'Such are the ups and downs of life' was response to the lady serving us when we complained about the food served to us...
*I cannot urge you to avoid this place enough..*
We arrived at 7.50pm and were advised that the kitchen would be closing soon, fair enough. The waitress handed us a menu and wanted to take our order instantly whilst standing at the 'wait here to be seated stand'. I asked to be seated to look at the menu and she stated 'just sit anywhere', OK..
Once seated the waitress (Jennifer according to the receipt) stood over the table whilst we selected our food and drinks.
I want this review to focus on the service and food, but I must mention the drinks, more specifically the beer. Now I know Fullers is now part of the Asahi empire, but just having London Pride on as the only cask beer from a traditional well know brewer is a bit of a disgrace, even more so when their menu tells you to ask for their guest ales! There are several Fullers bottled beers on offer but nothing more on a hand pull.
Back to the food... The food arrived in 5 - 7 minutes and straight away we knew it was not going to be great. I ordered the ribs which consisted of 4-5 large boned ribs with not a great deal of meat on them, a few scoops of coleslaw and some chips that were akin to warm yellow plasticine. I returned the chips and asked for fresh ones, within 5 minutes a new pot of 'chips' was brought to the table and they were slightly more golden not much warmer and definitely more chewy.
My better half had the chicken pie and mash. The best bit of the dish was the healthy portion of cabbage it was served with, the pie was anemic and stodgy and the mash smash (or similar)..
As you can see from the pictures we ate as much as we could. When approached by the waitress / Jennifer asking how it was, to which we replied pretty disappointing, we got the response at the beginning of this review - 'Such are the ups and downs of life I guess'..
Not really a empathetic or professional response..
We got up, had to ask where to pay the bill (£56.08) for 2 mains and 2 drinks (1 pint & 1 sparkling water).. We paid and left, I noticed afterwards that they added 12.5% service charge! That must be for the wise words offered by the waitress!
Will not be returning even though we frequent Heathrow / T2 regularly..
