"Eggs And Plants serves great falafel, but that’s not your only vegetarian option here. You can also get a sandwich with fried eggplant or shakshuka-braised eggs, plus hummus, tahini, a citrusy cabbage salad, pickled vegetables, and french fries. Add a fresh mint lemonade slushie, and then start petitioning that henceforth, all sandwiches everywhere should come stuffed with fries." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

This is my favorite brunch place in Ballard. The waitress is super nice. They provide all-day brunch with a variety of great food options within a reasonable price range. If you are tired of overcharged stuff, and crave some simple and heart warming food, then this is the place to go. It's super busy during the weekends. I usually come in the afternoon during weekdays to enjoy a quiet time. Always make me happy!

Google
The BEST lemon ricotta pancakes ever. I keep coming back for them. The omelette plates are too good to miss. Their seasonal Pumpkin pancakes were a chef’s kiss!

Google
An amazing breakfast place. Chill vibe, great service, and over the top amazing food. My omelette had exceptional bacon (and tomato and Tillamook cheddar). The biscuit and fruit and homemade jam were all outstanding. And the sausage links were large and tasty. Maybe the best breakfast place I've been to in my 62 years on the planet.

Food was good not great. Service was terrible. We ordered drinks and only 2 came out and when we asked if the third was coming he said he forgot to tell us they were out. So we ordered something else and he brought us two completely different drinks from what we ordered. When the food came out we asked for some sides (syrup, hot sauce, etc) and they never arrived and we were never checked in on to even remind him. Then when the bill came the prices were all higher than what was in the menu. All in all I would describe it as a dennys with alcohol. There are many better places to go.

We stopped here for breakfast before the trader Joe run 😅. The place was pretty busy and we had about 10 mins to wait at 10. My wife got the special omelette which was creamy and had artichoke. I felt that there was too much happening in that and the taste of the egg was overpowered by everything else. My wife liked it though. I took the new York cut with scrambled eggs. It was okay. We also took a swedish pancake which was pretty nice. In hindsight, I should have taken 3 . Service was great and the staff was super nice. It was easy to park even on a Saturday.

Google
Yummy, colorful breakfast with large portions. Highly recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes.

Google
They have changed the name. It appears the breakfast menu items are still the same. The food was excellent, the service was on point. My wife had the Swedish pancakes, of course I had to try some. They were the bomb!!! I had the California omelet. So good! Couldn’t finish due the large portions. For a great breakfast give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Google
One of my new favorite places for breakfast & lunch! This was my first time coming in a little bit later in the day, so I decided to try the lunch menu and got “The Kitchen Sink” tuna sandwich which was pretty good. I’ve had their Eggs Benedict with a biscuit too, but definitely want to keep going and try their other items. I appreciate the reasonable prices, which is hard to find in Seattle!!

Yelp
Love this place! But NOTE: it has changed owners recently, and the name of the place is now "the Block Cafe". But I spoke with the staff, and they said that while the menu looks different, the contents are the same, and the cook is the same. We went for brunch on Monday, December 30, 2024, and everything was excellent! The service was friendly and efficient, and they even made me an eggnog French toast when it wasn't on the menu! In fact, when it was delivered to our table, the cook himself, Victor, brought it to us! He seemed eager to find out if I was pleased with his efforts. And I certainly was! The French toast was delicious! And my husband had the Popeye scramble, for the second time in a few weeks; and again he was very happy with it. In fact, while I was composing this review, my husband offered that he has never had a meal there that he did not enjoy! It's not that their food is unique, or newsworthy, it's just your basic diner that is consistently dependable. They have your basic comfort food, and you can get breakfast all day (which I love). Their coffee is good, there's plenty of parking, and it's a big enough place that we almost never have to wait for a table, even if they're busy. By the way, it has nice ambience, for a larger restaurant it's cozy. Overall, it just has a very positive vibe. So whether you want a stack of pancakes, a BLT, biscuits and gravy, fish, and chips, a salad, or something with a Mexican flair, this place is the place for you! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Clam chowder; had the slight after taste from mayonnaise or miracle whip. Not a repeat order. maybe a canned clam chowder base with additional ingredients to dress it up. Not sure if made from fresh ingredients or not. Difficult to tell. Not a large amount of clams in the chowder. Good waiting spot for people shopping in Ross or other nearby stores. They bring the payment device to you where you are sitting and have it set to a default of 20%. Not enough fresh ingredient menu choices like salad made with local produce. Standard restaurant supply chain ingredients like eggs, potatoes, cream, celery, frozen veg such as corn. Closer to cafeteria food menu style using canned ingredients.

Yelp
**Average experience overall.** We visited on a Saturday morning, and although it was busy, we were seated quickly. I ordered the Swedish pancake and the Louisiana omelette. The sausage in the omelette was tasty, and the pancake was good, but nothing I'd rush back for. The food is decent, and the prices are reasonable, making it a good option for a casual breakfast. One downside was that the spoon I received was dirty, which was disappointing.

Yelp
EGG & US is now called THE BLOCK CAFE. Please help spread the word...same great food and people serving. Just had a great breakfast this weekend!

Michael L.

Yelp
This restaurant is now called The Block. The menu is the same. I ordered the French Toast combo and it was good. My dad had the lemon ricotta pancakes and the lemon ricotta was very good. I would get the French toast again and ask if I can get the lemon ricotta with it. The service was also very good. No long wait. The atmosphere was also pretty nice.

Maxine L.

Yelp
I live by here, pass by all the time, and finally came by to try it! Came for a weekend brunch and it was quite crowded. We had to wait ~10-15 min. You can put your number down so they'll call you once your table is ready. The place itself is pretty large. There were a bunch of families who bring their kids and I think it's really cute that they have kid menus that kids can decorate which they then hang on the wall. As mentioned in other reviews, the menu has a lot of options which is always nice. I ordered the Issaquah breakfast strata which came with fruit on the side. The strata is pretty much like a quiche, but without the pie crust, and drenched in hollandaise sauce. Altogether, it was really delicious, the strata was nice and soft and flavorful. The row of color coordinated fruit was extra satisfying haha Service was nice and quick as well! Super solid place for a nice basic brunch. With enough variety to satisfy anyone in the group. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Food wasn't the best tasting I've had, but for the low price and amount of food it was definitely worth going! Service was fast and friendly and the bathrooms were extremely clean.

Jillian R.

Yelp
The food here is always consistently good! It's a great brunch spot on the weekends, but I live close enough that I often grab some lunch during the week as well. The omelettes are fluffy and fantastic, but one of my favorite breakfast foods there are the biscuits and gravy with eggs. Their sausage gravy is so rich and flavorful! It's always enough food for two meals for me. You can get fruit as a side if you want to be healthier but I always get the hash browns. If you're in the mood for something sweet, don't miss the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes! I usually order pickup, and service is always friendly and prompt. This hard-working family owned restaurant is a real neighborhood gem.

Tyler K.

Yelp
I came here while I killed time for an urgent care appointment. If eating pancakes while waiting for health care isn't a great metaphor for the American health care system, I don't know what is. Good service, lots of options, none of it that flavorful.

Estella K.

Yelp
Got hungry while running errands and decided to check this place out! We went during peak (12pm on Saturday) and were seated right away at the high top table. Service was quick and the server was very friendly! We were overwhelmed at how big the menu was! Reminds you of a diner. Loved the vibe and how good the food was! We ordered one breakfast item and one lunch item to share. We got the Denver omelette & BLT with their soup of the day (tomato basil soup). Denver: it was ok. The kitchen seemed really busy and the bell pepper, onions and ham didn't taste like they were sautéed for long enough and cheese wasn't fully melted. Blt + tomato soup: tomato paired very well with the BLT. It was just creamy enough for me! Excited to try other things on the menu next time, especially their Mexican themed brunch items

Jennifer H.

Yelp
You definitely get a good bang for your buck here! This restaurant is in a great location if you are hungry before or after doing some local shopping. It does get crowded in the weekends so you might have to wait a bit. We popped in here on a Saturday afternoon and waited for a bit but they will take your number and call you when a table is ready so that's nice. The menu is quite large and everything sounds good! I had a tough time choosing but ultimately went with the smoked salmon scramble and a biscuit. It also comes with your choice of fruit or potatoes. I was quite full afterward and enjoyed it although it wasn't the most flavorful. The eggs were cooked nice and soft so I liked that. The waitress was sweet and let me wrap up half of my biscuit since I couldn't finish it! I would definitely come back here to try some of their other menu items, especially the Mexican themed brunch!

Yelp
My goto brunch place in Ballard when I just feel like some eggs, veggies and good ol' diner breakfast. They are east to locate, parking is never a problem because they are right next to a garage. They have big windows that one can sit at and watch life and cars go by. Good service too. This is a comfortable reliable neighborhood option for me.

Kathy M.

Yelp
We found this place dropping our car at Les Schwab. We asked if they knew any breakfast place. They told us to walk a few blocks to a nice breakfast place. It was very comfortable there. The Elvis French toast was delicious. Sweet and crunchy . And we ordered a plate called Bell town. Has fruit and scrambled eggs. It was quite delicious.

Marcus S.

Yelp
Came here before getting the weekly grocery visit out of the way. Conveniently located on the bottom part of the Ballard Blocks complex, it is perfect for others doing the same thing, a meal before or after shopping in the area. Right off the bat, you'll see that the menu here is pretty big. It reminds me of a diner. If you know me, you know I love diners so this was great. I looked over the menu seeing all sorts of good stuff and settled on the Latin section and went with the Spicy Migas - Chorizo, tortilla strips, green onions, and salsa mozzarella cheese. With a very generous dollop of sour cream. It was great. A nice bit of spice, and the plate it was served on kept it warm throughout. Definitely would get this again. I also got a side stack of pancakes. A bit high at $8.75 for 2 and $1 more for 3. They were great, just high. Surprisingly fluffy and reminded me of IHOP which I like. Specifically, because now, I know I don't have to seek out an IHOP for these. This visit was a Saturday and as expected it was quite busy. Despite that, it was only a 20-minute wait, which was more like 15 minutes. They allow you to leave a number so that you can receive a call or text when a table is ready. The waiting area is small and can only seat 2 maybe 3 people. So with it being cold outside went upstairs to Ross to kill some time. If you're looking for breakfast while hitting some other shops and businesses - The Egg and Us will do fine.

Celina S.

Yelp
This place is ok if you're feeling brunch but we preferred Pete's Egg Nest, their sister restaurant. We ordered the chorizo benedict and a couple scramble/omelettes. Idk, just not anything special about this place.

Javier C.

Yelp
This place is amazing for breakfast all breakfast. It's amazing especially the Mexican food they have. I never taste a few but they cook pretty well. Congratulations egg & us keep up!

Phil G.

Yelp
Good place for breakfast. Quick, friendly service. Good sized portions. Coffee was fresh and tasty. Nothing fancy but obviously popular with local families.

Joachim S.

Yelp
Place was very busy but wait list moved along. The wait was worth it as the food was great and portions generous. There are several cafes in the area with similar menus but the quality here was a notch above the rest.

J K.

Yelp
Solid breakfast joint in that new area by the Ballard bridge. Parking was easier than I thought.

Rhonda C.

Yelp
Great service. Not too busy on a weekday at 11:25am but was getting busier as we left. Bring a jacket-it is chilly inside. I got the Country Burrito-it was tasty but I would have loved more tater tots and bacon inside. We then ordered a side of tots and they were perfect-hot, crunchy and delicious. I had a few bites of my husbands waffle and it was SO good!! Did not try his sausage but he said they were very good and they were much larger than he expected. There was free parking in a deck next to restaurant. As a bonus there is a Trader Joe's next door. We will definitely return.

Emily R.

Yelp
Food is super Yummy, kids options are unlimited! I got my food to go but there's tons of seating inside and they're always busy! Super close to some fitness gyms and post offices so you can get everything done in one go!

Jennifer N.

Yelp
I love The Egg & Us. The service is always great, everyone is so friendly. I always get either the Mexican Scramble or the Mexican Skillet. Potatoes, eggs and peppers are some of my favorite things and I'm never disappointed.

Thomas L.

Yelp
Unless you have nothing but time don't eat here. 7 people in the restaurant and our food took 30 minutes.

David K.

Yelp
What a cute place! Happens to be close to our Airbnb, very clean, great service. Absolutely delicious sandwich, salad, poached, eggs, and avocado, even the water was great, and the hot sauce with fresh. Will return soon.

Ronald N.

Yelp
Went to this place with a co worker during lunch, we both had the fish and chips, man talk about unsatisfied, the fish clearly has been in the freezer for a long period of time, it was completely absolutely dry and they only gave us 2 little pieces, the fries weren't even a decent portion.. for $20

Debi H.

Yelp
Brand new-a couple of days open. Food was great service pleasant and plentiful. Parking is tough as the center has multi business and restaurants.

Little Black Dress W.

Yelp
So good! Great service. Good prices. Nice portions, with parking garage next store and street parking, easy access too.

Madi L.

Yelp
We were here from out of town and we're up early due to the time change, and Egg & Us was open, so we went! There were only a few people there but the service was friendly and quick. For a restaurant, I thought the coffee was delicious (and I'm picky about coffee). My husband and I both got scrambles, which came with hash browns (or fruit) and a biscuit (or toast) The serving was large! It was so full of flavor and absolutely delicious. There is plenty of seating both indoor and out. They placed great music and it was a good atmosphere.

John S.

Yelp
This resto is the BEST! The help, the menu, the location - everything is great and they are VERY consistent. Every meal is prepared the same way as last, no surprises, and the portions are honest! They get my rare FIVE STAR rating.

Carlos B.

Yelp
My sister really likes this breakfast joint, so when I flew into town for a less than 24 hour trip ... she insisted we have breaky. This is my 2nd time here. Thankfully, it's comfortably busy, meaning popular enough to sustain business but not-so-busy you can't get a table. Our server was friendly, fast and accurate. We started with Irish Coffee to start our bender. Then I rolled with Farmers Benedict. Not sure what my sister ordered. The ambiance is subtly loud with conversation and positive energy. The decor is simple, yet clean (admittedly I'm here for a good time, not a long time. Let alone judge the decoration!)

Jack H.

Yelp
Pretty generous portion of fruit for the price of the two eggs and toast breakfast. Unlike so many Seattle restaurants I didn't feel I overpaid for mediocre food and that's the biggest thing. Food wasn't mind blowing or anything but the service was good, it came out quick, and the eggs were cooked over medium as requested and toast lightly buttered.

Dee M.

Yelp
We got a Santa Fe breakfast and Mexican breakfast plate. The guacamole and salsa were fresh. The rice and beans were also some of the best I've had. My only complaint would be the peppers used in the scramble having a vinegar after taste, making the whole meal a little bitter. The servers were very kind and sweet.

Morgan M.

Yelp
Came here for brunch after having such a good experience at their sister restaurant, Pete's Eggnest. Asked the host to sit us outside since we brought our pup. She hesitated and stated that the waitress didn't want to serve people outside but she'll ask her anyways. We were seated and waited 30 minutes. Nobody came and helped us so we left. Totally empathize if your team is understaffed or too busy but she came out 3x to help the table next to us but didn't say a single word to us. Seemed a tad bit petty on her part. Don't open your outdoor seating if you are going to act like that! ‍

Colleen K.

Yelp
One of my new favorite places for breakfast & lunch! I've had their Eggs Benedict with a biscuit too, but definitely want to keep going and try their other items. I appreciate the reasonable prices, which is hard to find in Seattle!!

Yelp
What a cute brunch spot in Ballard! Been past this hundreds of times but never thought to pop in. So glad my meal companion suggested on a busy Sunday morning! They were able to seat us fast and kept our coffee mugs filled. The meal was exactly what you'd expect at a diner-ish spot! Hearty and homey. Delicious. We were recommended the lemon ricotta pancakes when we couldn't figure out what to get for sweets and I am so thankful for our server. It was so freaking good and jam packed w fresh fruit!!! I am salivating thinking about this and definitely will get again when I go back. Service is super nice and they have a large patio seating with heat lamps so continue taking advance of this while we still can! Definitely don't miss out on this spot for your next brunch ventures!

Nettie H.

Yelp
The saddest lunch I've ever had! I work in the neighborhood, and had been craving a BLT for lunch. I looked at their online menu, and was happy to see it was offered. I called in the order to go. When I got to work and took a bite I discovered it was dry toast with old bacon, (it reminded me of beef jerky in texture) one sad slice of thin tomato, and the lettuce was a sprinkling of baby greens. (Which was a wilted mess) I'm sure the breakfast selection is better, but for the expensive price of $18 for a simple sandwich, I don't think I would ever go back.

Maggie W.

Yelp
This is the bestest place for breakfast! Their lemon ricotta pancakes are to die for! They are always delicious and we crave it every time we go there. There various selections of omelettes and hot breakfast items are always tasty. It is usually pretty crowded on the weekends, but they are organized. There is a waitlist and they will call you when it is your turn. Really love the service, people, and food here! Definitely our go to place for breakfast in the mornings :)

Nick S.

Yelp
The Egg & Us is my go-to spot whenever I'm in the area. Clean place with indoor & outdoor seating, smaller bar w/ 2 TV's. The food is delicious. Carnitas Breakfast plate. Eggs of your choice. I like em scrambled ‍. Country potatoes for me as well. 3 homemade tortillas. Large amount of Carnitas Cilantro. Salt. Pepper. Hot sauce. Make 3 tacos yourself, then scrape up the rest! Enjoy!

Mia Z.

Yelp
This is the same network as Pete's egg nest. More space, and in Ballard with plenty of parking. You can get brunch here to stop by Trader Joe's or stop by brunch after LA fitness! Menu is the same good. Food and prices are decent. It is a solid place for breakfast. We got French toast, eggs Benedict(so frickin good), biscuits and gravy, veggie skillet. It's a big menu and I think they make everything well here.

Yang Y.

Yelp
The lemon ricotta pancakes were A++. I'll be back for them again someday no doubt. The savory dish we ordered was decent, but nothing to write home about. Moral of the story: if you're in the mood for sweet, go w the lemon ricotta pancakes and you won't be disappointed.

Joelle P.

Yelp
Biscuits and gravy and guava mimosa (top) Country skillet and strawberry mimosa (bottom) DELISH! But the service was the highlight-they were great!!!

Kay D.

Yelp
Love this place. Great food, huge portions and very friendly staff. Busy but worth it.

Angel C.

Yelp
The eggs and us is a nice little brunch spot that is basically what you would expect from a brunch place. The food was good, nothing amazing but when you're craving hash browns and American breakfast, it really hits! Went at around 11AM on a Sunday and although it was busy, we were able to get seated after only around a 20 minute wait. During that time we just walked around the PCC next door and there are also other shops like Ross or Trader Joe's u can visit while waiting. Got a couple of mimosas that had a very nice champagne content (: The Benedict with chorizo were delicious though! And the portions were huge! Lots of space for COVID safety as well.

Lisa O.

Yelp
Food was exactly as I wanted and expect...comfort food! Pleasant waiter.its very crowded and would be challenging for anyone with a walker, wheelchair, etc.

Courtney F.

Yelp
The Egg & Us is consistent. And that's what I love about it. The food is reliable and tasty. If you're looking for traditional breakfast food (and lots of options) this is your spot. What I ordered below: -California Burrito (scrambled eggs, mozzarella, ham, avo, cheddar) -Tomato, bacon & cheddar omelette -Guava Mimosas

Mary A.

Yelp
Really great breakfast. Fast great service too. We had a BLT and Benedict. Easy free parking too.

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
I really liked The Egg & Us! They were pretty busy at around 10:30am on a Sunday (not surprising!) but we were able to get seated right away which was great. The service was really fast and the woman who took our order was very nice! The huevos rancheros were delicious. My boyfriend got the Swedish pancakes which were so good too. I will be coming back here for sure!

Tahni H.

Yelp
This was my second visit to the Egg & Us and I really like this place. It has a regular diner feel but with that something extra. The menu has several Mexican-inspired dishes and they even make their own preserves, which I really appreciated. Prices are fair. Portions are huge. No frills, just basic deliciousness. All the tables were consistently full the majority of the time we were there. I went on a Saturday morning around 11am this last time, and knew it would likely be super busy. They quoted us a 10 min wait and then called our cell phone to let us know our table was ready. The portions here are monstrous so make sure you do bring a healthy appetite. My friend wanted to order a second item because he was so hungry, but I warned him against it and he agreed once he saw his plate. He polished off his whole omelet, and I probably had a good 30% left. I really enjoyed the Champion omelet! I've also had the breakfast burrito here which is massive and really tasty! I highly recommend The Egg & Us in Ballard!

Linda L.

Yelp
The Egg and Us is owned by the same people who own Pete's Eggnest on Phinney, which I regularly go to. Actually didn't realize the connection until I went to the Egg and Us and saw a very, very familiar looking menu. Unlike Pete's though, the Eggnest is a bit larger and takes reservations. Everything on the menu is delicious and their hash brown potatoes are perfectly crispy. They have this item called a strata on the menu which is worth trying - it's kind of like the eggy part of a quiche but denser and with a rich sauce. My one negative is that I wish they offered espresso or real cream with the coffee.
