Enjoyed a quick stop to have a cider at the Elephant Room before the concert. The bartender was friendly and delivered great service. The bathrooms were clean. The drinks were great! The menu had a variety of drinks options.

Google
I honestly think this is the longest bar top in Detroit. The owners are great and the drinks are amazing. The Chef today had AMAZING food and I mean AMAZING...Chef Meech. James the owner was on hand and always friendly to whomever walks in. The elephant concept is great and the murals come alive outside. Also a bonus....St Andrews us next door. So if you are looking for a spot to pregame the Lions, Tigers, Wings or Pistons and also even concerts.....do not hesitate to pop in.....have a drink and get something to eat. Support your small businesses.

Went for a quick bite after an event next door at St. Andrew’s. Super chill, not overly crowded, crafted drinks and flavorful food for added comforts! Me and my girls had the hibachi wraps and bowls, sat at the bar and had a good time! Definitely will return.

Last night I came here for the first time with a group of friends. I enjoyed the ambience of the bar. Very chill, and all the staff were very kind. The owner/manager greeted our table and made sure we were all good. Drinks were strong enough to get you there, but not overpowering. I would definitely return 😊

Google
Came for a friends birthday celebration, it was 4 of us and the bartender and manager were phenomenal! They provided excellent service. Also, the food representing for the night was Hibachi, our bowls were delicious!

Stopped here before a concert at st Andrew's. First time here, drinks during happy hour are a good deal. Food is pretty good, really enjoyed the queso dip and also the chicken fingers were very good. They do take reservations but those were not needed on a Thursday night. Parking is either on the street or at one of the local lots. This is on the first floor and no stairs.

Despite information on website and recorded message with operating hours on phone line….. the building was closed/ locked shut on two occasions: Tuesday 6/24 and Wed 6/26 at 6:30 pm. No sign posted at entrance/ no response to “ringing” at front door/ no response to voice messages.

Google

Yelp
We like to hit The Elephant Room for some cocktails (and food if we have the munchies.) Located on Congress by St. Andrew's Hall, you can find plenty of cozy seating and friendly staff. We always order up some delicious craft cocktails before heading off to our next journey. Be sure to check out The Elephant Room! It's a great spot for groups, girls night, date night!

Yelp
The only reason we were in TSUN was to see the Metallica show at Ford Field. We found a great spot to park for free near the casino. Next was to find a place to eat that was within walking distance to the venue. So, I pulled out my phone and started looking for restaurants on the Yelp app. After a couple of minutes, I decided that we should come here due to the positive reviews and pictures of great looking food. When we walked into the place it was packed with groups of people having a great time. I loved the exposed brick walls and the tin ceiling tiles. There is a long bar with several televisions over it on one side. The tables are located opposite and along the bottom of the bar. Do not forget to check out the elephants that are carved into the wooden posts behind the bar. Of course, we started out with drinks. We both opted for a local craft draft beer, the Atwater DHH IPA. It was a solid IPA; hoppy, citrusy, strong but not too strong. The perfect beer for our shared meal. There was a table of ladies next to us having a very, very good time at their bachelorette party, a couple were even dancing around their table. We did not have much time before the show started so we decided to get a couple of appetizers to split. The Fried Chicken Tenders and the Rio Grande Shrimp. Both were AMAZING! We received six tenders that were medium sized, very lightly breaded, crunchy and so juicy that they were glistening on the inside. YUMMY! The Rio Grande Shrimp were served on a bed of lettuce, topped with cilantro, a house made remoulade, and diced red, yellow and orange bell peppers. There were nine shrimps on the platter which were cooked perfectly, as they were also glistening. I wished we had one more shrimp, so I did not have to split it with my man...lol. It was the perfect sized meal for us so we did not have any leftovers that would have sit in the car for several hours while we were at the concert. I'm so happy that we agreed to eat here. When we come back to TSUN for another event near this particular venue, we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Drinks are great and the price is great. Honestly not much else you need to know for a bar. Would definitely go again!

Yelp
I lbase reviews based on accessibility. Easy entrance and handicap fairly decent bathroom. However all tables are high tops with the exception of a small couch and chairs section at the back. To be honest not sure how to rate it as I'm an ambulatory person who needs assistance walking. Beside the accessible points the bartenders are super friendly and make great drinks. We had food today and it was delicious! We are waiting to go into the show next door at Saint Andrew's. I would highly recommend before going to the show.

Yelp
Went on a Sunday night. Not too busy. Vibes were good. Cocktails were tasty. Kitchen was not open.

Yelp
We had a blast here! The vibe was right, the service at the bar was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our drinks were good, the burger and fries served their purpose after a day full of day drinking. I'd absolutely stop in here again! We had brunch with bottomless mimosas nearby on a Saturday, stopped at one other spot for a shot and exited quickly as it was hot and smelly and I wasn't feeling it, but this place was solid so we stayed until it was time to leave and head to the airport as I had a flight home that night. Yelp
Solid atmosphere, great service, and great drinks choices! The staff was incredibly friendly and the vibe was "busy but not too busy". My only complaint is that, even for pub grub, the food is a bit of a miss. Super dry chicken (literally couldn't swallow without a drink) and overall both meals (shrimp and chicken) lacked actual seasoning. Again, not the place you're going for fine dining, but still totally worth checking out!

Yelp
Visiting from ATL and LA .. Brook and Conner are great bartenders (give them a raise!) ... sat at the bar with a friend. Drinks and convo were awesome. Great place to decompress after a busy day. -Bruce and Imani

Yelp
The staff and management are amasing. The ambience is so welcoming and chill. It's an excellent spot to meet with friends, have date night, solo at the bar. I highly recommend this place. They're welcoming and warming. The food is delicious. It's not fine dining, but it's not sub-par bar fare either. The head chef is young and hip and his wait staff is there to assist in your foods and libations needs. I love elephants, very special in my culture, and they had elephants everywhere!!! Photos, figurines, portraits/murals on the wall. This past week, I was there three times, on my hiatus from work. Along with the other out of town guests, many well known Detroiters made their appearance. Cheers, Xiang

Yelp
Have you checked out the gorgeous bar? Tall beautifully detailed ceilings, long wooden bar, cozy brick walls. Loved this classic setting. We enjoyed the coke old fashioned & the fresh margarita.

Yelp
Food was great and so happy to have so many different gluten free options! I will say service was a little crazy and it wasn't really busy. Our bill came and we had other tables items on it. We finally got it squared away and thank goodness we had no other plans for the night. It was also great to have non alcoholic mock tails and beer.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome vibe on a Wednesday night with the most welcoming bartender. After being ignored at the sloppy crab, I was starving and needed a friendly face. The Elephant Room was perfect. They have a short menu but I went with the barkeep's recommendation and ordered the perch dinner. It's fried in cornmeal and served with fries and a tart coleslaw. Like it hot? Ask for the tasty and spicy house hot sauce. Overall vibe went from quiet cool to lively hip as people filled in through the night. Cool find in downtown Detroit.

Yelp
Had a burger, chicken strips & fries. The food was delicious, came out quick and was reasonably priced. Our server was polite and did great job.

Yelp
Super cool ambiance. Historic building, tin ceiling, brick walls & cool photos. Great, friendly service. The nachos with chicken are good.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! My daughter has Celiac and she was SO excited that she could order anything on the menu! To start, the ambiance is fantastic! Even when full, it wasn't too loud or crowded. The cocktails/mocktails were great! Our waitress made us drinks based on our preferences and everyone was very happy. The food was good. The fries were the best! My daughter loved the burger, I wish GF stuff tasted as good as non-GF stuff but, IMO it just doesn't. The cauliflower was great! Chili cheese fries were good, but spicy! The staff are awesome, and we will definitely be back!

Joseph R.

Yelp
Great tequila selection. I love the revolving pop up kitchen with new dishes every day. The owner Andrew is usually there who is so cool and down to earth as well as the General Manager James! Great place to eat and drink in DETROIT!

Yelp
So it's St. Patrick's Day, nice outside, but the bf and I didn't necessarily want to bump bellies with the drunken Leprechaun crowd. We luckily meandered our way down Congress into this beautifully restored space. The ceilings are restored to their former glory, exposed brick for days, and elephants everywhere - talk about luck! The bartender is bouncing off the walls energetic and cool. The vibe is Chicago house party with the right groove. But the food! I was not expecting there to be a kitchen, let alone slammin' corned beef n cabbage! They do a rotating theme menu Thursday through Saturday and a brunch on Sunday. Tomorrow is Turkish street food, featuring an array of kebobs. But back to the boiled plate. Corned beef is real deal from Wigley's in Eastern Market. Cabbage, carrots n potatoes not mushy. Beautiful octagonal cut in carrots - I know that's not important, but lends presentation and grace to an otherwise "blue collar" dish. Bf's perch is wild caught Canadian lake perch. Crispy fried n clean, not salty, but flavorful. Chef Nate came out to inquire about our meal. He was so gracious, I wanted to hug him (not because of Covid n all). Everyone working here wasn't working. They were grooving with you. They even treated us to a free green tea. You feel at home in this beautiful space, with elevated taste. Bingo. This is what Detroit needs to elevate. Sit high atop an elephant here.

Yelp
Stopped in here to grab a drink and an appetizer. I really like the vibe of this place. It was kind of dark but I liked the decorations and the bar area. Our bartender was really nice and funny. Can't remember his name but he said it was only his first day but he was such a natural. It was a Tuesday night and not very busy but there were a few others here. I wasn't aware that they didn't serve their regular menu on Tuesdays and instead it's a varying popup menu so that's the menu I posted but it's not their usual menu. We order the brushetta and it was delicious. I didn't take many pics because my phone was almost dead. This place was kind of pricey but l liked this spot andI would come back for sure when I'm back in Detroit.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've posted, namely because evidently I have been put on some sort of "Black List" by Yelp Elite after six years as a member.... But I digress. I've been meaning to check this place out since it opened pre-Covid, but just haven't had the opportunity. My wife and I were on the way back from out of state and thought it would be great time (being a weeknight) to check it out. The decor is very cool - kind of old school 40's nightclub meets African Safari. Most of the folks were sitting at the bar, so we chose a high top. The menu is small, but packed with quality. Imma big believer in the fact if you do what you do well, you don't need fifty things on your menu...and I wasn't displeased here. I went with the French Dip, and my wife a shrimp Po Boy. Both were quite good, as was the calamari appetizer we had. One thing - my wife found the Po Boy too spicy for her, so we switched half way through. For me, I definitely found it tingled the lips and cleared my sinuses, but it was delicious. About the time we were finishing, Andrew, the owner, came in. While he had obviously had a good time that night, he was extremely friendly in an old school business owner way. My wife and I found that his interactions with his staff were very laid back too, which was cool, but some of the other customers seemed to not find it so...but you'll have that. All in all, we found the experience very good and we will definitely return.

Yelp
My co-workers and I wandered into this place on a Friday afternoon...almost 20 minutes before they opened! (Oops!!) The staff was incredibly kind and patient, they made sure we were taken care of. The menu is small, but quality. What more do you need from a bar? Everyone in our group of 6 was very satisfied with their food and drinks, the charcuterie board is where it's at! It came out beautifully, and was more than enough for our group to share as an appetizer. For one of my co-workers it was his very first day with our company, the ambiance here provided the perfect atmosphere to celebrate and get to know each other. Shoutout to our bartender, Brit, and to Andrew for providing excellent customer service and making us feel so welcomed. We will definitely be returning here.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Sunday evening. Great little place. Clean and quiet. Had a couple of TV with sports playing. Staff was great. Kitchen was limited on food but the food was good. The drinks were decent as well. We would come back here for sure.
google avatar

Thomas G.

Yelp
Very limited menu selection but they have a ton of beverages. This night we were looking for a good dinner and our calamari was just ok. Beer was cold. Service was a juggling act on our visit.
google avatar

Dalia R.

Yelp
Great atmosphere with unique decorations (ie elephants ). Brick wall accent and lots of twinkle lights. The service was a little slow but granted it was very busy when I went. They have lots of food/snack options. Drinks were okay but not anything of a specialty bar. Tried an old fashioned and a rosemary soda cocktail. Both had good flavor but tasted watered down. Location is right next to St Andrew's music hall and is a great spot to hang out before/after a concert!
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden GEM Absolutely awesome place, some friends and I finished off a 5 hour concert just parched and hungry (and cold). So we saw this place in Yelp, looked super chill and sounded decent so we walked there on the way back. Owner was super accommodating and had food made for us (cook came through too) saving the night. Big props to them, food was delicious and drink selection was dumb huge. We will definitely be back next time we're down here for a show or just in the area. Again big props to the owner and everyone was chill. Our bartender was fantastic as well.

Yelp
We came in to kill sometime in between events. Have a drink and something to hold us over until we get something a little more proper later. We had the mussels which was rather "eh!" Lacked a bit of gusto... i dunno what but it just want anything to be wowed about. The drinks were pretty good. That nitro cold brew cocktail was actually superb. Perfect for the hot summer days, ya kno. This place is pretty chill. Im digging the whole industrial classy feel of the setting. The service is on point. Staff is super friendly and extremely attentive. I'd definitely come drink here again. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!

Yelp
I stopped by with a friend based on the location. There's a parking lot right next door, though pricey (probably due to location) but convenient. The place has a sophisticated yet comfortable ambiance. The lighting is subdued and the decor is trendy. A perfect place to catch up with a friend or to go for a date before or after an event downtown. The staff members were all friendly and welcoming. It's more of an upscale bar with a limited menu, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for dinner. However, there are sufficient options for appetizers or even for a dinner. I was hoping for a basic grilled chicken breast sandwich, but they had something "fancier" that you could order as a sandwich or salad. My friend made the better choice in ordering this dish as a salad. I opted for an open-faced sandwich and it didn't come with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese or anything else you might expect. The salad, however, came on a large bed of lettuce with tomatoes, beets and feta cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I wasn't blown away by the "sandwich," as it seemed dry and lacked flavor- though it came with an olive tapenade and a bean tapenade, neither of which I cared for as my personal preference. The only advantage to the sandwich is that it came with french fries that were tasty. Order the salad version!! On my food alone, I would give this spot three stars, but went with four stars based on the potential if you would order the salad and also based on ambiance, staff friendliness, and attentive service. Definitely check it out!

Matthew G.

Yelp
This place is great. Everyone is very nice, especially the people who work here. It's a BEAUTIFUL, historic place. They have great popups do the food. Beverage selection is very, very good. Good sound system and music selection. The ceiling tiles are amazing. Seriously. Thank you.

Yelp
Highly recommend, one of the best spots in Greektown. Between the gluten free menu and patio dj spinning, it's a great place to start or end your night!
google avatar

Yelp
I have just one thing to say, if you like a dirty martini, this is your place. Legit. Best I have had in a while. Order a vodka martini, dirty, with 3 blue cheese olives. I like Tito's but order vodka of your choice, delicious.

Loren S.

Yelp
I love this bar it's such a great spot the bartenders dria, Frankie and Chris are really great highly recommend coming here great service wonderful atmosphere and bomb ass drinks and food love it

Yelp
My partner and I decided to check this place out on a Saturday evening! He has been before multiple times, but it was my first time and I kept seeing/hearing about it on Instagram. Parking was pretty easy, they have a lot on the side and there is street parking which is typical in Downtown Detroit. We ended up sitting at the bar and ordering a round of old fashions, which were made to perfection. I ordered the calamari appetizer which was so good - the flavors, the cheese, the peppers, I've never had calamari like this before, it was almost like a salad. For my main dish, I ordered the salmon sandwich - I thought it was bacon, but it was salmon cooked like bacon, so good. The vibe was cool, it wasn't too packed and the music was dope as well. This is definitely a cool spot to go for a quick bite or a date night!

Jesse C.

Yelp
The food here is delicious! The best part is it is all gluten free, so there's no worry of cross contamination during cooking. The bar is stocked. The music creates such a great vibe with the decor. Think I found a new favorite place downtown. We were walk ins and they were able to fit our party of seven without an issue.

Chris C.

Yelp
Solid nope. Came here on a busy night for the city, but this place was a ghost town - which should have boded well for me. Not the case in the least. Came in around 7:30, sat at the bar. The bartender was clearly high or drunk but I still went ahead with my order. Got a cheeseburger with an egg and bacon, no bun. I had a busy long day so at first I didn't notice while just browsing my phone, but when I looked at my watch nearly 45 minutes had gone by. No checking in on me, the guy wasn't even around most of the time. The one time I did see him he was eating his own dinner. A lady came out from the back and I flagged her down noting the long time. She said "should be just a minute"....well, try another 20 because the ticket never got entered. The drunk bartender came back, I asked him about it again and he finally coped to not putting in the order. Said it was "human error" and he was sorry. So at least that happened. To his credit, he cut the bill in half. So alright, bad service, but hey I got my meal right? Well not anything I would eat. By then it had been so long I asked for it to go. Got back to the hotel, opened up the box and man...I've never seen a burger that made me lurch before and want to become vegan. I can only describe it has hate food - no matter what their standards really are, this was below them. Nasty meat, nasty cheese, all slipped together in a pile I expected to talk to me and beg for its life. Super fatty meat and slimy "cheese" some tbhing or other. Took two bites and threw it away fearing I would be sick. Didnt even have plastic ware to eat anything with. Went downstairs and ate at the hotel bar after spending two hours of my night trying to get a decent meal at this place. To throw it away. Would not eat here for any reason again.

Yelp
Great place for gluten free. They have GF beer... fry'r dedicated to French fries that are GF.

Yelp
Great food but small menu and very different than what most sites seem to have. Staff was lovely when they paid attention, but food came out very slowly. Weird ID check out front, seemed unnecessary. Only high-top seating. Open late!

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend before we went to a concert next door at St. Andrew's Hall. It is literally right next door, so it was super convenient. Up front is a super nice looking long bar with some tables to the right. It was very crowded up front so we went all the way to the back where there were a few empty tables. It looks like they have live music some nights as there was a mic and everything set up. We were in a bit of a rush, so we ordered drinks, and when he came back with our drinks, we ordered our food. I ordered the smoked brisket grilled cheese and my boyfriend ordered the chicken strips. The food came out relatively quick. My boyfriends chicken strips were so well done and rock hard, I was not a fan. There was so much breading on the outside, he ended up picking most of it off, and very little meat was left in the middle. (I spoke with my friend later who works next door and comes here frequently, and apparently that is just how their chicken strips are supposed to be). My grilled cheese was soooooo hot, but oddly enough the cheese in the inside wasn't melted. It was good, but nothing to write home about. It came with a bag of chips on the side. Overall this place is ok if you are looking for a quick bite to eat, but I think if I ever came back here, I would just stick to the drinks.

Jeff M.

Yelp
Poor service and food. The staff seemed tired and not very helpful. All four of our dinners were incorrect. My hamburger was ordered well done and was cooked rare. I asked for it to be redone and was told it would be a long wait so to asked for a refund. I was left with nothing to eat while the others in our party finished their meals. Unacceptable.

Kathy H.

Yelp
Very cute place. Service is very slow bar staff prefer to talk to each other and play on their phone than wait on customers. Probably won't go back food is mediocre at best
google avatar

Anthony S.

Yelp
Great place to grab a drink before a show at Saint Andrews/The Shelter. Friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks. They also have a diverse food menu that is celiac friendly.
google avatar

Sunil A.

Yelp
To say I was excited that there was a bar right next to St. Andrews Hall is really an understatement. There is far too many cold night concerts in this city and not enough pre-drinking options. Peeking in, it looked like a great little local, dive bar. With the city growing so rapidly and filling with these high end mixology bars, there seems to be fewer and fewer low level, classic bars to go to. This looked like it would be it. It had a nice long bar, TVs up in the corner, what appeared to be a decent selection of beer. Was excited to check it out after the concert. Never got a chance to put a foot in the door. They were charging a cover charge to go sit in a bar and listen to a DJ. Now let me ask you, why? Why does this bar need a DJ? Why does it need to charge cover? Don't get me wrong, it wasn't exorbitant by any means but come one. This is actually worse than Second Best trying to be a local "90s" bar. Bah. Guess for every good thing that happens in the city we get this kind of nonsense. Jacoby's will keep my business.
google avatar

Yelp
I have always wanted a go to bar that was around the corner from me. Something you could stop by for happy hour or for a late night drink and it never disappointed. Elephant room is exactly that! A few of my friends and I decided to stop here around 11pm on a Friday. The bar is very spacious and great for groups. There are several large tables to accommodate a party of 6 or more. We were greeted by a waitress and told to sit anywhere we liked. We decided to grab a table and check out the menu. As we talked, the best way we could describe it was that it felt like an elevated version of the downstairs Firebird in Greektown. It was a lot bigger and nicer, but similarly the music was at a good volume. You could talk to everyone around you comfortably and there was plenty of room to stand and hang out. The menu had a charcuterie board, and I couldn't say to no that! Glad we got it because it was great! A variety of different cheeses, meats, fruit and chocolate. We ended up staying later than we thought. We have already gone back a few times since. I highly recommend it! Also I love elephants, and the decorations in the place are perfect!

Yelp
This restaurant sounded fantastic and ended up being underwhelming. I was in town for the Detroit marathon, and went here with friends on a Saturday night. We got a table right away, but it took 10 minutes for a server to touch our table. The place wasn't busy, but somehow we had alternating servers all night who seemingly kept forgetting to put in our drink or food orders. A large bridal party showed up, but even that didn't seem like much "work" for the staff (table champagne and appetizers... no maintenance), yet we had to fight for attention from the staff. I understand that staff is tough to come by, but the place was not that busy and we were the opposite of needy. When we did finally get our food, it was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary or worth more than two stars.

Lex C.

Yelp
If you are black do not come to this bar. Located in downtown Detroit ( one of the blackest cities in the US) and could not get service even after asking for over 25 minutes in a nearly empty bar. My friend and I walked in around 8:20pm and was greeted by the hostess and a bartender in black. We were asked if we wanted a table or to sit at the bar. We choose a table for a little more privacy. The bar was basically empty. We sat waiting for someone to get our drink and food order for over 15 mins before the hostess walked back to the kitchen and I politely asked if the servers were going to take our order and greet us. The hostess apologized and got us water and went to the 3 bartenders and let them know we would like to place an order. 10 more minutes went by before one of the bartenders came by to offer us service, we were getting ready to leave. I have never sat that long for service in a nearly empty bar or restaurant before. If they had a lot of people we would not have minded the wait as we were just enjoying the night out but 30 mins with 3 bartenders and 9 people was ridiculous. I will not be back. We went to Maru and had excellent food, service, and drinks. Always choose to spend money where your business is appreciated and welcomed.

Kim P.

Yelp
God bless the man who can make a good gluten free meal! As someone with gluten intolerance I have to thank you for all you do. And your drinks? Amazing!

Yelp
To start with I liked the place. As Carey and I drove by on our way to The Royce she pointed to the ER and said that's my friend Chris place. After this tasting let's stop by on the way home. She said they were decorating and they were. There were elephant heads every where and every body kept apologizing for the mess. They aren't open yet. Just a couple buddies working to open a business hanging out getting odds and ends together. The space is intimate but proportional. I hear it was once a 14. Room brothel and that it's haunted. From what I saw and wanted to feel I think it's true. The crew running the joint is a solid bunch and I have nothing but the highest hopes.

Brittany A.

Yelp
I recently went to The Elephant Room for a private birthday party. Charcuterie boards with fresh fruits, cheeses and variety of crackers were served and platters displaying shrimp, salmon and meats. If that was not enough, we then were served sliders, soft shell crab legs, beautifully cooked meat and langoustines. I highly recommend this place. The staff could not have been more attentive to our needs. Please don't hesitate to give The Elephant Room a try; you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
What a beautiful place. So much work put in to create a great atmosphere. The food and service are very good too.
