Came in for lunch on a hot Saturday. The service was excellent; our server had great suggestions on drinks and lunch options. We appreciated the details added on the Gluten-Free menu, and how many options there were. We decided on the Rum Punch (best I've ever had) and Watermelon Mojito, plus an omelet for my husband and the Mediterranean Frittata for me. The flavors were great, and portion sizes were very generous, especially given the reasonable prices. The only drawbacks were that the potatoes served with the omelet were a little overcooked, and we thought it was an interesting choice to use sliced link sausage as a filling in the omelet (we were expecting ground). Not bad, just unexpected. But it was a very satisfying experience and we look forward to a return trip when in town.

This is a lovely brewery-style restaurant that serves breakfast lunch and dinner. I had invited others and they recommended this location. The parking appeared a little sketchy as it was closer to downtown York. There were many individuals present and it was busy at 1 p.m., with people moseying around the area; however, it seemed safer the more we walked. We did need reservations that had been made. There was no need to wait as our party had already arrived. Our waitstaff was painstakingly patient with us and had an incredible attitude. The food was great and was aesthetically attractive in its presentation. We spent approximately four hours, and I truly enjoyed everything that they served, the restrooms were sanitary, and our waitstaff was fabulous. One individual at our party had mimosas, and they presented four different glasses on a wooden board - lovely presentation! I would highly recommend Fig and Barrel, and I look forward to seeing them again.

We had a great Tuesday night date night here! The poutine tots were incredible. Our drinks were the best cocktails we’ve had out (we’ve tried a lot of cockatils)! Great place for espresso martinis and fun old fashioned flavors. Highly recommend the Pear & Gorgonzola salad with chicken & the Chorizo Risotto. I hope the Salted Lavender Mocha Espresso Martini stays on their menu forever!! Super cozy place! We will be back!!

Have been here a few times for drinks at the bar. First time dining and it was great. The service was spectacular. We had the mac & cheese and pierogi appetizers. They were both great. For entree we got the fried chicken breast and salmon. Both were good.

Went here today for our anniversary brunch from a recommendation of a friend. It surely did not disappoint! From the time we entered the restaurant to the time we left, we were treated amazingly. Our server Brittany was phenomenal! She knew it was our anniversary and, without hesitation, when asked to take our picture, set us up with photo props in front of the fireplace. We had a nice chat with her, and she even brought us out dessert with a candle to celebrate. Oh, and let's not forget the $1 mimosas!! Our food was amazing! Hubby ordered steak and eggs, and I ordered the orange infused french toast, and both dishes were delightful. We made reservations, which I suggest, although they are not mandatory. There was a nice crowd for Sunday afternoon. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you!

Google
Went to Fig & Barrel last night, first time for dinner. It was excellent. I want to go back over and over again to try everything on the menu. The staff was incredibly attentive and ensured we had what we needed in order to make the 7:30 show at the Appell Center. The cocktails were fantastic, the pizzas to die for, the atmosphere was lively and beautiful. I highly recommend F&B for lunch or dinner!

Google
Food was delicious and the pricing was very fair. Good selection of beers. You’ll definitely want reservations. We sat at the bar because all the seats were taken.

Google
Top tier whiskey bar lots of different old fashions and other specialty cocktails. Excellent menu great food. One of the best pizzas I've ever had and I'm from New Jersey so my standards are quite high.

Yelp
Fig & Barrel really impressed us with both their service and atmosphere. We were seated outside, but when it started to rain, the staff quickly and politely moved us inside. The transition was smooth and handled with care, which made a great impression. Even better, they made a cocktail for me called the Gin Whisper. It wasn't on the menu and they hadn't made it before, but they took the request and absolutely nailed it. The drink was perfectly balanced, refreshing, and one of the best gin cocktails I've had in a long time. The combination of attentive service and creativity behind the bar made this a memorable visit. We're already looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Food and drinks were good, the atmosphere though is what made us go back again a second time the same day! Such a cool place to eat or to just have a drink. Came here for drinks before a show and came back after the show to eat a late dinner. Our server was amazing, the place was full but he checked on us quite often. My husband wants to go back asap!

Yelp
This was my first time to Fig & Barrel and I absolutely loved it!!! My daughter asked me to meet her there for a lunch date and I'm so glad we did!!! Just love the vibe, casual and cozy! I believe our server's name was Kyle, he provided us with such great service!!! Answered all of my questions about the menu and allowed me to add a few things to my pizza to create my own. Kyle was very attentive and so nice to talk to!!! Our food was absolutely delicious! I would love to go back on a Friday or Saturday evening, it was recommended to have reservations on those evenings. If you are a whisky/bourbon lover, they have over 200 selections, they also have a cocktail and wine list. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Stopped in while we were in the area and heard this was a great place for a late bite and cocktail. The service started off great but then took a turn and it took 10 mins to get water and close our tab. It did get busy but there were only 2 people working the bar. We had slices of pizza that were good. I would definitely give then another try because the vibe seemed cool.

Yelp
Fun bar, first time having drinks only here. bartender made me a pretty smooth old fashion and my hubby got a Pineapple upside down drink that was also pretty tasty. Would love to go back and try the food they have to offer Great service

Yelp
We loved it at Fig & Barrel! We were walking by and our eye was immediately drawn to the skeletons in the window. Haha. We had to stop in. This place was great! It's beautifully decorated and upscale. Our bartender, Tom, was the best! He was so friendly and funny. We ordered a charcuterie board because that's my favorite and makes me happy. We also split some wings. Our cocktails were beautiful and delicious! I can't want to come back!

Yelp
Stopped in the other night for dinner and drinks with a friend. Our waitress was extremely nice and checked in on us several time. The liquor bible is ridiculous, there is so many choices to choose from. I settled on the Root Beer Old Fashioned and it was great. For dinner I got the loaded crab tots and the Homestyle Chicken which were both good.

Trish W.

Yelp
Lunch service was slow despite only 3 tables being filled. My husband watched them heat up his jambalaya in the microwave before serving. He said it tasted ok. We both ordered the tuna Niçoise salad for our entree. Unfortunately the salad served did not match the menu description. I couldn't eat some of the toppings due to food allergies. The boiled potatoes were brown and slimy, and it did not come with the dressing. They did not charge us, however we did not have time to order something else. I left without eating. We will not be returning!

Yelp
We chose this spot for a date night. We sat at the bar and the tall shelves with a sliding ladder was a unique and fun experience. The pretzel and beer cheese was delicious. The pretzel was soft and the unique beer cheese was flavorful. We ordered the pork loin which looked and tasted more like ham and not a true loin. But it was still really good. Potatoes and green beans were very tasty also. We ordered Old Fashioned's which were made correctly and very good. The Beignet's with special whip were a delightful. We will go back!

Tavin V.

Yelp
Food was really bland and had to add seasoning to every dish. Waiter seemed visibly intoxicated and service seemed clumsy, we asked to see a dessert menu and never received any. On top of it all the waiter put their fingers on an open straw after drinking it. Never coming here again.

Bob K.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Friendly service! Really impressive selection of whiskey and bourbons. Sit at the bar and admire the 15' x 30' wall of alcohol. They do flights of whiskey!

Yelp
Amazing place, stopped in over lunch on Presidents' Day after a swim meet. The owner is hard working and seated us got us drinks and took our order. Food was awesome, tomato basil soup was fire, the tots were on point.

Yelp
We celebrated my husband's birthday with an ultra rare, kid free date night. We've stopped in for drinks in the past so we decided to come in for a late dinner. Eric was very prompt and knowledgeable of both the drink menu and food menu. The cocktails were fabulous and I was so blown away by the chorizo and pale ale risotto. We hung out for about two hours and even though Eric was visibly busy between tables and preparing cocktails for guests, we never felt rushed or neglected. We are looking forward to stopping in for our next date night in approx 358271 business days.

Yelp
The bacon mac and cheese was great but not the best. It's very filling so the small plate is more than enough. The chicken ceasar salad was watery and needed more dressing. The chicken however was fantastic. Service was slow but the waiter was great and full of character. Half off small plates 5-6 P.M.

Yelp
This place was beautiful, lovely for a nice date night out. Parking was a bit difficult, but nothing you can't handle. The service was excellent, no complaints. The food was delicious, especially their tomato soup. The sandwich bread was toasted perfectly, the pizza crust was nice and thick, and it all tasted great. My only complaint is the prices. Plan on spending a decent amount of money if you come here. The drinks were especially high in price, so either save the drinking for after you leave or plan to drink before dinner. Otherwise, we had a very nice experience.

Yelp
We had a Local Flavor and heard good things about this place. We looked at the menu and saw several items that sounded delicious and were excited to try. The website indicated that they served brunch on Sunday. So we drive to York on a Saturday in the pouring rain, find parking, and go in. It's about 1:30 pm. It took several minutes to have a drink order taken at the bar as the bartender didn't really seem to feel any sense of urgency. But it was worth the wait, as my drink was outstanding! We were given menus. They were brunch menus. On a Saturday. We asked for dinner menus and were told "it has to be brunch right now. They're not set up for dinner yet." When asked when they might be ready to serve dinner we were told it would be about 4:00 pm. Now we are in a position where we drove 30 miles in the pouring rain expecting to have a yummy dinner, only to be left staring at a menu loaded with eggs, burgers, grilled cheese, and salads. We don't have time to drive all the way home and go elsewhere, so we had to eat there. Hubby had the Huevos Rancheros, and I had a burger. Hubby loved his, but I was incredibly disappointed with my burger. It was so dry and flavorless. The cheese appeared to be right out of a plastic wrapper. I honestly think this was one of the worst, if not THE worst burger I've ever had. I wanted to love this place. I really, really did. But most everything was completely disappointing, from the unavailability of anything we really wanted to eat, to being essentially forced to choose between eggs, grilled cheese, and a salad that I could get anywhere close to home without driving 30 miles in the pouring rain, to my burger being so bad I only ate half of it. Just so, so disappointed. One extra star for the amazing drink.

Yelp
We were passing through York, and decided to stop by for a bite to eat because it was getting late. And this place did not disappoint. To begin with, they have an in-house brick oven used for pizza and other dishes. So we had to try out their pizza. It was crispy and delicious. Their menu was fairly diverse as it offers hand held and traditional entrees as well. Also had to point out their Tomato Soup was outstanding, with it's rich and complex taste profile. Bartenders and waiting staff were friendly and helpful. A wide variety of cocktail drinks and beers were available as well. Crowd was lively, as it tend to be busy over the weekend. So if you're in York or surrounding area, stop on by to give it a try.

Yelp
I am really glad I came into the Fig and Barrel. Drinks were great, food was amazing, staff were all super friendly. Ended up staying a lot longer than I planned just chatting with Summer, the bartender for the night. She made an amazing smoked old fashioned, nice and smooth. Crab dip tots and the fig and pig pizza for starters and entree, both amazing. Got a chance to ask the owners some questions about their food, will definitely be back to try some other items. I was not in at a as busy time but I can see how the place could get loud if packed which is the norm on weekends from what I understand. Will be back!

Yelp
I haven't the slightest idea why this place has less than four stars. my wife and I rotate through here on occasional happy hour or date nights and we've never had a bad experience. Staff is always been friendly and tables are always ready when we make reservations. People have posted so many pictures about the food and it's delicious. Review those photos.

Kurt N.

Yelp
I'm not certain precisely why this place gets mediocre ratings compared to others in York, but my wife and I went in hoping for the best and prepared for the worst. The front reception staff were, I must admit, less than wholly friendly; more aloof than unpleasant in that Hipster way that vaguely suggests that you must be at least this cool to ride this ride...and the clown's hand is above your head. This unfortunate initial impression was then completely reversed by the waiter/bartender/host, Charlie, who seemed to do a little of everything and should be voted as president of the place, if not some sort of at least lesser deity. Seriously...the dude could sell popsicles to penguins. It doesn't hurt that the food was delicious. The Autumn Grill Cheese (or something like that) might have been one of the best that I've ever had, and I'm no stranger to the sandwich (is anybody? I don't want to meet them). My wife's pizza was equally amazing, just great, interesting flavors, well prepared. Same, same for the drinks. The Old Fashioned was great as was the Salted Caramel Apple Martini that my wife had. Overall, I'd definitely recommend that you give this place a try. The food and drinks were great, the place itself is warm and inviting. We were seated despite not having a reservation and were fed promptly and well. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars was the light judginess that we received when we arrived... Knew I should have worn a fedora.

Tim S.

Yelp
Great place to have a beer and some food, or even Brunch. Nice location and great atmosphere. Staff was great as was the food. Would definitely eat there again.

Yelp
Food and service were awesome. I would tecommend this restaurant to anyone. When our friends come in from Pittsburgh we will bring them there.

Yelp
The food here was awesome! A really nice variety of sweet and savory and choices depending on if you wanted something more like breakfast or a lunch meal. I ordered the chia pudding as an appetizer and it was delicious and the presentation was awesome, I loved the raspberries + blueberries in it, 10/10 texture balance between soft and chewy (dried fruit)! For my main plate I ordered the veggie pizza since I don't have dairy and it was good, the crust was awesome and I loved the vegan pesto. The servers were really friendly and the setting was really chill, my family and I played uno while waiting for our food which didn't take a long time to come out at all. For coming here from out of state for a tournament, I'll definitely be asking come back if we have a tournament again in York!

Yelp
My friend and I came for (attempted) drinks & dinner. With very few patrons in the restaurant, we sat down at approximately 6:15, where we our waiter walked by us three times each time saying "I'll be right with you ladies" & would clean up a table or begin talking to another table without offering us drinks. When he finally came over to us it was already 6:30 and we put in our drinks and appetizers (mac and cheese & brussel sprouts) our appetizers didn't come out until after 7 in which an individual patron had got his before us even though we were there a good 10-15 minutes before him. Our server continued to walk by us when we finally flagged him down and said can we please order our food. Pushing 7:45 our Caesar salad and sandwich (all that we ordered) was still not out and other people were getting their appetizers. He said our food would be right out as he walked by and then at 7:55 we still did not have food so we just asked for our checks as we needed to get home. He then messed the checks up and never apologized nor comped anything. When he brought our cards back he casually said "Sorry for that mishap, girls" which made me irritated because I am not sure what was a mishap? You never checked on our food and there was a lack of urgency. It took 2 hours for a salad and you couldn't even offer a sincere apology or bring us anything in the meantime? I won't be dining here again.

Yelp
Such a fun vibe to go to for brunch. I would come here ready to drink next time! They have bottomless mimosas and some yummy shots like snickers and green tea! I just got a mango mimosa which was good, but a little too sweet. Also, there was not enough alcohol in it for me:D We ordered the banana pancakes. They were good. The pancakes were fluffy and the banana sauce was perfectly sweet. We also ordered the duck grilled cheese. It was good! I loved the combination of all the cheese! I'm not a blue cheese fan, but it was a really good combo with the duck! All in all a great spot for food and drinks!

Yelp
Since you can't give half stars, I rounded up for them rather than down. My thought process is probably 3.5 stars. Definitely better than MEH, but not in the "very good" category either. Some of the reviews online mention the service and lack thereof. I knew that going in, but tried not to let it jade me. However, my first impression was the same. We were seated promptly at our reservation time, but then left alone for a solid 15 minutes before anyone came over. By that point we were more than ready to order our drinks which we did. Another 10 minutes go by and no drinks. The waitress comes back and asked if we would like an appetizer. We decide it's probably a good idea to order while she's at the table and we have her attention, so we did. We also asked about our drinks. Another 10 minutes later, the appetizer comes out and still no drinks. The waitress seemed a little upset that we inquired about our drinks again (which magically appeared after our second inquiry). We ended up getting a pizza for the table as an appetizer, which was perfect. The perfect amount, and honestly very good. We got the fig and pig. In fairness, our drinks were well-made, can't say worth the wait, because they were not special, but at least they weren't wrong or bad after all that time. The entrées were a mixed bag. One person got the risotto, which was tasty, but very salty. Another got one of the burgers, I don't remember which one, but it ended up being the best entree at the table. One other person got the salmon, the sides of the salmon were green beans and tomatoes, which ended up being the hit of the dish. The salmon was flavorless. Lastly, I rounded out the table with the Gorgonzola gnocchi. Interesting dish, well-made and tasty. However, you have to be in love, I mean, infatuated with blue cheese/Gorgonzola or else you won't like this dish after three bites. It is very rich, very heavy Gorgonzola flavor. I ate it all because I do adore blue cheese, but it was even a bit much for me. Overall, food is OK. Service team seems to be indifferent. Cocktails are also better than average, but nothing special for the speakeasy type vibe it tries to be. Overall this place kind of falls in the middle for me.

Yelp
We stopped in for brunch around 1:40 on a Saturday afternoon and were promptly seated. We felt bad for our server as she was the only one there and was constantly on the move and making sure to check in with all the diners. She did a great job all things considered. The reason for a 3 instead of a 4 star were the following reasons. The complete lack of coffee or tea. It's a bit odd to advertise brunch till 3 but to run out of both beverage options. Also the woman's washroom was out of soap which felt icky. The food was pretty good. The frittata was light and good served with a salad and the pancakes were humongous in portion size.

Yelp
I have been here numerous times, and whenever I have guests come to York, this is a go-to place. They have an amazing Bourbon selection and a great happy hour. Charlie is a man of many talents, and his energy and knowledge are top-notch. If you come here, ask for him!

Yelp
Stop by on a Saturday afternoon for a drink and a snack. Our bartender Rita was wonderful she made me a ginger beer with bourbon and peach - it was deeelicious!! She also made me a taste of the hibiscus margarita which was also very good and very nice of her to do. We had the duck grilled cheese with tator tots and tomatoes soup. The grilled cheese ant tots were outstanding the soup was ok. Love the atmosphere and friendly service.

Dalyn H.

Yelp
Food service and beverage. Great setting. Loved my duck confit grilled cheese. And they know how to cook a NY strip Nice for a date night.

Yelp
We were so pleased with our meal on our first visit, we came back the next day. What a find! Our first meal started with the 3 cheese pierogis - they were so nicely made and the toppings of roasted onions, peppers and bacon left us wanting more. We shared two of the pizzas - one with duck confit and the other with fig and prosciutto. We could watch them being slid into the wood-fired oven and they did not disappoint. Almost more pleasing were our drinks - it's fairly rare to find a Sazerac on the menu and well, yum! Sean P. was our server and he made us feel right at home. With that happy meal under our belts, we came back the next day. We shared the crabby tots - perfectly and satisfyingly crunchy. But the real winner was the house-braised short ribs and garlic mashed potatoes. This was a 'melt in the mouth' meal that was swoon worthy. Liv W., our server, had a real knack for timing - we weren't rushed at all and could take our time savoring each bite. Lemon cake and apple crisp, our desserts, were some tasty - and we waddled right out the door. Seriously, the food, service, and ambiance we experienced at Fig and Barrel can easily be compared to a restaurant in any large city. The folks in York are lucky indeed. We'll be back!

S G.

Yelp
Great ambience. Fun, open kitchen groove. The last time I was there, they were swamped and the server did a good job of checking in and keeping up. One caveat - many things tasted of their signature mustard. It's good, but not needed on everything and not in such quantities. Quite overpowering. I'll be back for the tots, though. They were great!

Judith S.

Yelp
Amazing food and cocktails! This was my favorite meal on our trip to York! I love that they offer a seasonal menu for both. I wish we lived closer. I would visit F&B regularly.

Mae F.

Yelp
I had brunch here yesterday with a friend. The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown York, with plenty of parking options nearby. I opted to park in an open lot less than two blocks from the restaurant. I called the day before to make a reservation for my two people at 10am. There was only one other party waiting to enter the restaurant when I arrived at around 9:58am on Sunday. We were quickly seated in a booth toward the back of the restaurant. The restaurant's decor offered a rich and masculine vibe with ample tufted booths, exposed brick walls, and warm industrial shaded pendant lights. Our server immediately took our drink orders and accommodated my friend's request for iced coffee. I went with water and cranberry juice, while my friend opted for water, cranberry juice, and iced coffee. For my entree, I selected the orange infused french toast with maple syrup and a side of bacon, while my friend chose the blueberry pancakes with maple syrup and a side of potatoes. We both enjoyed our food, but did not find it to be absolutely amazing. The service was okay, as our server made sure to check in every so often to ensure that we were okay and enjoying ourselves, however, we ended up waiting probably 40 minutes for our food, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The total for my portion of the meal came to around $30.00 including a 20% tip. I plan to return in the future to try their lunch and dinner offerings.

Yelp
First time trying Fig & Barrel but wont be last! So glad it was advertised in the Clipper Magazine, otherwise I would not have known about it. Everything was wonderful from the time we walked in to leaving. Service was very good, all were very friendly. Lou was our server & he was very attentive & informative. The app, drinks & meal were all delicious! Cant wait to go back!!

Yelp
Stopped by Thursday night. It was so much fun! place was crowded, young group playing music, and food was great. Waiters and waitresses were hustling to keep up with the crowd but were attentive and not annoying. The pear salad was huge and sooo delicious. The crab tater tots were hot and yummy. We had 3 different grilled cheese sandwiches and all were delicious. Nice to have the tots instead of the usual French fries. The medium burger was cooked perfectly! The homemade tomato soup was good too. Can't wait to try the pizza next time!

Yelp
We love it at Fig & Barrel!! Great food, great drinks and Charlie is the best!! The happy hour specials are plenty and the standard menu gives you the choice of a sandwich, pizza or full dish!

Leo P.

Yelp
The night time bartender Sean was professional and the service was a reminder on why Id plan to come back for another night of drinks. A clean ascetic and interesting entertainment out front I definitely would recommend coming to see what they have going on. Over all drink was just the right about of alc to where I'd have a good time but enough mixed to make sure I did it hate it. Overall I would come again and suggest you do the same.

Yelp
Ideal location for social distancing on warm summer nights in the age of COVID-19. Tables are set up outside for "patio" dining aka sidewalk dining. There appeared to be limited indoor seating, but I didn't really notice since I only went inside to use the bathroom and I was in the midst of browning out. Luckily, I have pictures of the food to jostle my memory. And as I recall, it was all quite good. Went out with two friends. We all got small plates/apps. I went with the pierogies stuffed with potato, cheddar, Gruyere & Gouda over cheese sauce then topped with sauteed peppers & onions, bacon and sriracha sour cream. Pierogies are one of the more denser foods. Like a neutron star. Small, but filling. This definitely filled me up. Lots going on in this dish, but everything came together nicely. Buddy #1 went with the wings. Said they were good. Buddy #2 got the tots. Said they were good. Who am I to question them? Food was on point. Server was a kind gentleman. Checked on us frequently, but not too frequently, if you know what I mean. Brought out an ash tray for me, because I smoke when I drink. It's gross. I need to quit. During my visit, I missed something on the menu, and I'm still kicking myself for it. Looking at the menu online now, three things stick out to me: tater tots (three variations), pizza (11 variations), and grilled cheese sandwiches (five variations). I LOVE grilled cheese sandwiches. And yes, they serve tomato soup. Wood Fire Roasted Tomato Bisque, to be exact. I know it was like 90 degrees that night, but had I noticed the grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu, I would have totally ordered one. And the tomato soup for dipping. Such an underrated sandwich. Best of all, the classic version (American & cheddar between two perfectly toasted pieces of house baked sourdough bread) goes for only $6. Really enjoyable experience here overall. Next time I'm in York, I'm going to do everything I can to stop by Fig and Barrel.

Yelp
Delicious brunch. We wanted something special for drinks. The waitress suggested the hibiscus margarita. It was delicious. Just the right "kick" to it and the brown sugar rim is yummy touch. We had banana foster pancakes. Psncskes were light, done just right. The banana foster topping wasn't too sweet. Great experience.

Yelp
You know five years ago, if I had to make a list of impossible things that could never happen... A restaurant in York, Pennsylvania blowing my mind by providing me with one of the better meals I've had in 2021, would be right at the top of the list. Nicely styled, friendly casual staff, the wings were amongst the best I've had, the menu was small but interesting, everything well-executed. Seriously, this place would have a shot at making it in my hypercompetitive restaurant landscape in Hollywood/West Hollywood, California... which I've said of exactly zero other restaurants I've been to in the area. Credit where credit is due, I actually look forward to returning to Fig & Barrel when I next visit York, which I've historically looked down upon, culinarily. Really cute little gastropub that just does a whole lot right!

Yelp
I really wanted to fall in love with Fig & Barrel. I have admired the gorgeous Art Nouveau sculpted windows and the gorgeous gas lamp. If my review were based solely on appearances, it would be 5 stars +. The place is beautiful, with a cool, industrial chic vibe and floor-to-(high)-ceiling bar with a library ladder and gorgeous high-backs pale blue leather banquettes. Also in their favor was an impeccable staff and service. That's why it makes me so sad that dinner was disappointing. After a short wait, my husband and I were seated in a tight booth. It was a little uncomfortable but I had a great view of the wood burning oven. We started with buffalo wings, which arrived quickly, hot, crispy and flavorful, if a little fry for my preferences. I like my wings to swim in saucy goodness. The accompanying blue cheese dressing was incredible. I could have licked the bowl. After that, things went downhill. I ordered the Butcher's Cut or some such changing beef entrée. On that night it was a house dry aged NY Strip- my favorite cut- served with some kind of bourbon glaze, roasted red potatoes and Brussels sprouts. I ordered the steak medium rare, which, in my mind, is a warm red center. It took a long time to receive our entrees, and to be fair, it was a busy Friday night but people who were seated after us received their food first. The steak arrived cold, and very rare inside, like purple and very wet, like sashimi. It was also pretty gristly, with a tough piece of silverskin running through the middle. I suppose I could have sent it back but we'd already waited quite a while. The roasted potatoes were just done with no browning or crispiness to them at all. They were only redeemed by getting some of the steak sauce on them to make them palatable. My Brussels sprouts were fairly blackened. That's how I like them but someone else might have been unhappy with the burnt edges. The mix of mushrooms that topped the steak were the best part. I was unhappy with my meal considering it was one of the most expensive entrees available. After seeing that pizza oven and seeing pizzas walked past me, I wish I had ordered one of those. My husband had the Crab Devonshire sandwich- lump crab and bacon under melted cheese on sourdough, served with tots, which he had poutine style. I had entrée envy and tasted a few bites of his meal and while you can't go wrong with crab, bacon and cheese, it was just a little lackluster. The tots were the best part of his meal. We wrapped up with an apple crisp to share. The server made kind of a big deal that the crisp wasn't made of oats, which I thought was a little weird. The dessert came in a little cast iron skillet and looked so cute. The topping on the apples was a little strange and wet. Like not crispy at all, but it tasted good, with a strong gingeriness to it. The apples were a little underdone. Having enough ice cream to add to each bite made it enjoyable. I feel bad that we didn't enjoy our experience as much as we wanted to. Our server was great and the place is beautiful but that couldn't make up for the food.

Yelp
Saw a mouse running around and the bartender was incredibly rude better to give your business elsewhere

Yelp
My friend and I were looking for a whiskey bar after dinner and found this place from it's great reviews here. It was quite busy when we got there but it was still around dinner time on a Saturday. We seemed to have arrive just as the rush was dying down and got a spot at the bar after only about five minutes or so. The bartenders are nice and they have some very good specialty drinks. Since it's the holiday season it's extra cozy and I love the ambiance. I wish I had tried the food here as well since I've heard such good things but I'll have to keep this on my list for next time.

Yelp
We stopped into Fig & Barrel as out-of-towners in York for a wedding that weekend. It happened to be First Friday so things were really poppin! We were able to grab two seats in front of the fire place in leather wingback chairs- what a catch! It was a busy bar scene but we never had a problem getting a drink. We ordered two apps and they came out fast. There were some obnoxious patrons coming in to take kamikaze shots (at a whisky bar?!) but certainly not the establishment's fault. I thought their pizza was awesome- great crust. We were excited with their whisky selection and were pleasantly surprised by their prices (we're from DC so obviously a different scene). We plan to come back to try their brunch next visit! Great food and a good atmosphere.

Yelp
I would recommend Fig and Barrel to anyone in York or passing through! Nathan and Lisa are incredibly kind and accommodating! We were looking for somewhere to gather with our wedding guests the night before the big day and Nathan and Lisa didn't hesitate to extend us a warm welcome. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience, sectioning off an area for us and even gathering extra staff to make sure we didn't have to wait long for food and drink. My husband and I live in the DC area so we are used to lots of red tape to make large gatherings happen. You will find nothing but an open door and gracious smile at Fig and Barrel. We didn't try the food because we met up with guests after our rehearsal dinner but they had great drinks, super fun shooters, and one of the only late night menus we found available in York! Thank you Nathan and Lisa for your kind hospitality.

Yelp
Fig & Barrel's food has gone down hill!! They used to be our favorite go to for brunch but after 2 visits in the past month we are done. All of our food was overcooked, one might say burnt. What a shame!!! Plus, this past visit it took 45 minutes to get our food and there were only 4 tables in the restaurant.

Yelp
Tom was terrific with our party of 7. He was very entertaining and made our work lunch a fun experience. The food and drinks were delicious and served quickly.
