The Emperor Hotel (Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A sleek tower on a tree-lined boulevard in Wan Chai, the Emperor Hotel offers visitors to the north of Hong Kong Island an impeccably stylish introduction to this vibrant city. Aesthetically it’s a collaboration between the Turkish design firm Autoban and the French botanist Patrick Blanc; the style in the rooms and suites is a sophisticated one, mixing industrial edge with organic warmth, and studiously avoiding design-hotel clichés. The public spaces are more traditional, but no less eye-catching — Golden Valley serves upscale Cantonese and Szechuan fare, and is joined by the more casual Monkey Café and an opulent rooftop bar, Crown." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at The Emperor Hotel in Hong Kong recently for 4 nights and could not recommend it enough. The staff were all extremely helpful and check-in took no time at all. The rooms are a decent size and the beds were very comfy. 24 hour gym is small, but has everything you need for a quick workout and came in very handy! Very conveniently located next to Happy Valley, and a short walk to the tram stops, too. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here, especially considering it is a ‘budget-friendly’ hotel and what we ended up with!

Hotel is in a great location with bus stops just in front. Room is very clean, though a bit small. Self laundry room has 4 washers and dryers which are very efficient. Buy tokens from the front desk, 30 HKD to wash and another 30 to dry. Service is great. Our cleaning lady Chun greeted us with a big smile everyday and cleaned room meticulously. Front desk is also very helpful. Oscar helped us to store luggage and offered to take them to the parking, which is very nice. Breakfast buffet is good though with limited varieties. All in all, a very good stay!

The hotel is not located right in the city center of Hong Kong, but rather on the outskirts. However, the city can easily be reached by bus or on foot. It is a high-rise building with about 10 rooms per floor, so around 150–200 rooms in total. The hotel appears modern and chic. This is also reflected in the rooms, although on closer inspection you can see that the hotel is already a few years old.||The room was rather small, i.e. there was only about half a meter of space on either side of the king-size bed. Otherwise, everything was clean and everything in the room worked, but as mentioned before, not perfectly maintained. This was also evident, for example, in the gym. It is rather small, and here too some of the equipment did not work, and there was also a lack of towels as well as disinfectant and cleaning supplies.||The same goes for breakfast: although it looked fresh and appetizing, for a hotel of this size I missed the variety and selection one would expect. That said, I don’t want to say that there wasn’t enough or that things weren’t replenished.||A plus, however, was the friendliness of the staff. Overall, the hotel is fine for 1–2 overnight stays if you can get a good price.

We are currently staying at The Emperor Hotel in Hong Kong with a group of 32 people for four nights, and unfortunately, our experience is overwhelmingly negative.||||Despite notifying the hotel well in advance of our group’s size and arrival time, there was absolutely no assistance upon check-in. No help with luggage, no greeting, and no sense of hospitality. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we were a burden. The reception staff acted indifferent and cold. When one of us mentioned that the service was unacceptable, the young man at the front desk replied sarcastically, “Yes, I know.” Completely unprofessional and disrespectful.||||Expect to wait 15–30 minutes just to get a table for breakfast — even though this is a basic inclusion. The staff in the breakfast area were equally unfriendly and unapproachable, offering no greetings, no smiles, and certainly no help. For a hotel of this supposed standard, this is simply unacceptable.||||There are no bellboys, no concierge service, and not even a basic amenity like a microwave or facility to warm up food (something many travelers expect), especially in international hotels. The overall service quality was far below what one would reasonably expect from a 4-star property.||||We discussed this within our entire group of 32 guests and every single person shared the same disappointment. None of us felt welcome. The attitude of the staff and the lack of basic hospitality were consistent across the board.||||If you enjoy being ignored, waiting in long lines for breakfast, and being treated like an inconvenience, this is the hotel for you. Otherwise, we strongly advise looking elsewhere. Hong Kong has many wonderful accommodations. This, unfortunately, is not one of them.

Great place to stay when visiting Hong Kong. We had our room cleaned every day, which was nice. We also appreciated that the reception staff took into consideration that we wanted a room at a top floor, with nice views. Their rooftop bar is also worth checking out. Location is also spot on, close to everything. All in all, a really good experience.

I’m not going to make this review overly lengthy, so I’ll split it into two parts: the staff and the room.||The staff were amazing—extremely helpful and polite. All I can say is a big thank you to everyone at The Emperor Hotel for their hospitality during our stay. Absolutely lovely people.||The room: Due to Hong Kong’s dense population and other contributing factors, space is a luxury. Across much of Asia, there are many ingenious ways to create and save space—but unfortunately, this was not the case at The Emperor Hotel. There was absolutely no storage for anything, and we had to quite literally live out of our suitcase.||While this isn’t the end of the world, I’ve included photos showing simple measures that could easily be implemented to improve storage—for example, adding a bedside drawer or a USB port on BOTH sides. Additionally, having a universal power outlet would be very useful for international guests, but sadly, the room had none of these features.||As mentioned, I don’t want this review to be overly long, so I’ll let the photos highlight where improvements could be made.

To be honest the room is fine and silent. But the reception staff is not helpful at all, would even call it rude way of communication. Wanted to extend my booking. They told me to extend it via Agoda for the better rate (usually hotels can give guests the same price as they see online. Also better for the hotel so they don't have to pay third parties). Anyway booked it through Agoda but then they did not receive the confirmation yet. Had to wait another 30 min. Takes a lot of time which we could have spent exploring the city. Not the best hospitality experience here.

The hotel is not bad, we had a comfortable stay. The carpet smells a little and there were 2 air purifier in the room. Bed very comfortable and they had the best toothbrushes. Breakfast was decent ( western). The free shuttle bus is convenient. The view was very nice seeing the mountains. You must walk though to an uphill and stairs to the nearest bus and MTR. I would come back.

Yelp
During the pandemic situation, we decided we wanted to take advantage of a less busy Hong Kong and be tourists in the city that we work in. We were able to split the rooms between the four of us, but unfortunately, our first room had the smell of someone smoking like a cigarette indoors when we turned on the air conditioning. We were able to be moved for free thankfully, and our staff member helping us was so accommodating. It was just nice being able to stay on the Island overnight during the days we were on the Island. Trying to catch a bus all the way back to New Territories at night is a Herculean task. It is a drag if you can't truly enjoy nightlife on the Island.

Yelp
So I stayed here my last two nights in Hong Kong . I had a deluxe / superior room and paid about $68 a night booking in advance with Agoda . The room was super cute ...quaint with a view of the skyline that made falling asleep extra dreamy . As for the location itself it's about 8 minute drive / Uber to central which is where a lot of amazing bars and museums are . It's also walking distance from the happy valley race track where there are Wednesday nights races that are officiated in English ! Service is what you expect from Hong Kong ( varied ) but overall a good stay . The doorman and bellhop were happy to lend me a hand with my bags which seems basic but what the Hyatt centric failed to do upon my check out where my room was 4x the price per night . As a bonus On my last day checking out I found out that there was is an actual Michelin star restaurant in the hotel located on the first floor called golden valley . After not being able to secure food from Mott 32 ( see my other review ) I was still determined to get a pork dish to take with me to the airport to accompany my fried rice and dumplings and the food did not disappoint! Overall great value for Hong Kong.

Yelp
TL;DR: My flight was delayed and the Hotel refused to allow me to check in a day late or work with me in any way. There was an issue with my flight when traveling from Shanghai to Hong Kong and I realized I would arrive a day later than the time my reservation was for. I contacted the hotel to let them know and to confirm my reservation would be held. They replied telling me that they can't talk to me, that all communication has to go through Hotels.com, the site I booked the Hotel on. Uh, ok. So I contact Hotels.com and they get back to me and tell me that the Emperor Hotel refused to honor the reservation, or give me a refund! So basically because of a flight delay they're going to take my $740 and throw me out on the street without any place to stay in a foreign city. I contacted the hotel again to verify, but they again refused any communication! I say again: the hotel flat-out refused to speak to a paying customer over the phone, or answer any questions by email, even when it was, to me, an emergency situation. Thankfully, I was able to get a last-minute reservation at a much better hotel at a comparable price, but I am still very upset that the Emperor Hotel essentially stole $740 from me. There is a special place in hell for people like that. In all my years of travelling I have never encountered a hospitality business that is run this way. STAY AWAY from this dump at all costs. It is clear that their business model is not based upon customer satisfaction, but on fleecing your for every penny they can get. I wouldn't feel safe in their properties and would be very concerned about leaving valuables unattended in the room. These people are crooks and scam artists and should not be in any business, anywhere in the world. I should add that when I saw the hotel for myself I realized it is quite dirty and is located in a remote, industrial part of town. You can do much, much better for a similar price in HK.
