A Guide to Denver’s Irish Pubs

"Numerous restaurants have called this three-story building home over the years, but the Fainting Goat most recently revamped and revived the worn-out space. The menu is loosely guided by Irish flavors, with more traditional takes on the cuisine popping up in weekly specials. With heaters and its own bar, the third-floor patio is the perfect place to escape heated shuffleboard games." - Camila Navarrette

Great spot to stop in for a night cap. We stayed around the corner at the Hostel, so the location was convenient. I got the hazy IPA on draft every night. We got the 12p to 2a burrito. It was okay. I would recommend overall. Good people and good bartender.

Mr. T

Google
High strung/super anxious guy missing teeth was bartending and kept loudly telling me to "calm down" because I was asking him questions/talking to him about an overcharge (overcharges happen. No big deal). I wasn't yelling. Wasn't rude. Simply inquisitive after he had a seemingly negative interaction with a coworker that was trying to clarify things for him. Wings were mediocre on top of that. Def won't be back. (I don't even write reviews bro)

A group of us took a trip to Denver from Atlanta and when we heard about this bar we of course had to come check it out. They have a loft upstairs that’s catered to Falcons fans. Atmosphere was amazing and so were the people we met from the owners to the regulars. Our server was nice (I wish I remembered her name) and the food was really good. You HAVE to try the buffalo chicken rolls. 10/10. We will definitely be back if we are in Denver again. Thanks for a great time!

As a newcomer to the neighborhood, I've been incredibly lucky to discover The Fainting Goat over the past month. It's quickly become my go-to spot, and that's largely thanks to the fantastic staff. I wanted to specifically call out a few people who have consistently made my experience exceptional: * **Brennen:** Brennen's knowledge of the drinks menu is impressive. He always offers great suggestions and is incredibly friendly, making every visit feel welcoming. * **Clair:** Clair is a true professional. Her efficiency and positive attitude are infectious, and she always manages to keep the bar running smoothly, even when it's busy. * **Jenna:** Jenna has a knack for remembering regulars' orders, and she always greets everyone with a warm smile. Her attentiveness and friendly service are top-notch. * **Mia:** Mia's personality is so vibrant and engaging. She creates a fun atmosphere, and always makes sure everyone feels included. The Fainting Goat itself has a great atmosphere, but the staff truly elevates the experience. However, if I had to offer one negative note, it would be that the prices for alcoholic beverages are a bit steep. I highly recommend checking it out!

Google
Food was pretty good! Nicer quality pub food than mostly anywhere I’ve been. The few floors are really nice, too. The outdoor possibility is awesome. Just one thing that threw me way off. I was there a few weeks ago for an event, and when it was time for everyone to home, one of the employees was pushing us out, and specifically saying that “go home and shoot a porno, it’s time to go home.” That is verbatim what he said. Tall white guy with a beard, the employee was. Strange to say the least. Nice all around but maybe get more normal, less out of line employees

Google
It was a super good experience over all. Drinks came quick, food came quicker. The pretzel was incredible and the tots were Tetris shaped. It was all super good, and super cute. A divey little place, but in the absolute best ways.

Google
Didn’t have food this time but love their potato skins and chicken sandwich. Chill bar seating as well as a roof and extra seating upstairs. Overall an easy pub with friendly staff.

Google
I came to Livingston for a quiet little getaway. My husband Rod and I came to see the BEAUTIFUL Yellowstone!! THEN we stumbled upon the Fainting Goat Pub and I met Alex and her margaritas. Now I’m literally googling how to fake my own death in Tulsa so I can live here forever. They are that good. And the Shepards pie… DROOL!!! I would fight a grizzly bear for another round. Alex, if you’re reading this, I love you. If my husband’s reading this, mind your business (and i’m moving)

Yelp
A bar that has drinks and food? That's all I need. Fainting goat has a great rooftop for Sunny days, the bartenders are always chill, and it has great vibes for watching sports. My only feedback is sometimes the food is inconsistent (such as the crazy salty pickle chips we or salty buffalo chicken wrap). But I've been okay with it enough to go back every time. They also have weekly specials (e.g, tacos, drafts, etc.)
google avatar

Yelp
This place is shite. Nothing about it is an Irish Pub. It should be illegal to call it that. Not friendly, bad food, bright lights. This place has horrific acoustics. The speakers are obnoxiously loud. The server was incompetent and not friendly. Got to be at least one of those. Competent or friendly, ideally both. They charge 5.00 for a side of onion rings with your sandwich or burger and they came out stone cold. French dip had no sauce and was cold. Fried pickles are inedibly salty. I love fried pickles and get them everywhere and could not eat them. Horrible horrible experience. Will never go back.

Yelp
This place has quickly become a favorite. It is a neighborhood pub that also serves an extensive food menu. All in all, the drinks are decent and the food is pretty good. Vibes are chill and no frills. Can't think of anything else you'd want more.

John M.

Yelp
Come here for the drinks not the food. Bartender was nice. Music was pretty loud for the afternoon. Came in to try a new food spot as I work in the area. I won't be back. When I ate it, I could tell that their kitchen wouldn't be passing an upcoming review.
google avatar

Ruba A.

Yelp
Came here a few times before always loved it, but the bartender Marco tonight definitely showed a bit favoritism. I've definitely gotten better service from every other bartender in the past. Other then that it was a good environment, great DJ for karaoke. $1 wings on Wednesdays is a score.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place. Nice dark bar to belly up to. My friend and I came here for lunch before an art show down the street. My friend Ann will always get breakfast ~ me? Lunch. She had the eggs and hash. She loved it. I went with the Reuben and tater tots. Fantastic. My vote for best Reuben in Denver. Fight me
google avatar

Jackson T.

Yelp
I used to frequent this bar - last night there were 2 rats inside by the front door. Pretty disgusting and I won't be back. Don't trust the staff or health code adherence at this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little pub with tvs on the bottom floor, arcade games on the second, and a nice rooftop patio! The drinks and specials are plentiful and the bartender was happy to change the tv to the game we were looking for. For bar food I was pleasantly surprised. The fried pickles came out super quick and they were piping hot. The Rueben (pictured) was delicious! Definitely our fave and will be ordering again next time. I also enjoyed that the Caesar wrap was toasted. The only thing I didn't love was the onion rings, but not a problem since I enjoyed the fries and know to get those next time.
google avatar

Erica K.

Yelp
I came here Memorial Day with a friend in town and we really enjoyed it! The bartender was super nice and opened up the patio for us and the guy working was great too! We ordered wings and queso and everything was great!
google avatar

Chris Y.

Yelp
I live in the hood and come in frequently for beers and a snack. Great neighborhood crowd and nice staff. Fun upstairs patio. The second floor has video games and the only reason I gave it 4 stars is there is no pinball. I know I know but I love pinball. Support the biz

Tedd N.

Yelp
I've been going to the goat for 13 years but hadn't been for awhile. The first thing I noticed was that it was dead at happy hour. All the longtime regulars were gone. Had a few beer and the first bartender insulted me. I said something to the next bartender about all the long time locals were gone and he said "I'm not going to take this negativity" so I cashed out and left zero tip. RIP another great Denver dive bar that got ruined by the new owners and new bartenders. All you have to do is look at the lack of long-time locals to see the wring on the wall.
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
Loved when I came by. Got a little strange with the sex games but I gotta vibes for a bit... probably a better pre grame place
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
This bar might not look like much on the outside but it's nicer once you're inside. It's a multi-storey yet cozy sports bar that have enough TVs for whatever you'd like to watch. We stopped by for a couple drinks and the staff were happy to serve us. It happened to be happy hour and the prices weren't bad. For about $50 we had 4 beers, 2 shots and 3 plates of shareable food. My partner absolutely loved the chicken wings plus they gave us a huge amount of sauce. The plate of tater tots was both tasty and enormous. Probably too enormous. There's no way we could finish eating that entire plate between the two of us. We also had meatballs which were delicious. Looks delicious just looking at it too. See photos. I wish the outside door looked more appealing as we weren't sure what we were walking into at first. Besides from that, it was a delightful and I'd be happy to come back.

Kevin L.

Yelp
The Fainting Goat is one of the best bars in cap hill. Sports on many TV's, darts, pool, upstairs patio, karaoke on Friday, and Claire is the best bartender in Denver. She'll pretty much do anything you ask if you tell her it's your bday

Keith N.

Yelp
This place is awesome, the old school rustic Irish style mixed with new music and a couple games of pool make this a great afternoon or late spot night. If you get a chance get the phillicheese tots, outstanding. Ask for Marco this guys a great bartender and a great addition to any conversation, thank you Fainting Goat, cheers till next time

Ashley A.

Yelp
Foremost this place is awesome. I take everyone visiting from out of town here whenever I get the chance. Marco is the man! I've been going here all summer long, and while the whole staff always is excellent he truly goes above and beyond. Growing up out of state I've always loved finding the atmosphere of a smaller, homely style bar. This place checks all marks. Would recommend this gem to anyone visiting and looking forward to being a regular for years to come!

Yelp
Came on a Thursday with some friends for the half price apps. Meatballs were good, green chili was nicely spiced and flavorful. Probably wouldn't have been satisfied paying full price for them. Decent enough lively atmosphere for a Thursday. One of the bartenders was very rude to my friend, he was a short guy with a backwards hat. He was scratching a scratch off lottery ticket he bought from a machine on their pool table. He yelled at him to not do that and came over and rudely brushed off the tiny bits of scratched off material off the very already-beer stained felt. Will not come back because of him.

Michael B.

Yelp
Apparently this is a country bar now, you have to buy music credits to hear anything but cuntry. Also the bartender doesn't know the difference between whisky and rye. You don't run into that at country bars. So not authentic

Brooke P.

Yelp
Could've been better - Its a bar with a nice rooftop. I had the mac n' cheese there one night and it was great. Months later I ordered it again for lunch and it was way off the mark. I picked it up and didn't look at it until I got home and called in after I saw that it wasn't the same as before or as it is advertised. I was told the manager would call back and issue a refund but never got that call. So check out the pictures below: What they advertise: extra crispy chicken tenders tossed in buffalo sauce. Finished with bleu cheese crumbles and panko bread crumbs. What I got: grilled chicken not crispy tenders, buffalo sauce, I did not get the bleu cheese crumble or panko bread crumbs.

Yelp
If you don't wanta watch what the bartender wants to watch. Your crap out of luck. Even though your the paying customer. Had one drink and split. Bar lost out on the 5 of us drinking and eating for at least 3 hours all because the bartender wanted to watch his game and not what the paying customers wanted to watch And he was pretty much the only one watching it We'll find a better bar to spend our money at! Cheers fainting goat. won't be back there anytime soon

Yelp
Not really one to go out of my way to celebrate St. Patty's day like that, the bf and I, for some odd reason, found ourselves roaming the streets this year looking for green beer. And by streets, I really just mean Broadway. And thank the Irish Gods because that's exactly where the Fainting Goat lives. So, we didn't drink any green beer, but we did get in on a couple of Irish Car Bombs (because why not) and some food from their Patty's Day menu. Just a handful of items on deck that day, but what we tried were actually very good. The bf with a Reuben and fries - a generous pile of corned beef with swiss in between a couple pieces of rye. Very traditional and very good. I tried Corned Beef and Cabbage for what I think was the first time, and that beef was really delicious - flavorful and not as salty as I was anticipating it to be. Tender and perfectly fatty with a side of cabbage, carrots, and I believe even more corned beef - so good. Irish comfort food I could definitely get down with any day of the year. I can't say much else about the space and food served on non-Irish holidays, though it looks like a pretty popular spot for football games and many drinks. I would not be opposed to making this a new St. P's day tradition.

Yelp
The food is so yummy. Had to wait a bit before we could attend an event and decided to stop by The Fainting Goat, so happy we did! The pretzel is effing delicious. Drinks are just right, would definitely visit again!

Claire P.

Yelp
A very fun venue. Great wings and sauces. Food was fresh, drinks were cold. Good for small groups or big groups.

Jessica S.

Yelp
All of the staff were super punctual and attentive. The wings were OUTSTANDING (and I have pretty high expectations for my wings). 3 different floors to hop around to. Great all around!

Noah M.

Yelp
Had the most amazing experience here! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It's a great environment and place to hang out and play some pool or chill on the rooftop. The manager Angela checked on us and all the other guests to make sure everything was perfect. I was thrilled to find out all the food is prepared and made in house and you can tell by the quality! Best chicken tenders I've ever had
google avatar

James J.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill big time omg. Hiked up prices, food is pathetic and drinks served warm. To top it off I had to actually beg to get sound turned on for bronco game. Apparently playing old Lynyrd Skynyrd is more important at a "Sports bar" in Denver Colorado for the literally 3 dudes in this dump. To top it off they wouldn't honor their OWN freaking advertisement! See the attached pic. What fools are running this place now? Sad... really sad.

Garrett M.

Yelp
I went in and it immediately smelt terrible in there. They denied my friends who were 21 and the food sucked. I pissed on the wall.
google avatar

Cesar R.

Yelp
Fainting Goats always make me laugh so when I saw this place pop-up on Yelp I New I was going to like it. I went in the middle of the day so I didn't get the full experience but what I saw I liked. Bar is big and the bartender was friendly and efficient. They had Cider is to me always the place a true Pub. Everyone on Yelp and the menu said the Fish & Chips was one if not the best in the city so I ordered that. It did not disappoint. Two large well crushed and crunchy pieces of fish and the chips aka fries were good. I would definitely be back to see how they do Happy Hour.
google avatar

Amber A.

Yelp
Not sure what was in their pickle juice but it was spicy! I liked it (: The wings were such a nice surprise as well! I recommend the buffalo garlic sauce (: Also tried the Irish nachos - they're massive, nice for a group share

Emily F.

Yelp
The sever was nice but not attentive the food was good but this is literally a dive bar a loud bar nothing nice and I paid for a burger and a soda and a side of onion rings average food for a Bar it cost me 40 including tip I can eat at a much nicer and quieter place for that price if not cheaper . Will not be coming back

Epiphany P.

Yelp
Service is awesome, food is alright it lacked seasoning and I think they should change the oil in the fryer :( I ended up getting a grilled cheese which was delicious drinks hit though so good.
google avatar

Emma J.

Yelp
The downstairs of this place is definitely a dive bar, thankfully we discovered the upstairs roof deck. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend got the blackened chicken wrap which when it arrived, we were both pretty surprised at how tiny it was, however when he was finished he said he was actually quite full. Tater tots were good too!
google avatar

Yelp
How can you not want to hang out at a place called "The Fainting Goat?" Especially when they have board games. And darts. And shuffleboard. So many wonderful things. They even have Woodchuck's Gumption cider, one of my favorites. This is a casual, welcoming, homey pub. Wooden bar and heavy wooden tables, and everything looks kind of old and well-loved in the best way. You feel like you can stay all day and relax. That's pretty much what I did on my last visit. We intended to simply order beer and cider, which we did of course, but we also couldn't help perusing the menu and ordering a fair amount of food. Our waiter was so kind and patient, making sure to clarify with the chef what is gluten free and what isn't. I ended up with a burger sans bun with alllllll the toppings, plus a side of garlic mashed potatoes which were amazing. We enjoyed playing darts even though they were kind of falling apart and the chalkboard thing you're suppose to write on doesn't work at all! I look forward to returning for some shuffleboard and board game battles.

Yelp
Wanted to try something a little different and found it at the Fainting Goat!! I ordered the Broadway burger and was delighted. This is the best, messiest, perfect burger I've had in a long time. Once you pick it up and take your first bite, be prepared not to put it down. The jalapeño cream cheese gives just the right amount of heat and creamiest addition! The meat was cooked perfectly and had the perfect amount of crunchy char. The tots were fresh and tasty too! My companion ordered the Mac and cheese which was also fantastic. Just the right amount of poblano and thick cut bacon. I was almost sad I didn't order that at first. The green chili stew was different but still good. Derive was impeccable !! We will be back!!
google avatar

Ellen L.

Yelp
Just came here for a beer- it's conveniently located on Broadway with easy parking. I remember a jukebox and some games. On a Friday night, they weren't full and it looked like their regulars were happy to have a place to hang that's not their home.
google avatar

Michelle V.

Yelp
I still dream about the chicken fingers. Cute, divey spot. Main floor with the bar and the local crowd. Several TVs which they will put on your game if it isn't busy which we got lucky on to watch the USWNT for Olympic qualifiers. They've got a happy hour, pretty good service for running between the bar and dining room. Second floor is a cool area with darts and a private area to hang out. I haven't made it to the rooftop yet but looking forward to it here soon. Highly recommend if you need a laid back dive bar vibe.
google avatar

Peter M.

Yelp
I really like the Fainting Goat Pub for a number of reasons. First, their food, while very 'American bar' style, is really quite good. I've tried a burger, one of the sandwich options, and the fish & chips, and each was very tasty. Next, the ambiance is very lively and fun. It's a relatively 'skinnier' bar format, but is also very vertical, in that you can hike stairs to upper levels for more elbow room and a different vibe than the bustling street level bar. Lastly, the staff is quick and friendly, and the place seems generally well run. Parking is street only, but in that stretch of Broadway, there are usually plenty of metered spots available that stop metering at 6:00pm.
google avatar

Rich B.

Yelp
The help was very friendly & attentive. As for the food: Pretzel appetizer was ok. Pretzel warm & dipping sauces were good. Green chili was very good, spicy enough w good flavor but the corn tortillas were cold, a bit dry, & blah. Detracted from an otherwise nice dish. Provolone cheeseburgers were ok. Fries were typical frozen nothing special. Arnold Palmer was not very good...lemonade was awful. And if you care they are coke not pepsi. Atmosphere was nice. Need to step up finer points on the food side.
google avatar

Lena C.

Yelp
A great hangout spot, especially at happy hour from 4pm to 7pm when there are $5 wings, nachos, and a handful of other items. The food is reasonably priced, general public food, but done well. My friends love the fish n chips, for $12 you get what seems like 2 huge pieces of fish that make up a whole fish. The chicken tenders are good, they are crispier and served with house made BBQ sauce. The mac and cheese balls are made with their ancho chili mac and cheese, these are good but not outstanding. As for drinks, the beer selection is on the smaller side, maybe 10-12 to pick from. Good enough for me, but they might not have your favorite craft brew. I love the chill atmosphere, and while it's only pub food, it's really well done pub food. Definitely will be a go-to hangout spot with my friends.
google avatar

Brent G.

Yelp
Why would you advertise being open Thanksgiving day, if you are not actually going to open? As friends and I arrived just before 2:30 to breakaway from traditional activities for a bit, we quickly realized we had completely wasted our time and ruined part of our holiday thanks to the extreme unprofessionalism. Maybe next time, either open like you said you would, or update your website if you don't. It takes five minutes. Thanks for the extreme inconvenience.
google avatar

Jake B.

Yelp
Radical rooftop patio, lust-worthy lunch special, and a heartwarming hostess. I will return! (Probably not though because I live in St. Louis)
google avatar

Charlene G.

Yelp
While walking to a dispensary, we stumbled on a street sign that read: $2 mimosas-So of course we had to go in. These mimosas are nothing like what I have ever seen. They don't use the normal champagne glasses, they literally serve their mimosas in pitcher glasses (pls refer to my picture). 2 drinks later you are feeling really good because they are quite generous on the champagne. Our server was Norman-super chill guy with very attentive customer service. The food was very tasty. I posted pictures on what we all orders. You cannot go wrong with there carne asada friends or nachos. *The GREEN CHILI here is pretty good. I have definitely have had better... But the chili here is pretty good!
google avatar

Jonathon C.

Yelp
Very good. Saturday 130pm great service. Had the tommyknocker IPA, very flavorful. Rooftop bar is small, the fish and chips was hot and light. The tachos were really good. We are in for short weekend but would recommend this place!
google avatar

Aldo O.

Yelp
The service is nice, I ordered wings and they were really dried, I must say that for sports their beer on tap selection is really small.
google avatar

Casey D.

Yelp
Whatever Floats Your Goat OK, I didn't get that expression entirely right, but who needs boats when you have goats? Seriously though, The Fainting Goat is a fantastic little pub right in the Golden Triangle neighborhood. You can grab a cold, frosty pint to knock the edge off of a tough workweek, or have a nice sit down meal at a table or booth of your liking. The menu at Fainting Goat is actually one of the many pleasant surprises you'll find here. Knock your socks off with a killer burger and an order of Irish nachos (house made chips, corned beef, & Swiss cheese, topped with horseradish dijonnaise). The weekend is for fun and fun is what you'll have! Enjoy drinks with your friends on top of their quaint rooftop patio while basking in the midday sun or soaking in the late night breeze. It just doesn't get any better than The Fainting Goat. No pretensions. All Irish class!
google avatar

Allie R.

Yelp
Celebrated at fainting goat after the St. Patricks day parade this weekend. It was busy which was fine, it is actually a fairly big place with 3 levels. The rooftop is gorgeous and has great views of the mountains. My girlfriends and I had drinks and food, and probably the best service I've ever experienced in a bar setting. Our waiter, who was also the manager was awesome (I wish I could remember his name!) Everyone seemed to really enjoy their jobs at the fainting goat which was so cool! Mark the owner sat down with us and chatted with the group, he also was so nice and friendly. Had the buffalo chicken wrap with tots and blue cheese..it was very tasty. My whole experience here was so great, the goat will definitely be my new neighborhood hangout.
google avatar

Tarki W.

Yelp
Came in with the intentions to sit on the roof and have a few drinks and happy hour apps. On the website, the board outside the door it says happy hour from 3-7! So I asked the waitress and she rudely said "that's pre-Covid" we are the only ones in here and it took forever for our order to be placed. She was outside smoking as soon as we came in. She is VERY rude. I come here a lot bc the wings are amazing and the service WAS good. We say thank you she responds w "mhmm" so needless to say I will not be back and this was a piss poor service

Steve S.

Yelp
So I am here trying their bloody Mary as I am on a quest to find the best one on Capitol Hill. So far, I would put this at the top of the list.
google avatar

Nghia L.

Yelp
I ordered their burger with onion rings and it was juicy and delicious. The margarita was kinda strong and need more margarita mix and lime juice.
google avatar

JoAnn H.

Yelp
The steak and cheese nachos are great. As is the fish and chips. Not a fan of the coleslaw. Hubby said the wings are crispy but a little greasy. And the Mac and cheese ball is good. Could use a little more seasoning but i did try it without the sauce. All in all. A nice lunch with a drink. I would definitely one back when in town.
