"Cutting across the Otago Valley, you’ll find The Fish Wife nestled into a graveled jutting of Moeraki coast. ... This allows for high-quality seafood to be sold cheaply to the public." - Hillary Eaton
The service is kind and friendly
In order to prevent sold out, we made a reservation by calling in advance.
Lobster is very valuable and affordable.
It tasted really fresh and juicy.
The best lobster in New Zealand.
I definitely recommend it.
Thank you so much
Great team!

Very fresh and great portion. If you’re ordering other proteins, 1/2 chips should be enough to feed at least 2 people (the 3 of us were not able to finish our $5 chip)

Very much worth the drive from Dunedin as the crayfish+fish and chips are the best I’ve tried.
The portions are large but the Crayfish and Fish is so good that you won’t want to share and thus have it all to yourself~! Pricing is great for the freshness and quality of the meal.
There isn’t any sitting area but there are tables a few steps out where there’s a park where one can savour the views and enjoy the meal~!
Will definitely come back again!!

If you stop by the Katiki Point Lighthouse or Moeraki Boulders, you need to stop here for the fish & chips or crayfish & chips. The food is quite literally off the boat, battered, fried, and given to you. Hot, fresh and delish! Take out only but there are some tables around outside.

Butter fish was really flavourful and somehow tasted buttery.
Grouper was okay - taste abit mild. Indeed, staff recommended butter fish over Grouper.
Chips was crispy and fluffy, 5 dolllar for a scoop easily feed 5.
Crayfish somehow on a tougher and lack of flavor side. Tasted a bit fishy when its cold - which was fast considering the windy and chilly weather.

One less star for atmosphere for lack of seating. Probably made that way to enjoy the view. We arrived there before they opened and people start arriving few minutes before they open. Staff are very lovely and fast! Coffee is not the best but the crayfish and blue cod is superb!!!! Thank you so much!

Go there early if you’re hunting for a whole crayfish—they could run out. Half-size crayfish seemed to have plenty of supply.
In terms of freshness and price, it’s a much better value than what you find in Kaikoura.
We also found that packing some wet tissues to clean up the mess and bringing white wine to pair with it were excellent additions.
Highly recommended!
