On the Grid : The Reverence Hotel

"Publicans Mel & Matt and their dog Jack will forever be revered for their time running The Arthouse Hotel in North Melbourne – with The Reverence Hotel, they continue to provide a safe space that instantly feels like a clubhouse for your best pals. The Reverence (or The Rev or Revs) is a largely untouched classic corner pub in the working-class area of Footscray that is a dying breed in advocating for live music whilst being mutually embraced by local residents. The food is fast becoming just as worshipped as the gig offerings. The vegan options are now famous too. Taco Tuesday, Trivia Night and Comedy Night are always popular. Their greatest gift to Melbourne however, is the unwavering welcoming of so many bands of all popularity. For some context; news recently broke that the building was up for sale. This sparked an outpouring of hysterical grief for the potential loss of yet another iconic home for so many live music fans across the western suburbs, Melbourne and beyond. Every aspect of the The Reverence is again, perfect. We would be homeless without it. Photography by Gianna Rizzo." - Susu Studio

While I was at this location I was treated very well and the other customers where very nice to talk making the day excellent. I done some tattoos on the stage making it all the better.

Best in the west. Falling apart: yes? Full of heart: also yes. Fight the monotony of everything becoming one homogenous Americana tiled burger joint that happens to have beer and pokies. Go local. No bull.

Very unique and lovely place, many comfortable chairs in the beer garden, 2 pool tables and 2 lovely owners. I believe this place is not for everyone but if you appreciate a nice community feeling old school pub, definetly check it out. Oh and did I mention the unbeatable prices for beer!

This place is so much more than a hotel . It is the true heart of Footscray where community prevails . I sing in the Footscray hotel choir and we just ran a fundraiser to help save it . There is so much love for the genuine care for community

Take caution – the owners cannot control their dog, who latched onto me and wouldn’t let go. I was lucky I was wearing a leather jacket, as it could have been much worse. They made no attempt to apologise or check if I was okay.
