The food was right. Six out of 10 according to my wife. They just fried the fish and the scallops and the oysters and slapped it on a bed of fries. The best part of the meal was the french fries. Due to the Donation of culture across America, there is very little artistic flare to the various cuisines. We expected a special coastal flair. However, it was plain regular fried fish without any special spices or condiments. The restrooms are clearing. The parking is free. The location is nice with the water around the restaurant. There are various jams and jellies that you can purchase which has been package, especially for them with their labels.

Google
Beautiful hidden gem! We got a dozen fresh oysters and the local catch of the day fish and chips. Very lovely crunch and the fries were perfect! We sat outside with the beautiful water view and sun! It was lovely! Staff was friendly and the inside is super cute with little different things to buy and so many fresh seafood options! Will 100% be back!

Google
The chowder bread bowl was phenomenal! The line can get long especially if you're just trying to by something or if the fish counter or gift shop if there is just one line. Love being able to eat inside or outside. The outside view is great because you're basically on a pier looking over the water.

My wife and I have been visiting The Fish Peddler Pacific Oyster for years, and it's consistently one of our favorite seafood places in the area. They have fresh, high-quality seafood, and their portions are generous. We recently had lunch there on a Sunday, and even though it was busy, we didn't have to wait too long for a table. We ordered the Fried Oysters, Oyster Stew, and Captain Sampler, and everything was delicious. The portions were so large that we had leftovers to take home. We also ordered the clam chowder and fresh cocktail shrimp to go, and those were both excellent as well. If you're looking for a great seafood restaurant with fresh, delicious food and friendly service, I highly recommend Fish Peddler Pacific Oyster.

Google
Absolutely the best! We were on vacation for 5 days on the coast in Rockaway Beach and ate here 3 different times. They hooked us with the bread bowl clam chowder! It makes my mouth water just writing this! The clams, oysters and fish & chips were also excellent. The people are friendly and helpful. It looks like they like working there, which makes it that much better for customers. It doesn't look like anything special from the outside, but it is special. If you're on the Oregon coast, it's worth searching out. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Fish Peddler

Google
Best clam chowder I’ve ever had. So good that we came back the next day to try it in the bread bowl — the sourdough goes SO well with the soup too!! The second day we came back, the kitchen was backed up so we waited in line ~20 minutes before ordering. Worth it though, and the cashier gave us a 10% discount for our patience!!

Google
Fun dive to grab dinner with your dog. 🐕 Excellent service, well made food and killer views! 🌊 Moderately allergy friendly (gluten and dairy free options available), but skip the wine. 🍺 LOL Go for a walk on the jetty and watch the sunset, if you time it correctly. 🌅 Kilchis Point Reserve nearby is also excellent & totally accessible. 👩🏻‍🦽

Google
Really reasonable seafood. We got a dozen oysters on the half shell and steamer clams. I’d give a five stars, but there were shell pieces in every oyster. A lot.

Rylen F.

Yelp
We came here to purchase fresh fish. We haven't tried the restaurant, What can I say but, Yay, fresh fresh fresh! The rockfish was delicious. The staff was helpful, and knowledgeable.

John W.

Yelp
The Fish Peddler is a solid choice for a fish and chip meal. The halibut fish and chips had a nice batter coating and the coated fries were good. The cioppino was good, although it seems a bit ketchupy. The thing I've been noticing about some of the better reviewed fish and chips on the coast (including the version here) is the tendency to use the smaller fish ends and not the meatier parts of the fish. It's still good but makes it a bit less so.

Roze N.

Yelp
Glad we drove past the main touristy spots to this gem right off the water. They're picnic tables out front and lots of seating inside. Restroom spic and span too. Whoot whoot. Staff was super from taking order to pick up window. Extra oyster crackers, you got it...Tabasco and cocktail sauce, grab a bottle for your table :) Chowder was delish w good chunks of tatoes and clams. That fish and chips tasted freshly battered and fried too. Yaaaaas!

Ray G.

Yelp
Went here today on a sunny not so busy day. Simple but very good. Best clam chowder I've had in while. Fish tacos tasty and the oysters perfect. I recommend it

Juan S.

Yelp
Got me a clam chowder while visiting town. It's been a while since I was here last and chowder still delicious. Too bad my son is moving from area. I will miss this place until next time I visit area.

B. I.

Yelp
Such a disappointment. The food was terrible. Poor quality ingredients, overcooked prawns, and tasteless broth. The clam chowder was way too thick, and starchy. We threw away most of our lunch.

Aya L.

Yelp
Stopped here on our way from Portland to Tillamook and wow, this is some of the best seafood we've ever experienced. Everything they offer is pretty much local and fresh. The serving size for the price is awesome and there's seating outside so you can enjoy your food while looking at the river! The customer service was actually wonderful and my husband has been thinking about this place ever since we went!! We had the rock fish and he 10/10 recommends! Definitely give this place a chance, you will not regret it!

Melani S.

Yelp
Really wanted to find a place with great seafood since we are on the coast, and not too many options in and around these areas. Came here based on the reviews and it was pretty good. The service was great. Super friendly and let us take menus and then walk up to the counter to order when we were ready. We got a few different things to try. The clam chowder was good and perfect for the breezy weather, the crab and shrimp melt had great flavor and my son and hubby enjoyed the catch of the day fish and chips. They said it wasn't the best they have had but good. We give it a solid 3.5 stars. Not the best seafood but a decent place with a nice view- they also sell local beers and merch, which was super cool.

Jenning L.

Yelp
We ordered the fish and chips, clam chowder and fresh oysters. Our least favorite was the fish and chips, we're not used to the lack of breading on the fish and the taste was mediocre. Their clam chowder and oysters on the other hand were way more worth it in my opinion. Clam chowder was thick and savory. The oysters were fresh and came with lemon and horseradish. The restaurant is on the bay and has a nice view.

Christine B.

Yelp
The quintessential Oregon coast fish market and restaurant. Super friendly staff. Yummy lunch and we purchased bay shrimp and chowder to bring back to our cabin. Both were excellent !

John B.

Yelp
Don't let the looks deceive you, the restaurant is on its own pier, but what a diamond in the rough! This is the 2nd time we've stopped here for lunch / dinner. We always try something different and some standbys. The oysters on the half shell is always a winner... they melt in your mouth! This time my wife tried the Crab and Shrimp Louie and I had the captains Sampler. They were so good, I cannot describe how big the portions were but you won't go home hungry. This is our place to stop and eat every time we go to the coast,

Cesar D.

Yelp
This was a great find in Bay City. It's off the road on a bay. They have a small sea food shop with indoor seating. Some spots have a view of the bay and some are down an enclosed hallway. On the tables they have a large cocktail sauce, owners recipe, it's very good. You can also purchase various local products within the shop. They have a handful of beers on tap. You can also take your food outside and enjoy the view from the bay. Well the fish and chips were amazing, sorry for not having a pic, the chowder is very good, we had a few servings, we also tried the seafood melt, wow you need to try this. Very tasty. They serve the food with fries, we enjoyed our food with a beer. Everything that we tried had good flavor and for as busy as they were we did not wait much in-line or for our food. This is going to be out go to for coastal fish and chips.

Amy M.

Yelp
The deep fried oysters were hecka hot and delicious, some of the best I've ever had, nice and crispy. The two ladies were super friendly and came by checking on us and asking if we needed more since we had ordered the all you can eat. Great price for oysters on the coast. It was raining pretty hard so we didn't get to see what was out and about the place, was nice inside and there were a few tables to sit at.... High bar type tables and also smaller tables... Will be back next time I'm in the area

Trin N.

Yelp
Go pass Tillamook factory and head here! Its only 2 miles away. Great customer service and fresh seafood.

Cheryl B.

Yelp
We both had the fish and chips and I would rate the fish - perfection! Crispy, yummy batter and tender, moist and flaky fish. I also had the oyster stew - chock full of oysters that had been cooking so long they just fell apart. Yum!

Linda W.

Yelp
First, the food: I had the clam chowder, raw oysters, and steamed clams. the clam chowder was alright. it was edible but not great. the clams were tender but could have used more seasoning, and the oysters were amazing! They were tender, fresh, and the perfect size. The shop/restaurant itself was nothing special but there was nothing off-putting about it either. There are quite a few tables for the size of the place The noise level was pretty low but they weren't busy either. The service was the worst part of this experience. There were 4 different people that I saw working and not one of them was friendly or personable, including the person helping me at the counter.

Megan L.

Yelp
Fun and unique place to get seafood if you're in the area. It's small but right on the water and the seafood is fresh. They also have a bunch of fresh seafood packaged to go. I ordered the crab and shrimp melt and that was really good and it comes with fries.

Ellen K.

Yelp
My favorite place on the coast! Great staff, great food and totally worth the stop! Great variety of fresh seafood that you can buy to take home too!

Keith H.

Yelp
An unexpected day off work allowed for a quick detour to the Oregon Coast. A local guidebook suggested this seafood shack just off the beaten path on a crumbling pier in Bay City. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that dissuade you. The menu had multiple promising items, including Cioppino, razor clams and rockfish and chips. It was a dilemma, but I ultimately went with the dozen fried oyster basket and a bowl of chowder. Order from the counter (and be sure to find out the daily special), then wait for a few minutes before you pick it up. There's a little gift shop area with all sorts of local trinkets to peruse in the meantime. The chowder was top notch, with a rich smokiness and heartiness that gives Ivar's in Seattle a run for its money. The oysters were simply excellent. While the breading was a tad too dense for my taste, the oysters were amongst the largest, juiciest and freshest I've had--I wouldn't be surprised if they had been harvested that morning. With a cold beer, it was a highly satisfying meal. There are tables outside overlooking the water or just eat in the decent sized dining room. Definitely recommended. (4.25 stars).

Emily K.

Yelp
We popped by this place after realizing that most places nearby close early! This is a walk-up order place, and the guy at the register was very friendly. I ordered the fish and chips but with sweet potato fries while my husband got the crab melt. We both felt like our meals were good but not mind blowing! I will say our food did come out very quickly which was nice. I think the Cole slaw was lack luster for me, and the tartar sauce more mayonnaise than tart, if that makes sense. But not a bad place for a quick lunch!

Kate B.

Yelp
Used to love this place, I could always count on them to source excellent quality local products. Now I'm not sure. The Clam chowder is very good. Bought some whole crab, they have always been very good. These were extremely salty and not in a good way. I'm not sure what happened? I love smoked salmon, so bought the Fish Peddler brand of smoked salmon (original brand). Luckily, I was eating it myself (not serving it to guests) and wondered what was wrong with it. I look at the package, it is made out of Keta Salmon, Google describes it as Dog or Chum Salmon. Alaskans feed this species to their dogs. There is dye in this brand, why would you need dye in smoked salmon? It does not taste good!

Nancy D.

Yelp
Stars of the show were the fresh oysters and clam chowder by far. Cute little fish shop by the water for fresh quality fish. Stopped by on while visiting Portland after visiting Tilamook creamery. Clam chowder (5/5): the biggest chunks of fresh clams with creamy, thick chowder base. It hit the spot on a cold rainy Oregon day. Came with 2 packs of oyster crackers and came in a cup or bowl size. Half dozen oysters (5/5): a bit pricey at $15 for a half dozen but so fresh and worth every penny since I had a craving for it. Not sandy at all and expertly shucked. Came with horseradish and lemons. Fish and chips (3/5): good but nothing special - made from rock fish. The breading isn't as flaky or golden as I'm used to. Fries were good and coleslaw was a little lackluster. Raisins in it was an interesting take. Table had variety of hot sauces and a huge bottle of cocktail sauce. There's also beers on tap and big cans you can buy to go along with your seafood feast. Lots of indoor seating with a nice view of the bay.

Yelp
Exquisite food. Super chill ambiance. Friendly service. FRESH. Fish and chips was chef's kiss for me.

Yelp
A great find! We came for a late lunch after stopping at Tillamook and heading north. Quick turn off 101 and we came to this nice place on the water. It also has a cold case with fresh seafood and shelves of seasoning, jars of sauces, pickles, you name it! Inside there's tables for dining in- you order and find a seat. The The bathrooms are clean and fresh smelling. Even though it was after 2 pm, there was a steady stream of eager customers. I can understand why... the food here is great! And there's beer on tap. There is a board above the cold case which tells you where the seafood is sourced from. The food... *Bowl of oyster stew ($9). Thinner than I expected but full of oysters and seasoned nicely. It was very good. *Cup of clam chowder ($5). A "cup" was more like a smaller bowl-was a nice sized portion. And it is the BEST clam chowder I've had on the Oregon coast! It was thick but not overly potato-y and pasty, not overly salty like some other chowders I've had and it was chock full of tender clam. Loved the seasoning and bacon flavor. In other word- perfect. *Crab cocktail- didn't look a lot but looks can be deceiving, it was a big portion of sweet fresh crab! They packed it full! A good value for $10.75 *crab and shrimp melt with fries Bay shrimp and crab with melted cheese between butter toasted bread. They weren't chintzy with the crab and shrimp and it was delicious! The fries were so good- lightly battered and very crispy. Recommend this. * beer on tap $6 - had the Widmer Hefeweizen We left happy and full- best lunch we had on this trip!

Yelp
We've stopped in here many times to pick up oysters on our way home from the coast. Today, we decided to order food as well. We got there around 4 and waited in line to order. When it was our turn, the lady informed us that we could order, but they didn't have any indoor seating. I asked about the many tables towards the back and was informed that area was closed and we would have to sit outside. There was 4-5 people in line behind us, so I told her it was odd that they would shut down half the tables when they had a lobby full of people, but okay we would sit outside, She told me her staff were all leaving at 5, so they couldn't keep seating people. It was a little after 4. We waited a while for our food and then sat down to eat outside. When we were almost done I went to go back inside for water and to go to the bathroom and they had locked us out. The seating was full inside and people kept coming in, so they just locked the door. It was only 4:45 and they closed at 5. I was shocked! A guy was standing next to me and his food buzzer was going off and he couldn't even go in to get his food. After spending $150 there they just locked us out.

Yelp
Great fish and chips chowder is really delicious 5 star. Love this place, they have seafood market too.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch after visiting Tillamook Creamery (a must go as well!). Having only tried oysters once in my life, I wanted to know what oysters from the coast would taste like. It's a quick stop located right along the bay, with outdoor and indoor seating. They had a variety of seafood options, from fresh oysters, clams - bread bowls, platter, soups, etc. Ordering was at the counter and super quick, and we got our food within 15 minutes. We ordered the sampler platter, fish and chips, and several fresh oysters. Overall - food was pretty good. Fish was battered lightly and nice and crispy; fries were also similarly battered. Fish was flaky and had good flavor, tasted really fresh. The oysters themselves were pretty good - tasted as "fresh" as my untrained palette could tell, and were served alongside lemon wedges and tabasco sauce. My best description would be to say that they tasted "like the ocean". Coleslaw was a nice side addition and wasn't too wet or overly creamy. Was a nice place to stop by for lunch, especially with outdoor seating. Pricing was reasonable. Unfortunately didn't get to try any other coastal seafood places, so no basis of comparison, but I enjoyed the Fish Peddler a lot!

Lori H.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on our way home from a lovely week in Oceanside. Since it's located on a dock over the bay, we thought they must have fresh fish! Lovely view from inside or outside the establishment. There are tables and chairs inside and picnic tables outside. Plenty of parking out front. Restrooms available inside as well. After reviewing the menu, we ordered a jumbo shrimp cocktail, half dozen oysters on the helf shell, half dozen fried oysters, cup of chowder, and halibut and chips. My husband liked the oysters...said they were fresh. The shrimp cocktail was yummy and fresh. The chowder was flavorful and thick. The halibut and chips were just okay. The fries were good, but we didn't really care for the breading on the halibut, and they were greasy. The more fish and chips we eat, the more we prefer a panko breading. It's lighter and holds less oil. Overall we enjoyed our lunch and will definitely stop in again. Highly recommend.

Dex A.

Yelp
Well, here's the thing. I had the oyster Po Boy. My wife had one of my oysters. Later that night I was VERY sick and my wife was a little sick. So, no we're not going to chance it again. The service was friendly and it was a cool place to go. The food was under seasoned and just okay. We've had much better.

Anthony C.

Yelp
A nice little fish shop in Tillamook on the way to Rockaway Beach. Kind employees and great service. Doesn't take long to get the food out either. The oysters are delicious and generous. The battered shrimp tasted great as well. I recommend the clam chowder as that is always a favorite of beach goers and they make it just right. Seating is limited inside but extended out in the front.

Connie C.

Yelp
Delicious stop on the Oregon coast! Ask for what is local and fresh. Today was all you can eat fish and chips for $17.99. It was only $2 more than the original basket. The first two baskets were over fried but the third was juicy and perfect!! Walked along the Pier after lunch. Delightful place to stop!

Roberta L.

Yelp
Came here for lunch while on a day trip to the Oregon coast. We just got back from Tillamook factory tour and wanted some seafood. The pier on which this place is located looks pretty run down and we initially missed the turn and had to drive pretty far down before we could u-turn on a viewpoint on the highway. Parking: free on the pier. Walked in and there were many people there. You order and the counter and they give you a buzzer and the water is self serve. The half shell oysters were tasty and clean! Small Pacific oysters I believe. Fried oysters: they use the fattier ones which had much more bitter tasting areas. I would pass on this next time. Clams: super yummy and had a very good amount of clams that came with. I would def come back to eat here next time in Oregon

Deb K.

Yelp
Line was really long so we were glad at called ahead! Waitress took us right to the front of the line to pay and had our meals ready to go! Large clam chowder is huge! 32 ounces! Get a side of sour dough and you got the equivalent of two clam chowder bread bowls! Fried oysters and meals were good too!

Dave C.

Yelp
This 5 star review is mostly for the fish and chips. Perfectly flaky and not greasy. Great find right on a pier. The girl at the counter was very friendly and let us take our time figuring out what we wanted. I heard the clam chowder was great but didn't have a chance to try it. Next time I drive 3000 miles across country, I'll try some.

Nic L.

Yelp
The picture may be deceiving. Everything may look scrumptious, but since when does Dungeness crab get served with something that doesn't even resemble butter. It's "butter" green in color and tastes more like olive oil. There is a bit of irony, since location is so close to the Tillamook creamier. The crab is way over steamed! Most likely previously frozen.

Kacie D.

Yelp
Great location and plenty of parking. They have outside seating with a nice view of Tillamook Bay. Clam Chowder was great, not a grain of sand in the clams. Friendly staff.

Tom S.

Yelp
Great combination of fish market and sit-down restaurant. Basic atmosphere and not too fancy, but very nice and the food is inexpensive and outstanding. You can even take some home. Good service and pleasant staff. Worth a visit!

Ju S.

Yelp
The best clam chowder and fresh oyster Good service so fast And you can eat at outside and inside

Bob C.

Yelp
The food is great seafood and also have a market. I had the Chowder and we both had the Shrimp and Crab Louie salads. It order at the cashier pay and find a seat.. need more seating Sometimes but with the wait

Van H.

Yelp
Food was really good and fresh. They have a wide selection of fresh seafood to buy. Restaurant is nice and clean. Friendly service. Will be back!

Gianna N.

Yelp
We came here to eat on our road trip to Oregon from California. This was recommended by our friend who frequents the place and lives in Idaho. What can I say food is great and price it not that cheat but worth what you will get. A bonus is its in some kind of a pier overlooking the ocean. Parking is abundant so no worries. Recommended.

Troy H.

Yelp
When I lived in Portland, I would jaunt out here for a special lunch when the craving for Nehalem Bay oysters on the half-shell hit. So good. The only ones better are Yakima Bay. Fried scallops are also tasty when I'm in the mood for something fried. Fries have a really nice flavor and consistency that pair well with one of the beers. Clam chowder is also top notch, with only one better on the OR coast. Great place to pick up seafood from the deli, so I would also puck up dungeness crabs on my lunch trips. Now I live out of state, but will go out of my way when visiting our Newport store to enjoy!

Barbara K.

Yelp
Everything from service to the food was so incredible! The fried oysters were the absolute 100% best I have ever had in my 63 years of life!! Garlic bread was on point. Wine was local and From Ecola Winery and so cold and delicious. I want to just live here and eat here every single day for the rest of my life !

Camille H.

Yelp
Delicious clam chowder, honestly one of my favorites I've ever had on the Oregon coast. Cute little seafood market shop that has a lot of seafood options and also little sauces and such that you can purchase. Service was friendly and fast, I definitely recommend checking this place out!

Annika P.

Yelp
We had another great lunch here, nearly a year and a half after our first. We had the halibut fish and chips, which were really tasty. The fries were fresh and perfectly textured, and I still love the coleslaw. All our food came out quickly, and we loved eating outside in the sunshine. We'll definitely be back the next time we find ourselves at the coast again.

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
I was impressed when I visited The Fish Peddler 5+ years ago, and I was equally impressed with today's visit. My wife and I weren't super hungry, so we each got our own "cup" of clam chowder, and then split an order of halibut fish & chips. The chowder came filled to the top of decent size paper bowls, and it was quite delicious. The broth was thick, yet not pasty, and it was full of clams, potatoes, and bacon. Perfect for the very coastal 50-degree sideways mist we were having today. This has to be up with some of the best chowder I've had at a restaurant, and it was what I remembered from our first visit. The halibut fish and chip actually surprised me. Based on initial appearance, I was a little disappointed with the small size of the fish pieces -- but then I dipped one in tartar sauce and took a bite. The batter was perfectly crisp, and not greasy at all -- I've been up and down the coast searching for a coating like this, and it's amazing how rare it is. That crunch, with the flavor of the fresh fish, makes for a very satisfying dining experience. The Fish Peddler is completely casual, and it's the kind of place we look for on the coast. Fish & chips, chowder, and an amazing view of Tillamook Bay and the low-hanging clouds draped against Cape Meares on the other side.

Laura C.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick seafood lunch on our way back to Portland and was very impressed! They have a little market within the restaurant that has a nice selection of grab n go fresh seafood (raw and cooked) gourmet foods, and sell beer and and wine as well. We ordered from the grill and enjoyed everything, but the clam chowder is a must! The prices are also pretty reasonable for the quality and freshness of everything. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. The restaurant also has a nice view of the bay! We will definitely be back next time we visit the area!

Maddy M.

Yelp
We were looking to have some oysters and the Fish Peddler definitely delivered. The Fish Peddler doesn't look like much at first glance, but they do have a pretty view of the water if you sit outside. Inside there was a little bit of a line and it moved a tad bit slow. They only had a couple people working there at the time, so if the cashier was answering the phone, there was no one to take orders. The menu itself was a little limited, it seemed like more of a place where you buy fish and take it home rather than eat in. They had a couple tables inside, and a little market area where you could buy various sauces and seasonings. The oysters were delicious. They were LARGE and in charge too! My friend ordered the fish and chips and the fries were perfectly crispy. This place definitely felt like a hidden gem. It was definitely fun to walk the boardwalk after our meal and take in the sights!

N O.

Yelp
Amazingly good food. Cioppino full of crab, mussels, clams, prawns and fish. Only $15.99! Order and pick up at the counter. Casual atmosphere.
