Outstanding. The best bloody Kiwi burger in NZ. Absolutely delicious, great quality ingredients, very generous portions and super reasonably priced. The owner/ chef didn’t catch his name was truly great. The location was very charming with an awesome little converted bus to kitchen, outdoor seating and cheeky wekas cruising around trying to catch crumbs from this local delicacy. Honestly I wish I didn’t have it now because I feel any other burger is going to be a let down compared to the Fat Tui. We had both meat and vegetarian options and they were both excellent and they also had vegan options. The punnet of chips was the biggest punnet of chips I’ve ever seen, don’t even think you could get that many frozen chips at the supermarket for the price. The best value in NZ I recon. Cheers

Google
The best burger I’ve ever had! I’d give it six stars if I could. They have two vegan burgers on their menu. I tried both of them and have to say, the vegan burger with hash browns was incredible. While it may be a little messy to eat, the taste and texture are exceptional. I ate every last piece of it. The portions are quite big. So I’d recommend you only order an additional side of fries if you’re really hungry.

Great burgers! Love that they’re filled with lots of different yummy salads, not just yah standard tomato and lettuce. Huuuge portions, could almost share one between two people. We got the fish burg - which was stacked with fish, mine was about 15cm in height! And my friend got the beef burg, both were excellent Lovely shaded area to sit and eat as well

Google
The best fish and chips I had so far in my 4 years in New Zealand. A lot of good fish and very local recipe, nice sauce and the size is enough to feed a hungry Viking or hiker haha

Good place to crash after a long walk in the national park. Portions are quite large, so make sure you are hungry.

Ordered the Muss burger, despite originally intending to order a beef burger. It was a tasty and unique burger that had generous toppings and a good flavor! If you like seafood or shellfish, it's definitely worth trying. Prices were almost all a few dollars higher than displayed on any of the Google photos of the menu, but such is the trend throughout the world at the moment. The gentleman working there (possibly owns the business as well) was not the most helpful or warm guy, but ultimately made me a very satisfactory dinner. I was indecisive between all the delicious-looking choices, and felt rushed into a decision. I asked how much the Mussel pattie tasted like a fresh mussel (for the record: the mussel flavor was not strong or overwhelming due to lots of toppings and the patty was cooked pretty well and crispy, removing the chewy mussel texture) and how big the pattie is (it is a larger than average circumference for a burger!) and the gentleman answered in typical kiwi fashion (sarcasticslly and condescendingy but not offensively). Overall, worth a visit for the burgers. Just don't expect the warm and welcoming service ;)

Google
Kiwis seem a bit behind the curve on burgers in 2025.... you need to do more than add a slice of beetroot. However, this burger was amazing - must have been 15cm high and contained several meals worth of toppings including rice of all things.

Google
The Fat Tui is a local institution, one worthy of its stellar reputation. Andy, the owner, is a delightful fellow who welcomes all into a real community spot. The food is delicious and plentiful and the whole vibe of this road side joint is friendly and laid back. Come for the food, stay for the company.

Yelp
These burgers are insane! An absolute must-try while in the area - and much, much better than the Park Cafe nearby. These burgers are absolutely massive - you'll be lucky to finish yours! Very fairly priced and delicious fresh toppings. We really liked the Cowpat - just classic toppings you can't go wrong with. I loved their lamb burger too! My partner got the Hau and felt it was too big, too much on top, and too many flavors. Their fries were delicious, and their chicken nuggets were seriously just like McD's - but better. The owners/team cooking onsite couldn't be nicer - just truly genuine locals happy to serve. They have soda, drinks and desserts for sale in the fridges onsite too. You'll find communal picnic table seating onsite as well. Can't recommend them enough after a big day hiking Abel Tasman!

Yelp
This burger really needs 4 hands to eat it-- it is absolutely pure delicious. But first we have to set the tone. This is a food truck with bench seats outside. No alcohol allowed so the have a Heineken without and alcohol in it.. The guy who runs the place sings and he is missing most of his teeth. He never stopped smiling! The burger -- insane. Beside cheese, hamburger Patty, lettuce, tomatoes and relish, ours came with an egg, pineapple, Canadian style bacon, pickles, sliced beets and who know what else. The place was pretty busy for a 4 pm and you can see why! Just an interesting meal in a bun!

Yelp
Crazy good food. Husband's burger was so big he had to eat it with a fork. It was HUGE and he ate every bite. I had the fish and chips and seriously folks, that was the best fish and chips I've ever had. Fish was so fresh and mild and lightly breaded and crisply fried. So, so delicious. Now it is a food truck, and kind of a weird vibe with the folks at the picnic tables, so we opted to take our food back to the Lodge and enjoy it there. You won't lose weight at this joint - no health food - but after a day of hiking, it sure hit the spot!

Yelp
Located in Marahau close to the entrance of Abel Tasman National Park Fat Tui offers a variety of food truck classics. Exactly what you need after a day full of kayaking, hiking or whatever activity you choose to do. Prices are very reasonable, food is made fresh. Can't go wrong with it, but the praise is too high once again. Its good, decent food, but don't get too excited.

Yelp
An absolute shambles. There was a certain amount of amusement value from seeing orders get mixed up, lost and other general chaos, but it didn't compensate for waiting nearly two hours and getting eaten by mosquitos. This is no Fergburger.

Yelp
After a full day of kayaking and hiking, Fat Tui was a godsend. Located near the entrance to Abel Tasman National Park, Fat Tui is a semi-permanent food truck that serves burgers and fish and chips. My brother enjoyed his burger - the Cowpat ($12.80NZD) - which was essentially a cheeseburger with salad. I opted for the fish and chips (dairy-free), which were miles better than the ones I had elsewhere on the South Island. For $10NZD, you get a heaping portion of crispy beer battered fish, a healthy scoop of fries, and a lemon wedge. Add another dollar for your choice of tartare or aioli sauce. Seating is available at picnic tables under an awning, but it's just a quick walk away from local accommodations in Marahau. It's quick. It's convenient. And, it's a perfect meal after a long day traipsing through the national park.

Yelp
Huge burgers with great taste! Fries, fried mussels patty and sweet potatoes g Very good also. Only down side is wait time, if you can order and come back to pick up later.

Yelp
HUGE sandwiches that are absolutely delicious - burgers, fish and chips, fish sammies, everything is bigger than your head and packed full of flavor. They even have sweets and homemade ice cream sandwiches. Would've eaten here every single day in the Abel Tasman area if I knew about it earlier.

Yelp
SO delicious! Despite the long wait it was worth it. They made me a special vegan burger which was light but filling at the same time! The hot chips were also yummy!

Yelp
They have ridicously GOOD burgergs. Awesome place to fill your stomach and satisfy your tastebuds after a day in Tasman park. Price range for burgers is $13-17 and the the choice is great, from plain old beef patty through lamb to mussels patty. This is an art, overwhelming variation of components. Place is styled like a hipsterized foodtruck.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch after hiking in the rain in Abel Tasman. Was the best part of a long, wet day. Everything from the side salad that came with the fresh fried fish to the chocolatey brownie after (don't judge) was spot on. Options here are really great - everyone got something they loved. Everything was made with care and time because who are you kiddin' trying to rush anywhere here
