A cozy, eclectic bar in DTLA, the Escondite serves up tasty burgers, craft brews, and live music in a laid-back atmosphere with outdoor vibes.
"The Escondite is one of those Downtown spots you either know about or don't. And if you do know about it, you don't want anybody else to. That's because this somewhat hidden bar/restaurant tucked between Little Tokyo and the Arts District kind of has it all: live music, no cover, excellent drinks, a patio with great views of the DTLA skyline, and good bar food (get any their burgers) available until 1am every night. Just don't tell anybody." - brant cox, arden shore, nikko duren, sylvio martins, garrett snyder
"With its giant screens and extensive burger menu, The Down and Out is a great place to catch the game. They also have karaoke and trivia nights, for the days between LA Galaxy matches (a.k.a. purgatory)." - kat hong, james montgomery
"If you already know about The Escondite, you probably don’t want anyone else to find out about it. Because this somewhat hidden bar on the Little Tokyo/AD border has everything going for it—live music, no cover, great crowds, good cocktails, solid bar food, and a little patio. Just don’t tell anyone. " - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"A fantastic dive bar in the Toy District, the Escondite always has a lot going on at once, including sports games on TV, a live band, and a couple aggressively making out on the patio. The Deal: Food discounts, $5 draft beers, $4 beer cans, well drinks, and wine When: Weekdays 5 - 8pm" - brett keating
"Little Tokyo spot The Escondite is open until 1am every day, with a huge outdoor seating area set up in their parking lot. They’ve brought TVs, picnic tables, and even some booths and couches outside, with plenty of space between them for social distancing. Their drinks are still cheap, and they’re still serving their fantastic menu full of football-sized burgers (get the unfortunately named Double D, a massive double-smash burger loaded with cheese, sauce, and other extras)." - brett keating
