The 12 Best Hotels in Asheville, North Carolina - AFAR

"Housed in Asheville’s 1920s second high-rise and reborn as a 71-room boutique, this property preserves historic details like terrazzo floors and a grand marble staircase while offering playful period touches (rooms named after 1920s icons and a bright red 1939 Steinway in the lobby). The rooftop bar spans three patios—one with firepits—for sunset cocktails and sweeping views, and a speakeasy-style downstairs lounge harkens back to anti-Prohibition history. The on-site restaurant blends modern Appalachia with Italian classics using hyperlocal ingredients, and the dimly lit dining room—scented by firewood—complements wood-fired dishes from a kitchen known for inventive items like beef-fat tater tots." - Jenn Rice

Asheville Restaurants Try to Recover After Hurricane Helene’s Massive Destruction | Eater Carolinas

"Reopened following major renovations to a historic property and operating alongside an on-site restaurant, the hotel employs dozens of local staff and is scrambling to re-establish contact with employees after widespread service outages. Management has been able to reach staff only sporadically, is coordinating evacuations for anyone who needs to leave, and has committed resources to make affected employees as whole as possible during the crisis." - Stephanie Burt

Exceptional service truly pet friendly and spotless!!! I had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Flat Iron Hotel. From the moment we arrived at mid-night the service was impeccable and every staff member was warm attentive and genuinely courteous. What really stood out was the treatment of my dog. They went above and beyond to make him feel welcome and comfortable which means everything to me as a pet owner. This is true pet friendly hospitality done right. The hotel itself was spotless beautifully maintained and thoughtfully run. You can tell there is real pride in the level of service and care provided. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Asheville especially if you are traveling with a furry companion. I will absolutely be back.

My wife and I stayed over Christmas and were delighted. Built in 1926, this beautifully maintained and restored hotel is in the middle of downtown Asheville. The location is great, walking distance to good restaurants and interesting shopping. The beds are magnificently comfortable. Each floor has its own coffee, ice, and drinks room. While the idea of ground coffee in a teabag may be off-putting, don’t worry. They make some of the best coffee I have ever had – smooth and delicious. While there is a modern elevator, the two 1920’s vintage elevators are still operating, and if you’re lucky, you might snag a ride in one of them. There are wonderful restaurants on the ground floor, the speakeasy in the basement, and the Flat Iron Rooftop. Best of all is the wonderfully friendly, very professional staff. They all, from front desk and bellmen to housekeeping, make the extra effort to be attentive, smiling, and sincerely helpful. A great experience I hope to repeat someday.

From the warm southern welcome on arrival to our reluctant departure, every moment was enjoyable. Check in was swift and easy, lubricated by a complimentary beverage. A quick trip up the vintage elevator, along with a quick history of the hotel was the perfect start. The rooms are on the small side, but well made up for with the attention to detail of the appointments. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and you have full control of the room's temperature. Do take advantage of seeing the sunset from the roof top bar, but the hotel's central location is it's superpower. Great restaurants, shopping and bars are all within a five minute walk. You are also a quick, 5-10 minute, drive from the entry to Biltmore Estates. Overall, couldn't be happier with our time at the Flat Iron

Loved this unique boutique hotel!|The decor was very nice , very on theme. Loved that they kept a lot of original features from the building. The staff was very helpful and polite and the overall experience was more intimate than the other larger hotels. We took advantage of their new curated dining experience thru their on site restaurant, Luminosa. Wow! 5 star experience, we let the chef choose and we were not disappointed! Wine and drink pairings were on point.|Staff was knowledgeable and attentive.|Dinner was followed with dessert and after dinner drinks at their "speakeasy" downstairs.|My husband and I will definitely be back! Kicked off our holiday season in an unforgettable way.

Beautiful hotel. Perfect location. First time in Asheville and you couldn’t ask for a better home base to explore from. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Valet parking right at front door on Battery Park if needed. We used local 24 hour garages which were safe, clean and very reasonably priced; we used both Wall (entrance on Otis) and Sears Alley garages without a hitch. Rooms were very cozy, great linens, good hygiene products, robes and slippers. Sparkling and filtered water at a common area on every floor which were very convenient. Same area also had coffee, tea, mints, playing cards and a bonus jar filled with staff picks for local adventures which was very cool. 2nd floor has a great common area at the apex of the triangular shaped building and also a meeting room. 10/10 would stay here again and will be back. Also, Luminosa downstairs is a must. Fantastic Italian restaurant.

Stayed in a lot of hotels in Asheville and this one might be my favorite after a recent weekend stay. The staff was amazing. Not sure why or how they are so much better than other hotels but they really seem to care and help whenever needed. Any issues they are right on top of it. You don’t feel like you are bothering them at all. The rooms are great and big enough. Bed was comfortable. Best part is the rooftop. Multiple rooftop options with amazing views. Order a lemon pizza, drink and just sit back and enjoy. We almost missed our concert just to stay there. Picture is just after sunset. Definitely hope to be back and hope they continue doing exactly what they are doing!

Absolutely excellent experience! We arrived late in the evening for just a one-night stay, and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The gentleman at the front desk was incredible- he immediately offered us a glass of Prosecco, which was such a lovely touch after a long day. Also, gentleman sho helped us with historic elevator was amazing - he was talking and playing with our toddler. these two guys made our evening! The hotel itself is stunning- historic, full of character, and beautifully maintained. You can feel the charm of its old-world elegance in every detail. The service staff were all wonderful and made us feel genuinely welcome. A truly brilliant experience- can’t recommend it enough!

This was a great place to stay. It was like stepping back in time to the 1920's. The rooms were very clean and cozy. Not very big but for a building from that period it is very cozy. I will stay here again when visiting Asheville. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Thank you Flat Iron for a enjoyable stay.

Yelp
The hotel looks very pretty. There is a dining room to the left as soon as you walk into the lobby. We only went for some cocktails on at the rooftop bar. The drinks were o.k. I was expecting the grapefruit juice to be fresh squeezed, but it was too sweet. The Lemon Drop Martini didn't have the surgat rim on the first one?? The atmosphere is nice. We were there on a Monday evening, just as they opened. There were 3 outside balconies and the inside areas to choose from. I called prior to coming, and they said there are no reservations required. It is first come, first served. When we did get up there, the balcony facing the sun had reserved plaques on the tables. When I asked the bartender, she said it was reserved for a tour? When we left an hour later, the balcony with the sunset view was still empty. Also, since we were the first guests there that evening, I would have expected the tables to be cleaned. All the tables were a little sticky and had many drink rings from, I assume, the evening before. It was a nice view. Will probably try a different rooftop bar next time.

Yelp
The hotel's common areas and rooms are clean, uniquely decorated and comfortable. Every staff member we spoke with was friendly and extremely helpful. My family and I throughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Asheville.
