Went for Rico Nasty's closing show on her Lethal tour. Beautiful venue, wasn't too crowded even though it was crowded lol (LOVE those risers on the floor), and staff/security were on point without being overbearing. The drinks were stiff & reasonably priced. The rooftop is a beautiful lil secret! LEGENDARY spot. 👏🏽👏🏽

Google
Great medium sized venue for a show. The inside has a great historical vibe. The main floor is great for dancing during the concert, while the balcony has seating like the old movie theaters with comfortable cushions, and there are about 5 VIP couches in front of the theatre seats in the balcony. There are bars on the main floor and balcony area. I only saw one of the smaller rooms, not sure if there are more, that was open for the after-party. Sound system was good and we really enjoyed ourselves!

I've only been to this venue once, and the show was great. The lighting was good, and drinks are affordable. This rating should be taken with regards to ADA seating location. The photos you see are from me standing. The ability to see without standing is limited in the ADA section. The sound wasn't great, but that could be because of the overhang. So if you're outside of the ADA section, or don't have to worry about accommodations then all the negatives could go away.

First time attending this venue to watch Wisp perform. Very reasonably riced admission. Acoustics are phenomenal. Very cozy and balcony is a great place to watch the performance from above at a reasonably close distance. Parking nextdoor is $25.

I went to the Fonda theater for a Netflix special, Fear street Prom Queen event. The theater was so beautifully decorated, it felt like I was stepping into a time capsule. I honestly believe that this event looked more like the 80s than the actual movie. It was great!! I recommend to visit this theater for band shows or other fun events. Definitely visit if you are ever in Hollywood!!

Yelp
Medium to small sized venue located in Hollywood. This venue has been here for quite some time and most likely has been through a few renovations, because once you get inside, the interior still feels modern. It's located a few blocks away from a really busy area of Hollywood so there's still a lot of street traffic, but parking isn't crazy difficult close by in addition to their allocated lot. I really enjoy this venue because the shows they book tend to feel more intimate and there's a good view anywhere you stand in the downstairs area. I've also been to fun non music related events here as well. My most recent show here was The Kiffness. An artist who is primarily known from taking soundbites from (now mostly animal clips) and making music out of it. Shows I really enjoyed in the past: - Fleetwood Mac Fest - some artists I really like coming together and covering and celebrating music form Fleetwood Mac (e.g. The Kills/Alison Mosshart covering 'Dreams'). Getting to rub elbows with some celebs, cause Fleetwood Mac appreciation is universal. - First Aid Kit - sister duo from Sweden doing American folk music arguably better than lots of Americans. I believe another band I loved for decades will be playing here soon in November as well. I most likely will go, haha.

Yelp
(Attended 05/30/25 FR @ 7:00pm): Such a fond old theatre! It's been nearly ten years since I last visited The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood when I saw a then new up-and-coming musician named Aurora https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=zfJr2xmzaex6Y91WFdarvA with two other opening acts. Originally named The Music Box when it opened on October 20, 1926. In the following years, it had several name changes and usage, until 2012 when Goldenvoice acquired the facility, renamed it The Fonda Theatre (in honor of Henry Fonda), and to this day has been a thriving concert venue. How fond would I be with the theatre and concert!? PURCHASE Tickets/Seats ($35.45): The base price was a steal at $25.00 but a horrendously high $10.45 in service fees. "Seating" was all General Admission/Floor/Standing, so I made a home center stage up against the barrier of the soundboard. Honestly, there were no bad areas in the house, and the only obstruction would be if someone tall stood in front of you. There were a handful of seats in the balcony area, but it was mainly standing room only. Boulevard Brewing Co. Space Camper IPA Beer 20floz Draft ($15.00): Amber color, hoppy aroma, light body, fruity hoppy flavors, drying smooth finish, and drying hoppy aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=ztmXHwvV44txRmupa0gIZQ Grupo Modelo Modelo Especial Mexican Lager Beer 20floz Draft ($14.00): Amber color, light malty aroma, light body, malty watery flavor, smooth finish, and malty sweet aftertaste. One of my favorites! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=0rAphV1-56JV09ArX7KMJA Miss Vickie's Kettle Cooked Potato Chips Jalapeño Flavor 1 5/8oz Bag ($4.00): I simply needed something to munch on with my beers. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=YpKakWKa67Uj91Nx2kxEzQ Souvenir T-Shirt ($35.00): Sadly, they didn't have any tour-specific shirts for sale, but this would do because of the cool graphic. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=btzK6lztapZxlnXbuuutyQ THE CONCERT I instantly fell in love with Blondshell's lyrics and music on her 2023 self-titled debut album. On this tour, she was supporting her latest full-album release, "If You Asked For a Picture". With a balanced playlist between two albums, and a casual warm welcoming performance, the adoring crowd sang and swayed in support of this L.A.-based band. Nearly a one-hour performance with a light encore, it was awesome seeing them live for my first time. SERVICE The online ticket purchase was seamless, the check-in line outside the venue went swiftly, there was little to no line when I bought my beers/snack, the merchandise line went quickly enough, and security was chill as heck - easy-peasy! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I went Metro and took the Red Line from my hipsterhood to the Hollywood/Vine Station and walked about five minutes the rest of the way. Otherwise, I had no idea how much nearby lots were charging. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE At roughly 1,200 capacity, this original Spanish Colonial Revital Style has been on a slow restoration process mainly to the interior https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=tcam_E2sMsWMv65spW6xPw which had a main two-sided central bar https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=EcS724j7078buu_bc19GqA in addition to a separate bar room https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=cNxfmD8AcyrcRZKXmqlxPg which may have been for special ticket holders, and a couple of ATMs. Outside was the marquee https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=IbgabOfrPyhtwn_KBZKPBQ for all to see. My Main Floor/Pit spot https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=FA52fLw2tES0-Cf6Uuml9Q provided balanced audio and a barrier to lean up against. Zero natural lighting while the electric house and stage lighting filled in the rest. There were a few monitors that showed the stage while background music played pre- and post-show. ATTIRE In general, it was a business casual affair with a buttoned-up shirt, jeans, and Doc Martens; the t-shirt, boardshorts and flip-flops stayed home. OVERALL It was an awesome evening at The Fonda Theatre! To L.A. transplants this "relic" from the 1920's may be worn, but with its long-standing history, a born-and-raised Angeleno such as myself appreciated and defended it. The intimacy of this place should prove favorable to both patrons and performers. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $107.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Yelp
Fonda Theatre is awesome! It's the perfect size, intimate enough to feel close to the stage but big enough to still have that full concert energy. The bartenders are quick and attentive, and the drinks are solid for a venue. It's also walking distance to the Frolic Room, which I finally checked out and loved. Always a great experience here. If you get VIP tickets, you'll have access to the Jane Bar. We did that once, and it was a nice place to relax before the show, but definitely not a necessity.

Yelp
My husband and I went to a show here a few months ago. We drove from San Diego so it was quite a journey. There's a large parking lot right next to the theater which is really nice so we didn't have to waste any time looking for street parking or for parking structure. There was a short line but we quickly were able to enter the theater. There's a few bars located inside, two that were open for this event. There was one in the side room which was more quiet and a great break from the loud concert. All the second bar was located to the center back of the main concert hall. This was a really cool theater in such a great place to watch one of my favorite bands.

Yelp
I flew out from San Francisco for the Sombr show Nov 2nd, and I specifically selected this venue for its intimate capacity. The quick pass line was such a breeze and I was able to get a prime seat on the balcony. The acoustics from up there were absolutely amazing. Record execs usually book the couches and bring friends and family. There is a large rooftop patio with some cool views of the city. The staff for the most part were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I've seen some special shows here over the years -- Phoenix residency, Travis Scott, Balu Brigada, Caravan Palace ... and generally, it is such a small venue that any spot is pretty decent for seeing. I like their rooftop patio too for waiting in between sets ! My only criticism would be that their lines prior to the show can take a while for security ... does not make me want to arrive early lol.

Yelp
Honestly fantastic. Great venue great show great history. Highly recommend for shows and events!

Yelp
I came to the Fonda Theatre to see Mindseye on 10/31. I came to the bar and proceeded to order a cosmo. Bartender came and made the drink and upon payment totaled me $25.18 before tip. I asked him why the the steep price and he said that's just how much it is. I payed my total but was skeptical. I went around to the other side and asked 2 additional bartenders how much cosmos were. They both quoted me $16 and some change. I return to the original bartender only for the other bartenders to tell me "he's upstairs, but ill let you know when he returns" I wait over 10 minutes for the original bartender and no return. The bartender who is there offers me a shot of vodka in exchange for me to just leave and I politely declined and requested to speak to the original bartender. He yells at me and tells me he doesn't know what I want him to do and that he cannot do anything nor refund me. It was a busy night but there is no need to take it out on customers. Finally a kinder woman approached me and asked what I was waiting for and tells me she had texted the original bartender to come back to the bar. I finally see him on the other side of the bar which nobody bothered notifying me about, so I waited additional time when he had finally made his way down. I make my way over to him and he quickly dismisses my questions over the price once more. I ask for his name at this point and he tells me his name is "Hurb". He then says "I'm done with you" and then I guess feels bad and asks to talk to me on the side. We go to the side of the bar to discuss what happened and he tells me "That's the price of a cosmo everywhere... Do you even know what's in a cosmo?". The manager "Jim" finally approaches after over 30 minutes of this back and forth with the two male bartenders. He proceeds to back his staff and say "$25" is standard for a cosmo. He also has a nasty attitude and said either he refunds the drink and tosses it or he is also done with me after talking to me for less than 2 minutes. At this point I accept and give him my drink because I was sick of waiting for some kind of resolution. I then ask for him to show me where exactly on the ingenico device it is stated that the cost of the cosmo is $30. He denies and tells me I will be able to see the details on my bank statement. I tell him my drink name is not going to come up on my bank statement refund. Jim then states "you got your refund you're done". I would not be as aggravated as I am if I hadn't missed 40 minutes of the concert and if the issue would have been corrected in a more timely and appropriate manner. Attached is my "refund receipt" even though it doesn't say refund any where. Highway robbery.

Yelp
There's a parking lot right next to the theatre which is quite convenient. The theatre itself is ok, it's been around a while and could use some updating but I guess it wouldn't have the same "feel". Getting past security wasn't too difficult. They were quick and thorough. We saw D4vd, he put on a great show. The restrooms were clean and the rooftop with the bar and projector was cool to go outside and get some fresh air.
google avatar

Yelp
The area is huge. The stage is elevated to allow most of the visitors to see the performers. On the side are diases with railings for the shorter folks who need to see better. The check-in process is smooth but security didn't allow candy or mints inside. A little too strict for my taste because my breath gets stale after a while but it's okay. Loved the acoustics. Sound was distributed so evenly across the entire room. It did not oversaturate anywhere. Whichever sound engineer saw to this when I went was excellent. It made for a sublime concert.

Yelp
One of my favorite music venues!! Such a beautiful theater so much history in these wall. No matter where you're sitting or standing you have a great view it's such an intimate venue. I've been to multiple concerts here over the years and every time just amazing at how cool it is.

Yelp
I drove from San Diego to see Geneva Jacuzzi and I didn't know what to expect. First off, parking was easy. There are several free metered spots (after 8pm) in the immediate area along with nearby parking lots. I would have snagged free parking if traffic didn't hold me back but I settled for the lot next door since I was cutting it close with the door time. The lot ended up being $23 cash only but I wasn't mad about it because I'd rather have a parking attendant deterring potential window smashers anyway. I've been to many small venues that look like plain black boxes so The Fonda definitely turned it up several notches with the artistic details. The artsy details coupled with the full bar made the pre-show experience really cool. I also appreciate that there are three (maybe four?) bars to choose from in this theatre. There's one main wraparound bar at the entrance along with one off to the side near the restrooms and I believe the Jayne upstairs serving the balcony. I can't wait for another excuse to go back!

Yelp
For a more intimate concert venue, I highly suggest the Fonda in Hollywood. Although I grew up in SoCal and would often frequent the Hollywood area here and there, I never went to a concert at the Fonda until now! I don't live in California anymore, but happened to notice an artist I wanted to see was performing here while I was in town visiting. The bartender we had was nice and poured us some great drinks. There's several bathrooms here and the layout is very easy to navigate. I would definitely return.

Yelp
This is an older theater in Hollywood. We went recently for a Clairo concert and overall, the venue is nice and very intimate. It does get very hot because it is the middle of summer and no AC. However, that's expected when you attend concerts. One thing I did want to point out is that typically this theater is first come first serve for the balcony area, so a lot of people arrive early to get seats. It is important to know that some concerts sell tickets with reserved seating for the balcony and if your tickets say reserved seating, please make sure you call in and speak with them directly to let them know. We went to the Clairo concert and when we arrived at our seats there were people sitting in them. That happened for everyone else that paid for reserved seats. Management was not aware and they had to move people out to give the seats to people who paid for them. I understand that most of the time it is open seating so I don't fault management for not being aware, but they should have been prepared. Overall, the theater is great! The acoustics were amazing.

Yelp
The Fonda is cool. I'd recommend parking at the L.A. Fitness structure behind the building as the price doesn't fluctuate here but it does at the lots surrounding it. To me, the acts that play the Fonda are solid. I think the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed here when they reunited with John Frusciante for their latest albums. I've seen all kinds of genres of musical acts here and have had a great time. I'd say this theater is medium sized compared to the other older theatres/venues in L.A. They have two raised platforms on either side of the stage that I would recommend to find a spot on for performances. They also have a balcony area with seats and sometimes they open it up to everyone, other times it's V.I.P. only or it's closed off altogether, just depends, but make sure to check every time. It's an iconic venue with every one of your favorite artists performing here, usually early in their career, just before they make it big. I'd recommend checking their site for upcoming shows.

Yelp
I came here a few weeks ago for the Sinead Harnett concert and indeed enjoyed myself! I never been to The Fonda before - but I absolutely love this venue. Loved the decor! There's a bar as well! Getting in was a breeze, we got a good standing area in the balcony section and getting out the venue was also smooth, even though everyone was trying to leave at the same time. Parking wasn't too bad either - about $30-$35 for one of the lots - but that's LA. I've seen lots that cost much more! I will definitely come back to this venue!

Yelp
I went to see the John Garcia show on 6/27 and there was an older woman behind the box office yelling at the box office attendant and it ruined my experience. She was obviously someone in a position of power and it looked to me like she was abusing it. I hope he finds a better place to work.

Brennan S.

Yelp
Got balcony seats so I could sit because I have a bad back. Those were taken up immediately. Tried to sit down for a second up against a back wall, outside of everyone's way and was immediately told to stand up. Don't buy balcony expecting to get a seat.

Yelp
This is a beautiful, old theater in Hollywood. For concerts, they sell pretty much all general admission tickets. There are several parking lots around the venue. I never have issues with parking, but it can be pricey. There are three indoor levels. They also have an outdoor patio and rooftop, which I absolutely love having as an option. The sound quality at this venue is very good. They have several full bars. Snacks such as chips and candy are also available. The venue is usually all ages, depending on the show. What I love is that they don't charge extra for their balcony and general admission seating. It's a nice option. If you don't want to stand all night, as long as you get there early enough, you can sit in the balcony seating. But the seating is on a first come first serve basis. They also have several small, round bar height tables with chairs around them on the balcony level. I really enjoy this venue!

Yelp
All good on this visit with Drew Holcomb as the headliner ! Acoustics were great , show started on time, and the staff were super friendly. I plan on coming back next week for another show !

Yelp
What a lovely venue for an intimate concert experience! I attended a concert of an indie singer songwriter, Eloise, and the EQ mix was such great quality - you could hear her intonations and enunciation so clearly, and the balance of the band and her vocals made the experience super high-quality! I stood in the GA and got a pretty good view of the stage. The layout of the base floor reminds me of the Wiltern theater. When you first enter the lobby, it is so whimsically decorated with all types of lamps fixed up the wall! The restrooms are immediately upon enter on the right side and the merch table is on the left side. Parking is a tad bit pricey - if you park in the lot next to the theater, prices will fluctuate but on average I've seen around $40. If you scout around and park in garages or lots a couple blocks down, you'll find parking that is at $20.

Yelp
0 GUEST SATISFACTION! My girlfriend bought us a table for the Sango concert as my Xmas gift. They told us the upstairs section was closed and told us the tables were on the floor, cool. Approaching the tables we noticed the reservation signs were on the floor due to the fact that a 6ft x 6ft speaker was directly in front of the tables blasting music, cool. We ordered 2-3 rounds of drinks that ran us about $80 each (including a 20% tip each time). During the show the speaker ended up spilling my girlfriend's drink over. After talking to 2 workers on the floor and a security guard that told me he would call someone to clean it up after I cleaned majority of it I found out the bar is a 3rd party and they couldn't refund ANYTHING. I explained the situation to the bartender that was taking care of us all night and her response was "IF I WE DIDN'T SEE IT SPILL THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT". I was mind blown that after spending close to $500 on this event they couldn't refund me for a drink that spilled due to the placement of the table we purchased. They were nice enough to give me a bar towel to clean up the mess myself though . Management, do better.

Yelp
We attended the Lovejoy concert and it was amazing. This concert was a birthday gift for my 18-year-old daughter and it's her favorite band. The venue was the right size. She has anxiety and it wasn't too big and overwhelming for her and the band of course was great. I really appreciate the directions of safety and making sure everything was accessible directions for anything we wanted or absolutely clear. I hope to go back here again for another concert.

Yelp
While Treaty Oak Revival delivered an outstanding performance, the overall experience was unfortunately marred by the conduct of some staff members. In particular, one woman--who appeared to take issue with our presence--was notably rude and condescending toward my group of military service members. We were simply trying to enjoy a well-deserved break, yet were met with unwarranted hostility that detracted from an otherwise great evening.

Yelp
The Fonda Theatre is such a great spot to come see your favorite artist perform! I recently went with my boyfriend to see Briston Maroney and the show was fantastic! Plus the theater made the experience even better. There is such interesting art everywhere and cool lamps and chandeliers hanging from the walls and ceilings. There was a free water station with cups accessible and of course a bar to order drinks. We were actually shocked at how inexpensive drinks were because typically at concerts they are super pricey. The service from the security, bartenders, and general Fonda staff was excellent! They even have an awesome Photo Booth inside to take pictures to capture the memories! Love you Fonda!

Yelp
Went to the L.S. Dunes show last night: first time at the Fonda Theatre. Had a great time. This is one of those places that you won't see built these days. Spanish Colonial Style decor, It was built in the 20's almost 100 years old. It has some interesting wallpaper all over the walls. I had to find out what it was. Turns out it is (a humongous "Hell" panel of Hieronymous Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights triptych). A lot of strange scenes in this, would have like to check it out closer. But another time. It is really cool inside and a great place to see a show, only fits 1200 people, so you can get up close to the performers on stage. The line was pretty long to get in, but the security staff was good and got us in safe and quickly. The security keep the show going smooth and laid out the ground rules before the show started, so they cared enough to take the time to make everyone safe. Although, many people did not follow the non smoking warning they gave at the beginning, which was annoying. But security and staff was great. I don't think they have food options, but they have multiple bars, first floor, balcony as well as on the patio, plenty to drink. The floor is general admission, but there are seats and couches in the balcony when you have a great view of the stage. Go one floor up and you can go out onto a rooftop patio to hang out, take in the views of Hollywood Blvd. Lounge in the outdoor seats or in the indoor/outdoor bungalow area, very cool. It is a shame not many of these old theatre's are around anymore, but take a step into the past and check out a show or event at the Fonda Theatre. You will get to experience a long gone era and have a great time at a show at the same time. Pro Tip: if waiting in line for a show and need to use the rest room before the show, head up to the second floor right away rather than standing in line on the first floor. Enjoy!

Yelp
Went to a show last night at this venue and I got my purse stolen from off my shoulder in the crowd and my sister and friend got their phones pit pocketed from out of their purses. When we asked security and staff for help they said nothing was turned in without even checking and we were pushed outside. One women with blonde curly hair who was a part of the staff was extremely rude telling us to get out while we were talking with another staff member about our stolen items and filling out a missing items sheet. We tried to talk to her first but without listening to us she told us to get out and figure out our stuff from the outside. I've looked through the reviews and it seems as though this is a common occurrence. If you are going to this theater be aware of pit picketers and rude staff. Will not be returning! Had to spend hundreds of dollars to replace the items stolen from me in my bag and some aren't even replaceable.

Yelp
I parked 100 feet from the front doors, I waited about 5 minutes in the security line, then I walked in and right to the front of the stage. Gang of Four were incredible and the sound was great. It was a night that I will never forget. RIP Andy Gill and Dave Allen

Yelp
It's a nice little venue! I came here for a concert and overall it was pretty chill. I liked that everything was pretty organized and not crazy. The sound system was great and I was able to enjoy all the music and actually hear the artist singing. The parking situation was straightforward which was good too - I parked at the nearby LA Fitness lot. The only thing was that the floor of the venue felt sticky.

Yelp
Love the nostalgic vibe and the sound system during concerts is great! I can't wait to watch another one in the future

Yelp
Cute little venue. Went for a show, but would love to go back for a concert sometime. I enjoyed all the lighting in the lobby area. Staff were friendly. Only issue was the street. We were there early for a meet and greet, so lined up in front. It smelled pretty bad, and we saw an argument/items thrown across the street. It was a bit scary, but thankfully all were safe.

Yelp
Went to check out my son's fave band. Pre-paid parking and took a short walk here. This place is aesthetically so interesting with murals, old time light fixtures, a mix of old and modern Hollywood. The striking modern bar is pretty snack center. Similar to other Hollywood clubs, stage up front and standing room only. We enjoyed the show standing close to the front. A nice mix of all ages but mostly younger fans. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about the Fonda Theatre, but I especially want to shout out Molly. I struggle with anxiety and depression, and during a recent show, I had a panic attack. I was embarrassed and overwhelmed, but Molly sat with me, held my hand, and helped me through it. She reassured me and made me feel safe when I felt like I was falling apart. Afterward, she gave my wife and me access to a seated area with a table, making sure I had a comfortable space. She told me not to be embarrassed, and honestly, those words will stick with me. I ended up leaving after Mono's set, but this experience meant so much. On top of that, the venue itself was beautiful, and the bartenders were incredibly sweet. The whole atmosphere was welcoming, and I'm really grateful for the kindness I experienced. Thank you, Molly, and thank you to the Fonda team--you made a difference.

Yelp
Went here to see The Plot in You, bought seats with a table. It wasn't the private viewing experience I expected as people stood behind us really close the entire time and got aggressive when we mentioned that they were too close. Great venue, the table seats felt like a huge waste of money though.

Yelp
I have been here twice for Ookay a couple of years ago and Atarashii Gakko (Japan leaders) last month 11/8/23 on a Tuesday night. I was excited to go back because it's been years and I thought Ookay Live was a good experience. The difference was that Atarashii Gakko was a bit more crowded. I waited in line to get screened maybe more than 30 minutes. The line looped around LA Fitness as well. Security was a bit strict as I saw EMTs inspecting a girl's makeup powder. There were two areas: floor and balcony. Of course, the balcony is seated. The floor was packed. If you are 5 feet tall like me, you are a bit out of luck. Thankfully a tall person in front of me made sure I was able to see. It was a great experience overall. There is just one merch table which is close to the door. I would suggest getting merch during the performance because before and after the line gets long. There is a wide variety of drinks. They made special drinks according to the performer. I got the pineapple kryptonite. Delicious! My boyfriend just got a beer. I wouldn't mind coming back, the next time I will get balcony or go to the floor early. Parking - I utilized the Parkwhiz app and parked where the mall/shopping center was. remember the mall area closes at midnight. When my boyfriend and I got back to our car- the doors were chained up, thankfully we rushed to another entrance quickly. There was also parking available at the Hollywood palladium and LA fitness. Multiple options!

Yelp
Beware of getting ripped off by the older bartender dude with the facial hair, kind of bald. This guy swiped my card, gave me a receipt, and gave himself a 20% tip both times I went to him. The worst part, I tried to be cool and tipped him cash, and the scumbag does that to me. I don't give a shit about the money, it's the fact that he did that. Messes it up for all the other bartenders.

Yelp
Rules are too uptight. You don't allow smoking or vaping. You made me throw away my $28 Stiiizy cartridge. It seems you don't like hip-hop. Maybe stop booking rappers then. I hope my favorite artists don't come here anymore.

Yelp
As old slightly renovated theaters in Hollywood go, the Fonda is reminiscent of a typical sub 1000 seat theater with a balcony. Accessibility is limited to the ground floor, as there are two flights of stairs to get to the balcony. At the top of the first flight will be your restrooms, and I believe a second bar. The primary bar is on the first floor at ground level. Acts that book here typically sell all seats as general admission, which is the typically lowest venue rental rate for groups. That includes the balcony, which is slightly unusual, as all seats are actually both row and sequentially numbered, and on this particular event night, it seemed oversold by 30 to 40 extra seats not available and those folks had to stand at the back of the balcony behind the safety rail. For this event, the lounge sofas at the front row of the balcony were reserved for VIP pass guests only. The sofas have tables for drinks, whereas the regular balcony seating does not have cupholders, and are the traditional Hollywood, super narrow aisle sizes. For a sold out show, circulation and stuffiness were kept to a minimum even though outside was a rather chilly 60° so the AC works well. As you can see from some of the photos, the floor gets pretty shoulder to shoulder packed, but on each side of the stage is kept open 3 foot wide roped off safety aisles, allowing you to get from the floor back out to where the merchandise tables and bar are in the lobby. These are the same safety aisles used to access backstage. Parking at the lot next-door is easy. The entrance is on Gower - for this nights event fees were about $20 per car with very limited street parking is also available. If buying tickets through AXS, I do recommend getting the quick pass if the fee is reasonable for that evenings event. For this event, although the VIP line only went from the front door to the parking lot on the side, the general admission line wrapped around the block well past the LA fitness building behind the theater with about a 90 minute wait without the pass. Be prepared. The bars seem to be beverages only and there is no food allowed into the theater. Basically a good old Hollywood style live theater to see smaller acts DJ parties. And while it's hard to accurately tell, the sound reinforcement system here is incredibly loud and (feel the boom) super bass heavy. Compared with the next night performed in San Francisco at a similar sized theater, the Fonda sound level was at least 15 dB louder. Bring earplugs.

Yelp
Really cool vibe. The Fonda Theater is located in the heart of Hollywood on Hollywood Blvd, down the street from Pantages and TLC Theater. If you can't find street parking, there are several lots that go for about $15-$20. The lobby walls are adorned with lamps while the walls near the stage have some artistic imagery. The sound was fairly decent for the bands we heard play. They let you bring in a purse but they check it before you walk through the metal detector. There's also free water (a water fountain with cups) in the lobby. Unlock some other theaters, we didn't see any popcorn but that doesn't mean there wasn't any in the side room. From what we could see, there were 3 bars to choose from and an upstairs (that we did not explore). Bathrooms were fairly standard (and clean).

Yelp
First time here to see Briston Maroney and this venue was incredible. We got there early before the opener and got in so easily. From the second you step in the theater has the coolest interior, and has the best vibe. The seats are adorable with velvet and studs on them. The only thing is mine and my boyfriend's seats were broken so that was a bit disappointing. However I was OBSESSED with this theater and the artwork and vibe. It was so historical and artsy and added to the vibe of the night. I also loved the outdoor patio. The venue was amazing. The only downside was drinks were unreasonable for the size and price. One JuneShine can was $16 which was overpriced and unreasonable for the size of it. Larger venues normally do double tallboy cans for the same price. We ended up not spending any money at the venue because it didn't seem worth it. That's the minute one star, are the broken seats and the prices for drinks. But overall had the best time and moved the venue.

Yelp
Oh, Fonda Theater. I want to love you but I'm getting blown away. If you're going to oversell a show to the point where there is nowhere comfortable to stand (let alone sit), with zero visibility of the band, at least leave your beautiful patio area open until the show ends. We had GA balcony tickets for a show (I assumed they would only sell as many balcony tickets as there were seats, silly me), and since we didn't grab a seat early, we stood in the back. I wouldn't have minded if we'd been able to view the band even a little bit (and I'm tall, usually not a problem). So we decided to go downstairs to the lobby, where several others were watching. That was fine for a while, until a guy with a flashlight shooed us all out of the way, saying there needed to be a clear path. I understand that, but there was a lot of space behind us and definitely a clear path should there be an emergency. The guy was just doing his job, though, so we went to the patio to watch the concert in the screen. The patio area is gorgeous, with hanging string lights, a separate room with couches, and a large screen where you can view the band. It was actually great hanging out there and getting off our feet for a while (we are late 50's/early 60's and so was most of the crowd for this particular show). I didn't mind that we were watching it on a screen, but during the middle of one of the band's best songs, a guy with a flashlight appeared and announced, "Patio's closing in one minute!" Fine. We started down the stairs back into the venue. Those doors were already locked. "This way!" A young blonde woman with a flashlight waved us over to another set of stairs, and we entered the venue again. Fortunately we were able to watch the last few songs in the band's set from the lobby without being told to move (again, there was a clear pathway behind us). The band and sound were great; the venue is historic and gorgeous, but I felt like the theme of the evening was Go Stand Somewhere Uncomfortable and Not See The Band. Lastly - what's with the soggy, waxy paper cups for water? I bought a bottled water and a cup of wine. The bartender said, "I need to pour the bottled water into a cup. Do you want me to pour it into one cup or two?" Well, seeing that I don't have three arms, I had him pour it into one. Seems wasteful. Do they think people will throw bottled water at the bands? This was a mostly older audience for a punk band that started in 1976. I don't think there was going to be a lot of bottled water-hurling. Not blaming anyone who works there - everyone's just doing their jobs - but Fonda owners, for shows that are packed to capacity, please keep the patio open for the whole show.

Yelp
The Fonda was an amazing venue! Staff and security were super nice and helpful. I wasn't expecting a good view from the balcony but turns out they were the best seats! The view and the music were great. I would definitely come back to the Fonda!

Yelp
Before starting this review about the main point of my STAR-RATING, I'd like to say that the staff were excellent and fantastic and so accommodating to my wife who uses a cane but we recently went to the Röyksopp show that was there and this duo who are known for their spacious sounds and illustrious textures sonically...However, this was the ABSOLUTE worst sound I've heard in a very long. The guy at the boards who was mixing the sound for the night was texting and scrolling on his phone the majority of the show. He wasn't managing levels at all. The music which you couldn't make out what song it was because of the heavy muddy low ends and subs that were drowning out the highs and mids. I never heard one high at all that night. I went upstairs to the balcony and on the middle of the floor to maybe change perspectives to see if maybe I was just in a wrong seating area. No it was not. I was so bummed because we had been anticipating this show for a while and we ended up leaving an hour into the set because it was just unrecognizable. I feel cheated audio-wise. I'm not sure if this was a house sound guy or if the artist themselves had this clown traveling with them but it was really disappointing...BUT let me preface, the STAFF WERE SUPERB in the rest of the club. I felt seen and acknowledged to help my wife. The Sound guy was trash.

Yelp
I have to report a situation that just happened to me. I am 61 years old and tonight I went to a show at The Fonda theater. The artists are 2 DJs from the 90's and after I purchased the tickets, unfortunately I had a problem in my right rib, possible fracture with deep pain and I had a proof from my doctor that wrote a report and emailed me asking for an X Ray. When the show started I noticed an area with people sitting down and it was almost empty but it had one guy with a cane. I went there and stayed because I was afraid of people hitting on my ribs. Even though the security did not ask me to leave or anything, and because I am an honest citizen who dislikes taking advantage of any situation whatsoever, I decided to be super cool and honest and tell that security my story. But unfortunately he didn't give a damn and told me he was not a doctor. I decided to tell him about my problem because I wanted my husband to be close to me. He told me: "I am not a doctor, you will have to ask the manager, otherwise I will have to escort you out" I was a little shocked with the rudeness taking into consideration the fact that I am old, therefore at minimum he could have treated me with respect just because of that. Adding to the fact that I am in pain, therefore with very little patience, I still went to talk to the manager to prove my rights. I thought it was very rude but I went ahead and talked to the manager and he let me stay there. I went back and told this first rude security that he should have been more flexible and let me show the doctor's statement. He got offended with the way I talked to him because I said something rude but I was feeling humiliated. After that he called the same manager and told him that I was rude to him and the manager went ahead and took his side and decided to be rude to me as well, asking me why I was not sitting down like everybody else in that area, meaning, debating about, doubting about my situation. I then answered because I had a rib problem and it hurts more if you sit down. At that point someone with no apparent physical issues took the spot that I was initially occupying and even though that person didn't have any signs of disability, nobody had any problems about it and the security never bothered him. Along with this guy who was completely normal, a girl came over and danced like a maniac and nobody ever argued anything or disturbed her and the guy. I felt humiliated about the whole situation, I am wondering if it is because I am old?? Ageism? Is this the new problem I will have to face in California? Is this the price we pay for being honest and trying to do the right thing in life?

Yelp
This is possibly the worst venue I've ever been to. My husband and I went to see Gang of Four. We turned up just before the band were meant to hit the stage and then proceeded to wait 30 minutes. Yes, this venue made us waste 30 minutes outside. Despite already having tickets. Don't worry the woman who checked us in, one of three different ticket checks said we'd only miss the first set. That's one of two sets by the way. They are 45 minute sets. What luck! Then we got sat in the hallway. After getting reprimanded for staying in the corridors of the pit they oversold. I then got to play bathroom attendant as I was sat by the closed restroom. Could they be fucked to write a sign? What do you think!?! But yeah we are the problem. All of this would be fine if they didn't end the gig 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. But the cherry on the sundae, while exiting this venue they started taking down the marquee. And guess who almost got glass in their eye. Yeah they were taking it town via beating it with a hammer above hotdog vendors, Me! But yeah I'm the asshole and so are the people trying to sell hotdogs and so are the people trying to leave this god forsaken venue. I'm never going back. I think people are worth more than staff basically throwing glass at us. Head to The Wiltern or El Rey instead. Beyond professionals better acoustic quality. These guys are clowns! Also only show I've been to where staff ran to interrupt the set twice. You guys are absolute jokes.

Yelp
Update: I am driving to San Diego for a show this fall to avoid this venue completely.

Yelp
We have been to the Fonda Theatre a few times now and each experience has been just the best. We were here a couple of weeks ago to see Lovely the Band. The staff, employees, management and security are great. They know that place well. They are friendly and caring. I always take my grandson with me. He is a special needs kid and they know it and treat him so sweetly. If you need anything they will help you. Parking is in the lot next door and about $8 if I recall. There is a line because this place is always general admission standing, with the exception of a small balcony that has some seating. The staff has it together, they will open on time and get you in pretty fast. Have your vax card/proof ready and take a clear bag so they don't have to spend so much time searching for whatever you think you might be able to sneak in. Good luck with that. Once in they have a wonderful full bar and the place itself is just beautiful. It has been all renovated and still looks like I imagine it did in the 40s' or 50's when it was built. It is all art deco inside. It is not a large place so you will be able to see some great bands there before they move on to the big places like the awful Staples Center. They also have a wonderful roof and after the show you can go up there just to unwind or finish your drink. From the roof you can see all of Hollywood Blvd., with all its lights and magic. We love this place.

Yelp
So much for honesty....they wouldn't let me bring in my vape or a couple edibles. They are medicinal. I haven't been anywhere else that cares.

Yelp
I came here for a concert with Tate McRae, and it was super fun and intimate. Even for a Tuesday, Hollywood and this street is always busy. In the Fonda Theatre, the left side with an incline was a good place to stand and watch the show with Mimi Webb and Tate singing. I'm not sure how it is on other nights, but I think because Tate is younger (around 18), most of her fans were younger, so it wasn't hard for us to get drinks at the line. Bathrooms were clean and did not have long lines. As for parking, we parked near the Pantages, so expect to pay about $15+ for parking.
