The 19 Best Restaurants In Pittsburgh 2024

"This gastropub brings the heat, literally—at the center of Fire Side Public House is their large wood-fired grill. Grab a spot at the bar or one of their high-top tables that’ll place you right at the perimeter of the grill, where you can watch flat iron steaks, sweet corn on the cob, and avocados get charred to perfection. After sipping a Pennsylvania-brewed pint, kick off your order with the city’s best fried and smoked wings and their crab-infused corn meal hushpuppies topped with bacon, corn, and spicy aioli. This place makes for the perfect lunch stop after your productive morning at nearby Redstart Coffee Roasters or for a quick meal before tackling your weekend to-do list." - elaine zedack, quayla allen

Wings and the burger with fresh cut fries was AMAZING. Service was a little slow but she was nice. It was a little drafty and kinda cold. The cheese cake was bland but the other food was great. I also had a merlot that was good.

Google
We are from our of State and thought the menu looked great on Google. It was amazing! Waitress was good. The atmosphere was a good, fun vibe. My husband and I sat at the bar and watched them grill food. That was cool. Everything the chefs made looked amazing❣️I had 2 drinks. He had tea since he was driving. Bill was $38 plus our tip. It's not too bad on price, I thought

Google
Fantastic meal!! Cooks were working hard and seemed to take pride in their craft!! Everything was tasty!! The female cook with short dreads (Saturday 7/19)even brought our order around when our waitress was elsewhere. She deserves a bonus for excellent customer service. Most cooks would not do this. Bravo folks! I must say one of the other cooks (buff older guy with glasses) was eating at the prep station and touched food items with his hands ungloved. Don't think the health inspector or customers would find this a good practice.

Google
Pros: great food for a great price; it's hard to beat the quality for the price here and we enjoyed almost everything we had. The daily deals are great. The wood grill adds a great flavor that not a lot of places do (or if they do, it's expensive). The amount of light in the place is also great, huge windows on all sides just makes for a nice atmosphere -- if you can't sit outside on the patio, you can still at least feel like you're outside. It's also nice to see the wood grill in operation -- just adds to the experience. We also had a great server. Cons: I really love the decor/layout of the place (see above) but I gave it a 3/5 on atmosphere because of the loudness of the interior. I think it's the fans in the middle that add such a loud background noise... some sound absorbing would help. I would sit outside in nice weather for this reason alone. Additionally, the fries were a little inconsistent (nothing crazy). My wife and I have been here several times and will go again -- just a solid, unique restaurant with lots to love at a reasonable price.

Google
My friend and I went here a couple weeks ago for dinner. It was very cute. There was indoor and outdoor seating. Ample parking and fun neighborhood vibe. The pricing was reasonable, the portions are ample. They have themed nights like wing night and the atmosphere was pleasant and laid back. Our waiter Glenn was very nice and attentive without being overbearing. Nice spot for after work, family dinners or friendly get togethers.

Excellent burgers, good chicken wings, very friendly service (patience needed), decent beer selection, recommended

Google
If you haven’t had it, you are MISSING out! This has become a staple for us on the weekends after we wrap up shopping! Awesome service, good specials/drinks, and you won’t find a better chicken Sammie in the city! PS: all of their food is excellent and the roasted corn/grilled wings are literally to die for! Always appreciate the wait staff and their service! Every visit we are met with attentiveness, kindness, and cleanliness. There is nothing I’d change about this restaurant! Awesome menu and even better people! Highly recommend!

Google
Some of the best food I think I've had in Pittsburgh! Everything was so flavorful and the wings were cooked perfectly with a lot of delicious sauces to choose from, fries were the best! Our server was also great and very kind and all around this was definitely just a 5 star experience, both inside and outside seatings are very nice and cozy as well. Can't recommend enough

Yelp
Dark and old interior but super kind staff. Food was great! The wings were big and crispy. The corn was out of this world, wish I could have stomached 2 of them. The best thing on the menu is the bacon crab hushpuppies. I was scared the bacon flavor would take over but it provided the right texture. My only complaint is I wish the happy hour extended to some of the apps. Otherwise decent bar food in a bar atmosphere with a great price point.

Yelp
This Illy Philly and her man were hungry, the power was out in Pittsburgh, and we needed a place to get some hot food so we decided to go to the Fireside Public House for what we thought would be a great experience. Not at all. When we walked in the restaurant had a few people so we thought great, and we waited for someone to seat us, but after about five minutes of watching the staff walk around, not acknowledge us, and not seat us we had to call out to them to ask if we could seat ourselves. We then sat at the bar and this is when the nightmare began... We sat for about 30 minutes before anyone asked us if they could help us. While we were seated we watched people come in, get seated almost immediately and get service....WE were still at the bar...with no service. Finally a waitress came and said she would be with us shortly and took our drink order. My guy ordered a beer and I ordered hot tea. After another 20 minutes he finally got his bear and I got a tea bag....yes, a tea bag and no water. After another 20 minutes she finally brought me the water, but we had to ask her twice just to get it. All in all we waited over an hour and a half to get our food and everyone that came in after us had their food within 15 to 20 minutes. We had to call over the waitress twice and the second time she had an attitude as we 'pleasantly' pointed out that tables that sat after us already received their food. She made excuses, with an attitude, and we still had to wait. Needless to say it was a horrific experience and my suggestion would be to have a conversation/training about good customer service and what that looks like. What was really crazy is after all of that, they didn't even comp our bill for the nightmare and she had an attitude when we asked about this and only took 10% off. Oh, I forgot she did offer my man a free beer. Smh.... If I could give a 0 rating I would.

Yelp
I recently went back to Fireside Public House for their Monday night wing special. I ordered a small salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber) with balsamic dressing and 6 grilled wings (buffalo ranch) with ranch on the side. I'm such a fan of their wings, both grilled and fried. We sat on the patio, which is always a vibe. The service is also good and this is just a chill spot to dine at overall.
google avatar

Amber J.

Yelp
I like the look of the space. I enjoyed being able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The food was decent. I had two types of wings that were good. I also ordered the pretzel bites. The cheese wasn't the best. It wasn't smooth and was weird looking. I ordered fries that came out extremely late and weren't all the way cooked through so I sent them back. Our server while friendly was very forgetful. It took forever to just get our waters. As I mentioned my fries came out late because she forgot to put the order in. Also my friend ordered the Mexican corn which she also forgot to put in so it was a long wait. My friend ordered the Brussels sprouts and asked for the sauce on the side. They came out with the sauce on them. Overall all it was an ok experience the service just lacked somewhat.

Yelp
Tucked away on Broad Street in East Liberty, PA they serve good bar food..the kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant so you can watch preparation utilizing a wood burning grill..food isn't kept warm under a heat lamp ...it's served when ready...
google avatar

Jordan M.

Yelp
Had the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and the Street Corn. Awesome food. Free soda refills are a rarity these days. Servers were super friendly and there was plenty of room to sit.

Mia S.

Yelp
Taco Tuesday Happy Hour! These tacos ($12) are legit, and their happy hour is half off beers and regular cocktails. Also: bacon crab hushpuppies. Nuff said.
google avatar

Yelp
Just your average bar spot with average food. I had a burger with fries here and it was good, the portions were very big and it was greasy in a good way. Nothing to write home about though. The beer selection is also good. I came on a Wednesday night, There are not many people at the restaurant which is how most places are in this neighborhood on Wednesday. Service was fine, no complaints about that. The bathroom was clean. The restaurant is huge and would maybe be more fun in the summer as they have Wide windows. Decent spot for a quick late night meal.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our time at Fire Side Public House. We just happened upon it and got a chance to eat outside. The food was fantastic. However, because we ate outside (I think) we were given paper products instead of dishware. That bugs me. It's a waste. It was windy and it was blowing away. And really, I am an adult and won't break the dishes.
google avatar

Michael V.

Yelp
I can't understand why every time I go there which is often it's cold. Today was freezing. Wtf. And I pay to be freezing while having lunch? Not good. Seriously
google avatar

Spirited R.

Yelp
We were looking for a bite to eat and stopped here. We sat outside. Menu is small but they have mainly bbq items. I decided to get grilled wings but they only had fried. Had a dozen of blended sauces garlic Parmesan and dry Cajun. They were good. Service was slow. We sat outside. Place is a bit odd and not inviting at all. Drink wise they offer domestic drinks.

Yelp
Very good happy hour selection, the atmosphere was chill, good crafty beers and crafty burgers. Freshly made french fries are always a plus and the servers are very nice. The only thing that wasn't 5* is the timing of the food. I waited over 40 minutes on my burger and when it came, it was on the colder side, while the french fries were hot. Timing of the dish coming out could be improved upon.

Yelp
We went here after going to a class at the Glass Center. First, there is a parking lot. This is helpful. We went in and it gives hipster vibes and diner all in one. We got a host of food and it was all above average. Burgers and fries are seasoned and they make everything in house. I also enjoyed our server who was like Donny Iris Yinzer which made me smile. Overall it was a good dinner, and we will go back again.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Your very run of the mill American bar food style restaurant. Service was very friendly and food/drinks were priced well. These were probably the only reasons I would come back. Food was pretty bland and generic. Has a sports bar vibe but only one smaller tv in near the bar.

Pamela C.

Yelp
We love Fireside, and we want to commend Lamar. He is the hardest-working person in the place. Thank you!

Yelp
This place offers a nice private parking lot, patio dining, and indoor dining. The service was decent and the wait for food was not long. They offer signature drinks, wine, and beer. Happy hour runs 5-7pm and they have American fare such as wings, burgers, and salmon. There aren't too many vegan or vegetarian options, but the menu has some great items to choose from. I really wanted some pierogis but unfortunately they were sold out...huge bummer. But....Guess what?! I found the street corn!! The street corn has a nice spicy kick and the kernels were juicy and crisp - not overcooked. Very well executed!! I shall return!

Dana L.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Sat and watched them cook it on the wood grill. Master class! Would definitely go back and highly recommend!

Allee C.

Yelp
Went for lunch and the food was delicious! We got wings, fries and a black and blue burger. I would go back for the food. Server didn't check on us because it got busy but we didn't need her so it was fine. The ambiance was cool with the fire in the middle and to watch them cook.

Todd P.

Yelp
Maybe the best burger I've had in PGH! Grilled wings are excellent. Would have given a 5 star but it's was very cold inside. Excellent service. Food came out timely and perfectly cooked.

Myra D.

Yelp
Had lunch yesterday have been a few times. Have always had the steak sandwich which was out of this world. Yesterday it was terrible steak overcook the cheese wasn't melted on the top, forgot the horseradish sauce bun cold and not crispy very few mushrooms and peppers. Waitress was good and pleasant.

Yelp
Fire Side is an East Lib gem. Their service and wait staff was friendly and super attentive. It's an open kitchen concept and cozy inside. Brisket 10/10 Steak Yinzers Salad 10/10 Wildfire burger 10/10 (sauce is spicy would recommend getting it on the side) Spicy Bloody Mary 8/10

Yelp
Service was absulotely amazing. A wonderful vibe and very friendly to costumers. However Iv'e rarely gotten fries so undercooked and tasteless. My friend said his burbon burger was really good though. I just think they should cut down their fries so they can cook all the way through. Server was amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a Pittsburgh place. The East Liberty restaurant is one of 3 in the area and newest. Lots of craft beers and full bar with complimentary off street parking. Self-described as a no frills restaurant is accurate. The serve was super friendly. Food was cooked on an open fire in the center of the room; literally watched a guy shovel coal and throw wood into the flame. Chicken sandwich and cheeses take were very good and the fresh cut fires were "fire", as the kids say. Black bean burger fell apart in the bun and was not worth the attempt. Biggest problem was our food was served 5 minutes apart from each. So if I waited for my wife's sandwich mine would be cold. Literally 10 minutes. Lastly, I am not a fan of eating out of a metal basket. I plan on returning and giving it another try, or trying another one of their venues.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was good. There is a great beer selection and on Saturday had a 5.00 margarita special. The only downside is the place is sooooo dark. It looks like there is recessed lighting but it wasn't on. There were two large chandeliers but a lot of the bulbs were burned out. We had to use our flashlights at the table. When I asked the waitress if something unusual was happening she said no.
google avatar

Bryce H.

Yelp
The food was great and I got chicken tenders because I'm a sigma and starry. Made me full by the end of it. Great seats, very underrated restaurant. Wish more people knew about this place.

Jack D.

Yelp
Great Juicy Burgers cooked to order. Good selection of beef and chicken for the burgers. Fries are good too. Nice assortment of beers and cocktails with daily specials. Excellent service and free parking in their lot. You can't go wrong! Love the wood fired grill ! Good spot for a nice lunch or dinner.

Yelp
After shopping near East Liberty, we looked for a restaurant using yelp of course. This place had decent reviews, so we went to check it out! Pretty glad we did because the burgers were amazing! We ordered the maple bacon wings which were good. They came with green onions which I thought tasted good with the maple and bacon bits. We then got the avocado burger and the black and blue burger. The burgers had a nice sear on the outside and they were super juicy and flavorful. The buns were toasted and super soft. The avocado burger came with half an avocado on it and the queso fresco was great. I will say that the inside of the restaurant was not super clean, so if I were to rate the atmosphere I would give it a 3. They were really understaffed. Overall I would give this place another try, but I would probably get another burger because it was so good!
google avatar

Rachel O.

Yelp
Today I got takeout from here for dinner. I got the Pittsburgh cheesesteak. It was ok. Definitely not a $20 sandwich though. Maybe I would have a better impression if I came and sat down and had drinks with my meal. They do have an extensive drink menu. Another plus is that they have a parking lot- no need to hunt for street parking.

Christian L.

Yelp
Food was amazing, very well seasoned. Service was a bit slow (in fairness they were busy) but otherwise it was very good.
google avatar

Mike R.

Yelp
I've been here a number of times (whenever I'm in the city) and love their grill. However, on this occasion the vibe and service was really different. So much so, I kept checking the shirts and menu to see if maybe they'd were under new ownership/management. Food was decent (had the salmon, cut was smaller than usual), and it was tasty. Hoping it was just a one off night, will try again...but if that's the new vibe, I'll pass.
google avatar

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. It's got a nice vibe and I love a woodfired grill. The food was lackluster though, and the service was really very poor. It started out ok. The server came over and gave us some water, then took drink orders. She spilled water with every pour, but I didn't think much of it initially. The drinks came out and we set about ordering an appetizer - the nachos. This came out quickly and was ok. Nothing to write home about and I thought the chips were a little stale. Then we ordered our meals and another drink. I thought it was weird that the specialty salads didn't have dressing recommendations - just a generic list to pick from. The drink I ordered never came and I had to ask again after the food was brought. In the meantime, she refilled waters, again spilling water all over the place in the process. The food was ok. The pierogis app was on the small side, though it tasted good. A friend and I shared the pear and blue cheese salad. The pear seemed a little fruit-cocktail-in-a-can for me, but the salad was good overall. Once we got the dressing, that is. One salad was delivered without and apparently only a manager can correct that? The salads overall are very large - easily sharable if you have an appetizer. I added salmon medium rare to my salad - it was overdone and very salty (I really like salty food, but this was a lot even for me). My companion had a shrimp skewer, which looked better. The waters were refilled - again with some spillage - LOL. Then the service just sort of stopped. I'd have had another drink, but no one ever asked. They got a little busy and we waited a while, before finally just flagging her down and asking for the checks. It took another while for her to pick them up and process them too. None of the plates we were finished with were ever cleared, so between that and the water spillage, our table was a mess when we left.

Yelp
Awesome wildfire grill restaurant that you won't break the bank going to! From the moment you walk through the doors, you're greeted by the wonderful smells of fire and freshly grilled food. We were seated right away at a hightop table near the bar. On the table is a list of daily specials. Highly recommend checking that out to see the deal of the day. We came on a Thursday and the special was $10 any burger on the menu! The menu is full of favorite handheld foods and comfort foods, along with a small section for salads. I ordered the wildfire burger. This burger is a juicy and tender beef patty with pepperjack cheese, perfectly crisp bacon, lettuce and tomato, and topped with their semi spicy bbq sauce. It was delicious! Everything blended perfectly together and ingredients were fresh. The smoky flavor of the grill came through as a wonderful aftertaste too. Even the fries were tasty, seasoned nicely and were crispy on the outside but soft inside. Our waitress was great too in getting us everything quickly and letting us hang out and enjoy our meal. Absolutely going to come back again and try another daily special menu item!
google avatar

Yelp
This was our first visit and not our last. The staff was very helpful and friendly with recommendations. The menu is full of variety to meet your tastebuds. All the food was prepared fresh, hot and cooked to perfection! Blueberry BBQ fried wing's was a hit. The crab-cake hushpuppies are must! Small but Very clean and well balanced dinning area with a small bar. We will definitely return!
google avatar

Rachel T.

Yelp
I have eaten here so many times, and the food is always great! We were hoping to sit outside since it was 65 and sunny today, but were told it was indoor seating only. This is the second nice day that we went to sit outside, but were told it was indoor only. We tried to call ahead of time to ask, but the line was consistently busy. That was a bummer, but we still enjoyed our meal! We had the crab cake sandwich and BBQ chicken sandwich. The French fries are great and their salad dressings are homemade too. Most of the menu items are cooked right over the fire grill. It smells amazing inside! Fire Side is a hidden gem behind the east Liberty Target!
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, great service, and solid food! They have a fire pit outside, which gives it an interesting vibe. The kitchen is in the center of the restaurant and you can watch them make your food. The Mexican street corn was soft and just the right mix of sweet and savory. The fire side burger was very solid. Not the most amazing burger I've ever had, but it hit the spot. The fries were thick and tasty. I'd recommend checking this place out! FYI the parking lot is very small.
google avatar

Jackie L.

Yelp
Good spot when you're in the mood for some good old American food! We loved our meal! We got the crab hush puppies to start (really good!), the Pittsburgh cheesesteak and the fried cod sandwiches as our entrees and the pineapple sundae to finish off. I was surprised with how good the sandwiches were! The horseradish aioli on the cheesesteak made the sandwich fun and unique. The cod sandwich had a thick piece of cod and light batter. The fries were also nicely seasoned, though a little crispier would've made them even better. All in all, a really good dinner!! Also shoutout to our server, Kyle! He was very covid conscious and super courteous!
google avatar

Julia N.

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends and had a great time! The service was friendly and funny, plus they had a lot of outdoor seating which is great with everything going on! I had a salad and it was delicious! For some reason my salad came out super late after everyone finished their meals, but that was okay because I was preoccupied with good company and conversation

Yelp
I was very disappointed. I have been here like 4 or 5 times and the food and atmosphere has been good, but I took my friends who took my word on choosing dinner here on Sunday night and we had actual bad time. I ordered one of the specials (1/2 rack of ribs) and it was overcooked - after trying my dish I sat there and didn't eat it, and at the end of the meal I sent it back and didn't even order anything else. One of my friends ordered another special (pulled chicken sandwhich) and while edible, it was very dry and not enjoyable like it should have been. The other in our party got the salmon, which I have had before and really liked - despite not liking salmon typically - and they asked her what her preferred cook was (temp and seasoning) and they didn't follow those instructions. The concept includes and open cooking area in the center of the restaurant and we could see the chefs there texting. Our waitress (who never told us her name at all) stopped at our table like a total of 3 times, close to an hour apart. When she sat some of our items down on the table she also had her vape in her hand.. We sat without water while we tried to eat our overdone/dry dishes. And we never even had the opportunity to order the desserts we had planned on getting. We had to ask another server to get the girl back to our table in order to issue our check.... and the other waitress said ours was supposed to be in shift lead/ in charge. I don't know that I'll be back anytime soon, my friends probably won't either since it was not a trustworthy recommendation on my part.

Jaime G.

Yelp
Not a good place. Very overpriced for the quality and service. Not worth it. The food is ok at least but the drinks are terrible. 17.5$ for a margarita that doesn't even tasted good.

Natalie B.

Yelp
We initially loved this place. However, after going in the harsh reality of daylight (had only been at night before), that's changed. First off, with sunlight streaming in, we could see how dirty the floor was. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Makes you wonder about the food prep and cooking cleanliness. Second, the fries that came on the side of my sandwich were riddled with blue spots. Bright, electric blue. I pointed it out to the waitress and she said she'd be back. When she returned, she said the cook told her the blue spots were just from a sticker that must've been left on a potato. *shrug* She asked if I wanted more. I declined and we asked for boxes to take our uneaten food home. My husband had lost his appetite at that point. It looked like crazy mold or who knows what...but even if it was a sticker that was left on, is that even sanitary to have in a fryer?? Yuck. When we got the bill, nothing was even taken off. Charged in full for everything. We left and have never been back.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Great food, service was okay. It's not fast food so don't expect to be in and out quick. Enjoy your night.
google avatar

Auralia H.

Yelp
This place has an open kitchen concept, so it is cool to see them preparing the dishes over the wood fire.
google avatar

Dan K.

Yelp
We have been here a couple times and the chef never disappoints. The food has been delicious every time and the fries are amazing! This was the first time it was busy, but for a Friday night, they still accommodated us immediately and got us seated. They have an extensive draft list and the prices are very reasonable.
google avatar

Bailey D.

Yelp
First I want to say I know people are trying to Bounce back because of the Covid pandemic. However, I was seriously disappointed when I ordered pierogies from their appetizer menu at the cost of $10 and they brought out three little ass pierogies. I was extremely disappointed not only did the menu not reference how many came with, they behaved as if serving three was acceptable. Will I come back anytime soon? Naw. Drinks were okay and so were the house made chips (however the serving size on those deserves a side eye too )
google avatar

Yelp
I really do like this place especially for Taco Tuesday. The staff is always really friendly and the food is always stellar. This was the very first time that I came and it was super busy. The main parking lot was full but they have additional parking in the rear of the restaurant. Even though the place was packed, I was greeted by a host and was directed to the bar as requested. Our bartender was really fun and knowledgeable of the menu and draft list. Our food took a little longer than usual but that was expected considering how busy they were. The only negative I had was that the place kind of smelled like old mop when you walked in which eventually subsided or I got used to it. Besides that, the 3 for $10 dollar tacos were worth it!
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Not a great experience. Poor lighting and really dirty. Very poor service. Waited over 50 minutes for nachos that were cold. It was like they forgot about us and the place was practically empty. Food was only ok. Fries could have been great (hand cut) but undercooked. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner on a crowded night. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to open up. The location is interesting because you can watch food being prepared and cooked in the fire. It can be a bit noisy with all the glass and hard surfaces. Our waitress was friendly and OK, somewhat overly friendly and did disappear for a while. When we tasted our water, I was interested to see if anyone noticed the strange taste. Yes indeed, it was mentioned immediately by someone in our group. It tasted as though the glasses had been cleaned but not rinsed properly or the rinse sink needed to be changed to clean water. They were out of all the daily specials so were ordered off the menu. My Wildfire burger was very good and had a little heat from the Buffalo sauce. The Fresh cut fries were good and a bit over salted.

Yelp
Called ahead to make sure they were showing the Women's World Cup Finale (they were, albeit with loud pop music playing over it). We sat on one side of the horseshoe-shaped dining area to watch the TV. In the middle is the bar, grill, and food-prep counter, with big glass windows all around. We enjoyed grilled ribs (sriracha maple syrup bacon and garlic parmesan) and split a house salad for a small but delicious lunch. There were lots of good-looking options on the menu, including the burgers and a number of sides. Despite the loud music, this would probably be a nice place to come back and try other dishes. They don't seem to be able to handle groups larger than four, and the restrooms are single stalls and gendered. Ample free lot parking.

Yelp
Waited 60 minutes for blackened salmon which was bone dry. Food was not paced as the appetizers came out with the other parties entrees. This was a non-busy..12 people only in the restaurant, Sat afternoon. Would not recommend.
