Where to Get the Best Brunch in Puerto Rico | Condé Nast Traveler

"At The English Rose, you're in for a lavish morning meal with a side of ocean and mountain views; this inn and breakfast destination has a hilltop perspective that even a bird would envy. Start with a breakfast basket, loaded with cranberry scones, buttermilk biscuits, butter, and jam. Giant-size mains range from roast turkey hash with yam, pancetta, maple syrup, hot sauce, two eggs, and greens, to a full English breakfast: two eggs any style, bacon, house-made pork sausage, overnight tomatoes, skillet potatoes, and homemade toast. This is what mornings are made for: perspective and a plentiful repast." - Kathleen Squires

Extremely attentive and friendly service. Great food, great drinks. Beautiful rooms. The pool is even nicer than the pics online. One of the best stays in my life. Make your you feed the cats, they fall in love easily. I loved the all the natural wildlife noise at night, slept great. Rincon is a lovely town with plently of good places to eat and lovely shops.

Google
Had a wonderful time here with my partner, service staff were super friendly. Beautiful views of Rincón, close to all the beaches and downtown but far enough for quiet nights. The restaurant is amazing, became obsessed with their ginger-lavender lemonade OMG I could drink a gallon of that every day! Highly recommend the poolside rooms, we stayed at La Rosa with the indoor hammock.

Google
After working a wedding on the west side of the island, this was the perfect place to relax and soak in the gorgeous views. The service was excellent. There were no outdoor tables available at first, even though that was my preference, but the hostess noticed and promptly moved us as soon as one became free. Amazing dishes and drinks. Can't wait to return soon!

We have been coming here for about 4 years now and we enjoy it every time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfast is perfect drinks are on point! Vide is amazing and the distance to the beach is great. Come here enjoy the island and have some amazing views and pictures to post on social media

Google
Everything. The hotel was beautiful, the view is amazing, the staff is great. 10/10 would highly recommend staying here and personally cannot wait to book again and go back! This was our first time visiting Rincon and we loved that we were away from the main part of town, but still a very close drive away. I would highly recommend renting a small SUV, the road to The English Rose is quite hilly and steep, but well worth the adventure to experience the hotel.

Google
My wife and I went here for an anniversary brunch. I made reservations, which they did not have a record of. No worries, we got right in with a seat outside with wonderful views. The food was great. I had turkey hash, which was very good. The drive there may be a bit much for someone not used to driving steep winding narrow roads. Highly recommended.

Google
Stunning view and surroundings. Drinks were good. They did mess up my Cobb salad and it took forever to get a new one (all others in my party had finished eating by the time it arrived). It might be a nice place to stay overnight; pool looked lovely and cleaning staff were on-site constantly. Food and drink prices were high though.

Google
NOT overrated. The service, food, and views were all on point. Our waitress thankfully recommended the turkey hash. I would not normally order this but I am so happy she did. This was one of the best dishes I have eaten in a long time. Savory and slightly sweet, all of the flavors complimented each other. Views, service, food, coffee cocktails 5 stars for days.

Yelp
The best breakfast on the island! Really amazing hotel accommodations, too Highly recommend if you're staying in Rincon

Yelp
What a great way to spend the day. This place is nestled away in the treetops and worth the little drive up. We took advantage of the pool area by asking for food service there. There's a 35.00 charge pp, but the 35.00 goes toward food and drinks. We brought our own towels and ate and drank with an incredible view. Definitely one of my favorite spots during our trip ! The food was just as delicious as the view! A must do when on the west side. This place is also connected to their hotel. I didn't get to see the rooms thoroughly but they looked nice from what I could see outside.

Yelp
This is my second time coming to the English rose. Came last year on our trip and had to come back again. Their service and food is just as amazing as I remembered it. We tried their Matcha with the lavender syrup, made it sweet if that's how you like it. We also tried their fresh passionfruit juice, super sour just as I like it. We also tried their passionfruit mint tea, which was a refreshing and delicious drink on a hot day. My favorite drink by far. For breakfast, we had the turkey hash which we found very delicious and unique. It is made with maple syrup and sweet potatoes, which is such a nice combination. The view is definitely breathtaking. We were also able to spot a few iguanas from the patio. Everyone there was so sweet and welcoming. The drive is up hill and narrow but absolutely worth it ... did it again this year. Just drive slow! Love this place

Yelp
We absolutely love this spot. It's become a regular visit for brunch any time we're in Rincón. Make sure you make reservations tho!! Even weeks out you might have a tough time getting outdoor seating. Either way, it's definitely worth the effort. Food and drinks are fresh and flavorful. The views are amazing. Servers are friendly and helpful. They have great merch available too. Some mention the roads and how steep and "treacherous" they are but that's just par for the course on this side of the island. It's nothing to really worry about. Parking can be a pain but they have someone there assisting. My only other gripe is prices are a bit high but still not too expensive to keep me from returning. Check it out!

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch... drawn in by the incredible view... and had the most delicious lunch! We shared Seared Ahi Tuna over Mediterranean salad and the Turkey Crossandwich. It's also a boutique hotel, which looks to be very well appointed- and has a stunning infinity pool. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great view, the restaurant was poppin The room was really nice and the decor was cute. They had some nice cats that would hang around. Only thing is it's tuff to get up to, the hills are really steep.

Yelp
Great food, amazing view, friendly staff! Always a must visit when I'm in Rincon. What more could you ask for?

Yelp
The English Rose is a beautiful restaurant with amazing views, great food and service. We will be back!

Liz S.

Yelp
We had a very hard time finding good food in Rincon and this place was no exception. We sent back my son's avacodo toast which was just a mess covered in balsamic vinegar. My egg breakfast was just okay. Everything is served in plastic - cups, plates, coffee mugs, all plastic. Very overpriced. Nice view though.

Yelp
We loved our meal here! First of all, the drive up is wild. They're not kidding "keep calm and drive up" but it is we totally worth it. The views are better even in person. The food was super tasty and drinks amazing. Service was so friendly and attentive. We would definitely reccomend anyone catch a meal here.
google avatar

Yelp
We really enjoyed this place and we went quite a few times during our stay in Rincon. Definitely need reservations before you head up the hill and there is an easier way and a harder way to get up to the top of the hill, but it's so worth it when you get there beautiful and serene and everything on the menu is very good. We especially love the nachos. We got them the next day for breakfast as well. Very friendly owner and staff. If I lived there I'd be a regular.. I highly recommend. Cocktails great, breakfast amazing, lunch great, my son loved it, my fiance loved the view and the ambience. 5 stars

Yelp
Love love love! Amazing views, beautiful ambiance, delicious food! What more can I ask for? Oh! Yummy mimosa flight! A bit of a trek getting to this hilltop gem but sooooo worth it. Even walked out with great Tshirts, caps and hot sauce! When in Rincon you MUST treat yourself to their delicious brunch. Buen Provecho!

Yelp
Our experience was consistent with most other reviews... delicious food and incredible views. We were fortunate enough to be seated on the balcony overlooking the pool, forest and sea. Avocado toast, overnight tomatoes, breakfast burrito and the Dead Elvis French toast. Highly recommended. Including the challenging drive to get there.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous view and amazing food. I followed the recommendations and reviews I read and was not disappointed. You have to go try this place out. I will definitely be back and hopefully get to stay at their inn.

Yelp
If you're not scared of step drives this place is a good place to check out. The ambiance was very beach vibes and very modern. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. Our food was very good but my potatoes were extremely salty. The bread on the Benedict was a little tough but manageable. Overall it's a 8 out of 10 on the east of PR.
google avatar

Yelp
The view here is incredible & the servers were really nice but the food is average! It's a great spot to have brunch with friends & enjoy the morning rincon vibes :)

Yelp
Go! Stunning views, everything is delicious and fresh. We went on a weekday mid day and had no issue parking.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast spot in Rincon! The breakfast burrito was amazing, as was the french toast. Our cocktails were great too! They say online that reservations are required but they definitely were taking walk ins the morning. It was by far the busiest restaurant we've been to in Rincon, and I'm certain we got a great patio table because of our reservation but you could certainly risk it by walking in. It was a Sunday morning in the off season when we went and they were running about a 30 minute wait.
google avatar

Yelp
Great brunch spot! Tough drive up - but worth it. They had amazing fresh juices. I ordered the passion fruit mint tea. Delicious! Wanted a coffee, sadly they don't serve decaf. Had a sip of my boyfriends coffee and it was good. We ordered a breakfast burrito and an omelet. Both were good. Views were phenomenal. We lucked out with an awesome table outside. They take reservations - definitely call ahead of time. Will definitely return back.

Yelp
Great location, horrible service!!. We came across this place because of a friend that recommended it. The food looked nice, but unfortunately didnt get to try it as it took them 1hr 30min to serve us. While I understand we came during high season, the staff did not contribute to fix the issue, instead we watched tables around us order, eat and pay their tab before we had even received our order. Would not return!

Yelp
Got there on a holiday around 11:45 and got seats right away. Staff was nice and polite. Food was delicious. I got the smoked salmon toast and my husband got the croissant turkey sandwich, which he said was the best thing he's had in PR so far :) Passion fruit juice was fresh and the Metallica beer bucket was good value! And the view... so beautiful.

Yelp
Cool view, good food, and attentive service since we were one of the 2 couples there! It was a pleasant experience until the end. We just arrived to Puerto Rico/Rincon for our honeymoon so we're still getting used to being out here. Not really understanding the regular norms since we didn't have time to fully plan for our trip too much due to wedding planning the last 2 weeks straight. We ordered the Philly sandwich, greek wrap, and shrimp ceviche. We also ordered the salsa and chips but said nvm let's just do the shrimp ceviche only but both ended up coming out. It was fine though, more chips the better and we didn't mind since the salsa tasted really good. Getting the bill, it was with the hand held key pad. I asked "what is the reduced state tax" to the server and he said he didn't know. Not to worry though, we didn't mind that he didn't know. We were just asking since there was a state tax and reduced state tax line.. so I was genuinely just curious. Paid and then got a weird vibe when we left the restaurant. When we got to our car and looked for directions to Domes beach, I see the bartender staff coming out to the front, pointing her phone camera straight towards us in our car, and then walking away. I asked my husband, "did she just take a photo of us or of our car?" Everything was great until then. I left with such a shitty vibe from The English Rose bcus of that. I'd recommend for the food and view but might be a hit or miss with the experience.

Yelp
This spot is gorgeous! Beautiful restaurant with incredible views to match. Walked in on a Friday morning, no reservation. Plenty of seating available. Started off with the Passionfruit Mint Tea. UGH, I need more already! So yummy! I ordered a breakfast burrito & a side of their house made sausage. I saw the sausage was a popular item, and had to give it a try. I was embarrassed when they brought it out and announced "Sausage burrito with a side of sausage". Unfortunately I wasn't very thorough reading the menu because they use the same sausage in the burrito. It's just a good quality egg, cheese, and sausage burrito. Wish I'd ordered the veggie burrito for more variety. My husband enjoyed his burger. The bun looked incredible. I couldn't help but steal some of his truffle fries, because those are usually my go-to, and these were fantastic. The waitress wasn't the most attentive, but the food and view were just too good.

Yelp
We visited the English Rose for breakfast on the first day of our visit to the island. We had a reservation-thank goodness because they won't let you park in the lot if you don't, so definitely make a reservation ahead of time if you want to visit. The restaurant is located on top of a very steep, very narrow road-ed hill and is a bit treacherous to get to, but once you're there the view makes you forget about the drive. While I was glad the see there was a vegan option on the menu there was only one listed. After talking with the waitress I learned the avocado toast was vegan as well and ordered it along with an iced oat milk latte. The coffee was average, as was the toast. The toast itself was cold and very hard, it was also only a half slice of bread, which disappointed me. The mushroom toast which one of my friends got was a whole piece so I'm not sure why the avocado was only half. The avocado itself was good, but without any salt, pepper or acid it was a bit bland, especially on the cold toast. The prices at this restaurant are also quite high considering the quality of food. I don't recommend going for the food, but the view is nice.

Yelp
We decided to come back for another stay in Rincon after two years because we love it here so much. Rather than staying in an AIRBNB, we chose this spot as we'd heard terrific things. It was certainly more pricey than an AIRBNB, but it was comfortable and provided an unbeatable view. We stayed in the Tres Palmas room for three days and enjoyed our stay very much. My only qualm, surprisingly, was with the breakfast, which they are known for. On my birthday I treated myself to a room service breakfast of avocado toast. I was served half a piece of bread with a few scattered lettuce leaves. For about $15. I really thought it was a joke or a mistake, but it wasn't lol. Nevertheless, I'd recommend staying here and maybe driving into town for breakfast elsewhere. The pool, the balcony, and the room were great. Definitely be aware that it's located at the top of some extremely steep and narrow roads.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast that included eggs Benedict, French toast, and more! Every dish for our 12 person party was perfect! The drinks added to our pleasure. The icing on top was the view! Truly a magical place to dine!

Yelp
This place is run by amazing staff who know how to manage a busy place while creating an excellent dining experience. The food is great. We came for breakfast row days in a row (may go again tmw!) and had the Rancheros 10/10, coconut shrimp 10/10 literally the best we've ever had, greek salad 10/10 dressing is perfect, and the big V breakfast 10/10 (hearty vegetarian option). Also bought a couple of artisan items (stained glass and an ornament) Prices make sense too. Well done!

Yelp
Amazing service amazing food amazing view. We came here for a week it's a hidden gem in the mountains staff is great! Such a great place that we decided to book another week for our anniversary before we l

Yelp
First place we ate at while staying in Rincon. If you aren't afraid of driving on steep hills, it's well worth it. Beautiful, scenic ocean views from an elevated perch. Diverse breakfast offerings. I had the surf and turf omelet... well priced, delicious and huge portion. A must stop for those visiting Rincon.

Joy C.

Yelp
while staying in a Rincon Airbnb we had suggestions to visit this place . It did not disappoint . The drive was an adventure in itself . then the breakfast and view were amazing
google avatar

Emma R.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong, do I go here - absolutely! Do I bring friends when they visit? For sure. Do I love the food/service - it's good, not great. Do I love the view and feel like it's kind of a Rincon staple, yes. That pretty much sums it up! Great views, on top of a mountain, overlooking trees for miles and the ocean. The menu is huge so there is always something for everyone. I've gotten both of the breakfast burritos and the turkey hash most recently and as odd as the turkey hash sounds it might be my favorite thing on the menu! Balsamic, maple syrup and hot sauce in one dish - I was hesitant too but it's really good. Their coffee, not so good in my opinion. If you have a big group or are going at the busy times I'd give them a call for sure to see if you can get a reservation first (on the patio for views if you can). They get busy! Overall, will I be back, yes. There aren't a ton of true breakfast spots in Rincon so it will have to stay a staple.

Mike W.

Yelp
A definite must visit. Great service, great cocktails, great food and awesome views. The turkey hash is fantabulous.

Mikemoon O.

Yelp
Brutal drive just to get there. Started with 2 lukewarm coffees, undrinkable. Small bowl of unripe fresh fruit($14)served with nothing extra, (honey, toast nothing. Ate half. Green eggs Benedict, very plain taste. And now the downhill rollarcoaster road to the beach. Very overrated-

Yelp
Awesome spot. Was there between Christmas & New Year; We met a couple on the beach that suggested it. Awesome location, Great food, great service. It's also a hotel/ b&b. I bought an English Rose sticker at their gift shop. You go up these wild hills to get there; It's kind of funny, but then you get there and it's great.
google avatar

Valeri S.

Yelp
The view is breath taking. What an amazing place to visit up on the mountain. The egg benedits were made very well. I enjoyed the Bloody Mary. It was a meal in itself. The staff were extremely friend. Our friend Cesar made our day.
google avatar

Adele R.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Does not disappoint at all. Make a reservation. Grab a table and trust me, you won't regret it. The view is amazing and the food was superb. So filled with flavor and the energy of the workers there just made everything perfect. I definitely cannot wait to visit again!
google avatar

Tania V.

Yelp
Food was very good. Their home made teas are very tasty especially the Passion Mint Tea. There's free refills on coffee which is AMAZING!! Oh and the view is beautiful. I'd go back for sure.
google avatar

Erica A.

Yelp
Where to begin? This is a hidden gem. This is the best breakfast meal our group of 8 has had. The staff is very friendly and service is quick. Each and every food item is amazing. The views are magnificent. The drinks are so good! Great dining experience. Will return!
google avatar

Yelp
Stunning views, amazing service and outstanding food. What more needs to be said. Will definitely be back! ‍

Yelp
Very good food and incredible view off the balcony. We ordered a bunch of different things and they were all good !
google avatar

Brad B.

Yelp
Location was gorgeous (views spectacular), service was warm and friendly (really wonderful treatment of our baby girl), food was very tasty and portions were more than we could even eat. Worth the twisted narrow road to get there. Plan ahead, while the wait is worth it it's better to have a reservation!
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Wow. Great views better staff and food. Can't wait to come back. Road to the restaurant is a wild ride . Glad it is a rental.
google avatar

César C.

Yelp
I've tried to visit this place on five different occasions, and failed on four of those occasions . This place is hard to reach, theres very little parking and the operating hours are very limited. All that being said, this place is definitely worth it! The views are amazing, the food was delicious and everything tasted super fresh. The staff were super friendly and the service was really fast. I highly recommend making reservations, preferably early in the morning (9am-ish).
google avatar

Kate A.

Yelp
The worst service I had in Puerto Rico. It took an hour to get our food, and we barely ordered anything. Example: it took 45 minutes for my Greek yogurt to come to the table. The food is NOT special, is just American food with a really pretty view.
google avatar

Kali L.

Yelp
Hard to get to but once there you're glad you made it. The food, drinks and views are all good. The bathroom could be bigger. The service is coming around. Glad they finally got rid of that crazy drunk waitress manager. She ran a lot of people away. I was afraid to come back but heard she wasn't there anymore. One bad apple ruins the batch. It will take a bit to get it back to good.

Steven A.

Yelp
Really pretty location for breakfast perfect way to start the day. The waitress, hostess and staff are super cool!
google avatar

Jose H.

Yelp
This is one of the toughest reviews so far. View - 5 stars Service- except for one rough waitress, the other waitresses were kind and attentive. 4 stars Dinning area- the outside balcony area is 5, the inside dinning is four (hot). Please fix the ceiling fan. 4 stars. Food - English style, not a big fan. If you like something rare/different, you might like the options. Overall average (group of 18) is 3.5 rounds to 4. Thus overall average: 4

Yelp
Visited the English Rose for brunch on New Year's Day. The restaurant is located at the top of a hill and has a spectacular view! The drive was hairy and I'm happy I was not the driver! Just be aware the road is very narrow and take it slow. The food was very good and the service was efficient, friendly and quick. The menu is creative for both food and cocktails.

Gisela N.

Yelp
Absolute paradise ! The owner is very attentive, the rooms are beautiful and clean, and the woman who showed us around was so kind. The pool will make you want to never leave & we got the charcuterie board with the room! There's a restaurant on the top floor with great food, nice portions, and good staff. They even have security in the parking lot that keeps an eye on the cars since the road can be pretty narrow.
