WARNINGS: sexual harassment on the job, abusive workplace.
The following was posted originally from another person in another group and was immediately taken down, not myself, but the accusations and behavior exhibited by the owner and manager I have personally been witness to.
"I worked for WABco (the Emory, the WAB, port and the Loving Touch) on and off for nearly five years. Over a month ago, I sent a three page email to the main owner of WABco detailing what I see as a culture of not only physical hazard but also health, and personnel hazard. "
While employed there I was often told to serve expired goods (I refused to do so), employees were expected to work after being physically ill.
"I was sexually harassed by a manager who was given a very light slap on the wrist and then allowed to be my closing manager for a whole summer." I saw many male coworkers get away with sexual misconduct, assault, and other abusive behaviors while the women within the company are held to a completely different standard. Myself and others were spoken to in verbally abusive ways by their kitchen manager.
"I waited a month after sending an email to the owner and only received a reply from the them after I reaching out a second time and it was nothing but excuses, and no actual acknowledgment of any of my allegations, or even an apology."
I am not calling for a boycott, I am simply communicating with my community about a business's practices. A business many of us have brought our children to, a place we've spent our hard-earned money at. A place where we've met friends and significant others. It is high time that we demand better behavior from the businesses within our city.
Ferndale is a place where we should all be safe, men, women, children, LGBTQ+, POC. Everyone. I gave the owner a month to give me a response. I have been more than fair in private. I was only met with excuses and no real change was offered.
