The Fireside Room

This is a destination all it's own. Class, charm, intimacy, community. If "chill" had a warm-adjective equivalent, it would be this room. It invites you to sit down, have a good drink (cocktail, neat, or even cocoa), and take your leisure. Dinner menu available from the restaurant ($20-30pp). In the evenings, a lovely bar. Always a warm and welcoming feel.

I had an amazing experience at this place! The atmosphere was absolutely charming—warm lighting, elegant decor, and a cozy yet vibrant energy that made the evening feel special. The highlight, however, was the incredibly talented young woman playing the piano. Her music added a magical touch, creating the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and enjoyable night. The staff was attentive, the drinks were crafted to perfection, and the overall ambiance made it a place I’d love to return to. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a sophisticated yet welcoming spot!

Went here for an afternoon tea. The place was amazing looking, and I love the dark wood. It was airy without having too much sound echo as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food and tea were really good, especially the dessert. The scones were our favorite, though the chocolate cupcakes were some of the best we've had, too!

I attended Hotel Sorrento’s Witches Tea and it was spooktacular! 👻🍵🧙🏼‍♀️🔮🫖 The Halloween spirit was alive in the air (thanks fog machine and piano-playing skeleton), and the decor added to the experience! Several people were dressed up to compliment the witchy theme. The tea and treats were tasty, and the service was hospitable. Crafty cocktails were available for purchase from the bar. After tea, I recommend the exploring the *spirited* hotel…if you dare! 🖤

A hidden gem. Had a great experience with a bourbon tasting event there paired with a nice multi course dinner. The wait staff and beverage manager ensured we had a great experience.

Silent Reading Night in The Fireside Room is a must experience event. Beautiful ambiance paired with melodic piano music topped off with decadent food and drink. A captivating experience that I would suggest to anyone.

I've gone to HH in both rooms (The Bar and Fireside Room) and love the atmosphere of both. One summer afternoon found my good friend and I having oysters and prawn cocktails along with 2 rounds of their seasonal but potent crafted guava cocktails. The oysters were super fresh and briny and the prawns were plump and tasty. It was definitely a wonderful way to blow off steam after a long work day. Service was impeccable with a dash of old school cool. Our bartender was skillfully talented and charming.

Fish tasted 3 min away from being over. Stick with the pasta. Kitchen is a little slow. Good cocktails and nice service.

We came here for the silent reading party and the service was absolutely atrocious! We arrived 15 min early and were seated immediately. We asked the server if we could order food at 8:45 and she said it wasn't allowed and walked away. it then took 25 min before we waved down another server to order drinks, because our server served Every person in the room before us and never came back. In that same time two tables around us were served items that we were told we couldn't order and that it was because they came early...except they came in at the same time we did. We asked the people next to us and they said it's because they come all the time. Which is so weird. When we flagged down a server to put down our drink order and asked again about the food she said she was going to go and check with the kitchen and she never came back. What did happen after that though was almost every server except our own of corse, because she never came back again the entire night, made snarky comments to us about everything and were just weirdly short with every interaction. This is the most overrated event. They clearly don't treat all their guest with the same respect and service. We spent $70 to buy tickets, and weren't even treated as human and then at the end of the night after not a single person asked us if we wanted anything and avoided our table like the plague, they had the nerve to act like they were doing us a favor for not meeting the minimum order requirement of $20 a person. We couldn't even get a server to come to our table. We were planning on spending a lot of money tonight, we were there for a galentines date and really wanted to have a good time and the way we were treated really just ruined the entire night. I would never come back again. I do not recommend!

Gorgeous bar in a charming, old-world hotel with actual fireplaces (perfect for those dreary, rainy Seattle nights!). Note that there's no food served here before 5pm except a bowl of nuts, so something worth considering if you arrive hungry. Drinks were good albeit a little pricey. We stayed on for dinner (from the restaurant directly across the bar called Stella). The hazelnut crusted steelhead trout was good, but I would not recommend the pappardelle ragu because the pasta was overcooked and mushy instead of being al dente. It also lacked spice which I think would've vastly improved the dish. Service at this bar was great and waiters were very prompt. On the whole, we'd probably come back for drinks but not dinner.

Perfect spot for a low key amazing cocktail that takes you back to the way back machine! We loved it! Beautiful decor and priceless!

It's been years since I last visited this place and I finally did again yesterday for lunch. As good as I remember it to be! Ambiance was so nice, service was great and fast. I had my favorite grilled cheese and tomato soup. Outstanding taste, position size, value for money! Highly recommended for a quick or long and lazy highlight for a workday! Will be back!

Romantic beautiful lounge, 1900's architecture is stunning! Happy hour was affordable!

Tucked inside the heart of the Sorrento Hotel is the Fireside Room. A super cozy and comfortable hidden gem in the heart of Capitol Hill. Each night before we headed out, my wife and I made this our first stop for a warm up cocktail before hitting the street. The bar itself is out eye view so who knows that the bartenders are doing behind the curtain, but whatever it is they are doing it right. The cocktails here are made to perfection. The Fireside Room is perfect for Seattle, I can't imagine a better place to relax with your favorite beverage on a rainy night. The irony of this is, it was sunny and in the 70's every day we were here.

First off - the Dunbar Room has the same menu. They're both nice spaces; I prefer the Fireside when I want to feel "like I'm around people" and the Dunbar for "intimacy," it's wonderful to have the choices! There's no better value than the Sorrento's bars. Especially at Happy Hour. It ain't even a question -- two house cocktails each, share the most delicious meatballs with a shrimp skewer and fries for $50? I said, "value." The bartenders are really good here, so that "house" cocktail is going to be delicious as well as "potent." ($7). All in an elegant setting with really good service . . . I live nearby and when I'm thinking about going to a pub to spend (4 beers & $7 plus two $16 entrees) . . . The Sorrento's pubs are worth it even when it's not "happy hour," but if you're in the area come Happy Hour . . . you owe it to yourself to dive on it!

Befuddlingly bad. Weak drink, weird service ("Would you like to order some food?" "We'd like to have a little time to think." 20 seconds later: "Well, would you like some food?"), and mediocre food. Prosciutto wrapped dates were tasty and at $3 per date they should be. Arancini were...weird. The tomato sauce tasted of raw onion and the arancini themselves, although crunchy, had no seasoning, not even salt. I almost never leave a bad review, but this place has been limping along for far too long now. So much missed potential.

Absolutely loved this spot. Originally planned to eat outside at Stella but sat in here due to the weather and so glad we did! Beautiful, intimate, mellow ambiance. Bonus points for pretty/tasteful Holiday decor. The cocktails, food, and dessert were all SO good. Highly recommend the almond chicken piccata or hazelnut steelhead fish for dinner entree. The caramel pear was unbelievably delicious. Great service. We will be back!

After more than 10 years of enjoying an annual holiday tea here together, today was a very sad experience where the staff and food were concerned. We will not be back, and look forward to finding a welcoming and quality experience at Queen Mary. Details: upon arrival stood just under 10 minutes at hostess stand before being acknowledged at all - even with multiple employees passing by us. Finally greeted by a very friendly gentleman who offered us a place to wait. When told they had 2 separate small round tables for us "we are sorry, hope this is ok", we said no we really planned our visit and mace our reservation together they responded as though we were unreasonable, apologized loudly to a nearby table about us "requiring the tables to be so tight together". When we moved back toward the entry to wait, there were multiple empty tables that could have easily seated 5 around the center sofa-and-table seating. When I asked if that might be easier, they huffed and walked away from me. Once seated...several scones were burned, champagne was warm, and tea was luke warm. We enjoyed our friends, at least!

Embrace your inner millionaire. I'm sure I can't afford to stay at the Sorrento but I can at least be treated like Donal Trump in the lobby. The Fireside Room is the lobby bar of the Sorrento and an adjunct of the Hunt Club bar and restaurant. Plush couches, tinkly piano and crisply dressed wait staff are poised to bring you the swank. The Tea service is elegant and sure to make you feel like the Queen of England(okay ,the king if need be). They also serve perfect cocktails and delicious appetizers. The anitpasto comes elegantly served in a fancy rack with many delicious treats like smoked salmon. The bar service is outstanding. They serve one of the very best martinis in town and can pretty muchmake what you want. I ordered a Pegu once, and though the bartender didn't know how to make it, the waiter asked me the ingredients and asked if she could give it a shot. The drink would be free if we didn't like it. The bartender scored a hit and probably added a new drink to her repetoire. How many places will do that? It's not the cheapest bar tab in town, but the elegant setting and snappy service will let you lhave your champagne wishes and caviar dreams(crap. Did I just date myself?)

Excellent service. Valentine's day was very expensive. $240 with tip. If I had to guess why, it's because a 5 piece band was killing it that night.

We stayed here for a couple nights as a fun staycation in Seattle. And let me tell you, the atmosphere here is A+. A classic, relaxing atmosphere next to a large fireplace, a 1920s style bar, and the gorgeous piano to match. I like my drinks a little less sweet and drier, so ended up ordering mostly off menu...the drinks taste good but a bit sweet for my taste. But get a boulvardier or a Manhattan and you'll be blown away by the solid showing. Not to mention how nice the staff is and how prompt they were with all our drinks despite it being a bit busy. Highly recommend as a great place to relax and have a fantastic craft cocktail.

Live contemporary piano /singing on a quiet Friday evening. We got the prime spot, right in front of the fireplace. We sat for a good few minutes, but no acknowledgement from anyone. Husband had to get up and track down a guy to get menus for us. It's a real cozy, hanging-out-in-my-grandpa's-humongous-cabin-in-the-woods kinda place. The drinks were fine, and we were left alone the entire time after we got our drinks. Great place to catch up or wind down without interruptions.

Aside from the kitchen being closed for remodeling, the drinks did not disappoint. Our waiter was very attentive, always brought water to each guest joining our large table and making sure he got our drink orders. Making up for the kitchen being closed, there was a list of restaurants near by that were either in walking distance or could be delivered. We used Postmates and had ordered food from Mariniation Station! Our waiter had brought us some utensils, we grabbed some plates we saw near by, and they were pretty cool about it. Our waters never went empty, or maybe I didn't notice because we were having a great time just reminiscing about a friend who had just passed away from breast cancer. She loved coming to the Sorrento for lunch, and loved sitting at the fireplace here. So, it was fitting to have a bit of a celebration of life gathering here, at one of her favorite places. A member of our party wanted to remember her by doing a karaoke song as part of our celebration. She didn't feel like singing to everyone in the main lounge so, she went up to the bar area (which has a door that could close) and the bartender was kind enough to let us use the room for 10 minutes as we did our thing. I first ordered a Wandering Angus Bloom cider. I had never heard of it, and being a fan of ciders, I had to try it. IT WAS SOOO GOOD! It wasn't too sweet, a tinsy bit dry (whish I prefer dry ciders anyway), and went down really nice. I even made a note of it to look for it when I'm at Total Wine and More (little advert). My second drink was a dirty martini with Tanqueray. Man, the olives in there were huge! My drink was just made perfectly. I would totally come back here again, the experience I had, the service and the atmosphere is worth going. I can't wait to come back when the kitchen is open to try the food. I am one of those that when it comes to good quality food, money isn't a problem.

I've visited the Fireside Room on 5 separate occasions in the past 2 years and have enjoyed it each time. I've attended the Silent Reading night multiple times (the first Wednesday of each month). I usually get to sit in a cozy chair in front of the fire where I usually order a glass of wine and a meat plate. In the past month, I have been here twice; once for a wedding and once for the Jazzy Brunch. The Jazzy Brunch was delectable! Jazz playing, while I visited with my friends over mimosas and a tiered platter of various cheeses, meats, and toasts. Our server was extremely kind and kept the coffee and mimosas flowing! You can order meats and cheeses for $9/plate, or a 3-tiered platter for $24. Their toasts are absolutely delicious as well; we ordered the avacado and onion. The french toast was great as well; all their bread is very tall! Tip: the french toast comes with jam only. If you order it, make sure to ask for a side of syrup. I took off one star because we arrived early and the woman at the booth in the main restaurant area was very inattentive to us and anybody else that walked in. Honestly, it's not that big of a deal, but it's nice to have a friendly and warm personality to greet you, rather than someone who doesn't look/act like she wants to be there. All in all though, we will definitely be back!

Very disappointing!!! Reserved a table for the holiday high tea at $39 per person. My friend has had many traditional high tea's where they keep bringing food till your full. NOT here. We literally got a half sandwhich worth of "savory" 1/4 of a scone and a few morsels of dessert. We were still so hungry so we ordered a tuna melt from the restaurant. It came on a tiny crescent roll which left us STILL hungry!!! Dont get me wrong, the food was good but after spending $100 after a few glasses of champagne I expect to at least leave with a full belly. Guess your paying for the great atmosphere. Also the waiter was super nice but totally inept. I mean how tough is it to keep teapots full of water???

Mary was great. Knowledgeable, friendly and fun. Tasty cocktails and great atmosphere. Hotel stay was nice. Will return next time we are in town.

I cant speak highly enough about this place. I love exploring the whiskey scene in Seattle and Travis brings a truly unique and fantastic rotation of spirits that cant be found elsewhere. His knowledge and great service add to the experience and the setting (wood paneled walls, fireplace, music, etc) make this one of my favorite places to grab a drink.

Who knew that hidden in downtown Seattle is an intimate little place for drinks and good food with a side of live music entertainment. I came here with a friend, ordered a glass of wine with some steak, and listened to live vocal jazz. I was in heaven that night. It's cozy and classy. Definitely a great date place.

The Fireside Room certainly topped the list for romance on our Seattle visit. We stayed at The Sorrento Hotel so naturally we would love to enjoy the rest of the hotels' amenities and offerings. I never thought, though, that I'd NEVER want to leave! The Fireside Room --- ambience, dimly lit, luscious woods, comfy seating and live music (FRIDAY was sultry jazz and SATURDAY was 40's fun). I had a glass of red wine but could have easily toasted with champagne or sipped on a martini. This place is swanky yet comfortable. I felt transported in time to place of total peace and relaxation. Did I mention ROMANCE? Definitely sets the mood (wink wink). They serve the entire Hunt Club Restaurant menu so you can dine and/or drink. The food is top-notch --- will make any foodie very happy! Seating is first available. Seat yourself. If you don't get a seat early, you may miss out because (just like my husband and me) once you are there, you NEVER want to leave! Enjoy!

Came here for the Wednesday Silent Reading event. Right from the second we sat down, we were made to feel tremendously awkward by our server, Peter. He informed us that the Fireside Room was going to be closed off for a private reading event at around six o'clock, to which we responded that we intended to stay for that. He said, "Oh, I suppose that will be alright but usually there is a guest list for it." We place our drink order and he saunters off in his very professional attire of 90's faded wash jeans. On our little side table we find a menu of events listing "Wednesday Silent Reading - open to the public." Our server arrived with our drinks and laid the faux graciousness on us thick. A few people carrying books trickled in over the next twenty minutes but the noise level in the room stayed pretty high until about 6:30. We attempted to read for a few minutes but were just so thrown off by the whole experience that we decided to bail. Unfortunately, we had already placed an order for a second round of drinks which we witnessed being carried out by our server to the group next to us. I am quite sure I was giving Peter's back death glares every time he walked away. We waited, we received our second round, we drank them, we paid and left and will never be back. The price here for a Grey Goose tonic is outrageous. I was quite intrigued by the silent reading concept and the room itself was lovely but am severely disappointed by my experience. It shocked me how atrocious the service was at this reputed luxury hotel.

The Fireside Room is true to its name. The fireplace inside makes for a very cozy place to kick back and relax with a nice Bourbon on the rocks. Bartenders are very people friendly. Perfect spot to take a special someone!

We went for holiday tea again this year! We arrived at 2:30 by accident - in sea dog 1:30 - but the amazing servers Jen and Eric, and Thomas (their non-server helper), set up our table and we were able to still have tea. The food was DELICIOUS - especially the savories, the eclair, and the blueberry tartlette. Service was impeccable even though they were so busy. They were always ready with a smile and more hot water. Plus, you can't beat the atmosphere of the Hotel Sorrento or the Fireside Room - especially with all the decorations and the live pianist. Go. Have tea or happy hour. Enjoy the ambiance and the amazing staff. Relax. It's so worth the trip.

I was excited to have a drink at the Fireside Room, but when we got there, the only table for two was dirty. We sat there anyway and waited for over ten minutes before anyone came to clean it for us. Then the waitress took our drink order and disappeared. We saw people who came in after us get served before us. I would normally be patient if I saw the waitstaff running around helping others, but this was not the case. They just were not serving anyone in the room for the most part. We wound up sitting there for over fifteen minutes before giving up and walking out. I would've told the staff to cancel our drink orders, but we looked around and there was literally no one in the bar to tell. I felt bad, but I expect way better service from such a fancy place, especially on a Saturday night with a live band when you know a decent number of people will be there.

Cozy and mature. I mean that in a good way, although the median age range here seems to be between 30-55+. If your looking to just have an intimate place to sit and chat in rustic wood furniture in a mellowed ambiance then pull into a plush seat or better yet, sit near the fireplace if you can. On certain nights they do offer piano music in the background along with silent reading nights where you can cozy up with a book. The food and drink can be easily skipped as its over-priced. Don't waste your $6 on the glass of wine on my advice. Service is random, the waitress forgot several times our order. This is probably a better place for the hotel patrons to come down and bunk in.

built in 1908, the sorrento hotel, the host of the fireside room, is an exquisitely trimmed-up institution with lots of wood and a piano lounge with lots of pillows. It has a certain dark and comforting- womblike -feel to it, but I'd like to let you experience this place for yourself. NOTABLE (thx mary for this bit) -- Put up US$55k , (get a loan and then file bankruptcy, duh!) and you can have a very nice weekend with your (flabbergasted) new fiancee. ---- -----and KEEP THE TIFFANY CUTLERY. -----no really. its included.---- oh , and I think that the KING SALMON BLT was the best sandwich I've ever eaten.

When its time for a classy night out, I either start or end at the Fireside Room. Wow this slightly fancy bar in the lobby of the Sorrento Hotel is awesome, with live music on the weekends and great bites or full plates! The drinks have always been great, and even though service can get a little slow if the room is full, the servers and managers have always been more than courteous. Its slightly pricey, and once I ended up bringing people for just drinks and the music, but people got hungry and started ordering food. The bill can get a little outrageous if you eat a full meal and have drinks, but I think overall it is worth it. I would always recommend coming for a few drinks to kick an evening off or wind one down.

I come here (now called The Dunbar Room) monthly for the Silent Reading Party that starts at 6pm. The service isn't as attentive as you would expect; it usually takes a good 20-30 minutes before I am acknowledged and handed a menu. Forget trying to get a timely refill on your drink. The food is WAY overpriced, and not really delicious either. I usually eat here out of convenience, but after two poor experiences, I think I will stop by Jimmy John's or the Sugar Bakery on my way here next time. On my last visit, I arrived at the happy hour that occurs from 4-6pm and ordered a glass of house cabernet ($7) and the cheesy fries ($8). The fries were disgusting, but the white cheese sauce-- which I asked to be served on the side-- was delicious! However, for the price, I should have received a MUCH larger serving of fries! Instead, I received what was basically equivalent to a small fast food order of fries, and they were shriveled, limp, mostly dark brown, overly greasy, and cold. Yuck. The wine was decent, but I noticed on the happy hour menu passed around for the Reading Party that the cost of the same glass of wine was $6; when my check came, I was charged the higher price. I understand my order was rung up on the POS system prior to 6pm, but still felt my server could have done me the courtesy of voiding it and ringing it at the lower price, since she had offered to do that if I ordered two additional plates of food to qualify for the 3 for $20 "deal." I'll pass on food here next time and make sure to order my wine after 6pm.

Afternoon tea is surprisingly private in this lounge, with heavy carpet/cushioned chairs/dimmed lights. Tea items are fresh and sweets not overly sweet. I think it's comparable to the one at the Georgians in all except maybe the decor style/different tea selections. Great service. $32 base price. Nightly live musical performances (we love OB), oversized stuffed chairs, fireplace going strong, and good menu of quality appetizer and desserts (the three-flavored creme brulee was very good, ~$15) and a full bar makes this one of our favorite places to hang out and unwind.

I am the Concierge in a retirement community and taking seniors out is part of my job. We've come here many times before and have had the best Bloody Mary (mine was virgin, of course) in town. The fish and chips are the lightest and fluffiest I've ever had. The service is always above and beyond with seniors having all sorts of persnickety needs! All of that was still wonderful last Monday night. But I have to say something about the art on the walls - it was so offensive and out of place. There were actual pictures of women dressed up for an evening looking drunk and sloppy. One picture has a woman's face being pushed into another womans looking like she's being assaulted from behind while she looks drunk as a skunk. Another shows a woman laughing with her mouth wide open; I think she has a cavity. Another shows breasts and a rear end that even the old men in our group, who most likely haven't gotten any in a long time, thought was abhorrent. These photos are pictures of wealthy middle-aged white women who have way too much time on their hands - no diversity here. These photos are very offensive and sexist and absolutely do not fit in with the beautiful dark wood and lodge-y feeling of the Fireside Room! Whoever is picking out the art should get a new job and the hotel needs to return appropriate art to this magnificent Seattle landmark pronto!

When you need a touch of class in your life, the Fireside Lounge can provide it. No need to dress up nicely even though its located in a 5-star hotel and if you're lucky, you might see a celebrity or two walk through the lobby. Dinner, desserts, drinks and an occasional live piano player all combine to make you wonder, "Why hasn't someone told me about this place before?" Well. I just did.

A little overpriced but the food was fantastic, the beer was great, the company was my favorite part but I may be a little bit biased. And the five overall was great, have a lot of fun, will probably go here again. Right next to Virginia Mason so if you have any meetings here are conferences here this is a great after party place. Check it out.

I will soon require more Fireside Room. It is an Octagon, it has wood paneling, and it has a very wide selection of couches to choose from. Do you care to sit with a lady in a sort of wide one-ish love-seater couch? Do you prefer a larger size? Or are you with the boys and want to talk shop from big manly chairs. And there is just as many chairs as drinks. Just a super vibe here. I had Megan's Manhattan which was perfectly done and I sampled said lady's Bubbly Blond which tasted like the little Strawberry Short Cake doll smelled like when I was maybe 5 years old. One complaint, too brightly lit. I was there on a Monday, maybe that's just a Monday thing. I'll be back. Love this place.

It is so comfy. I feel like I'm in my rich Grandpa's palace lounge. The couches are like pillows, the ambience is dimly lit (looooove), there's live music (looooove), the furniture and decor is vintage, and... ...I'm surrounded by old people. I don't care I love it. Perfect place for a chill spot for good ambience, good food/drinks, and good conversation. This is how I do my afterparties. ;) But really.

I really like this place, with a few caveats. The room itself it gorgeous - warm and cozy, and perfect for a drizzly winter night. It's usually never too crowded, the valets are friendly, and there's live music on Saturday nights which is absolutely fantastic. The happy hour menu is also quite reasonable (esp. the two lamb chops for $5. Heavenly!). The cons? Service. Holy cow. Bad bad bad. It took forever to place an order. When the wait staff finally showed up, the gal seemed downright confused and spaced out. Even though we explained that we were going to order a lot of food, she stood there blankly, and let us start placing our order before stating, "Um ... I should probably go get a pen." She proceeded to act thoroughly inconvenienced by our order. Another server brought us a drink, and when we explained we hadn't ordered it, said we could keep it. We thanked her, and then 2 minutes later she came back and said, "Actually, it's for that table." She then took our free drink over to another table (not checking to see if maybe we had taken a sip in the time she had left it). It was downright unhygienic.

I'm done with this place. I've been coming periodically for years and experienced everything from Afternoon Tea to dinners to musical performances. The service gets worse and worse, and it's not the servers' fault. It's just really, really, really bad (cheap) management. I went tonight for a holiday show. When the musicians arrived, no place had been set aside for them to set up their instruments. Huh? How do you not prepare a space for musicians you've hired to play? Once they got set up and started playing, there was nary a server to be found. Some people waited 30 minutes just to get drinks ordered, and sometimes another 30 to order food. Tempting as it is to blame the servers, it's not their fault. The place is ALWAYS understaffed. That's management's job. This is supposed to be a high-end place. This particular band always fills the house, so planning should be pretty simple. Not so, apparently. The service is better at Olive Garden. It was crappy before new ownership and has remained crappy since. They've at least restored the banquette and some additional sofas to give it a warmer feel than it had just after the remodel, but I didn't come to sit on sofas. I came for drinks, a meal, and a good show. Speaking of the show. It was FABULOUS despite the way the band was treated. Rumors in the world of musicians are that the pay for this gig is among the lowest anywhere in town. If true, that would be truly abusive, because tonight's band, Nikki Dee, filled the place and had folks up and dancing at the end. Most everyone around me ordered lots of food AND drinks. When it was time to pay, they had conflated my bill with my table mate's. The server said "you didn't say to split it." Given that I only spoke with a server 4 times the entire 2.5 hours I was there, I didn't have much time to say anything! Then she told me my credit card wouldn't go through. Another patron whispered "don't worry, mine didn't either." I gave the server another card and checked my bank balance in a panic when I got home. There was absolutely no reason for my card not to go through. I loved the music, but the rest was a s***show. Not going back.

Wear your little black dress, some dainty gloves, or maybe a rose in your ear. This place deserves you looking your best and, in exchange, it offers some of the best desserts, and scotches. My boyfriend and I call this a place where "we love eachother" because it never fails to end the evening on a good note. Enjoy!

The Fireside Room operates at a different pace. The servers may take a bit you get to you, but when they do you might as well be the only person in the world. So conscientious, with a flare for old fashioned. Beautiful inferior with a gorgeous fireplace. All of the seating is incredibly comfortable, I highly recommend! Great place for an intimate chat. Not the type of place to visit if you are in a hurry or high maintenance.

We stopped by for happy hour--a wet June night. Plopped down into some oversized leather chairs near the fireplace and got treated to one of my friends performances in the lounge. What a treat! They are great and we didn't even have to pay a cover! After a 100 years, this remains a fabulous place to sit in style and drink some stylish drinks.

This lounge is within the historic Sorrento Hotel. It seems from the outside that it will be a classy place, and it is. The interior is warm and plush. The drinks were inventive (Makers and Campari meld together nicely in one version). Service both times I have been has been subdued, but that is the vibe of this place. Go to relax for a few hours, not for one quick drink. They also offer live music some evenings.

So much fun if you feel like dressing up a little and really going out. Cheezy but quality live piano lounge music, great cocktails, and even some good food. Expensive, so expect to spend $50 on drinks alone.

Comfy and old fashioned. Service was inattentive. A decent place to lounge and sip on overpriced tea. Wanted to experience a more blazing fire given the name.

Decided to treat myself to a stay at a nice hotel when my husband was a patient at Virginia Mason. If you ask, they have a patient rate which is less than their lowest rate and this amazing hotel is only about $20 more expensive than the Inn at VM which is nice but not in this class. I needed something for dinner after I left the hospital so wandered in to the Fireside room. Quiet and peaceful and no one cared I was alone. They have a full menu and bar service which lets you eat and drink without being a party of one in the main dining room. Besides it's far more casual which was great since I was in jeans. They give you a wine cork when you check in which gives you a free glass of wine, I did need that, and then ordered probably the best bowl of clam chowder I'd ever had. Filled with lots of clams including some in the shell and the best part was that it wasn't so thick you needed to almost chew it. The broth was just the right thickness and texture to make it satisfying when i was pretty stressed. Once my husband is on his feet, we're coming here for a stay and a full meal.

I had a chance to visit the Fireside Room to partake in this month's silent reading. It's a lot cozier than your typical bar. A fireplace blazes in one corner, couches and armchairs skirt the room, and two-seater tables are arranged in a circle about the centre. Happy hour prices are a score: $5 sangria and $7 Manhattans! Drinks are on the pricier side if you come at any other time. The Fireside Room certainly feels more like a hunting lodge than a slick metropolitan bar--and that can be the best thing in the world depending on your mood for the evening.

The waitress was polite and friendly. Service was slow with only two parties including mine. Food for afternoon tea was bland, dry, hard, or disgustingly sweet. The tea was okay. Fireside room is great but not worth returning.

This is one of my favorite chill lounges in town...my go too place for meeting friends before the night gets started! It also has a great afternoon tea service.You cant beat the atmosphere here!
