To say that, upon entering, my expectations were set a bit low - is an understatement. I'm so happy we stayed!
We sat at the bar, just because it was chilly outside. Though the service was pretty slow, the bartender and waitstaff were very friendly. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer, and it was good. Maybe a minute overdone, but it was what one would expect from fried calamari. I will say that I enjoyed the lighter-than-expected batter!
We ordered the Mahi-Mahi Tacos, and the special: Skirt Steak Tacos. The skirt steak was chewy and generally uninteresting, BUT! Those fish tacos are the stuff foodie dreams are made of!
Lightly grilled, and delightfully seasoned, the fish could easily stand on its own, and probably deserves to! The tacos were served with a grilled pineapple salsa that was unexpectedly stellar! And the fries! I don't even eat fries but these "proper chips" as they're referred to, are crunchy on the outside and like mashed potatoes on the inside. So good! The whole plate paired beautifully with the Deep Ellum's Dallas Blonde draft.
I can't wait to go back for another order of the Mahi-Mahi Fish Tacos.... one order for there and one order to-go!
