"Open fires and exposed timbers set against touches of contemporary design help make this restored Grade II pub, set in a delightful hamlet, a charming place for replenishment and recuperation. The frequently changing menus have an eye on sustainability and utilise quality ingredients from their farm, be it their own hogget or lemon verbena cleverly used to mimic the taste of lemon in a 'zero-mile' lemon geranium cake. Wonderful homemade syrups help create some refreshing aperitifs." - Michelin Inspector

I booked for my partners birthday and the service was fantastic and they kindly obliged the I asked at booking for a Chocolate cake. Food was excellent and somewhere we will absolutely comeback to. Shame we live so far away or this would be a frequented establishment. All produce is locally sourced and looking after British farming which has to be admired.

We are in Devon on holiday. Previous guests at the cottage recommended this pub. It did not disappoint. The place itself is decorated to such a high quality, including the toilets! The service was faultless, Becky served us so well, friendly and professional. The food tasted as good as it looked .. a few photos attached. Even the drinks were amazing, with their own on site made cordials! Our little dog (Ned) was also made to feel welcome. We went there to celebrate our 36th Wedding Anniversary and we had a lovely surprise when the kitchen did us such a thoughtful desert plate.. see photo. The whole experience has made it an extra special day for us. Thank you to Becky, the staff we met and to the brilliant chef and of course the team behind the scene.

What a fantastic lunch. I had the Hogget (lamb) and can honestly say it was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten! My wife had the parsnip soup, also great.

This is a true gastropub with as interesting a backstory as any. Concepted and opened in an old, failing pub by a son of the village who made his fortune in Silicon Valley in the USA tech industry and gave back. Menu is very serious about being unusual, and is well executed. The seasonal squash soup with lemon was exceptional in its richness. Shepherd;s Pie of hoggett, with smoked garlic mash, mint and root veg. richly satisfying. Brixham Monkfish Sandwich is huge -- an American take on a sandwich. Enough for two. Great selection of local beer and soft drinks and startlingly researched wine list. Most servers are deeply committed to the concept and enthusiastic to help. We did come across one grumpy waitress who seemed to be having what Americans would call 'a bad day'. Get seated in the garden if weather affords. This being rural Devon, dogs are mandatory.

We have eaten here before and thoroughly enjoyerd so decided to stay overnight on dinner , bed & breakfast package . Beautifully furnished and decorated room , fabulous bed and linens , stocked bar , coffee machine , fresh cookies . Tasting menu was delicious with dishes cleverly constructed using locally sourced ingredients. Nice wine list . Delicious hot breakfast delivered to the room to cap it all off . We will definitely return to this Devon gem . Bravo The Farmers Arms and Collective Team 👏🏻

A really lovely restaurant. We went for the tasting menu. The food was beautifully presented and cooked. A lot of the ingredients were from the restaurant’s farm. The timing of the service was just right, the staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable. The photos show just how exceptional it was.

This was our first visit to The Farmers Arms and what a lovely place. We moved to Devon just over a year ago and many of the friends we have met had recommended The Farmers Arms to us and now we know why. We were greeted by Sophie and her open smile immediately welcomed us into the establishment. The fit and finish of the decor inside the pub was excellent and felt very up market. There was a nice selection of local ales behind the bar and a well chosen wine list. The food was easily the best we have had in Devon and you can see there was a great attention to detail when creating the flavours for each dish. Knowing the ingredients were locally sourced is such a good thing helping to sustain the nearby farmers and producers. We have already booked a return visit and I am absolutely sure we will be there many many more times. Finally, each and every member of the staff we met were lovely, open, fully engaging and knowledgeable about their products and a pleasure to interact with. Thanks to each and every staff member at The Farmers Arms but a special mention must go out to Sophie and the head chef who designed the menu and put the wonderful food on the table in front of us.

We were excited to try this place for Sunday lunch after the reviews. Things started well with the sharing starters, which were lovely, however, the Sunday roast was a little disappointing. The cauliflower cheese took ages to arrive, half way through the course, the roast potatoes were hard and impossible to cut through. It would have been nice to have had some horseradish , mustard or apple sauce to go with the pork and beef, however, we were told afterwards we should have asked if we wanted condiments!! We may also be in a minority that prefers our beef to be a little on the medium side rather than well done.

Delicious food in modern ambiente with proffesionell and quick service. More on the priecy side but definetly quality food and cookery.
