Step into Ottoman luxury at The Efendi Hotel in Akko—12 elegant rooms with sea views, a historic hammam, rooftop terrace, and unbeatable breakfast vibes.
"Tucked into the ancient, magical maze that is Old Acre, the Efendi Hotel looks out onto the city walls and the sea just beyond. Combining two Ottoman palaces, this labor of love from celebrity chef Uri Jeremias—whose nearby restaurant, Uri Buri, is practically a foodie pilgrimage site—took restorers and artisans the better part of a decade to complete under the watch of the Antiquities Authority. The layer cake of history beneath the hotel includes a 12th-century Crusader cellar, where you should head for a wine tasting, and a 400-year-old hammam, where you should book a Turkish bath. Also not to be missed at the Efendi: the 19th-century fresco commemorating the debut of Istanbul’s Orient Express station, the gorgeously preserved ceilings, and the rooftop bar (be sure to go at sunset, when your drinks will be accompanied by a chorus of Muezzin calls). Though you’ll be tempted to linger over the sublime views—and fresh dates—in your room, get out during the day and explore the surrounding alleys, mosques, synagogues, markets, tunnels, fortress, citadel, and port."

"The Efendi Hotel in Akko, Israel, is a 12-room boutique lodging created by Chef Uri Jeremias. The hotel, which is a five-minute walk from Uri Buri Restaurant, was restored from two former Ottoman-era palaces over nine years. It features colorful ceiling frescoes, a refurbished hammam, and a 900-year-old vaulted wine cellar. The hotel offers a unique historical and cultural experience, with rooms starting from $320, including breakfast." - Sara Lieberman
"This boutique hotel, founded by the legendary Uri Buri, sits inside two ancient houses, which were combined over the course of an eight-year restoration. Since completion, it has breathed new life into the hotel scene in the area. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, it’s worth taking a tour and to try a diverse Akko breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The family-style feast brings all the guests together for a spread that changes according to the season. It features salads, homemade jams, fresh cheese, home-baked pita with za’atar, pastries, and various omelets (including a vegan option that swaps eggs for chickpea flour). The hotel includes an amazing terrace overlooking the city, a wine cellar for special events, and a stunning hammam. For the ultimate foodie escape, book a package including a room, massage, breakfast, and dinner at Uri Buri. [$$]" - Keren Brown

This was one of the best long weekend getaways we've ever had. The hotel is phenomenally beautiful, and the staff is amazing—especially the wonderful Elias and the lovely breakfast team. The breakfast is absolutely perfect!|Yes, Akko's alleys aren't the cleanest, and stray cats roam the streets, but that's an issue for the municipality to address and is beyond the hotel's control.|Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the bed was fantastic.|It had been 10 years since our last visit, and we kept asking ourselves—why did we wait so long to come back?||

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a fantastic location inside the old city of Akko/ Acre. So much character. You can walk to Uri Buri restaurant, which is delicious and feels very personal, with great service. The hotel's beds are very comfortable, and they provide yummy snacks in the lobby and in rooms. the breakfast is amazing!

The Efendi provides a heightened boutique hotel experience, beginning with outstanding service, carefully chosen decor, attention to detail, and a focus on making you feel welcome and at home. The rooms are unique, well-equipped, and optimized to make you feel at ease; the bathrooms are spacious, well thought-out (towel heaters, ear plugs to keep the light sleepers from waking to the late/early prayers), and a breakfast that will make you want to have dinner at 5pm or skip it all together unless—that is—you have dinner at Uri Buri.
The rooftop terrace is quaint and overlooks the Old City, while the terrace on the second floor has views of the mosque which are beautiful at the golden hour.
The lounge areas are also beautiful and welcoming; the decor is soothing and inviting, wishing you wanted to sit around at the hotel all day.
I did not get to try the spa and its services but would encourage you to try if you have the spare time.
Yes, the access by car is difficult but that’s not why you choose this hotel or your visit to Akko.

Beautiful, one of a kind resort with caring and attentive staff. Highly recommended for something totally different from the regular hotels in Israel. The breakfast in the morning is simply amazing.
