Where to Eat in East Dulwich, London - Eater London

"Tucked away on a little row of shops straddling the East Dulwich/Peckham border, The Flying Pig pub has to fight a little harder for footfall than its Lordship Lane counterparts. It does so with a tempting menu of American Dude Food (the usual pulled pork burgers and jalapeno Mac ’n’ Cheese) and a revolving selection of ales from further afield. Its weekly Wings Nights are hot stuff; especially given five will set you back just £2.50." - Isaac Parham

It's one of my favourite places to go to :) Last we went was about 2 weeks ago, it was my boyfriends birthday so we went for a meal and a couple of drinks :) Good music selection , great selection of beers and craft beers and great good :)

A great selection of quality craft beers and a very impressive menu. I had the classic pulled pork bun and it made my slightly inebriated self exclaim with delight about how excellent it was. Beautifully smokey with a perfect portion of chips. Great atmosphere without being too busy - and the staff were really fun!. Will definitely visit again if I'm in this neck of the woods.

I have been a patron for some time and love it. During the day they are very family friendly, the choice of drinks is extensive and the food is very good. It's potentially hipster, but doesn't quite get there, which I actually like. An easy place to visit with family, or for a crafty pint after getting off the train from work. I recommend the pulled pork burger!

There's still a good selection of beers here, and great for families as it's really spacious. Alas, the food is pretty average tbh, with a much more limited menu in comparison to what it used to have. Still worth a visit, but don't have any great expectations about the food. Would also say there are other pubs in East Dulwich with a better atmosphere, but that's just my personal opinion!

This place has the potential to be great, but some things let it down. The ribs were a disgrace, their smoky flavour wasn't sweet wood smoke, more acrid diesel. However, the fries and pulled pork burger were great. No desserts though - what the hey?! The beer selection is great, a small wine list was adequate. Service was fine, but it's an "order at the bar" place. I might be back for a quick pulled pork burger, but it's not a place to linger over a meal with your partner.

Good beers! Nice bar staff, but they seem to treat it like a house party. If they changed the song one more time we were going to flip out. The decor is looking a bit tired lately - needs a zhoosh. They need to turn the lights down and fix the tacky furniture. Didn’t have any food this time but share the view of other reviewers - chips let the place down tbh. In conclusion, still visit for the beers but the owners can improve this place easily if they want.

Terrible food. The bbq ribs were dry and we had a very average pulled pork burger. The waitress also tried to double charge us for a round of drinks, (3 beers £17.50...) which we had to prove had been paid for with the receipt that she had just presented to us. Wont be going back. Edit: The waitress deducted the cost of the ribs from our bill without being asked to and was very apologetic nice about it.

At last! Leytonstone has been missing a great, friendly, fun pub for years, and this totally fits the bill. They really make the effort there - the NYE party was excellent, and the range of beers and food day to day is top class. Really happy to have this as my local - wish there were even more like it! Great beer garden, kid friendly, dog friendly, nice seats and more boardgames than you an play.

Yelp
What more could you want from a pub? -Great selection of keg craft beer -Really good lineup of real ale in cask -Awesome array of bottled beers -10% off for CAMRA members -Excellent American-style BBQ food at a reasonable price -Friendly staff -Outdoor area for sunnier times It's not in the busiest of locations but I've no problem with recommending this place to the extent that you should plan a trip out to the Dulwich/Peckham border to try this place.

Yelp
Excellent craft beer pub with a unique selection of beers, ales and spirits from non mainstream suppliers. The food is also excellent and features stuff like Cajun Calamari, to Pulled Pork burgers and soft-shelled crab salad, with the added bonus being that all chips are triple cooked

Yelp
Great selection of beers from a wide range of US and UK breweries, both on tap and on draught. Ranging in price from reasonable to quite expensive for the less common or stronger beers. The atmosphere is good as well, friendly staff and an open, welcoming environment. I was excited to try the food here as well as I'm a big BBQ fan but my experience so far has left a lot to be desired. Ribs are a staple of any BBQ joint and on my last visit they were drastically overcooked and dry. I really hope it was just a bad day for the kitchen as good BBQ matched with everything else The Flying Pig has to offer would make a 5 star rating.

Yelp
came here not too long after it opened, which may give it a pass on some pretty underwhelming food, if it has improved that is. with so much BBQ in London this relative latecomer really needed to excel and sadly it was pretty average. the mac and cheese, sounded lovely but didn't deliver and my pulled pork sandwich (the standard surely?!?) was dry even with the addition of some bacon goodness. the fries (home-style) were limp. you order at the bar which seemed strange in a venue with quite a few members of staff and lots of tables, its deceptively quite a big place. i do concur that it isn't badly priced. not cheap cheap however. the saving grace is the bar area and the beer selection, really lovely seating at the front of venue. loads of different beers on tap and what seems like hundreds of bottles. gonna have to come back and investigate fully! staff were pleasant but the barman seemed a little away with the fairies. engage man!! i wish them all the best.
