Absolutely first rate experience.
We made the mistake of not making reservations because we weren’t on a schedule and underestimated the busyness of the downtown that night. We waited a little over an hour, but the hostess was very communicative, and we eventually got our spot at the bar. We ordered simply; the pasta primavera and bucatini with marinara and meatballs.
Flavorful, filling, and very quickly prepared. I particularly liked my wife’s choice (primavera) which featured gnocchetti (little gnocchi) and gremolata (similar to pesto but with parsley, garlic and lemon - very fresh). My bucatini was perfectly prepared, and the marinara was a little sweet and very savory. And the meatball was well-seasoned and fell apart… in a good way.
I don’t typically go into that much detail over food, but we were just so pleased with the experience that we want to see others give it a try. The prices are extremely fair, too. Under $20 a plate felt like a bargain.
My only suggestion, besides getting a reservation if you’re worried about time, is avoid the bar area and peak hours if you have a noise aversion. The music was a touch intrusive for my taste and sound generally carries very well. However, it seemed fine for most of the customers, and not everyone is perturbed by a noisy restaurant. I wouldn’t knock a star off of the experience over it.
Overall 10/10
