This is a nicer little venue! Some places either give you an unpleasant feeling or are just not well maintained. Neither was the case here. The staff was friendly for a matinee concert with kids and things were both clean and taken care of. I hope to have more concerts to attend here.

Google
Cute little corner concert place! Good drinks, awesome people, great times, convenient place Matt corman and Ollie Joseph was awesome concert along with Preston. All great talents Thanks!

David Fairall

Google
Great intimate concert space! I felt like a regular by my second trip to the bar.

Google
Amazing intimate venue. Seeing a show here is as close as you'll get to seeing it in your living room. Friendly staff and good beer round out the experience.

Karla Neff

Google
I've been to The Evening Muse a few times. When the chairs are out this venue holds about 100 patrons. Its smaller size makes for a more intimate viewing and listening experience.

Tammy Butcher

Google
This is a fantastic small venue to see a show. From what I understand they showcase various acts. We saw a local artist that was wonderful. Be aware, seating is limited to probably 75 tops. You must have a ticket or you cannot get in. We got ours on EventBrite. We had a great time.

Mike Nencetti

Google
Great place for live music. You can talk with the musicians after the show. Very friendly place.

Google
I've been to The Evening Muse many times. I absolutely love this venue. The people who run this place are amazingly kind. That is why this place is one of my favorite indoor venues to see a band. I love the acoustics. I've seen them host many different types of acts and they do a great job with every act I've seen. Whether you are going to a show or you are looking for a venue, The Evening Muse is the place for you.

Yelp
Checked out Penelope road and they were an amazing up and coming band from ATL. The vibe of evening muse is unmatched in Charlotte, service is always great and friendly. Best spot for a show

Yelp
Such a cool cool coooool venue. I've known this spot to host a variety of events and I'll seek out the calendar for The Evening Muse for sure. I was there an intimate acoustic concert for a band that I love and have seen numerous times but this was the first time like this. There were rows of chairs set up for this concert with some standing room in the back and at the bar. The bartenders were nice and quick and remembers drinks which was a nice touch. As soon as the concert was over all the chairs were removed and the stage was set for the following band of the night - there is always something going on here. I'll be back soon for sure.

Yelp
We came for a Stoplight Observations acoustic show and the ambiance was everything. It really leveled up our experience. The venue is small and intimate. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the bar service is quick and efficient. I thoroughly enjoy seeing shows here!

Yelp
The funnest hole in the wall bar ever. With everything from open Mike's, Music, and Comedy. It's not big, but it has a big heart. Dress up or dress down just come as you are and enjoy the show and ambience. NoDrinks are a little pricey, but otherwise fun place.

Yelp
This is a really nice venue and it's in an area with nice little restaurants and cafes. It's pretty small so it makes for an intimate setting listening to the music and makes the audience really connect with the music act. The price for the shows are good too. Great for a night out.

Melanie M.

Yelp
For 20 years I've been traveling 130 miles to the Evening Muse for live music. Joe and his staff are always good to their patrons. The musicians always sound great. The Muse may be small, but it Just proves that great things come in small packages.
google avatar

Asha E.

Yelp
The Muse is a moody neighborhood dive. It's an alternative creative space that welcomes all for open-mic nights, smaller music tours/shows, etc. It's an unsuspecting good time.
google avatar

Karen N.

Yelp
Monday night is open mic night along with a featured artist. There is a slight cover charge. The venue is small and intimate , it holds approximately 60 ish people. Performers wanting to perform pick a number out of a box to determine when they will perform, so it doesn't matter if they are there early or not. The owner, Don, is extremely personable and knows a lot about music and bands. We were especially excited to be there since our son routinely performs there on Monday evenings. He performs under the name Low Groves. The bartenders were exceptionally nice. A great intimate venue.
google avatar

Lou L.

Yelp
Hands down, our favorite venue in the area for live music. The acoustics are great, the staff attentive and friendly, but best of all the audience is there to enjoy the music, not talk loudly amongst themselves for the whole night. Ticket prices are reasonable, and the bar offers a nice selection of local beers and mixed drinks.
google avatar

Krystal Q.

Yelp
My review might stand out lol but it was too loud for me. We seated near the front at first and I felt the drums in my chest and ringing in my ears when they sing. During the break me and my friend moved to the back where it was a more pleasant experience, for a venue to be that small it was extremely loud. If you are sensitive to loud sounds or might suffer from vertigo like I do , I would not recommend going here for live music unless you sit in the back or bring some ear plugs. Luckily the stage is platformed so you get a good view no matter where you sit.
google avatar

Ron S.

Yelp
Super intimate setting. Surprised to find seats taking up most of the floor space. (Seating for about 70) Also surprised by the age of the crowd. I was not, per usual, the oldest dude there. Great sound system Great selection of local beers. Easy access from 36th street blue line station. This might supplant the Milestone as my fave.
google avatar

Seth W.

Yelp
The location, music and venue itself is great. The problem with this place since I can remember is they harvest a culture of being too exclusive. It has a vibe that doesn't match the live music feeling you want. They are excellent at turning people away and not making you feel welcome. Went to a show last night and as people crowded to get in the majority walked away after talking with the doorman. Charlotte needs live music so bad and it's a shame that a place that's been around for so long just doesn't get it. Overall I can't recommend the place due to the negativity surrounding this place. It's just weird.
google avatar

Yelp
The Evening Muse has been one of the best music venues that I have visited! Visited for one The Arcadian Wild's first concert since Covid restrictions lifted and I'm super glad that I made the trip down from Greensboro. The venue restricts to probably 100-150 people tops and, this specific concert, included a couple rows of chairs with standing room in the back. I will most definitely be back whenever they hose artists that I listen to or are up my alley. The price point + the intimacy factor makes it one of the best concert venues and is a must check out for those who enjoy live music.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice and affordable tickets for a concerts. 10/22 RIVVRS with Chad Meers Music tonight at 7:30pm! https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/nov/8/rivvrs-solo-act-brandon-zahursky-compared-tom-pett/ RIVVRS solo act Brandon Zahursky compared to Tom Petty, Ed Sheeran

Yelp
Intimate, good acoustics and a full bar! Parking in Noda is a pain but we knew that beforehand and opted on the paid parking beside wooden robot. Plenty of space and $13 for 3 hours wasn't bad.
google avatar

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
This is a pretty cool venue. I haven't been going to concerts much lately because I haven't had the time but I definitely want to come back to this place. I really liked the atmosphere here. Because the place is smaller than your usual venue it really adds to the experience. Other venues make you feel so distant from the artists but here, the artists we saw were in the same spaces we were. Even had a short convo with the bass player waiting for the bathroom. My only note is that if you go to the late show, you can't get in until after 10pm. I didn't take off any stars for it because you never know, maybe the previous artist went over their time, the guest could have ignored last call/closing announcements but there were still large groups of people from the previous show in the venue which wasn't cleared out so we didn't get let in until about 10 after. Other than that great experience and reasonable prices for drinks
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
This is one of the best live music venues anywhere let alone in Charlotte. A small, intimate room with people who want to listen. The sound is always top notch. Drinks are reasonably priced. The acts that play here are often here just before the blow up and play stages 10x the size. The staff are the best group of humans you could ask for. Go here. Spend money. Support live music!
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
This has always been one of my favorite places for live music . Probably #2 behind the visulite. It's in the cool neighborhood of NODA. So, after a show you u can walk to another bar for some more live music or just to chill.. it's a comfy smaller intimate place to hear some local and visiting bands .. they have a full bar. No food .. but hey just eat before or after show.
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
Small, initimate, and well....book some great bands (particularly ones from my Hometown of Asheville) Smack dab in the heart of NoDa, this little venue is a must see (and hear) when visit the Queen city. The music can vary widely but usually all great bands. Get there early if you want a seat.
google avatar

Kenny R.

Yelp
A small venue that knows how to book some acts. I think the cap is only about 120 people. With most of the smaller to medium sized venues in Charlotte closing down over the last few years its more important than ever to keep local music alive. This place, The Visulite and Smokey Joe's all are worthy of your money. I've seen some amazing shows here. They had Snarky Puppy twice! Tauk has played here. I'm sure there are tons of other names I am forgetting about that have graced us with their presence at such an intimate venue. FYI, they did just start selling liquor and are now a "private club." So you do have a little paperwork to fill out when walking in the door. Don't blame them, its NC law.
google avatar

Jon L.

Yelp
An independently owned and operated local music venue! Support your local music scene!! Went here for the first time to see James Lastra perform his first professional gig. This is a great venue for local artist to perform. It seats about 80 and they have enough room for about 40 additional SRO. Most of the staff are performers themselves so they are ready to assist with your equipment set up. The acoustics are great, the atmosphere has a very funky vibe to it. They have a full service bar as well.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Great private club with $1 membership to enjoy local live music and great local brews. That sums it up pretty well! We have enjoyed numerous shows at this venue and the sounds is good, the staff is friendly and helpful, the bathrooms are clean, and the prices are nice. I had a $10 ticket and a $6 beer. They also offered wine and mixed drinks. Eat at one of the many restaurants nearby. The lighting is cool with string lights and colored mood, the artwork is famous musician inspired, and the vibes are plentiful. Great small venue in the heart of noda.

Kimberly N.

Yelp
This was my first time going to this establishment. I had a wonderful time, the staff was very kind and professional. A Great experience!
google avatar

Stephen B.

Yelp
As a business traveller who is also a musician, I am always looking for good live music in the cities I find myself. Found a nice spot in NODA. The Evening Muse is a cool small music venue. I liked the vibe as soon as I opened the door to enter. There is an actual stage with good sound and lights (as opposed to bars that just stick musicians in a corner). The seating is theater-style with rows of chairs. People are attentive and listening to the musicians while they are playing. The Evening Muse is a real music venue where the music is the focal point. Worthy. :)
google avatar

Felicia C.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Noda. I appreciate the diversity and the reasonable price for entertainment. It's like a neighborhood bar with a little extra.

Samantha S.

Yelp
Great little night club for listening to live indie music! I went here for a first date and it was a good experience
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
I visited this venue for the first time last night and I'm so in love with my experience! The owner was great, it's awesome to see and meet someone who cares a lot about your personal experience at their place! Bartenders were excellent and super friendly. However, those are not the only reasons I hope people go to see a show, go because the acoustics are phenomenal!
google avatar

Yelp
I have been a customer of the "Muse" for many years. It is literally my favorite live music venue in Charlotte! The staff remembers all of their guests and treats you like family. The quaint, intimate, environment makes seeing an event here extra special. Not to mention all the charitable events they host. 10/10 recommend!
google avatar

Nick F.

Yelp
The Evening Muse is one of my favorite places to catch a show. Atmosphere is super intimate and all of their staff is extremely friendly. They were shut down for an extremely long time due to Covid, but I'm happy to see they're back open again. I looooove this place! Be sure to check it out if you're in Noda.

Yelp
So I finally made it into the Evening Muse one night. It just so happened, I went in on open mic Monday night. I couldn't recommend a better time to go. Not that they don't have a lot going on other nights but I really enjoyed the eclectic mix of music in here on an open mic night. There was all manner of entertainment here. From Christian folk bluegrass by some southern belles to spoken word storytelling to raunchy comedy to garage band style funk. Prepare for something to be rated R if you show up on open mic night by the way. Based on that, unless you know the bands, I'd say it's not a place for kids. That said, there tend to be a lot of high school age kids in here ready to try their hand at mini-fame. The full bar has a good selection of drinks from your PBR talls on up to mixed cocktails. Staff is very friendly and cover is cheap (at least on Monday). I will probably jump on the opportunity to head back here for a more scripted show with a few bands. All the bands I talked to on Monday night were super polite and friendly and just happy to have folks interested in their music. Not at all what you might have in mind about hoity toity musicians. I left here feeling like this was one of the most awesome Monday nights I've had in Charlotte.

Yelp
One of my favorite music spots! And I actually went to a fun comedy show recently. Definitely a space that is intimate and offers a lot of fun.
google avatar

Alice B.

Yelp
Very intimate, smaller music venue located in the heart of NoDA neighborhood of Charlotte. Occasionally I go online to their website to see who is coming for the month. Unfortunately I do not find as many R&B/Soul artists as I would like to see, but I've seen some really cool people. There is a bar located along the side of the venue, DJ booth near the entrance, and restrooms in the back. Check their calendar to see who is coming. Ticket prices are always reasonable.

Yelp
Bounced in after seeing a show at the neighborhood theater. We didn't have high expectations but were completely impressed by the band, kid squall. They were awesome! Two bass players, a drum set, and all the voice box you can handle! Aside from the the handful of band fans we were the only ones in the tiny joint. Which just meant more dance floor for me. The venue had a great sound and the bar staff was friendly and helpful. I plan on making this a regular stop when I'm hanging in NoDa.
google avatar

Angie P.

Yelp
I love this small, intimate venue for concerts. The sound is really good & I love being so close to the performers. Word of caution, get there early if you want a good seat / standing spot. I haven't used any of the bar services, so I can't comment on those.

Yelp
Very upsetting evening!!!!! We purchased tickets to see Matt Simons and Nathan Angelo a month or two in advance. We really enjoyed the performers... they were fantastic!!! Our tickets said "doors open at 7:00, performance starts at 7:30. Our tickets were $12 each and $1 for club membership. About 9:30-10:00, the concert was over. This little guy with dark hair and dark glasses that worked there, came up to us and told us that if we wanted to stay at the bar, we had to pay again for the next performer!!! WHAT?!?!? Our tickets didn't say anything about the show being over at a certain time. The bar is open till 2:00. The entire situation was handled very unprofessionally and the staff was horrible!!! The tickets they sale should specify what time you have to leave so that there are no surprises!!! I'm 49 years old... I've been to a lot of bars over the years and NEVER seen anything like this place!! It's a shame... we were so looking forward to this night and they ruined it!!!
google avatar

steve s.

Yelp
Great intimate venue like no other in Charlotte! The owner books a terrific variety of music and makes sure the performers get a chance to sound great. The bar is run well and the room is set up in rows concert style. All in all the best spot in CLT to hear music.
google avatar

Greg F.

Yelp
My first time at an open mic outside of NYC, and while I am no musician, the group that performed on Monday night were both excellent and very varied. Only one cover song was played all night and the quality of tunes was a really pleasant surprise. Staff are gruff but efficient and participate fully they only add to the character of the place and it's no nonsense atmosphere. Will be back.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Great music venue, but don't trust their website that you can park at the Y. Everyone's cars were booted and they charged $125 to take it off.

Brian S.

Yelp
Very bad experience at this bar. Bartenders were extremely disrespectful to my wife. Several people around received terrible treatment.
google avatar

Melanie E.

Yelp
This is an amazing venue... Small, intimate but packed with talent. I feel like a $10 cover charge is a bit high unless it's a touring band coming through, but I guess that helps sort out the crowd a bit. The guys that run the bar are funny and watch out for you. There is a great open-mike night with some crazy-cool talented locals. The acoustics in here are really good. I also like that the guys running the place keep things moving as they need to. I definitely recommend this venue for people visiting Charlotte!
google avatar

Grant P.

Yelp
Best venue in Charlotte hands down! Bands from all over the country, even other countries, play here and it sounds so good in that room. The bar has a great beer selection and the staff is so friendly. I've even seen them call Uber's for people or walk people to their cars because they're so nice!

Krissie C.

Yelp
The best place to see live music in Charlotte. Intimate venue, great sound, and most importantly, staff that care about the artists, the fans, and the community.
google avatar

Neil C.

Yelp
The spot: street corner. The feel: grimy. The acoustics: lovely. The result: perfect. No better way to spend $5-10 on a weeknight. Go hug a singer. A great place fostering a great scene at the right size and the right pace. The only suggestion I could have for the Muse would be to get a side space, for artist meet-and-greet to happen in a less loud environment...so a coffee shop next-door would be the coolest combo I could imagine!
google avatar

Bryan P.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner at Cabo Fish Taco, and then decided to see what else was happening in the Noda area. We walked up the street and stumbled upon the Evening Muse. They had a fantastic band playing inside. Quincy Mumford and the Reason Why. I was a little hesitant to go in, but asked and the cover charge was only $5. We had a great time. The crowd inside was eclectic, they had some local beer on draft, and the music was amazing. After the set the band was out in the crowd talking to people. They were the nicest people. I definitely plan to come back to the venue as its a great place to spend a couple of hours after dinner.
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
An oddly shaped space with surprisingly good acoustics and decent tap beer prices, if a somewhat bland selection. Seating, when they have it, is chairs crammed so close together you'll be sitting in your nabe's lap. A dollar for tap water (with ice, at least). Seems they've fixed the AC issues. Interesting that it supports so many scenes - with two shows a night, you could see gospel-y bluegrass and "indie rock" in a 3 hour block (they'll want cover twice). Door can climb to steep-land for bigger acts, but it might be worth it to see them in such intimate environs.
google avatar

Katherine C.

Yelp
I'm giving it 4 stars. This is because I'm trying to judge this place objectively. It is nice. It is very small. It is decent. It looks like the type of place someone from a rom-com would go to on a first date. It is lovely in a lot of ways. I always hear people talk highly of it. I'm not super into the singer/song writer thing. Maybe if I were more into that then I would appreciate it more. It just is so....stuffy to me. I feel guilty for laughing in there. I have a loud cackle that I cannot control when someone makes an especially good joke. I have to really try not to laugh when inside The Evening Muse (WHICH MAKES ME WANT TO REALLY LAUGH) I think this is probably a really great place for a lot of people. I just don't get it. It is me- not them. I have heard that they are involved in the community and that is great. So, yay, take a date here. Just be prepared to sit and not dance.
google avatar

Yelp
I love The Evening Muse. Such an intimate venue in the heart of NoDa. Great place to catch a duo on tour or head over on Mondays for open mic. Seen many a show here and have never been disappointed. You can't go wrong with the bar either. A few local options and all come in venue-friendly bottles. Beware: there is a tab limit if you're using a card. I think its $6, unless it has changed recently. It's a great place to stop in and take a load off. Listen to the local talent and take in the arts district. There are typically seats put out for all but its even better when it's standing room only. You can pack a surprisingly large group of people in this little place. You can buy tickets ahead of time on their website, too. Don't always have to pay at the door. You can't go wrong with The Evening Muse. What a great place for music, poetry and general assembly of beer-craving locals!

Yelp
I am a big fan of live music and have heard it played in many venues. But, the Evening Muse is my favorite venue anywhere for a pure music experience. The owner, Joe, is also the sound man and he is a perfectionist. The setting is intimate but transitions well from solo acoustic to more hard rocking grooves. They book bands and people who you have heard of and who you have not heard of, but regardless, it will be good. I like to go see someone I have not heard of and usually I walk away a fan. I remember one time I thought Don Dixon was playing and I went but it turns out it was the next night. Instead, it was Sally Jaye, a singer songwriter based in L.A. She was great and I left with her CD which bears repeated listening.

Yelp
Went last night with a group of friends. I want to point out a few things that we noticed. It cost $10 to enter The Evening Muse. They have a single bathroom to share between the crowded room. They don't serve liquor or anything else besides beer and wine. The music is blaring loud, so speaking with friends must wait till the band takes a break. Based on the other 5 bars on the same street, and many more bars in the area, I don't think I would recommend this place. If I want to go to a concert, I'd rather go to Fillmore in the music factory. If they removed/lowered the entrance fee, and added more drink options, then it could be worth it. Overall it could have been a nice late night place, but they need to work on a few things first. Since there is a lot of competition in Charlotte.
