"With the closure of the Fish Market restaurants in Palo Alto and San Mateo comes the inevitable auction of restaurant keepsakes and kitchen equipment. The Fish Market has split its items into two auctions; those looking to pick up a salamander or a flat griddle can view the kitchen goods at localauctions.com. Meanwhile, those excited to bring home one of the restaurants’ many mounted fish replicas or artwork can head here. Aspiring bidders will need to move quickly, as the auction ends at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26." - Dianne de Guzman

Probably one of the best spots around San Mateo for a casual meal or feeding a large group. There's lots of large tables amongst tons of smaller tables with a great view of the waterfront. Parking is ample and you usually don't need to wait long for a table if you didn't make a reservation. The seafood itself is fresh enough and always seasoned well. The menu goes from affordable to fancy, but overall it's a good value. Service is fine and the manager will do their best to make sure your meal is to your satisfaction (within reason). Both times I've been here, the outside is normally better kept than inside, so get a seat on the patio if you can help it.

Well worth it! The food was delicious. Even the shrimp in the cocktail appetizer had a really good flavor. You can tell it, and the scallops were really fresh. The ciopino had a great flavor. Sitting right on the inlet coming in from the bay adds to the ambiance. Amazing strawberry mint fresh lemonade, and great finishing touch with hazelnut chocolate mousse.

Got seating on patio with great views but got a bit chilly in the evening. Starters were great, loaded Rockefeller oyster, quite small piece of octopus for $19. Had halibut which was very good but pricy for what it was $42. Service was outstanding.

Always good food, and best clam chowder... yes, expect to pay a little more, but worth it. The menus are printed with the fresh fish of the day. It's a great place to go for special occasions or just when you want something special.

A great experience. The restaurant sits by the saltwater so I was greeted by the smell as I exited the car. I grew up with the smell of saltwater and it is something I dearly miss living landlocked in the Midwest. The restaurant is comfortable and spacious. There are nice nooks and crannies so you feel as if you're dining in a smaller place. My granddaughter and I had fish - Canadian cod - and chips. The fish was battered lightly making the pieces firm and light. The coleslaw had an extra little tang I really liked. My daughter had the Cobb Salad. The veggies were crisp and tasty. A prefect lunch.

This location on the water is such a fun treat! It’s tucked away on San Mateo and has two stories, the back patio is so cute by the water. We went on a weekday for happy hour (which is only at the bar) and it was fairly quiet at 5pm, by 730 pm it was a third full. Apparently on the weekends there could be up to a one hour wait! Makes reservations for the patio -its a highly desirable spot! Not many gluten free options. I ordered the Sole, cauliflower (delicious balsamic reduction) and green beans (boiled over cooked, pearl onions were delectable)! I’d come back just for the views!

We were happy that we found this restaurant. Great prices and they also have a kids menu. We dined outdoors, in a beautiful setting, with a great view of the water. Our server was wonderful. Our food was delicious! In a relaxing environment. -Regina
