The Elgin Nor-Khill - Gangtok - Heritage Resort & Spa (Since 1934)

A heritage hotel having a beautiful and attractive ambiance. Rooms are spacious and rustic. |However the tip culture is horrible. At every step the staff irritates by demanding tips. Service is not great. From room to car as many staff members you cross, everyone looks for tips. |Tips should be voluntary. Management must train the staff.

A beautiful and very well managed property….whole staff is very courteous and humble. Welcome ritual is carried out in a well organised manner and entering is made in such a good way that guests feel himself special and honoured. Welcome drink is served with pleasure which makes guests feel happy and comfortable….rooms are comfortable. The only concern is with taste of food in restaurant … though service is very good and courteous but food lacks variety and taste….authorities must take a note to improve in this sector.

Hotel was very nice and cosy. Not very big. the staff were friendly and excellent in service. We had taken half boarding which included breakfast and dinner. The food was quite good with lot of veg options. The food manager also took our suggestions and prepared specific dishes for us which really needs to be appreciated. The hotel is also close to MG Market where there is lot of shopping.

The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of MG Marg. The service is excellent and they live upto our expectations. Food is pretty good and the bar setup is so English.

The hotel is dated. There is no AC in the room. It’s a small property with relatively few amenities. So why the 5-star review? Because of its authenticity. The moment you step in, you are treated like a personal guest of the royal Chogyal family in the 1900s. The views, the decor, the impeccable and authentic staff, the gardens - you can almost visualize English Generals and Sikkim royalty sipping tea in the gardens while admiring the magnificent Kanchenjunga. It’s not a Ritz Carlton or Westin. It’s an upscale Heritage property. Notable celebrities include Pandit Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, Narendra Modi, Richard Gere, Michael Douglas.

Went in May 2025 Stayed in double deluxe room Room was quiet good and esthetic, old infrastructure but well maintained, food was good , breakfast buffets has not much options but what ever is very tasty . Overall service is good. Property located near MG road , only con you won't get that clear mountains views due to its location.

Highest level of hospitality ! Top quality food ranging from Soups to salads to Momos to Parathas to Rice favourites.. each item with its top class !! Services of staff unbelievable for the understanding of customers, modesty, affection as seen highest at Restaurant, Reception & also well supported by House keeping staff ! It’s an experience over & above so called 5 & 7 stars hotels !! Rajkishor & Ganesh at restaurant are worth highest appreciation for their qualities ! Oh amazing stay, Room was amazing. The staff very loving and caring. We loved the way they served us breakfast and dinner. |The staff asked us lovingly should we bring any food for youll. And they were always around to serve us. |Food was excellent.|Will miss the all the staff.
