The Fifth Review - Anaheim - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If it’s after 9pm, the kids are in bed, and you’re wondering if there’s anything to do outside the parks for a little bit, head immediately to The Fifth. Located on top of the Grand Legacy Hotel, this lively rooftop bar is open until midnight during the week (1am on the weekends), and is where every vacationing parent and convention attendee goes to unwind and drink red wine until they’re cut off. In other words, it’s a great time. The Harbor Blvd. location offers great views of both parks, as well as an unobstructed vantage point of the nightly fireworks - an experience only heightened by the red wine you’re drinking. If you get hungry, there’s also a menu full of solid-enough bar bites like nachos, shrimp tacos, and loaded tots." - Brant Cox

Everything was good from start to finish. I got the chicken and gf got the short rib both enjoyed. The flowerless chocolate cake was amazing. A nice place for a date and good food

My daughter’s shower was here in May and it was just perfect. Working with Katie was a breeze; she was helpful and professional throughout the entire process. My guests really enjoyed the food and the service was great. We had some food allergies and they were handled wonderfully; this is a restaurant that caters to food allergies so they really know their stuff. Location is perfect in downtown Port Jefferson, right across from the ferry. I would not hesitate to dine here or book an event.

Must say this place surprised my wife and I. Our server was named Vinny. Great server very attentive and he knew his menu pretty well. The food as you can see was super delicious. The pate in the beginning with the mini toasted bread slices was unbelievable. The strawberry lemonade was spot on. The seats are pretty small outdoor but comfortable enough to enjoy dinner and the scenery makes it easier to deal with. The wife had a delightful chicken salad. I enjoyed a superb lobster roll with some of the world's most delicious parmesan french fries. The presentation for our little celebration of not only our anniversary but also my birthday was amazing. They served us 4 cups of ice cream that was to die for. Especially the Nutella ice cream. Everything was spectacular. We look forward to returning to this restaurant for another date night. Thank you very much for the experience.

Google
Had Easter dinner/brunch with my wife and son. It was a superb experience. Have eaten here before an knew that the food is excellent. Really great menu for the Easter meal. Everything was delicious. Believe me, you get what you pay for, and this restaurant is terrific, including the staff. Highly recommended.

Google
We were there for restaurant week, so the menu options were limited. We chose the sea bass and the short ribs to share. The bass was very good, but the short ribs were smothered in a greasy sweet sauce, which was also over the mashed potatoes. When we were ready to leave, the waiter offered a box to take the leftovers home. I politely said it was not very good so not necessary. The wait staff and outdoor view was excellent. But the price without the restaurant week specials are not worth another visit.

Google
Staff from start to finish was on top of it all. Very attentive and helpful. The food was good but not what I expected for the hefty price tag. I ordered the pan seared sea bass. It was cooked very well but lacking a bit on flavor. Needed a little more depth of flavor. The chicken and asiago wontons were divine!! Would go back for sure.

Google
This is one of our favorite spots. We started with cocktails and tuna tartare on the veranda. While the flavors were excellent, the portion size was a bit meager for $17 price point. We thought we may have received the happy hour portion vs full price portion. From there, we moved to the outdoor seating for dinner. The Burrata appy was sublime- excellent flavors, eggplant accoutrements exceptional. I had the summer gnocchi-the basil cream sauce was excellent-my husband had the sea bass-also excellent. The almond cake dessert was surprisingly light and the ginger sauce added a nice kick. Service was friendly and on point. We’ll be back!

Google
I had heard stories of people raving about this place but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype. We got the ravioli bolognese which was too salty and tasted like frozen grocery store ravioli. We also ordered the filet and the burger which were just ok. Overall it was disappointing for what we were expecting.

Yelp
Everything was good from bread to the chocolate cake. Got the chicken with Brussels sprouts over mash was great. Gf got the short ribs she loved it. Chocolate flowerless cake was a treat

Yelp
This place looks popular as it is usually full. Finally checked it out last night. Ordered empanadas for the table. I did not like them. I tasted curry and I am not a fan of curry. My main dish was okay. I ordered salad with grilled chicken. Friend ordered duck. I think other appetizers might be better. Being Hispanic, I can definitely find better empanadas elsewhere. Possibly other appetizers, like their burrata, are better. The place smelled slightly and seemed a bit outdated. Service was slightly slow. But the waiters were very kind and respectful. Overall, not sure if I would come back. I think there are better options for food elsewhere.

Yelp
I'm never disappointed at fifth season. The food is always good. Wait staff on point and the ambiance is great. I sat at the bar with my friend and had a fun time. The Kobe beef sliders, salad and truffle fries were excellent. Go and enjoy!

Yelp
Outstanding. Delicious. Great location. Dinner and drinks and dessert were superb. Wait staff was fantastic!! Very polite and great balance of checking in and not interrupting the party. Can't wait to get back.

Yelp
We love coming to fifth! My family has been dining here for years. The owners are amazing, give back to the community and the food is always so delicious and fresh. They purchase a lot of their produce and meats locally which is great. The service is always wonderful and we always feel very taken care of here. We love sitting upstairs watching the sunset which is romantic ... if you have never been you need to try it!

Yelp
Service: attentive. the service was very nice and came by often. It was nice that they provided suggestions for the autumn menu. Food: Local Burrata - Good. Creamy and wonderful. I would go back and ask for more pesto to go with the dish. The fried mushroom ball was bit greasy. Squash Ravioli - Pass. The ravioli was wonderful but the sauce and shaved brussels sprouts was too overwhelming. The richness of the sauce and the stringy-ness of the sprouts took away from the experience of the ravioli. Braised Short Ribs - Best item of the night! The short ribs was so tender and the yams were so sweet! it had nice balance and great flavor. On to my next adventure...

Jon G.

Yelp
My husband and I came here last night for dinner for the first time! We are normally in Port Jefferson because this is where we keep our boat and we eat other restaurants. When we went in we were greeted right away and went upstairs to our table. We had Claire as our server who was amazing. She was friendly, very professional. The food was amazing and so was the atmosphere. We cannot wait to come back, which will be soon. Thank you, Claire for your amazing service. You go to new restaurants and you feel out of place. We thought right at home as soon as we walked in.

Yelp
We came here after for dinner after my fiance proposed. They took such good care of us and made the night truly magical. We plan to go back for our 5th wedding anniversary.

Yelp
I love Fifth Season. It's a bit pricey, but as a treat once in a while, it's great! The food is good, drinks are okay. The menu is always fresh. I brought my grandma here for Christmas last year and she loved it. I recommend it for a nice night out by the water.
google avatar

Eileen Z.

Yelp
Came to have our anniversary dinner after eating take-out from the bar and happy hour menus multiple times. Favorites include truffle fries and chickpea fritters! Good ambiance with candle and rose petals for our table, a nice touch by the staff. The dessert was also very sweet of them~ Of the items we ordered, my favorite still remains the truffle fries! Best truffle fries I've ever had and I've had a lot. The other dishes were good, but weren't as impressive or addicting. So for the price, I would just order the truffle fries again.

David S.

Yelp
The staff is very young yet polite and very helpful. My duck was served medium well instead of medium rare as requested so that sucked. But, my mother's lobster/shrimp/tomato/cream bisque was delicious. The gnocchi was good off of the prix fix menu. My cappuccino was perfect. All good overall. Oh, and the almond cake was tasty.
google avatar

Sam E.

Yelp
I do love Fifth Season for its unconventional menu. A bit pricey, sure. But as per the restaurant's name, you can come by any season and try something completely new! This week, we ended up stopping by for restaurant week. I chose the chicken strudel, vegetable stuffed polenta and almond cake for dessert. Service was quick and friendly despite the rush. And overall, the food was quite tasty. The strudel was delightfully crisp with a tender interior. The polenta was robust and hearty and the cake was the perfect finish. A bit of crisp on the outside but nice and fluffy on the inside. With that being said, the only flaw I could identify was the zoodles that came along with our entrees were very salty. But, that really could be chalked up to restaurant week antics. Overall, would definitely recommend! Maybe pass on restaurant week but definitely anytime during the year if you're a locavore looking for a special night out!

Luzmila C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Delicious food, friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. We sat outside so we were near the street and traffic was loud but that's not the restaurant's fault. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Everything went well! Delicious food great atmosphere and friendly staff!! Made an enjoyable time!

Yelp
This year would be the second year I've come to Fifth Season for my birthday celebration. The place didn't disappoint once again. Sunset views were great and the food and service enjoyable once again. Plus, the place had potato leek soup in the summer. This is a rarity - by far my favorite soup. Plus canned wine. You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes or ambiance. The dessert is to die for also. I will be returning here next year for an annual celebration.
google avatar

Frank B.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Great happy hour prices. Love the outside bar in the summer, upstairs bar is always nice.
google avatar

Rich P.

Yelp
All was great. Hanging in the bar with special martinis. Appetizers good. Entrees were great Service was attentive and fun to deal with.
google avatar

Caryn R.

Yelp
This is a restaurant that is consistently very good to excellent. I think the menu is always the same except for Restaurant week when they have the prefix. That is a great value! Parking is a little challenging because it's Port Jefferson. it's a little annoying that the dining room is upstairs in the bathrooms are downstairs. I find that this is a restaurant where you need to be very specific where you want to sit as they try to give you the worst available table when you get there. Wait staff themselves can get special orders correct and know how to time service. They can bring your drinks on time also. you will never have a bad meal here. this is a solid choice for especially evening.
google avatar

Yelp
I really wanted to give this place a better review. Nothing was wrong with this restaurant. The staff were super nice, the food was okay, the decor was okay. Everything about this was okay, not great, not good, not bad, simply "okay". I will say the restaurant itself had an older smell, could be the carpeting, the wooden building, whatever it was , it had an odor. Would I revisit ? Nah . Would I recommend ? Sure, it was an "okay restaurant ".

Phil P.

Yelp
The food is good, nice variety and reasonable prices. The entire staff is courteous and attentive. It is close to the dock, so it is easy accessible and has a nice view.

Alissa F.

Yelp
The food is average, some things okay and others we didn't like enough to finish. Not for foodies. Service was good. Ambience meh.
google avatar

Judith L J.

Yelp
This was my first time here. The day was nice and sunny. So we sat outside. Nice crowd. Ambiance appealing. While the lobster roll and fries were well seasoned, their presentation was a tad lackluster. I expected more. Parker, our waiter, was knowledgeable and not pushy.
google avatar

Jill W.

Yelp
We were invited to a party at this restaurant and we were given a nice choice . We had the fillet w/ bernaise sauce . The side was a very nice but different potato side. I think will visit this restaurant and order from their regular restaurant menu
google avatar

Cathy G.

Yelp
Didn't know what to expect - but the place is stunning! Cute and low light decor - very chic - great for a date night and special occasion. Took the guests jackets at entry if they wanted to leave it there. Had a large party outing and had an unexpected extra guest and they accommodated with no problems. The table had an assortment of entrees and drinks. I personally had the braised ribs which was great. A person in our group had a severe allergy to some food products and they were more than accommodating. The group ordered some shared desserts as well - which were all great. Overall great staff and good food. The bill was pretty decent - 75$ pre-tip. If you break it down, 30 for entree, 10 for dessert, and about 12 dollars per drink - you'll see it's actually quite reasonable!
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
Great meal!! Farm to table with some great choices. The local burrata was a great start to the meal. I opted for the Duck and was not let down. My wife had the sea bass and it was superb. Staff was great and accommodating. FYI - New York or this area now allows the restaurants to charge back for credit card use so hit an ATM first. Will be back for sure!

David W.

Yelp
Excellent food service and ambiance. It was restaurant week and the food did not disappoint. We had a great table with a view. Attentive service but not annoying if that make sense. The burrata was amazing and the beet salad was fresh and refreshing. The duck was superb. The sea bass was massive over risotto. Very filling but actually light and delicious. It's the perfect spot for a date night.
google avatar

Vincent N.

Yelp
We started by sharing a Caesar salad. I always appreciate when the kitchen plates the shared dishes separately. I had the short ribs and my wife had scallops. Both entrees were delicious. The only negative comments are minor. The music they were playing didn't go with the vibe of the place. The other was I had to ask for black pepper. Not a big thing but it's usually offered when served.
google avatar

Lori V.

Yelp
Great sit down dinner food. Great apps and drinks at the bar. Right downtown Port Jeff

Yelp
The ambiance is lovely and staff we're very attentive. We all had the 3 course price fixed meal which was excellent for the cost of $37.50. caesar salad, butternut squash ravioli, gelato.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, so the three stars hurts me a little. My wife booked a reservation for a date night and after looking at the menu the options seemed appealing. Unfortunately, it took a solid 15-20 minutes for our waitress to come over, about 30 minutes for us to get our apps, and a total of 40 minutes to get our first round of drinks which, self-explanatorily, didn't come until after the apps. Drinks were nothing fancy, a canned beer and a seasonal cocktail off the menu. The waitress was incredibly friendly, thanked us for our patience each time she came to the table, but for what appeared to be an average-volume crowd, the delays were unfortunate. The food was pretty good, though the Braised Point Judith Calamari, which boasted chorizo, pepperoncini, and spinach, among other things, didn't pack much of a flavor. The portions were disappointingly small, especially for the money. The pan seared pacific sea bass was amazing, as was the pan seared salmon. Against my better judgment, having the knowledge that I'd be slacking in the workout department the next day, I ordered the flourless chocolate cake. It was pretty awesome, though again, unanticipatedly small. The quality, preparation and presentation of the fish courses really deserve five stars, and the fish portions themselves were actually decent, but there were just too many other things weighing against it. We left full, but then again we should've after ordering two apps, two main courses, two desserts and drinks. If you have some time on your hands and looking for a place by the water at a moderate to higher price point, go for it. The food was good. Otherwise, there are several other options in the immediate area.

Yelp
Beyond amazing from the moment we made it to the top step! The greeter/host had the brightest most pleasant smile, and made us feel welcomed! The other host had such amazing energy as well, as she walked us to our table inside. We were offered options to dine inside or outside, we decided inside. They closed the doors for us to limit any noise! Every staff there was so pleasant, including our waiter! He was very patient and attentive, also a great listener. Thank you so much for the birthday surprise, you really blew her away with such a simple gesture. The establishment itself smelled ...clean! I was impressed with the overall flow of the place and establishment up keep, restrooms were clean as well. Amazing food! It's obvious the chef is cooking things fresh! Made to order, even the desserts! That sweet corn purée is everything! The bass taste ever so light and flakey, with just the right amount of body and seasoning for an awesome bite, every bite. The whole dinner felt healthy, even the fried clams. No guilt eating their fried clams at all! The vegetarian plate was well seasoned, tender, and packed great flavor over all for just a plate of vegetable's! Most certainly the spot to have a small celebration with awesome energy. The staff really makes it more than what you'll ever see in reviews! They are amazing and so welcoming. The food is phenomenal! I wish I remembered the gentleman name who took care of us, but you are truly appreciated and forever remembered during this amazing experience. I highly recommend this restaurant! I would drive the hour trip again just to visit this lovely place again.

Dee B.

Yelp
The food was amazing! We got the Filet Mignon and Duck entries. They were both perfectly cooked and seasoned. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable and timely. Can't wait to go back!

Andrew C.

Yelp
We went here last week for our anniversary dinner and was very impressed. Our waiter Aaron was very attentive. My wife ordered the sea bass special and it was well worth it. Excellent appetizers ascwrll. For my main course I had the duck. I haven't had it in a long time and glad I ordered it. Really enjoyed chocolate gelato, toasted almond cake and lava cake for desert.
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
My wife and I visited for a date night and were not disappointed. The service was present but not overbearing. The atmosphere was great, and, important to me, the tables were not jammed into the restaurant. There was plenty of space, and you didn't feel like you were in a sardine can. And, finally, the food. The food was amazing. We are very excited to come back in the spring when the menu changes - not because what we had was bad, but we're excited to see what changes! Well done!

Keith K.

Yelp
Average food, at premium prices. Ordered the lobster roll special, and was literally 2 bites for $34. My wife ordered the short ribs with polenta, which lacked flavor. The service is ok. Basically on the level of a local diner, but double the price because it's Port Jeff.

Nick G.

Yelp
Had a great meal and the service was just as good!! A well oiled machine fast attentive service and very nice!! We sat upstairs with a water view and it was great!! The duck was excellent as was the fried clams and short ribs ... prices were fair and menu offered different options and plenty of them ... they could use more soups maybe chowders...great dessert menu too they even celebrated our special occasion for us nice and classy .... Definitely the best place in port Jeff we will be back

Jeanne C.

Yelp
The food is consistently delicious and service is accommodating and pleasant. The vibe is casual but sophisticated. I found the pricing to be reasonable for the location, menu, service and ambiance.
google avatar

Cher Y.

Yelp
We had a private pilot dinner tonight here. Every dish was a knockout. Definitely will go back for the filet mignon without butter though
google avatar

Caity G.

Yelp
I will keep this to the point, because sometimes with reviews, the less words, the more people will read them: I come here often, different seasons, different menus, different occasions. And I usually order something different each time. I've never had anything that wasn't absolutely outstanding. Their service is never less than wonderful. Recommend making a reservation, particularly in summer months.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
This is my first time here tonight, while it was the second time for my wife. When she last came with a friend, she was pleased with her meal and the price fixe option. For tonight my wife ordered off the price fixe menu $35 and gotten the Caesar's salad for appetizer then the sea bass for entree. She enjoyed the sea bass and ate it all to the last bite. It did look quite visually pleasing. For dessert, she chose the almond cake. I had just the kobe burger for $18 with fries on the side. I had asked for medium and when it was brought out, it was definitely on the medium rare side. I flagged the waiter who brought it back. I was a bit surprised that they just reheated it but gave me new buns and veggie topping and also new fries. If they go through all that trouble, why couldn't they just cook a new patty instead of reheating the old one that someone had taken a bite or two. I didn't get that at all. After the refry, it was a tad better but still not a perfect medium. I gave up then. My son had the salmon dish which he enjoyed the actual fish itself but felt the coconut bits was just alright. All in all, I expected a lot more from this place and was disappointed at the cook quality and wished the waiter checked on us more often. He was very polite when he did, but wish he came by more often. Based off tonight's visit, I give me so so 3 stars only.

Yelp
Celebrated our anniversary at the Fifth Season in Port Jefferson. Awesome place, service was great! Thnx to Maggie our bartender who made us very delicious cocktails. Our waiter Vinny very professional & friendly. We enjoyed our evening. Many thanks to the staff at the Fifth Season!!!

Yelp
It may be Covid, but we eat out and travel a LOT. So when hubby said he had to take the Bridgeport-Jefferson Ferry, I got busy finding him an affordable take-out for his trip back home to CT. On his first try, it was a Monday and they were closed. Second try it was raining and parking is a zoo so he didn't go. When he finally meshed schedule and opening times, he didn't follow my suggestion and get his favorite green--arugula, with the beets and goat cheese, of course, for $11.50. Instead, I guess he was hungry, and that may have been part of the problem, he ordered the pan-roasted duck confit with sauteed Swiss chard for $29. He gets really picky at $29. He found the take-out spare, the confit good, but the chard soggy, and the packaging less than. So, on the week that I decided to join him on one of his long-term assignments, we stopped back in for the beet and arugula salad. They were actually pretty good, a good value, with a crusted-fried goat cheese and a pile of toasts (I guess for croutons) in a separate container. All was well, enough for me to up from 3 to 4 stars-- but, it's really more of a 3.5. They were busy, and I see others like it a lot. Not sure I can get a 3rd try from hub. We haven't dined in, so all we know is the take-out scene here. If we do try it again, we'll consider the dine in.

Donna T.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants! Every course offers great choices. Our daughter is vegan and there is always one or 2 options available for her, as well. The fish and meat are always accompanied by flavorful, interesting vegetables and starches. The wine options are plentiful. The decor is both attractive and comfortable with tables distanced for personal space. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and well established. Really nice dining experience.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
The food here was delicious, the service was great, nice view of Port Jefferson Marina and town. Great ambiance! My wife got the pumpkin martini, which helped her tolerate me more - 5-stars!

Yelp
What an unexpected great find in Port Jefferson, NY! I found this place on a whim looking for a happy hour. Ironically it was across the street from my hotel the Danford Marina. We sat upstairs in the bar/lounge area to participate in the happy hour. It runs Tuesday-Friday 4-7 & all day on Thursdays. Our lucky day it was a Thursday. We shared the Kobe beef sliders, Ahi Tuna Tartar, chicken spring rolls, & plum tomato, mozzarella & eggplant flatbread. For dessert had a mouth watering delicious crème brûlée. They had several drink choices on the happy hour menu from beer, wine, & cocktails. The Pinot Noir was good but the house Cabernet was excellent. Although it was busy our bartender Gideon was excellent. He was attentive to our needs & despite how busy it was he took his time & answered all our questions about the menu! I can't wait to return & order off the dinner menu. Food, service, & overall experience was excellent! You can also see a gorgeous sunset on the marina from the bar/lounge area. That alone was worth the visit!

Mia F.

Yelp
Great food and ambience. Always great service as well. Lunch time is my favorite time to sit outside in the nicer weather.
google avatar

Dee P.

Yelp
Went with my girlfriends as per one of their suggestions. So happy we did! The weather was beautiful and we got to sit outside. Although the patio was full, our waitress was so sweet and never made us feel rushed. We got the calamari and beet salad as per her (can't remember if her name was Diana or Diane?) suggestion. The calamari was "braised" which is different than I've ever had before and it was so delicious! Seabass was very good and the chocolate cake was so decadent. Drinks were strong and yet tasty. My friend has dietary restrictions and our waitress made sure everything she ordered was safe for her to eat. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Excellent Cantonese Dim Sim among all Cantonese Restaurants in Flushing! The quality of food is comparable to those Dim Sim restaurants in Hong Kong! Fresh seafoods dishes with excellent taste during the weekend! Small parking lot in the back! Will try their Banqut foods next time! Nov. 7, 2023

Yelp
Full disclosure, the restaurant's owner/chef is a second cousin. That said, have been wanting to dine here for years and finally had the chance now I'm living back on the east coast. Started with the cheese and charcuterie plates. Could have stopped here, the blue veined goat cheese (from NC) was killer, the chicken terrine with apricots and pate were delicious. Our group did order five different entrees, standouts were the sautéed scallops and Barramundi fish. The vegetarian dish I ordered was fantastic, a sweet potato pupusa with guinoa, beans and cotija cheese. I appreciated that our server directed us towards the more seasonal dishes. Dishes were simple, full flavored and well executed. Compared to what seemed like a lot of super casual fast food restaurants in Port Jeff, Fifth Season is a great place to eat if you're looking for a combination of relaxed yet sophisticated.
