Fellows Hotel ||Loved:|- The Fellows is not in central Cambridge (Hilton does have another hotel downtown), but this place was close enough to walk to the town centre, and the walk was flat and quite lovely at times along the river. We walked down 4-5 times during our week's stay. |- We had a two-bedroom suite with an almost full kitchen (no oven), and it felt clean and modern. |- Housekeeping came daily and did a fab job. |- Noise was super low throughout our stay; we never heard anything from next door or in the corridors |- The ground-floor lobby of the hotel is lovely |- Loved the little coffee shop at the front |- The staff were always super helpful when I interacted with them|- Food was excellent to good throughout our stay – a room service burger was one of the best I have had in the UK, and it was hot! |- Loved the free laundry room in the basement – so helpful |||Challenges:|- From the outside, the hotel looks like a bad office block building, but once inside, things improve dramatically. |- No bathtubs in our rooms, which I understand, but it's hard when you're kids who are scared of a shower! |- Breakfast ends at 10:30 am. I noted the chef refusing to cook eggs while pointing at his watch – I looked, and it was 10:26 am – when I pointed this out to the waitress, she was fabulous and spoke to the chef, and eggs came out (She was tall, with glasses – really good at her job, I thought) |- The parking can be challenging. There is an underground lot (24 pounds a night), but it is not big enough to hold all the hotel's guests when the hotel is busy. I got caught twice trying to enter the parking lot (there is a barrier) when returning late to the hotel, and it was completely full. One time, I parked on a residential street, and the second time, the hotel's front desk allowed me to park in the check-in parking area at the front. For what we were paying for nightly hotel and parking, I was frustrated with this situation. Guessing if you are going to get a parking space late at night with children in the car is not fun. |- In the garage, there are a lot of electric car chargers, but I never could get them to work. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with tech support, and the poor guy just ended up saying it's a software issue that I cannot fix, I need to refer it to someone else, and there was nothing more they could do. ||There was more to love here than not, so we would return.
