We attended Josh Johnson's Flowers Tour. We loved it!!! The Fillmore was the perfect place. It's classy and it accommodates a nice size crowd. Josh did a meet & greet afterward which was AWESOME. You are in the heart of downtown. I would highly recommend events at this location and I double recommend seeing Josh Johnson. He's a rising star!

Great venue for metal/alt music. Wonderful sound even in the balconies, with it being a theater the opening acts have much less stage space. But all around a great experience.

Google
Saw Thee Sacred Souls at the Fillmore and I have to say it is my new favourite concert venue. Awesome acoustics. Intimate feel although it is an old theatre. This restored vintage theatre adds a cool vibe to any concert. Staff are super helpful. Easy to find parking. It is located close to the bridge/tunnel for you Canadian folks. Great place for a date night!

Google
One of my favorite concert venues in Detroit by far! The staff are always efficient and kind! There isn’t a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are awesome! Not to mention that the theatre itself is gorgeous! I love it when my favorite artists announce they’re performing here! Been three times & I can’t wait to go back!

I went with a friend to The Fillmore on Saturday June 21st, 2025 to see UK comedian Jimmy Carr. The show started at 7, we arrived around 6:45? The venue was gorgeous, the architecture was amazing. One problem - no elevator. My friend has RA and although she would do the stairs very slowly, it wasn’t ideal. One of the ushers brought up accessible seating? We said sure, just let us buy some water first. The usher PROVIDED water, then proceeded to walk us down a ramp to the 10th row on the main floor, which was AH-MAZING!!! Needless to say, best show I’ve ever been to. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Google
First time here, saw Nurse Johnn. Had a wonderful experience, 2nd row VIP. My friends were in the upper balcony and had difficulty hearing the comedians over the crowd. Beautiful on the inside. Big downside was paying $30/person to get into the attached bar, and then had to stand in a long line to be served - should have definitely had waitstaff for the steep steep drink prices and entry fee!

Google
The Fillmore is a great place to see shows! I went there for a comedy show. It's just the right size - not big enough to get lost, not so small that you feel cramped. The actual event space has no large pillars or beams, so you have an unobstructed view no matter where you're sitting. It's one of those older, historic theaters, so it also has a gorgeous lobby with marble and all that. Some of the steps in the event space are a bit steep, so be careful of that in the upper levels. If you go, look for the guy waving hello (it's not too hard)!

Google
Fantastic, small venue. Sat in the lower balcony, last row. Acoustics were great and I had a clear view of the stage. Easy access and parking across the street that is well lit. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Small/old bathrooms. Seats were not spaced very far apart, knees hitting the seats. Overall a fantastic experience!

Yelp
Great venue! Gorgeous historic theater and staff are super helpful. The music always sounds robust. My latest visit to the Fillmore was when Something Corporate was in town. We bought parking ahead of time across the street from the Fillmore and Comerica Park. Super easy in and out. From getting out of the concert to our car took all of a few minutes. The line to get in was intimidating. We showed up 20 minutes after doors open and the line still was super long! Staff were doing their best to control where the line was wrapping. They also were diligently, checking IDs and getting wristbands on people who wanted to drink. Be sure to check their bag policy. You either can bring in a clear bag that's larger or a smaller bag like a clutch. They do extensive searches of your bags. They will open every single tiny little compartment and even open eye glass cases or if you have a tin of mints. You also cannot bring in hand sanitizer. There's tons of bars everywhere, no matter the level that you're on. They also have some food items. They check tickets no matter where you're sitting. General admission was totally closed off other than small entrances that had staff checking tickets. This obviously goes for the tickets with a seat too. We sat in the highest balcony, which doesn't have the greatest views and was super hot. But the bar and bathrooms were never that busy. Staff were really helpful with getting you to your seat and also shining the light for you if you are walking down the stairs during the show. The theater is absolutely gorgeous and you could spend a whole night just walking through it and admiring the architecture and decor. The theater can hold a decent amount of people, but is not so large that you lose that intimate type vibe of a concert.

Yelp
I love that a venue would check bags for drugs or weapons, thank you for that. However I did bring a clear bag and the man who looked through my bag didn't just check it to make sure l didn't have any weapons...he inspected EVERY SINGLE ITEM one by one. He took out my mascara and looked it over, my lip gloss and looked it over, my floss and looked it over, my hair comb, my TAMPONS one by one and looked at them. I mean how unsanitary is that? Not to mention it just felt violating having every single thing in my purse be taken out one by one to be inspected and touched by a stranger with dirty ass hands in front of strangers. I felt like a criminal. It made me so unsettled that I couldn't even enjoy the concert. Just way too overboard. Ladies, pack your bags lightly and don't put anything in there that you wouldn't want fondled by a stranger with dirty hands. Ps they did take my hand sanitizer away - not sure why, but he sure not to bring any bc it will be taken away.| Done

Yelp
I didn't realize this is the former State Theater until someone told me. It's been 30 years since I was in this building. Of course it's been updated a tad. I came for the Black Women Rock 20th Anniversary Concert with friends. Their staff is helpful (with finding your seat). The area is spacious and beautiful to see. If you want to buy drinks inside, they carded and placed a wristband on your arm. I was told that a single can of beer was $12. Thank goodness I wasn't there for that. The sound system worked VERY well. It was easy to see the stage. The views are good.

Yelp
Beautiful venue! I've seen music concerts and comedy shows here. Well organized. Security moves quickly. Purses allowed if they are 4x6 or smaller. Credit card sales inside only.

Yelp
What an awesome time with my best girl friends. Such an easy smooth entrance/bag check. Clean bathrooms too. lol Everything is pricey, just as expected at any evet but the artwork in there is astonishing

Yelp
I came to the Fillmore tonight to see Postmodern Jukebox. I've been to most of the music venues in Detroit but had never been to the Fillmore before, so I was excited to try it out. Be aware they do have a bag policy, you can bring a wristlet basically or a larger clear bag. I was able to find details on it online so I opted just not to bring a bag. It was very easy to get into the venue, if you want to drink they give you a wristband but if you don't drink then don't bother with that. The chairs were actually really comfortable, I'm not sure if all of their concerts are like those or not, but we sat on the main floor and had chairs and plenty of legroom. The only caveat is that the bathroom is in the basement, but that's standard for a lot of the venues in this area. My friend and I each got a drink and they were $19 each, a bit pricey but that's Detroit for you now. Overall based on this experience I would come back here again to see a concert.

Yelp
Good place to see a show and have a drink. Historic theater provides great atmosphere, while still being comfortable, at least for the seats we had.

Yelp
One of my favorite artists recently came to Detroit on his tour and had a show at The Fillmore. It's a beautiful historic building! Old staircases and crown molding. The standing room was beautiful hardwood floors (that I assume are original) The drink selection was pretty good but very pricey. I had a spicy margarita that was really good but also was $24 for middle self tequila. The other disappointing part was you could buy bottled or tap water- they only serve liquid death. All of the staff I encountered were super nice and helpful. I would definitely return for another concert!
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Beautiful concert venue with a ton of art and vintage decor everywhere. I liked how cozy it still felt even though its super historic looking. The only thing I guess I could say I didn't like is that its standing room only for the lower level and the security guard was so strict on standing past the line smh. Also, sean paul came out 2 hours late and that pissed me off but thats not the fillmore's fault (I hope not anyway). I like this place more than little caesars arena and will be back to see someone else hopefully again before the end of the year.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite venues in Detroit for concert stops. The staff is always extremely friendly, the venue is gorgeous historic building, and there isn't a bad seat in the entire place. They also serve food at the start of the concert in a concessions stand.

Yelp
The Fillmore is such a historic venue in downtown Detroit and is probably my personal favorite event space! They are super organized, host a variety of events (concerts, comedy shows, etc.), and are a good mid-sized venue that still makes your events feel intimate, while also feeling a ton of camaraderie with fellow attendees. I believe the capacity is around 5,000 people. I love that the main floor has "steps" to it, which helps to give you multiple spots on the main floor to stand where you could still get a good view, especially if you're short like me! I also love that the balcony above doesn't seem too far so you'll still feel close to the stage even up there! The decor of the Fillmore is also so fun, I don't know why they're there, but the two knight status bracketing either side of the stage gaze proudly upon the audience at every event and I love seeing them there! Every event I've gone to at the Fillmore has been spectacular and I always get excited when I see people and groups that I want to see performing here! To many more events at the Fillmore!

Yelp
What a great place to see a show - get the tickets at one of the tables! Real seats and a place to put your drink - by far the most comfortable seating option of any of the local theaters. Even the regular seats have little tables near them so you don't have to hold your drink the whole time. I will say that they struggled with the lighting and sound last night. Some direction was needed from the band and there were a few feedback situations; one that was particularly bad and very loud in between the last song and the encore lasting the entire time the band was offstage. Not ideal. Getting is was super fast, the lines at the bars was easy to get through, and there was no waiting in the Comerica parking garage when we left. Very smooth. I'd go out of my way to see another show here for sure.

Yelp
Great venue for a concert/performance. Went to see Geddy Lee's "My Effin Life" book tour. Amazing venue with unbelievable architecture. Not a bad seat in the house. I will say my husband is 6'5" and I am 6' tall, the seats are very tight between rows. Everyone has to do the "man spread". Other than that the service was good at the door and bar. We will not Heston see other shows here.
google avatar

DeMario M.

Yelp
Dope location. The architecture is old victorian style. The seat were mad comfortable. I originally thought that it was a standing venue only but I was pleasantly surprised by the seating. We went to see Chöle perform. I won some tickets, wasn't a huge fan but I wanted to experience the Filmore and who turns down free tickets. The performance was nice. The acoustics are very good. There's multiple bars on each level so the line flow very well. Overall I had a good experience and would recommend visiting.

Yelp
The Filmore has been a staple spot for shows my entire life. It's the perfect venue for a concert. General admission - standing room is a great view, as well as the balcony seating area. Anywhere you choose to be is wonderful viewing & sound. The decor is beautiful, Renaissance Revival. I am in awe everytime I step foot in this venue. Absolutely stunning.

Yelp
How have I not gone to The Fillmore before? What a great venue! Went to see Dita Von Teese - fabulous! I love the interior - BEAUTIFUL. Really enjoyed the posters in the areas outside the theatre. Great please for photo ops, too. Very instagramable! Don't drink too much ladies...the potty is tiny. Do your kegals before you go :0

Yelp
Beautiful venue to see a concert. I have always had floor tickets and never the balcony. Tip for the women: overheard security say there is a purse size limit unless it contains a medical device.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic customer service! I really cannot say enough good things about the crew, specifically in regards to accessibility accommodations. Big thanks to Mark, David, and the rest of the team! We enjoyed a really special night. 10 out of 10 would recommend this venue for a concert or show: friendly bartenders, efficient merch set-up, bathrooms are very clean, and the overall vibe is immaculate. They do not accept cash at the bar, plan accordingly.
google avatar

Yelp
The show opened doors 45 minutes late and then started the opening act 30 minutes later when people were not even inside. The bar was so incredibly slow that no one was actually in seats for the first act. Absolutely terrible service and terrible process and even worse observation of the actual situation.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice venue. Most staff was friendly, aside from a grossly sticky floor from spilled drinks, it seemed clean inside. Wish there were more restrooms, but since the venue is pretty intimate, what they do have works. There are decent hotels located nearby so if you're from out of town...or state, you can simply walk to your event. Food sales would make this a five star venue.

Yelp
Amazing Theatre, Victorian decor. Comfortable seats and nice bar/food. The staff was friendly. The building is old and it shows little bit. Plenty of parking nearby, all paid- parking garage, street parking. Went there for the 90s music concert. They started really late, 2 hours. But they were good. The sound/acoustics was decent but not all that great. Entrance is off of Woodward and the line gets really long but moves super quick as the have several security check lines. They have multiple drink/bar also some snack bar both in main level and mezzanine. The restrooms are in the basement though. The box chairs were little less comfortable compared to the general admission chairs. Funny. I would like to go when the construction is done and for a better show.

Yelp
Went to see a comedy show last night! Are seats J one and two.. I noticed the seat moving wayyy back.. so I looked behind US THE seat was basically laying in this ladies KNEES!! She had to have her legs way over to her husband. She looked very uncomfortable!! I said oh my God to my friend your seat is broken. SIT UP! He didn't even realize I said "ma'am" I'm so sorry!! My friend had to sit up the entire show! I lean back and I hear a guy moan & my back of a seat was broken!!!! My seat was laying in her husband's knees!!! Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Of course I couldn't find a manager or someone to speak to. It's all workers making $$$$$ ( but NOT FIXING SOMETHING SO IMPORTANT AS THE SEATS)! Do not take these seats. They know these seats are broken!!!I'm sure there's been many complaints. It didn't look like a new brokenness & to have two of them right next to each other, I am so disappointed & furious! We both had to sit sitting up the whole show and the tickets were not cheap!
google avatar

Lu F.

Yelp
Never ordered the food items, however, do purchase table seating. This is the way to see a concert! Bar service and plenty of room at the table. I love this vintage venue. No matter where you sit/stand it is a good view.

Yelp
First off, this place will ALWAYS be the State Theater to me. It's literally chiseled into the side of the building along with the name of the architect, C. Howard Crane, and the year of completion, 1925. I've never been to the Fillmore in San Francisco, and I don't doubt it's a venerable place, but it's that one edifice in SF and renaming various venues around the country cheapens it as well, IMO. Rebranding and franchising are a bit out of control these days. Okay, semantics rant over. I have a lot of good memories of the State Theater. Monday Night at the movies in the early 90s with only the hippest films, Looney Tunes before the main feature and the balcony sporting that distinctive marijuana odor. Seeing Fugazi with the Make Up opening, all hopped up on Mini Thins. Ween playing one of their notoriously long sets in 2003. Going to see Methodman and Redman and having to leave the line in the front when I saw the pat down was so thorough they were going to find the blunt I stashed and hiding it in the abando down the block and blazing it after they show. They played a bunch of stuff from Redman's first album, too. So dope! I've been here twice of late, getting the whole backstage V. I. P. treatment when hanging with my homeys Easy Action, who were opening for Wayne Kramer's MC50 and rolling dolo up in the nosebleeds to see Elvis Costello. The nosebleeds here aren't too bad, really. It's a nice steep grade so you're more high up than far away. I saw Slayer from up there something like 3 years ago, too. The sound is usually pretty good here, though the guitar wasn't as prominent as it should have been for Elvis Costello. He played for a full 2 hours and 15 minutes, very impressive for a fellow his age, though Ween still has him beat. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous, impeccably restored. I'm sure other folks beside me got some pics on here to attest to that. The line at the front moves at a snail's pace, which is really a drag, especially if it's cold or rainy out, and it often is in Michigan. And the concessions leave something to be desired. My hot dog was puny, especially for the size of the bun, and my nacho chips were both thin and lacking in flavor. So the State whiffed on price, portions and flavor. So eat before you get here if you can. There's usually lots of barkeeps on duty and those lines move pretty quick, except in the upper balcony. Okay, time to hop over to change.org to start a petition to change the name back to the State Theater!
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
Went and saw Elvis Costello, great show as always. He had a great set list it captured a lot of his song catalog. The sound was very good. The theater itself is an absolute beauty, the chandeliers, the awesome architecture throughout, reminded of the theaters in NYC. The seats were a little cramped and it was extremely hot in the balcony. The ushers were helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
When it opened in 1925, the Fillmore was named the State Theatre. Along the way, it was also named the Palm-State Theatre, and the Palm Theatre. Then, in 2007, it was renamed the Fillmore. The building's architect was C. Howard Crane, a prominent Detroit-area architect. The style is Renaissance Revival, and it is beautiful. The ornate decorative elements give the space a luxurious, posh ambiance. The space is multifunctional and is especially well suited to concerts. When you pay for a ticket to see an act at the Fillmore, you get part of your money's worth simply from the beauty of the space.

Yelp
Best venue to offer general admission to see solid bands. Kinda miss 89x nights from the 90s

Courtay S.

Yelp
A spontaneous night out in Detroit turned into a memorable experience with wonderful assistance by Rath and the rest of the box office. Coming in 25 minutes before curtain without tickets they found us amazing seats in the knick of time with VIP treatment.

Yelp
Beautiful!!! Thats the best way I can described this theatre. We were in town for the weekend to see Simple Minds at the Fillmore. Walking in i was taken back by the amazing architecture of the inside. There are plenty of areas to view the show without any obstacles. The acoustics were dead on. All the songs sounded perfect. Im looking forward to finding another show to attend there for another long weekend in town
google avatar

Bryan K.

Yelp
This is such a great venue and I understand about being a theatre or performing art center but the rates of drinks are RIDICULOUS!!! I'm not one to complain about a drink if it's poured heavily at these prices but it's $14-16 for a controlled double, get real guys you're rapping your customers. Also not a water fountain to be found anywhere...

Yelp
I been here a few times already to watch concerts and such. It's one of them great theatres in the Immediate downtown area. The architecture is still stunning as far as I'm concerned. It's theatre seating so, there's basically not a bad seat in the house specially when you're watching a concert. It's definitely not stadium seating, so the nosebleed seats are even pretty good seats. You could at least see their faces, not just a tiny spec in the distance. The acoustics are hecka awesome here. Sound travels exceptionally well through out the theatre. There's convenient rest rooms that are at striking distance from the seats. Concession stands close by as well, and I don't really mind the price for drinks and snacks. If you didn't know to pre drink before coming to the show, then you're a little behind. Plus, we came to see a show, not to wine and dine. Anyways, I like coming to watch concerts here. Never have I had a bad experience. Thank you Fillmore! I'll see you again next time. (",)

Yelp
First, I want to thank Yelp Detroit so much for offering half-off tickets to see one of my favorite drag queens, Trixie Mattel! The tickets were also at stage level and we had a table so we can easily sip from our drinks and eat our food. I'm new to the Detroit area, but I feel like The Fillmore has a lot of history with its gorgeous architecture and posters of past artists who performed there hanging on the walls. I also found the staff to be accommodating for the most part... We arrived right when doors open. I didn't appreciate how they made us wait across the street in the freezing cold near a sketchy garage while we awaited the doors to open. That could have been planned much better with the safety of customers in mind. I personally found some of the audio of the performance hard to hear. I'm unsure if it was due to the performer or the acoustics of the place. Finally, the concessions were overpriced. Although these negatives need to be improved, I would go back to see a show here again.

Yelp
I've been coming to The Fillmore for years, back to when it was The State Theatre. Have seen countless shows here from Alanis Morisette to No Doubt to Sum 41, Metric, and Kesha. I've had tickets for mezzanine, balcony and floor before. Mezzanine is a little pricier. Acoustics are best in mezzanine and the view is a nice overlooking view of the stage without any heads blocking your view, although the view presents the artist in a more miniature form. Leg room was kind of limited and seats are super close together so you get to know your neighboring concert goer well. When people stood up to dance in mezz, the whole area/ground beneath your feat shakes and vibrates like it might collapse. Balcony wasn't too bad either from what I can remember but it's still General Admission so you have to line up early to get a good spot but if you wish to sit, then balcony or mezzanine is where it's at. Also mezzanine assigns you a seat number so you don't have to arrive super early which is nice. Floor is set up kind of similar to Royal Oak Music Theatre where there are three ascending levels divided by stairs and railing. If you're in General Admission floor seats, and you wish to see well, I'd recommend lining up early and snagging one of the highly coveted spots at the second or third tier in front of the railing. No heads in front of you and more breathing room then down in the first level of pit. For Metric, I went to the first level, and the stage is not elevated like it is at Majestic or El Club and is close to being down on the ground so if you're vertically challenged like me, seeing the stage over heads is a real struggle. Acoustics weren't that great on floor and were better in mezzanine. Also there is no seating available at floor level unless you pay extra for a VIP ticket which secures you a seat or table at the bar which you can leave and come back to freely at your whim. The VIP section is newer within the last 10 years because when I was recently there, I went to sit at an empty table and a bearded hipster in a fedora who apparently worked there, instructed me that seats are only for VIPs which I was previously unaware of. I remember seeing Sum 41 here years ago and if you got overwhelmed by pit, you could always find a spot to sit in the bar to take a break but unfortunately that's not an option anymore unless you purchase VIP in advance so I might look into that for next time. The theatre itself is very beautiful with gorgeous murals, chandeliers, and gold gilded crown molding. Drinks are expensive like they are at most venues, $9 for a bud light, $14 for a small cocktail and $9 for a mixed cocktail with single shot and $14 for a double. How early you should arrive to snag a good spot really depends on who you are seeing. For Kesha, people were lined up for blocks and blocks and blocks and we probably waited 45 minutes to get in and the pit looked uncomfortably jam packed but that show sold out in minutes so makes sense. However for Metric, there was no line and we walked right in. The Fillmore is a nice venue for a medium sized crowd concert. The Majestic, El Club, and The Shelter remain my fave venues though. The Fillmore also does events here like Monster's Ball and NYE Resolution Ball which look fun but I haven't attended any of these yet. We came last year for an Opening Day party and it was ok, although not a lot was going on.

Dylan ..

Yelp
Just attended an acoustic concert here and had a couple sitting behind us that got so drunk they passed out and woke up throwing up all over their seats. I informed the staff of what was happening and they told them to leave and cleaned the seats, only for the couple to return saying they didn't kick them out, so they just came right back and made the rest of the night miserable being loud and annoying trying to cause a fight. The staff should have escorted the disrespectful, inebriated couple out of the venue to make the event-goers experience more enjoyable.

Yelp
This was my first time traveling to Detroit and The Fillmore, to see my all time favorite artist, Deadmau5 and his Cube2.1. The show was beyond incredible and the atmosphere this venue created was bar none. Built in 1925, the Fillmore Detroit was known for most of its history as the State Theatre. It is located near the larger Fox Theatre in the Detroit Theatre District along Woodward Avenue across from Comerica Park where the Tigers play and The Grand Circus Park. This place features a beautiful Grand Lobby and three levels of seating, being GA, Mezzanine, Loge and Upper Balcony. The mezzanine and balcony levels still contain their original theatre seating and the original chandeliers are still hanging in the theatre as well. The building itself was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and for good reason. It is undoubtedly one of the most historically, eye gazing venues I've had the pleasure of seeing a show at. The venues capacity is roughly 3,000 people. This elegant venue has been renovated to offer guests a unique concert and special event experience in the recent years, with LiveNation heading the project, updating many of the areas but keeping the historical aspect in check. As far as the show goes, there were downfalls. The Loge is the seating area I had. While it was absolutely perfect for the performance having Deadmau5 almost eye level since his towering cube is nearly 2 stories high, it was somewhere of a hassle at times. I'm not sure if they do this for all shows, but the area was GA with seats. We had several people throughout the show come in the aisles and try to push their way into seating. This created a very distracting environment as security would be frequently coming down the aisles to clear people out who didn't have "seats." Overall, I give this place a solid 4-star rating based on size, sound, service and the absolute awe that you can marvel in as you watch a show. I would highly recommend trying to see one of your favorite artists here, as you'll enjoy them and the historical nostalgia of the theatre in the same breath.

Yelp
I came here last night for a rap concert and I was surprised by how nice the venue was. I was very curious to see how a bunch of rap fans would fit into this beautiful building but the space was perfect. The GA area was the right amount of space with the right amount of people where we were all close, but still had room to move. There is a parking garage right around the corner called Fox parking which we bought a ticket too beforehand and saved a lot of time and panic. I would definitely return to this venue for another event.

Yelp
I bought tickets for Sam Harris and was extremely excited for the show. The worst snowmageddon hit Michigan and both our schools and our work told us to stay at home in order to stay safe. The Fillmore told us that even though many people have called to complain the artist has decided to proceed with his show and there was nothing they could do. Of course the artist is proceeding with the show, they flew all they way in and don't want to lose money. I think it's extremely inhumane to request people to drive in the most extreme conditions even when every other institution is telling people to stay home in order to stay safe. I hope the event goes well and everyone is safe. I'll remove this review if this ever gets resolved. I don't typically bash business unless they are taking advantage of people for money.

Yelp
4 stars for location, value, artists, and friendly and efficient staff. I came here for an EDM show Above & Beyond in May and it was great! The acoustics and lighting was great, lots of room to move around, they also have a balcony and raised platforms. Pretty much everywhere you are on the floor will have a full view of the stage. This place is uber old. The staff were friendly and professional and not too strict. Bathrooms--- pretty clean for the volume of people it holds and it has an attendant! I love that... not that I ever need anything from them, I just love it when a bathroom is staffed. What I love the most is the artists that they pull so definitely watch out for their line up if and when you're in Detroit.

Yelp
Enjoyed the Steve Hackett show last night. Good sight lines (other than the dancing lady in the audience) and the large bar in the middle of the theater is great. Seats were reasonably comfortable for an older venue.

Yelp
I've had the privilege of attending concerts and various shows at a number of different venues but I've come to enjoy The Filmore Detroit for its intimacy and good site lines. I've sat on the main floor, the mezzanine and the balcony but have never had a bad seat. If sitting on the main floor, I would recommend paying a little extra and sitting at one of the high top tables. While the seats at the high top tables aren't padded, sitting at the high top tables allows you access to an area that has more room to move, has its own bar directly behind you, and is close to both the bathrooms and the snack bar. Also, the sight lines are really good from this area.   If sitting in the mezzanine, I would recommend pretty much any row in one of the middle sections. Fortunately, these seats are padded & comfortable, and the sight lines from most of the mezzanine seats are really good. Also, there are a number of seats that have a small attached table that connects both of them. It's nice if you are with someone and both of you want to sit your drink, snack or other items on the table. However, keep in mind that one of you will be sitting in a seat with no one on either side of you while one of you will have someone sitting right next to you. For us, this wasn't a deal breaker. Also, the mezzanine has two bars, one on each side of the mezzanine that are just a few steps from your seat. The only downside to sitting in the mezzanine is that the bathrooms are on another level. You either have to go up or down to get to the bathrooms. Lastly, a nice touch with sitting in the mezzanine is that you have to show your ticket in order to be allowed into the mezzanine.   If sitting in the balcony, in my opinion, pretty much any seat is good. They are padded, comfortable and have good sight lines. Also, the bathrooms are close by. One thing to keep in mind is that there aren't any elevators in The Filmore. So, if you struggle with stairs then you will probably want to focus on main floor tickets. Nonetheless, the employees will assist you if needed.   Lastly, we enjoy the fact that The Filmore is always fully staffed and there are workers aplenty throughout the venue. Lastly, prepare to stand outside in line before the doors open or wait in your car until the line has subsided. Also, be prepared to show your ID while waiting in line outside in order to get a wristband if you plan on drinking during the event your attending. If you're not drinking then you can simply bypass this part of the line and walk into the venue and get in line for the metal detectors. Overall, we certainly recommend The Filmore.

Yelp
Definitely a cool venue to see a band. Main floor gets really crowded so if you want to get close you have to brave the crowds. All the people working there are great. Recommend upper deck if you want to get a better view of the band

Yelp
Unless you're on the ground floor, the view isn't that great. I've sat in the second floor and third floor balconies and they are too far back with a limited window on the second floor. At least the second floor has more comfy seats than the 3rd. Went to see Limp Bizkit last weekend and there was hardly any security on the 2nd floor and the bathrooms were shut down halfway through the show. They were also disgusting. This place needs a makeover.

Yelp
Had an absolute blast attending the Monster Ball 16!!!! DJ's were amazing and they kept the party going and amped up. I'll definitely be going again next year!

Yelp
Great show at the Fillmore with PartyNextDoor! The seating was great in the logega. The sound was amazing and the lighting for this show was exceptional! Besides Jeremih not showing up the overall show and venue was great!

Yelp
I'll preface this review by stating that the two stars is only reflective of the New Year's Eve Resolution Ball. This event was pretty bad. First, if you bought your tickets during the Black Friday sale, you received a message stating that you'd receive a complimentary glass of champagne from the "champagne fountain" upon arrival. Yet, when we got there, no champagne was available. When we asked the bar tenders, they had no clue what we were talking about. Although you get 9 drink tickets, the bar queues have very limited options, running on a truncated menu. You're basically limited to champagne, vodka and [insert juice] or rum and [insert pop]. It's $145 per person, and they advertise "premium cocktails." I would think "premium" means something other than "cranberry vodka." They promise you pizza, coneys and sliders at midnight. However, the event is so poorly planned and managed. The employees brought out all 50something boxes of pizza and stacked them on a table to the side of the room so that they could put them on the main buffet table one-by-one. Because the pizzas were just sitting there unattended, people began absconding with them; they'd just walk off with a whole pizza, leaving hardly any for those who did as they were told and went to the main buffet line. If you're a vegetarian, that screws you over, because the only thing you can eat is the plain cheese pizza (coneys and sliders are the other offerings). There were three drink kiosks - one bar that hangs off the left of the entrance and two drink stations in the main area. The drink stations are bombarded by people constantly, and the bartenders have no clue who got there first. It's not their fault; they're just trying to keep up, but the venue/promoters should have a better system to queue up and get drinks. On a personal note, the whole affair was way too clubby for me. I'm 31, and the idea of pushing my way onto a jam-packed dance floor while EDM blares in my ear is far from enticing. Oh, and people were literally urinating on the floor of the bathroom as a nonplussed bathroom attendant stood there, not alerting custodial or doing much of anything. The fact that you could get a respite from the whole affair by going into the bar on the side of the entrance was nice, and it made getting drinks a bit easier. That wasn't so bad. Everything else was a nightmare.

Yelp
They don't clean well with their lighting and such. The heat was horrible. We sat upper balcony and it was horrible. And this was with not a lot of people here. Afraid how hot it will get once it fills up. Such a beautiful place and they don't pay attention to the details. Concert was excellent and loved seeing Elvis Costello there. Hopefully they will do things a bit better.

Yelp
This venue is really a little gem in Detroit. The stage is nice. There is ample floor space for the general admission area. I've been to a variety of events there ranging from The Monster's Ball to Prince to Lenny Kravitz and each time, I enjoyed the intimate setting. The art deco interior is lovely and you feel like you are transported a back in time for a spell there. So when you see an event advertised there, go and check it out.

Yelp
This place is exactly what Detroit is all about! Gorgeous architecture, tons of history, and home to some absolutely astounding music. I regularly come to Detroit for rock and metal shows, so usually the venues aren't this GRAND. Even through the sound of some serious metal core the details of this theater catch your attention! I found myself frequently staring up at the ceiling and caught my eyes wandering from the stage to the chandeliers. There isn't a bad seat in the house! The staff were on point, plenty of security, decent parking options, and lots of opportunities for great photos. Drinks weren't priced any higher than any other area venue, the bathrooms were the cleanest at any metal show I've ever been at, and the place was surprisingly clean for fully sold out I Prevail show. I'll def be back for more shows in the future.

Yelp
My favorite venue in Detroit. At The Shelter I feel too closed in and at Little Caesars it's too big, The Fillmore is just right! I have only sat in the balcony once and I do not recommend! Seating is very tight up there rows are very close together. I love seeing concerts from the floor! Such an up close experience! The building is beautiful too and the location is close to tons of restaurants.
