Despite COVID-19, Northern Michigan Restaurants Broke Records During Summer 2020 | Eater Detroit

"The Flying Noodle, a new Italian noodle shop opened by Adrienne Brunette during the pandemic, benefited from Front Street’s outdoor seating expansion when the city closed the road, gaining additional seats that helped offset indoor capacity losses." - Stacey Brugeman

Went in for dinner on Friday and we loved it so much, we went back the next day for lunch! The food is so fresh and the homemade pasta is so tasty and perfectly cooked. We tried four pasta sauces and four different apps—They were all so delicious, I wish I could go back again. Staff were great and they even recognized us when we came back the next day. Our bartenders, April and a gentlemen the night before, were friendly and had great recommendations. The people we met at the bar were great, too! Can’t speak more highly of this place. You won’t regret coming here!

Had reservations for an early dinner (4:30p) as we had plans in town at 6p. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and love Flying Noodle. My favorite cocktail in town is served here (Smooth Sailing). Normally we sit at the bar and simply walk-in, but we opted for a table this time. Hubby had the clams and I chose a shrimp caesar salad. We shared the burrata. How nice to have more crostini than cheese for once! Our waiter was fantastic. Service was almost too fast as we were done by 5:05p. Keep up the great work! We recommend this place frequently to friends.

Tried making a reservation a week or so in advance and they said they could only take us at 4:30 and they wouldn’t take walk ins. I told them we were celebrating our daughter’s birthday. On the phone and when we got there they didn’t care. The group in front of us was a walk in and they told them they could be put down for a table in a hour. So that was confusing to me. We got sat right away but our server was terrible. Little to no attention. Lack of refills and no care of it being our daughter’s birthday. The place was extremely overcrowded and loud. The food absolutely sucked. I got the green pasta and it lacked flavor. The kids meals were a whole joke. Chips with pasta?? Chips for kids? The options were very limited and the pasta type was not kid friendly. Also picked this place because the menu said house made pasta and it was very much not homemade pasta at all. It was a huge disappointment and waste of money with the lack of quality of food.

As a first time patron in Traverse city, I had a great experience at the flying noodle! We got to the restaurant right at 4 when they opened and were seated right away. I ordered the marinara with chicken and it did not disappoint! The portion size was perfect and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was kind and attentive. The other guests I was with thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Traverse City!

Absolutely first rate experience. We made the mistake of not making reservations because we weren’t on a schedule and underestimated the busyness of the downtown that night. We waited a little over an hour, but the hostess was very communicative, and we eventually got our spot at the bar. We ordered simply; the pasta primavera and bucatini with marinara and meatballs. Flavorful, filling, and very quickly prepared. I particularly liked my wife’s choice (primavera) which featured gnocchetti (little gnocchi) and gremolata (similar to pesto but with parsley, garlic and lemon - very fresh). My bucatini was perfectly prepared, and the marinara was a little sweet and very savory. And the meatball was well-seasoned and fell apart… in a good way. I don’t typically go into that much detail over food, but we were just so pleased with the experience that we want to see others give it a try. The prices are extremely fair, too. Under $20 a plate felt like a bargain. My only suggestion, besides getting a reservation if you’re worried about time, is avoid the bar area and peak hours if you have a noise aversion. The music was a touch intrusive for my taste and sound generally carries very well. However, it seemed fine for most of the customers, and not everyone is perturbed by a noisy restaurant. I wouldn’t knock a star off of the experience over it. Overall 10/10

So excited to find this little local Italian restaurant! Loved it so much!! Outside seating & inside seating. Smaller menu but everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked absolutely amazing! We ordered 4 different entrees & everyone loved them. The Garlic knots were so wonderful! The Marinara & pasta 🍝was perfect. The meatballs were so big & fantastic. Pizza 🍕 was just right with fun choices. Service was fast & terrific. We all left full & satisfied. Highly recommend visiting The Flying Noodle! Delicious!!

Really great, quick, unique meal! I got the burrata and it was delicious and flavorful. My sister got the marinara pasta and it was a great staple. My mom got the primavera pasta and it was not what we expected but ended up being great! Definitely recommend to people seeking a fun meal:)

Great food, great location, excellent food. Fun to watch the chefs and kitchen preparing our food. Calamari was very good with nice crunch and seasoning was perfect. The Caesar salad was probably the best flavored I've ever had. Texture was good with great lemony dressing and fresh! The carbonara was perfectly prepared with nice creamy sauce-wouldve liked a bit more...the flavors were fresh and the four of us commented this was the best meal we had on our 4 day trip. Staff was friendly too. Small cafe but big on great tasting food. Wish I were closer to go again. I only took a couple of photos..sorry.
