"Offering thousands of pieces of mid-century glassware—from Murano glass vases from Italy, to Brutalist bowls from Germany, to decanters from, well, all over—this small space makes the volume it carries that much more impressive, and you’ll leave thinking maybe living in a glass house isn’t that bad after all." - Elise Taylor

"Lit up like a rainbow, The End of History is one of the more unique stores in the city—if not the United States. Here, you'll find really, really beautiful cased glass that's highly collectible (with prices to match). It all looks so stunning as a grouping, you'll want to take at least three pieces home. They also deal in really beautiful and rare pottery making the store an inspiration point for many home designers."

What a great staff. I went in to look for a very specific type of glass that I collect and when the worker asked me what I was looking for I told him. He knew exactly what I was talking about and apologized that they didn’t carry it but he knew of an antique mall that might have some. Oddly enough I had just been to that same antique mall the weekend before and they did have the type of glass I was looking for. That man knows his glass! An all around pleasant experience and the store is beautiful!

Came to the store from Brooklyn and arrived at 5p on the dot. When I rang the bell to enter, the retail associate barely looked at me and shook his head. I was confused / wasn't sure what that was, so I stood there for a second and he opened the door to tell me he is closed. I asked if he closes at 530p as that's what it says online & on the door and he got sassy telling me he is with a client who asked for a private appointment (?) and then proceeded to ask "are you going to buy anything" - Well, I don't know as you literally won't let me inside. Rude rude rude and seemingly ONLY colorful glass vases. Not worth it!! Don't go out of way

The End of History contains some of the most beautiful mid-century vases and lamps and objects that I have ever seen assembled in one space. Michael could not have been more helpful as we selected four decorative pieces to put in an empty fireplace in our living room. I love this store, and I will visit again soon!

Take the opportunity to seek past the window of stunning glass wear and step back in time to an era of pure indulgence. What an incredible shop. From the way the shop was curated with colour drenching to the actual pieces. You'll be visually stimulated on another level. Although predominantly glass The feeling you have when walking through is not fragile or pretentious. It's elevating (combined with the music This is a masterclass on how to create an experience) I fell in love with a pair of Parisian lamps. If only I wasn't UK bound. They would have been leaving the shop today for sure and extremely well priced considering the history and materials used (and being in NYC) So that being said. If you want 'unique' and to make a statement in your home/office/studio. This is the place to visit. The owner was so lovely. His passion for the collection and warm welcoming presence. Made it a very special experience indeed. Many many Thanks

Just scored a stunning glass jewelry box from France here while strolling in the neighborhood. The selection is so incredible, there are so many beautiful pieces. Tempted to visit every weekend, but that would be dangerous for my bank account. Whenever I’m looking for a unique piece for my home or a gift, I’ll definitely be back.

We loved this store from when we lived in the West Village, some 20y ago, until today, living in the UK, and only able to visit on holiday. Such a fantastic selection of American glasswork by the owners, who are obviously passionate about what they do. Hope to come back again and again.

I will NEVER be able to afford anything in this vintage glass store but it is wonderful just standing among all of the beautiful, colorful pieces here.

Yelp
I just bought a beautiful glass vase for my mom for her birthday. This is a really interesting shop with a wonderful, friendly and informative staff. Mom loves her vase and I was happy to have been told about this special shop.

Yelp
If you have the slightest proclivity toward mid-century modern glass, get thee to The End of History. The proprietor, collector and keeper of the store, Stephen Saunders, has amassed a mid-century modern glass collection worthy of a museum. And, during these recessionary times, this vintage boutique is turning its inventory quite nicely, thank you very much. Rebecca's 5 Point Rating Scale (1-not-so-great and 5-fabulous): Store Size / Inventory - 5 (OMG) Merchandise Quality - 5 (incredibly unusual and beautiful pieces) Organization - 5 (very organized by color, thank you very much) Pricing - 3 (museum pricing for museum pieces, but still achievable for the common man) Service - 5 (Stephen is knowledgeable, helpful, ships fast, and remembers me year after year) Total Rating is 4.6 (5 stars) Saunders doesn't need to advertise, because pieces from his store are frequently mentioned in decorating books, online articles and in print. His collection easily includes thousands of pieces, and he has more in storage and out on loan for magazine shoots. The store is somewhat dazzling. It takes a minute to focus at the front door, assaulted (in a good way) by lime green, Halloween orange, sky blue and lemon yellow. Give it a moment and don't swoon. With careful searching and the advice of Saunders, you can find something unique for your home, office or friend. Yelp
I acquired two magnificent pieces at this shop--one Italian glass, one Swedish ceramic -- and am absolutely thrilled with the intelligence and professionalism with which they were shipped to me in France. How wonderful not just to have found objects of rare beauty, but to have had them packed perfectly, everything done as one would hope. Bravo! Nicholas Fox Weber Paris

Yelp
I was walking by this store today with a friend, and we couldn't resist going inside when we saw some of the many beautiful glass objects. It's a rather small store, but it's filled with a profusion of (admittedly pricey) items. The collection is beautiful and extensive enough to comprise a small museum, and there were many temptations. The owner was *very* pleasant and he also had a good sense of humor.

Yelp
What an amazing store. So many beautiful items!! I went in looking for a glass objet for a gift and had a budget in mind but I wasn't sure what I could find. My price point of $200 was a little low for this store - most of their items are much more expensive than what I was looking for on this day - but the two people working there (owner?) set out to help me find something. They showed me several things but they knew I wasn't really excited by anything (nice items, just not right for the recipient) Finally there was this really cool vintage Murano bowl with funky cut outs -- but it was marked $275. They discussed between themselves that they could sell it to me for my price (!) so perhaps deals can be made from time to time. Personally, I'm not used to fluid pricing in NYC stores... so I was really not expecting that. But I do love that there are still boutiques with unique items in this city, which is becoming more and more like a giant mall. :( I think it's really important to patronize stores like this if we don't want our city to turn into a strip mall of Targets, 7-11s and West Elms. Those stores have a place (except 7-11s, WTF?!) but if we're not careful soon that could be all we have. Anyway, this incredible store was a key part of a lovely, successful afternoon in the west village, and I will definitely go back for more.
