Where to Pick U-Pick Apples at Farms and Apple Orchards in the North Georgia Mountains - Eater Atlanta

"Located in Fannin County in the town of McCaysville, bordering Georgia and Tennessee, the Folk Collaborative farm and orchard prides itself on family and Appalachian traditions. Recipes, seeds for produce and fruit grown on the farm, and items and baked goods sold in the shop come from the family who owns the farm or local community members and artists. Head up for U-pick apples and wagon rides around the farm on a pleasant fall day. Afterwards, enjoy a fried hand pie and apple cider doughnuts from the bakery with a cup of fresh coffee or a latte. Check out the apple calendar and U-pick schedule." - Robbie Medwed

Fun place to get a great cup of coffee and bakery but my first experience was taking a class to learn how to make Fire Cider (flu bombs). Our instructor was Lyndsey, a Certified Herbologist. She was knowledgeable and helpful describing every ingredient with its healing properties. Excited to revisit and often. Bring friends

We have found a new autumn tradition - apple picking at the Folk Collaborative! We absolutely loved our experience here. Apple picking was fun and stress free with a great variety of different apples. Staff was so friendly and helpful, and we loved shopping the teas, bitters, herbs, honey and books after our apple picking. We are obsessed and already can’t wait to be back!

A new favorite GA stop! I found this location via an Instagram post. We had the pleasure of going in October for their apple picking. For a Saturday morning, they weren't super busy yet. The staff was super friendly and managed the crowd well. The store was super unique and had a ton of herbal products. I do wish there were more prices on the products in store and a description of possible uses for more of the products. I hope to return to be able to shop with less people around. We took the tractor out to the farm and loved the ride and story with the man who originally started the orchard! There were plenty of good apples to be picked and they were delicious 😋. The orchard was a short walk back to pay. We hope to return next year!

We took a class on how to make Fire Cider, and loved it. Our instructor, Lindsey was very knowledgeable, articulate and helpful. There were 21 people in the class and she gave everyone the attention needed, and answered any and all questions. We’ll definitely return for future classes. I would highly recommend. And there selection of coffee, teas, and sweets are very good as well.

An amazing experience! I recommend the farm tour. We had such a great time. It was very relaxing and very informative. Luke was a great tour guide and he is very patient with kids (ours are 8, 5, and 2). It’s very family friendly which we really loved! The store was really cool with very unique items. They have a lot of coffee options, I had the Bees Knees which was so good I got a second one (I will also be going back a time or two while we are here on vacation). The food is also delicious and all homemade, we tried the chicken salad, both soups, some cookies, and the apple pie. I can’t recommend this place enough if you want a truly unique experience while traveling to Blue Ridge, GA (and surrounding areas). Regardless of where you are, it’s worth the drive.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful place! I visited with some friends last summer. We were rafting on the Ocoee River and overheard someone talking about the "best peach pie". After asking where we could find this pie, we ended up here. It was so much more than I could've expected. I loved perusing the apothecary, and I absolutely loved the coffee and baked goods. No seed oils! It was wonderful.

Yelp
What a cute place to visit! We loved the charm and friendliness of this establishment. Nice assortment of bulk teas and spices. Small cafe with some gluten-free options.

Yelp
My wife and I visited the orchard today and it was unbelievable. The food and coffee were fantastic, the orchard was beautiful and had a ton of variety, and the entire team was so kind and welcoming. Props to Luke and his crew for running the best orchard and shop we've ever been to.

Yelp
We tried the "big box" fried pies and then we tried the BEST fried/hand pies. The chicken melt is a MUST!! Holy moly...so good. The blueberry and peach sweet pies were to die for. Washing it down with an excellent cup of coffee was icing on the fried pie. The atmosphere is eclectic and you could spend hours checking everything out. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Awesome place! We came for a festival...which we didn't realize was cancelled 4 months ago! I guess we were reading outdated literature. But, awesome place. Great vibe, awesome people, and really unique products. Do leave without getting some pastries!

Yelp
Wife was a Kid in a candy store with this place, bought quite a few items for back home. Wish we had this place back in Tampa, will be ordering from online though!

Yelp
I really loved going to this place, as I'd heard about it about a year before I was able to make it there. It's located walking distance from downtown Blue Ridge and is in the same building as Blue Ridge Health and Yoga. This gives Folk Apothics a very serene and welcoming vibe. The interior is beautiful, with a fireplace, couches, and free hot tea to sip on while you browse. The products available are mainly those than can be ingested: teas, tonics, tinctures, bulk herbs and spices, spice mixes, grains and flours. There are also bath and body products, essential oils and blends, laundry and cleaning products, some jewelry, clothing, and yoga accessories. I'm sure I missed something! The most beautiful part of the store is a kitchen-type work area, with empty jars and bulk products waiting to be formulated into items for sale. It's kind of like my dream kitchen. I purchased some dairy free "ranch" seasoning. I had trouble smelling it since the entire store is heavily scented already, but the ingredient list looks solid, so I hope it's good. I also bought an extraction of hops from a sale rack, which I was surprised to see. I definitely intend to return to Folk Apothics and recommend that anyone interested in more earth-y vibes give it a look-see.

Yelp
Folk Apothics is a Blue Ridge local owned gem. From the beautiful decor to the amazing products, you're guaranteed to find your happy place in these 4 walls. Luke has an amazing knowledge of all things herbal and makes you feel absolutely welcome the moment you walk in. We purchased the dream ritual kit (one for me and one for my sister) and I am beyond excited to dive in. From tinctures to bath bombs to fresh chemical-free produce, Folk Apothics itches your need for something a little different. And once you're done getting your holistic on you can head next door and sign up for a yoga class with Amanda, who may be one of the nicest women in Blue Ridge. Will definitely be back often.

Yelp
Love this place! My husband and I stop in Folk Apothics every time we visit Blue Ridge. The staff are super helpful, and answer any and all questions you may have. The store itself if rustic and beautiful, and smells heavenly! Before walking into this place many times ago, I knew nothing about herbs and tinctures. Now I find my fascination grows daily with learning all about the products they carry. Also follow their social media pages, as they often post new products and cool folklore stories. Cool place for sure!

Yelp
Folk Apothics is a very unique shop. If you are looking to learn a little more about Appalachian Folk remedies, essential oils, and maybe take a yoga class this is the place for you. As you step into this shop you will appreciate the immediate pleasing sensorial experience. The displayed wares are visually stunning and the smells are fabulously pleasing. The only thing I would add is a brief description on suggested uses for various goods and/or a section with informational literature for introverts such as myself. Overall, shopping here was a very enjoyable experience.

Yelp
So many of us have lost our connection to old time wisdom. Our ancestors knew the plants around them and their uses, but in just a few generations and a few cities in between, we've lost the knowledge. The Folk Apothic has it. Though I've only lived in Southern Appalachia for a few years, both of my grandmas were Scotch Irish immigrants to this land and I'm acutely aware that my cabin sits on land that once belonged to the Cherokee. Luke can share the stories of the local plants and their uses. He can recommend herbs and tonics for anything that ails you. And he can regale you with stories about growing up in the humble woods of old Appalachia. Whether you want a deeper knowledge about plants and herbs or just a gift of bath salts for a friend, get thee to The Folk Apothecary. You'll be glad you did and you'll wonder why you didn't get there sooner.
