customers (or anyone actually).

Yelp
The two times i've been here I had a good time. It's not very difficult to meet people in this bar, since it's small enough that we bump into someone every way we turn. We were here on a Monday night and ended up meeting some older guys to hangout with for the night. They were fun guys and ended up inviting my buddy and I over to another bar so that they could go shirtless. I didn't mind.....They were very good looking dudes. The drinks are strong. Music is good. Not a bad place to be. Bathroom is a bit gross, but not a big deal.

Yelp
The 2 previous times I've come here, this bar was slammed, and it was nearly impossible to move around the noisy spot. I recently came with a friend during the day, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a few locals enjoying drinks with a cheerful bartender, and plenty of space. AMBIANCE is WYSIWYG- which is not bad considering it's usually dark when the bar is most popular. I appreciated their Halloween decorations to liven up the daytime vibes. ORDERED Mason Jar Tea ($9). DRINKS had me on my back. The Mason Jar Tea was so large and strong yet sweet that I felt like I finished three drinks. I definitely recommend it if you're looking to get a bang for your buck. OVERALL a thirsty three stars. Not a bad spot to day drink with a friend, or meet some locals having a great time.

Yelp
Small but it's set up to accommodate. Service was pretty quick at the bar for being a sat night. Not sure if bc covid is still among us. Highly appreciate the need to present your digital or paper proof vaccination card or no entry. Got there right before midnight so only got to appreciate the last drag performance. Standing ovation to Ty chicken w his Freddie Mercury bicycle performance!!!!
