the Eldo

In spite of the fact we live right down the street, this is the first time we've been here. We've heard good things about The Eldo, but weren't sure what to expect. The parking lot is pretty small and a tight squeeze because there were so many cars here, and this was on a Wednesday. The Eldo includes a sports bar with several TVs, so it's a little noisy. My wife and I were seated after waiting about 5 minutes. We ordered the large pretzel to start and shared the Pork Chop. As I write this, I can't recall ever eating a pretzel baked to where the outside was as crunchy as this one was, and soft on the inside. Biting into it was incredibly satisfying and kept me coming back for more. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. The stuffing was really delicious. What a wonderful surprise The Eldo turned out to be. I now understand why there were so many people there in the middle of the week. If the rest of the menu is anything like what we enjoyed, you'll be in for a treat.

Amazing Rib Eye, the braised Ox Tail in a rich gravy was excellent and perfectly cooked. It comes with garlic mashed and their veggies. Delicious and a must-try if you love Ox tails.

My friend took me here about a month ago and I had wanted to try it for a while. It was my first time trying steak actually, and I really enjoyed it. The filet mignon nachos were delicious and very filling, so having this as an appetizer for steak might be a bit much combined but honestly it was still very good. The drinks could’ve been a little more subtle as the one I had was very strong in taste. Our server was very friendly and attentive and got everything we needed quickly. Our dessert was delicious and would highly recommend trying.

Nice place very crowded on Saturdays and parking is limted. Had the chicken fried steak and id was good. They have a good selection of draft beers. Be advised this a sports bar so it is very bar and very noisy.

This was our first visit but not our last. I would say this restaurant is a neighborhood gem. The restaurant was busy. If you have a reservation, you get inside seating . If you walk up, you can eat at the bar or there is open seating on t patio. We accessed the menu using a QR code. However for the technology challenged crowd, they have pads with the menu listed I had a ginger beer. My husband had a chocolate shake made with Thrifty Ice cream. I would have had a cone but Chocolate Malted Crunch was not one of the flavors available. For food, we had the garlicky cheesy, buttery bread (I think we will have to order a loaf for every visit) Hubby had the half order of fish and chips. Fish was light the batter was crispy. The chips were battered as well. I had a cup of chicken and dumplings soup and the beef stroganoff. We would order these items again . However on the next visit, we are going to order something else lots to try….burgers or steak.

Absolutely delicious authentic South African food! Mixed in the menu are also several American dishes, so it allows the less adventurist diner to try some menu items while having the safety of ribeye steak, etc. Service level from Audrey was excellent. Give them a try and come hungry! It might be helpful if the menu highlighted the authentic South African dishes better.

GO FOR THE BIG PRETZEL AND THE LAMB CURRY! We had the Big Pretzel, the Durban Lamb Curry, the Shepherds Pie and Malva Cake and all were amazing! Great Service too. Gets busy, make reservations for busy times.

Came here for the Heady Topper stayed for the food! We made a reservation because I heard it was the only way to sit inside the restaurant part, that was easy to do. We got there and we had a bit of a wait because they wanted to make sure the server had time with her tables before giving her another which was a great idea. The bar area was busy but still had some space, I’d don’t last long. We had some margaritas which are so fresh and so yummy and I had a Heady Topper which is hard to come by on the west coast! We ordered the pretzel, corn dog and zucchini for starters. Everything was hot and flavorful. Zucchini was some of the best we’ve had in a long time. It was fresh, light batter and fried to perfection! For the main event we had the filet, fish and chips and one of their beef pies……. 10/10!!! /all of it done and done well!! So tasty and we enjoyed it all! When it comes to steak my wife can be picky but she ate it all and loved it! We will be back!! I suggest you give it a try!
