"The Fisherman’s Daughter, the sunny cafe tucked inside Dockside Fish Market on the south end of Grand Marais, taps into Lake Superior’s freshwater bounty, serving wild-caught fish by the pound — not to mention piping hot fish and chips. The cafe also serves light cafe fare, from lobster salad and deli sandwiches to rhubarb cheesecake. Don’t miss the maple bacon cheese curds." - Justine Jones, Alex Lodner, Joy Summers

These were the best fish n chips I've ever had in my life. I'm not joking. And I've had a lot of fish n chips. The fish was cooked to perfection, as were the fries. Excellent service, very cute joint with a great atmosphere. We picked up some smoked salmon on our way out, it was absolutely excellent. My only complaint is they're hundreds of miles away from my home!

The quintessential place for lake fare! I think it’s rare that the local celebrity food establishment ever exceeds expectations, but the Fisherman’s Daughter certainly does. With an exceptional fish deli loaded with locally caught lake food, fresh or smoked, to pair with the best fish baskets on Superior’s north shore, the Fisherman’s Daughter is the ultimate lake front culinary establishment. For their famous fish and chips, the fish was perfectly fried (lightly breaded and not heavy) and was served with crisp and fluffy fries and a perfectly tangy tartar sauce. My only regret is not coming here sooner. Unbeatable.

This was my second time eating here and it is definitely now a staple of northern Minnesota for me. I love that all of the fish is locally caught. Their fish and chips are really good. My boyfriend got their fish tacos which were also delicious. The last time we ate here we also tried their crab fries, it really surprised me how fresh they were. It's so relaxing eating on the balcony and enjoying the weather and cool breeze.

We stopped in here for supper. Order at the counter and they drop off the food. Great service, quick. Limited menu, but they have sandwiches and stuff for picky eaters if needed! The fish tacos were SOOO good! Highly recommend. We will stop again if we make it back up to GM!

We had 2 great experiences here last weekend celebrating our anniversary, it was our first time trying FD. We drove up Thursday and came straight here for an early dinner. We sat outside at the picnic tables and had a great view of the harbor. Everything was fresh and tasty. We got fried cheese curds, shrimp, and white fish with fries on our first visit, then came back Saturday to try the crab fries and walleye. We ESPECIALLY loved the fries, they were easily the best we ever had! We took a few deli items back to our room Thursday and enjoyed a picnic on our balcony Friday. We got the smoked salmon chowder, which was 10/10, I could have easily eaten a quart! Also had the pickled herring and the shrimp cocktail which was top quality and fresh. Be prepared to spend at least 50-75 as a couple esp if you splurge on any of the deli items. Can't wait to come back, this will be a must-stop for all future visits.

Just, wow. The fish tastes so fresh! Though after reading all the amazing reviews, I expected that. 😀 What I didn't expect was that the tartar sauce would be so flavorful (absolutely perfect accompaniment!) and even the fries are delicious. The lakeside seating, overlooking the marina, feels very authentic. And the staff was very friendly. My meals here were the best on the North Shore.

First off, this place has a fantastic location. We had our dogs with us so we couldn't sit on the patio overlooking the water, but I bet it's very nice! We did sit on their front patio with the dogs. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. We got a cup of Salmon Chowder and it was surprisingly good! I would definitely order it again. We also shared a walleye basket and it was good, but not great - we'll likely try a different type of fish next time.

Best place to dine in Grand Marais, MN. Try Fresh Fish - Fish and Chips Wallaye, White fish, Fish Taco. The food is delicious and we enjoyed it a lot, and we visit them every time we travelled to GM. Nice outside sitting, they do allow pets in the outdoor sitting.
