The Emperor Hotel (Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A sleek tower on a tree-lined boulevard in Wan Chai, the Emperor Hotel offers visitors to the north of Hong Kong Island an impeccably stylish introduction to this vibrant city. Aesthetically it’s a collaboration between the Turkish design firm Autoban and the French botanist Patrick Blanc; the style in the rooms and suites is a sophisticated one, mixing industrial edge with organic warmth, and studiously avoiding design-hotel clichés. The public spaces are more traditional, but no less eye-catching — Golden Valley serves upscale Cantonese and Szechuan fare, and is joined by the more casual Monkey Café and an opulent rooftop bar, Crown." - Tablet Hotels

Tremendous effort by front desk (hey, Oliver!) in helping me get settled in flawlessly and a bit early. Exceptional views from the high floor the city. Had a great rate. Centered in Wan Chai off the water, but easily walking distance to so much. It was sweltering outside so walking may not be for everyone. Room was stylish, modern and bed was divine.

I had a wonderful stay at your hotel. The service was exceptional, and the staff were always friendly and attentive. I would especially like to commend the manager, Oscar, for his professionalism and warm hospitality. He went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was perfect. I truly appreciate his efforts and look forward to visiting again.

For my long weekend in Hong Kong I stayed at The Empire Hotel. It was a very good experience. The rooms provided comfort while the hotel's location made exploring the city of HK convenient. Exceptional service from Oscar and Francis truly made my stay even better, they graciously accommodated my request for a late checkout. Overall, The Empire Hotel combines great amenities, good location, and outstanding customer service, making it an excellent choice for anyone visiting Hong Kong! Highly recommended!

Staying at The Emperor Hotel was an interesting experience, a bit of a throwback to classic Hong Kong. It had a certain old-world charm, a kind of established feel that you don't find in newer, more modern hotels. The location, in particular, was a real plus. It was tucked away in a busy area, so everything was quite convenient. Getting around was easy, and there were plenty of local restaurants and shops nearby, giving me a real taste of the neighborhood. The room was comfortable enough, not overly large, but it had everything I needed. It felt a bit dated, but it was clean and well-maintained.The staff were polite and helpful, and they were always ready to answer any questions I had. There was a sense of efficiency about the place, like they'd been doing this for a long time and knew exactly what they were doing. If you're looking for a hotel with character and a convenient location, The Emperor Hotel is a solid choice. It's not flashy, but it's reliable and comfortable. It felt like a little piece of classic Hong Kong, and I appreciated that. It was a good, no-fuss place to stay, and it served its purpose well.

The location of the hotel is not very convenient, need to walk around 5 minutes to tram station. Have shuttle bus provided, but if at night time , only taxi can be taken. But the view of the Room is amazing, can see the hill and beautiful modern architecture of Central.

I placed a do not disturb sign at my door, however whenever i am leaving the house, the staff kept asking me to allow her to clean or a quick one as they have quota to hit for the number of rooms she needs to leave. I already told her nicely no, we do not need however she insisted. Wish the hotel can communicate to the staff working there to understand ‘do not disturb’ sign and should not bother the guests staying then to insist to allow a quick clean etc etc

The location was okay, just that the hotel was located on a slope. It was easier to travel around after we have gotten familiar with the bus route as there was a bus stop nearer to the hotel (metro was further away). The room was clean and comfortable in size for a room in Hong Kong

Excellent hotel. Fully deserves its 4* and perhaps something more. I was staying in a “luxury” room, which was spacious and equipped with a king-sized bed. A delicious breakfast is served in the cafe’ on the ground floor. The staff at the receprion was very friendly.  The only drawback is the distance from the Wan Chai MTR station. Highly recommend.

Yelp
During the pandemic situation, we decided we wanted to take advantage of a less busy Hong Kong and be tourists in the city that we work in. We were able to split the rooms between the four of us, but unfortunately, our first room had the smell of someone smoking like a cigarette indoors when we turned on the air conditioning. We were able to be moved for free thankfully, and our staff member helping us was so accommodating. It was just nice being able to stay on the Island overnight during the days we were on the Island. Trying to catch a bus all the way back to New Territories at night is a Herculean task. It is a drag if you can't truly enjoy nightlife on the Island.

Yelp
So I stayed here my last two nights in Hong Kong . I had a deluxe / superior room and paid about $68 a night booking in advance with Agoda . The room was super cute ...quaint with a view of the skyline that made falling asleep extra dreamy . As for the location itself it's about 8 minute drive / Uber to central which is where a lot of amazing bars and museums are . It's also walking distance from the happy valley race track where there are Wednesday nights races that are officiated in English ! Service is what you expect from Hong Kong ( varied ) but overall a good stay . The doorman and bellhop were happy to lend me a hand with my bags which seems basic but what the Hyatt centric failed to do upon my check out where my room was 4x the price per night . As a bonus On my last day checking out I found out that there was is an actual Michelin star restaurant in the hotel located on the first floor called golden valley . After not being able to secure food from Mott 32 ( see my other review ) I was still determined to get a pork dish to take with me to the airport to accompany my fried rice and dumplings and the food did not disappoint! Overall great value for Hong Kong.

Yelp
TL;DR: My flight was delayed and the Hotel refused to allow me to check in a day late or work with me in any way. There was an issue with my flight when traveling from Shanghai to Hong Kong and I realized I would arrive a day later than the time my reservation was for. I contacted the hotel to let them know and to confirm my reservation would be held. They replied telling me that they can't talk to me, that all communication has to go through Hotels.com, the site I booked the Hotel on. Uh, ok. So I contact Hotels.com and they get back to me and tell me that the Emperor Hotel refused to honor the reservation, or give me a refund! So basically because of a flight delay they're going to take my $740 and throw me out on the street without any place to stay in a foreign city. I contacted the hotel again to verify, but they again refused any communication! I say again: the hotel flat-out refused to speak to a paying customer over the phone, or answer any questions by email, even when it was, to me, an emergency situation. Thankfully, I was able to get a last-minute reservation at a much better hotel at a comparable price, but I am still very upset that the Emperor Hotel essentially stole $740 from me. There is a special place in hell for people like that. In all my years of travelling I have never encountered a hospitality business that is run this way. STAY AWAY from this dump at all costs. It is clear that their business model is not based upon customer satisfaction, but on fleecing your for every penny they can get. I wouldn't feel safe in their properties and would be very concerned about leaving valuables unattended in the room. These people are crooks and scam artists and should not be in any business, anywhere in the world. I should add that when I saw the hotel for myself I realized it is quite dirty and is located in a remote, industrial part of town. You can do much, much better for a similar price in HK.
