The 37 Best Restaurants in St. Louis, Missouri

"Ray Yeh moved from the Bay Area to St. Louis to study molecular genetics at Washington University, but he developed a hobby exploring the science of baking. In 2017, Yeh abandoned academia to open the Foundry Bakery, where he offers breads with distinct, bouncy chew and utilizes old-world techniques. For his remarkable longan walnut bread, Yeh smokes Taiwanese longan fruit and incorporates it into the dough along with meaty English walnuts, resulting in an aromatic loaf with mellow notes of currants and molasses. He offers pastries as well, like pineapple gems, a rich shortbread stuffed with sticky fruit. Or get to the bakery early to snag one of the egg custard tarts, its belly wobbly and warm from the oven; one bite shatters the layered pastry crust, sending crumbs everywhere, but you’ll be too delighted to care." - Holly Fann, Joel Crespo

Google
I'm so happy to see a Taiwanese style bakery out here in the metro! It's so rare to find asian style bakeries like these out here versus the west coast and I was pleasantly surprised about the quality of the bread, the drinks, and the pastries. A lot of them were still fresh out of the oven warm and the gentleman who rang up my order was very cheerful with a cute demeanor! Bakeries Iike this should be everywhere around the metro and I hope they do expand their business. I look forward to coming back and trying out more of their offerings. Delicious.

Google
This place is delicious! The inside is very peaceful and the smell of banking bread deserts smell amazing. We go here almost 2x a month craving the sweetbread. It was awesome learning from Ray one of the owners of the store about the Chinese Moon festival foods. We will be back again, again, and again the different types of bread is delicious and there is a flavor for everyone. Drinks are really good too

One of the best local coffee shops I’ve been too! It was soo good, my friend and I had to two days in a row, definitely will be a regular now. The egg tart was also so warm and delicious and the bread smelled Decadent 10/10 would recommend anyone to stop by !

***updated review*** Came here yesterday to pick up some drinks and bakery. The store was neat and clean as always. They were quite busy when I walked in but the owner Ray came to the counter to take my order pretty quickly. I used to come here for the Taro Milk, but my current favorite was the Purple Rice Yogurt with Mango drink. It's delicious and tasted similar like Vietnamese dessert - sua chua nep cam, but in a fruity side. I also got the Purple Rice Yogurt with Blueberry and Pasteis De Nata for my girlfriend, and she absolutely loved both items. My partner got his usual Chai Latte with Oatmilk - very aromatic and the sweetness just right. Bakery and drinks here are not overly sweet. We've been happy with our order and service here. Original Review Absolutely love The Foundry Bakery. We come here almost every week for bakery or tea. My favorite is Portuguese egg tart!!! Customer service here is awesome!!! The owner is super friendly and remember us by name. Highly recommended!

Google
I have been searching for a great bakery, and finally I think I have found one. Foundry is the BEST! Their bakery products are outstanding with great taste and high quality. The tea is so fresh and the boba is perfect! The owners are very nice, kind, and friendly. Highly recommend this place if you love high quality and delicious bread and tea!

Google
What a gem! Amazing variety of pastries, breads, cakes with unique flavors. Loved the panna cotta, the egg tarts, the bubble tea, and the cookies! Miso chocolate chip cookie and lavender yuzu cookies were divine 🤩

Google
This place is so good!!! I accidentally found this place on our annual St. Louis trip. And I’m in love! They make the best authentic Chinese/Taiwanese/Macau/Japanese pastries. I would say they are better than the ones I can find in Chicago! I am amazed. The chef is very creative. The owner is also super sweet. I would love to try every pastries and bread they offer there! Highly recommended and we will definitely be coming back!

Google
The bread is so good we went back twice! I've never had such unique and well executed flavor combinations. You can pick any item at random here and it will be amazing. We tried the black walnut sourdough, chocolate cherry, and umami burst. A must visit for anyone in the St Louis area.

Yelp
Found out about the foundry bakery thru Yun Hai in NYC. Ordered delivery for moon cakes for Mid-Autumn Festival. Foundry's are the best moon cakes I've EVER had. It's the perfect balance of honoring the traditional but taking a modern and incredibly delicious approach: Mung Bean Pong (綠豆椪月餅 - fine layers of crispy, swirly crust painstakingly rolled out. Carefully selected mung bean cooked with milk and butter for subtle dairy notes. A black sesame center adds to the whole experience with bold toasted flavors.) - 綠豆椪 or mung bean cake was one of my all time favorite desserts as a kiddo, but they made it even BETTER but the black sesame center which was sooo richly black sesame that it reminded me of another one of my FAVORITES 黑芝麻 (black sesame soup) or like the inside of tang yuan -- because black sesame is my FAV. Taro Globe Mooncake (栗子芋頭酥月餅 - Exquisite layers of crispy shell hugs an inner filling made of pure fresh cooked taro! A burst of intense taro flavor in every bite!) - wow wow wow. you could seriously taste the fresh taro in this and I LOVE me some taro. The quality ingredients and care that went into making this was incredible apparent! Salted Yolk Mooncake ( 蛋黃酥月餅 - ORGANIC red beans cooked from scratch paired with rich salted duck yolk resulting in a salty sweet combo beloved by all for centuries! Ours also feature a crispy spiral layers that have been meticulously rolled out.) - The most "traditional" of the three and let me preface by saying that as a kid and adult, I don't love salted yolk in mooncake. HOWEVER, I actually liked Foundry's!!! It was the perfect balance and the salted duck yolk was luscious and fresh rather than dry and gross like mooncakes w/egg in my experience! I'm going to be thinking about Foundry Bakery's mooncakes all the way until next Mid-Autumn festival *watery eye emoji* Please come pop up in Michigan!!

Yelp
foundry bakery is one of the most comforting bakeries i've been to. i love the unique style of grabbing your goodies fresh from the baskets! it's like your own mini shopping experience. there's been days where i'll sit and wait for 20 min as new goods come out. the inside is spacious and clean, with plenty of spots to socialize and study over baked goods! i live about 30 minutes from foundry, but always make the special trip for my favorite portuguese egg tarts. they're devilishly crisp, fluffy, and addictive. they house very unique bread flavors. a personal favorite of my is their chocolate cherry bread. if you want great hospitality, special pastries, and a cozy atmosphere, this is your place. i love how the family that runs the bakery honors their culture and show love through their food. highly recommended

Yelp
The Foundry Bakery is such a hidden gem in Creve Cour offering yummy baked goods, some sandwiches, and a wide variety of coffee and boba tea drinks. The egg tart was so flakey and delicious, and I enjoyed trying a new sandwich with kimchi on it and a steamed egg I believe. They have seating to grab a light lunch or chat over drinks. I've been a little underwhelmed by the drinks I've tried, but the baked goods smelled delicious and make the place feel cozy as they put new options. Really cute, unique spot that's worth going out of your way to check out!

Yelp
Wow this place is a hidden gem! Their Portuguese egg tarts are as great as they say! Very fresh, crispy, and you can actually taste the eggs. The cronuts was delicious! The family that runs this place is so kind and the owner even took time to chat with us and got to know us on a personal level. We will definitely be back now that we have discovered this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Weird limited hours, generic logo and a limited selection HOWEVER, this place is amazing! The chocolate cherry sourdough is not to be passed on! You can thank me later. You may even finish the loaf on your ride home! The crispy orange bun is buttery, flavorful and flaky and don't pass on the not sweet but utterly delightful lavender Yuzo cookie! Get here early for the best selections as they sell out quick!

Yelp
Quick search for a highly rated bakery to bring some treats to family. Found this spot, hidden in more of a residential area, in a quiet but small strip mall. For some reason, I expected a large selection of treats. It was a little different, but oh so wonderful. There were approximately a dozen different pastry options at the time of our visit. Clearly labeled, and each individually wrapped, you take a trey and it's self serve. We chose 6 different ones to try. When checking out, we were informed they are known for Portuguese egg tart. We didn't select this initially, but added one to our order. It was dense with over a100 flaky layers to create the crust. This was definitely a good recommendation. All pastries were continuously being replenished, coming out fresh and warm. They also have a coffee bar and some additional pudding style desserts in a case by the counter. Friendly and helpful staff, great service, easy parking, a pretty packed storefront, and flavorful fresh desserts for the win.

Yelp
I recently was able to try the foundry bakery, and it was a great place to visit! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They offered some great suggestions and walked us through their Boba and tea options. They also have free Boba add-ons with almost all of their drinks selections, so that was pretty cool. In addition to the great drinks, they have some delicious bakery items including egg tarts, fresh bread, and traditional bun pastries and even though I didn't get to try the whole restaurant smelled nice and delicious because of the bakery items. So I definitely look forward to trying again in the future! This is a great place to potentially work away from home for the day. I think they have free Wi-Fi and it's pretty spaced out and offers a lot of seating, so you can have some time away from the house with a nice drink and tasty snack. They also offer breakfast breakfast sandwiches that seem to have some good and hearty selections. I can't wait to try more of their menu items in the future!

Yelp
I went here today to grab a bite to eat. It's a cute spot for getting a drink, grabbing a treat or getting fresh baked bread for breakfast. You can even bring your laptop and get a little work done. I had a fruit tea with pineapples and a egg and bacon sando. You are the crafter of your own beverage, they have a variety of option's available from size, sweetness level ,and temperature to add ins such as fruit and boba, to the base you want to start with. I enjoyed my warm sandwich with crispy bacon, bib lettuce and fresh bread. It also had a steamed egg, ripe tomatoes and cheddar cheese with a honey Dijon sauce. There's parking right in front. Stop by and welcome The Foundry to the neighborhood!

Yelp
My recent visit to The Foundry Bakery was nothing short of heavenly! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. Let me start by raving about the Portugese egg tart - it was pure perfection! The crust was so buttery and flaky, and the custard inside was just divine. Each bite was like a little slice of heaven. And then there's the egg sandwich, which was unlike anything I've ever tasted. Picture this: egg custard, creamy avocado, and pickled kimchi all nestled between two slices of bread. It was a flavor explosion in my mouth - so unique and incredibly tasty. But the real cherry on top was Ray, the owner. He's just the friendliest guy you'll ever meet! His warmth and hospitality made the whole experience even better. With its creative dishes, welcoming atmosphere, and Ray's friendly vibes, it's a place you don't want to miss.

Yelp
Might try again later as we went at the end of the afternoon so there were limited bakery options remaining by the time we got there! From the very small shelves though it seems like there are limited selections to begin with and on the pricier end. The buns we did get were mild and plain. We also didn't order any of the milk teas or specialty drinks which seem to be popular here though. The space itself is small with only a few wooden tables.

Yelp
You know that awesome feeling you get when you go to a business and you can tell the owner is just bursting with pride? That's The Foundry! The owner is incredibly friendly and so passionate about what he does -- and with good reason. I almost never say the word "yummy" but after that first bite of egg tart I said "this is so yummy" like ten times in a row. The best way I can describe it is it's sort of like a sweet quiche but the crust is croissant. And if you're a GBBO fan, you'll be blown away by the lamination in that insanely buttery pastry. Yum! I also got the strawberry matcha with honey boba. The strawberry provides a nice, sweet counterpoint to the earthiness of the matcha and I also got some honey boba (free to add!) that made it feel really special and custom. Great place to stop in for breakfast, lunch, a snack, or to get some work done. I can't wait to go back and try more from the bakery!

Yelp
I took home a loaf of the chocolate cherry bread to use for French toast. The bread is rich and chocolaty but not cloying. I made a reduction of sweet cherries and topped it off with a spritz of whipped cream. This dish is reminiscent of the Black Forest cake from my childhood. It will definitely be in rotation for breakfast at our house.

Yelp
The customer service was immaculate when entering the building. I could not get over the wonderful smells when walking in. This is a great location to relax and read a book or do some office / school work. My Pasties De Nata was impactful full of flavors the crust is yummy. I would definitely order again. My Blueberry Purple rice milk tea with Honey boba was good but definitely try other flavors or teas I am sure you will not go wrong!
google avatar

Yelp
Came today to pick up purple yogurt drink with mango. I didn't realize they have large size. It was delicious as usual.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a gem. I wish they weren't so far from where we lived. Purple rice yogurt drink was amazing and so was the boba coffee. Really delicious all of it.
google avatar

Yelp
I really enjoyed my taro milk tea and egg tart on my recent visit! Will return again for the delicious baked goods and drinks!

Yelp
I'm so happy to finally find a good Taiwanese bakery in STL! This breakfast sandwich was amazing, you can definitely taste the freshness of the bread, lettuce and tomato. The egg was refreshingly light and airy yet filling! I will be back for more! The service was outstanding as the owners are incredibly hospitable and warm!
google avatar

Yelp
Courteous, helpful service. Boba a new experience for me. Took time to explain and choose a terrific flavor. No gf, but had to taste the egg tart. So much yummy filling! Nice place to sit with your boba, relax and enjoy a leisurely casual space and take a look at all the beautiful pastries to give a try.

Yelp
I've had this spot in my list for a while and it's only a couple miles away from where I live! I will say, I did pass it the first attempt to go there because the signage was small and it was in an off strip mall. I came here in late afternoon and was happy they still had some baked goods to choose from. They have a "market" area with all the baked goods and some tables and chairs to sit and enjoy or to work quietly. When I walked in I was immediately greeted and shown all their baked good options along with their menu and daily specials. Such great service! I'm not one to order Matcha, but the strawberry matcha they had sounded amazing and everyone has been loving it. It was HANDS DOWN the best matcha I've ever had. I'll be coming here quite often for this matcha... So glad I got to finally try this place!

Yelp
We moved a few years ago and I have been itching to come back more frequently. Well now we live a block away and I was able to sneak away for the family for a few moments. I didn't get my usual which is a tea, I opted for something with a bigger jolt of caffeine. I ordered an almond milk mocha, of course it was delicious. I am always so impressed by their services they are always so pleasant and welcome you with big smiles that give you a small town neighbor feel. Now that I'm closer I'm excited to explore more of their menu, I saw a bread that instantly made my tummy growl.

Yelp
I came here after tons of recommendations from the Elite Squad- and I'm sure happy I did! I'm not typically in this area often, but I've found one of my new "go to" spots when I am. I pulled up to the building, and The Foundry's building is shared with a couple of other businesses. Parking was simple. I walked in and saw some people working, which is a great idea. I would gladly work in here- it's a calm atmosphere and it smells amazing! I knew I wanted a drink, and was definitely convinced by the strawberry matcha latte. The menu board makes it really easy to see your options, additions, and sweetness levels. I ordered my latte with 0 sweetness bc I'm not a big sweet beverage gal. I added boba to it, and it was truly one of the prettiest drinks ever! The boba sat at the bottom, and then we're were white, red, and green layers for the milk, strawberry, and matcha. I loved this drink! It wasn't something I've had often, and it was really nice to try something new. I also got a cronut from the self serve bakery area. I was so excited because I've never had one! It was truly incredible- savory and sweet all at once with a nice crunch. Next time I get one I'm warming it up :) They also offer a large variety of breads and different baked goods! So happy I made it here finally :)
google avatar

Winnie Y.

Yelp
Interior appears clean and the employees greeted us when we walked in. I got a Lavender Yuzu Cookie here in the self-serve area. It was very tasty and the unique flavor was refreshing from your typical cookie flavors such as chocolate chip. I went near closing time so the offerings in the self-serve area were sparse, but that is to be expected and it's good that they're not sitting on their inventory. Prices are steep here; it was $4 for the cookie and it wasn't much larger than a standard cookie. Foundry is definitely a "treat myself" kind of place.
google avatar

Ninh N.

Yelp
I made it to the Foundry Bakery just half an hour before they close for the night. There's tables and chairs to enjoy your orders but I can see a lot of people just do take out. There wasn't much of the fresh, most sought out items left since it was the end of the day... but the owner who was also the cashier told me he had some egg tarts coming out of the oven My family and I ended up getting two drinks, 3 egg tarts and a cookie pack. The egg tart is the best I've had... the pastry is laminated so well as you can see in the layers I'd definitely say this is a must try. The strawberry matcha boba was really good... the taro drink definitely not what I thought it would be... but the boba was good. Overall, it was a really good visit and I'd come back for sure!!!!

Yelp
Looking for a place to get some work done or just a bakery that has unique treats? The Foundry Bakery is the spot for you. Stock up on Taiwanese-centric breads, buns and pastries. Parking available in lot. MY FAVS: Portuguese Egg Tarts, Bubble Tea, Red Bean Sweet Buns
google avatar

Zoya A.

Yelp
The Foundry Bakery is a gem with its wide array of boba, coffee, and teas. Ray, the owner, is an absolute sweetheart who shared his top picks with us, including his latest creation: a purple rice/yogurt smoothie that's not only great for your gut but also gets a delightful sweetness when paired with fruit. Trust me, it may sound odd, but I slurped up the whole thing and can't wait to have it again! My friends went for the iced coffee and matcha, which were equally delightful. One of the best parts? You get a choice of boba without any extra charge! I wasn't very hungry, but I couldn't resist their famous egg tarts--crispy on the outside with a creamy, creme-brulee-like filling. Even though it was from the display, it was fresh and warm. The restaurant is a bit tricky to find, but once inside it is spacious, with lots of natural lighting & makes the perfect work/study spot. Can't wait for my next visit to The Foundry Bakery!

Hannah P.

Yelp
Visiting St. Louis with my sister and her boyfriend to thrift, we decided to stop at The Foundry Bakery to grab a quick matcha and snack before our 2 hour drive. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a friendly ambiance. The egg tarts are OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING. If you do nothing else in your life, come and get an egg tart. The miso chocolate chip cookies and the lavender yuzu cookies are also *divine*. I also couldn't leave this review without mentioning the kind gentleman who checked in on us while we were stuffing our faces and drinking our matchas and creamy iced coffee (both highly recommended btw). I believe he is the owner, but I'm not positive. Shout out to him though!! What a cool guy.

Yelp
A friend told me to check this place out and their baked goods are truly top tier! Giving 4/5 stars because I arrived at 11:15 (opens at 11) and barely anything was out yet. I had to wait 25 minutes for all the items I wanted to be ready. The pro of this was everything I bought was piping hot out of the oven and the cronut was heavenly. Price is reasonable--I got 3 pastries and 1 loaf of bread and total was ~$20.
google avatar

Yelp
I tried this place with high hopes based on the great reviews. We got there a little after they opened and they seemed to be running behind. The girl at the cash register was new and unsure of the available pastries. Being our first time here, we were also confused on the ordering process so we just ordered drinks and decided to wait until they brought out pastries. We waited about 40 minutes before they started bringing pastries to the self serve shelves. We tried the taro globe, egg tart, and pineapple bun. The egg tart was excellent but everything else was just okay. The strawberry matcha latte didn't have too much strawberry flavor and the boba was a little tough (size large for $8) The pineapple bun was nice and light but not the best I've had. The taro globe had a nice mild flavor but wasn't show stopping. Hoping we came on an off day. Overall the pastries are decent but not sure if I'll be returning.

Yelp
Great breads and desserts. Loved their Taro boba tea so much. That was a family favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Truly a hidden gem within Maryland Heights, The Foundry Bakery doesn't get enough exposure. Their baked goods are baked daily and crafted drinks are made from scratch. We loved their taro milk tea as it was made with fresh taro, something you don't find often in St. Louis. Their crystal boba added a nice chewy and crunchy texture. Their crispy orange bun had to be my favorite. Incredibly fragrant, beautifully layered like a croissant, and slightly sweet, this has become my go-to for a quick snack! Their taro buns are super soft and pillowy, yet they are deceivingly filling!

Daniel S.

Yelp
The bread is the real star here. The lychee walnut bread is amazing. We also tried the pasteis de nata and a cookie. They were good but not as outstanding as the bread.
google avatar

Mandy P.

Yelp
I'm not sure how long this bakery has been open, but OMG! How did I miss them?! I've got to credit Yelp for suggesting them. I looked at the pictures and saw taro pastries!! In the Midwest?! YES!! It didn't take but a couple of days for me to take a lunch break at work and find them (only about 10 minutes away from my office). Nice atmosphere - very clean, but welcoming! The staff are friendly and helpful. The pastries are each packaged and self-service, which I prefer to taking up people's time selecting so many things from behind a counter. This way, I can load up everything I want and feel like a pig on my own, thank you! I already had my list from the online menu, so I selected several items to try (everything I wanted was available and fresh at about 1pm). Unfortunately, I can't eat it all in one sitting, but that's ok - there's enough for lunch, dinner, and breakfast, and snacks! They make fresh taro in-house, which is just unheard of in the middle of America (I usually have to go to Hawaii for that), so I am excited to have the Foundry Bakery close by, whenever I need a sweet taro treat. I'll add photos and my thoughts as I try each thing. I've been told taro cheesecake is also a thing, so that could be my special birthday treat this year! You have a happy, new regular!

Yelp
This cute bakery is a gem in the rough. The service is friendly and the cafe is clean. All the baked goods are delicious and freshly made. My favorite is the strawberry matcha latte and the umami burst!
google avatar

Francesco P.

Yelp
This place is awesome and Ray (presumably the owner) is super nice. I tried the red bean bun, pork floss bun, and egg tart so far and all are top tier. Give this place a try!
google avatar

Brandon M.

Yelp
Whether across the U.S., or even abroad, this may be one of the world's greatest little bakeries. In an entirely unassuming location, this hidden gem holds some of the most delicately delicious baked goods, from their pastry staple, the Portuguese egg tartlet, to a personal favorite, the rum raisin bun. The owners and staff on top of that are the most welcoming, kind people you could ask for. Grab a handful to sit for a bit, then more for the road! You won't regret it!
google avatar

Enoch P.

Yelp
Hi Raymond and family. I did appreciate your kindness and generosity. It means a lot to be known by name even as a customer. So please do not be offended by the four score. I don't write reviews often so when I do it means something. In my next review I will take pictures. So I'm saying now that I consider your place to be one of three best that I know in the St. Louis area. But I don't spend five ratings on daily eateries. I reserve the score of five only for the most delectable fine dining establishments. That way your four is equivalent to a five among bakeries and that's a high standard because I don't inflate the scores. See you in the near future.

Alana K.

Yelp
Got the portuguese egg tart. It was so good! It's bigger than a normal egg tart and very flaky but not too sweet. Will come back and try other baked goods!

McKena S.

Yelp
Foundry is a 20 minute drive from where I live but I made the commute after seeing such rave reviews and drooling over the photos on yelp. I will 100% be back. My cousin and I came at open and were welcomed by a man that I suspect may have been the owner. He was soooooo sweet. Very helpful and kind. Immediately asked if it was our first time and guided us through the menu. We tried a myriad of items including the pineapple gem, egg tart, taro bun, orange bun, and a cronut. All amazing and it was hard to pick a favorite but I'd probably choose either the orange bun or taro bun. I really wanted a strawberry matcha with boba but naturally I was VERY full after all the sweets and decided to pass. Currently regretting it but I know I will be back very very soon for it and to take an Umami Burst loaf home!!

Yelp
Why it's taken me this long to write a review for The Foundry remains a mystery to me... but here we are! I first found this place at the beginning of the pandemic and decided to check it out on a whim. Ever since then, this bakery has easily become one of my favorite bakeries in all of St. Louis. I introduce everyone I know to this bakery. Everything here is baked or blended to perfection. Not sure if I want to admit this, but I've tried probably every single item on the menu, both baked goods and drinks. Their seasonal menu items are bomb as well. Some of my favorites are the baked cronut, naisu milk bun, egg tart, Taiwanese toast, chocolate cherry, umami burst, strawberry matcha latte, and mango fruit milk. I basically named a large chunk of the menu, but how can I choose! They also have a pretty decent indoor area open for dining, getting work done, or studying. The owners are the ones that run the bakery, from the cash register, to the kitchen, to the drink making station - so it's a homey mom and pop shop. They are always SO nice and make you feel welcome.

Yelp
I really enjoyed everything I had. I love that pastries were not overly sweet. I do prefer the Asian/European level of sweetness. The teas and boba were great, and the pastries are very tasty. The service is friendly and quick. You can grab the pastries yourself and also order from the menu. There are plenty of tables to sit.

Yelp
As an Asian American, I've searched too long for a bakery like this in St Louis! Quality of baked goods, accompanying drinks, thoughtful production team--it was all there. If you only take away one thing from this review, please know that the food is made with love and care. I mean, you will experience it from the house made taro fillings in the glorious Taro Globe, or the marvelously flaky Portuguese Egg Tart shell filled with the perfectly sweetened custard. I met the owners there too. Ray and Leah. They are incredibly hard working and friendly people, willing to go out of their way to appreciate their guests. Don't be afraid to ask them questions about the menu or have a conversation. You will be welcomed there. When I visited with my husband, we ordered a few baked goods and paid at the register, got each of us a boba, and sat down at a window seat in the corner with plenty of space. It's reasonably quiet inside to read a book, do your homework, or take a break from a busy schedule. Stuff we got: Portuguese Egg Tart: Buttery Flaky Tart shell filled with Velvety Creamy egg custard. Taro Globe: Crispy pastry crust enclosing house made taro filling. My favorite. Taro is a root vegetable that has Nutty flavor with Lush and Creamy texture. It has a high fiber content and controls blood sugar levels. Perfect for a pastry filling! Red Bean Bun: fluffy sweet cloud of buttery bread filled with silky red bean paste Taro Bun: as above, but with silky taro paste Crispy Orange Bun: buttery laminated dough with hidden caramelized orange zest. Cronut: flaky buttery croissant-like dough, shaped and resembles a donut. Pork Flossy Bun: umami savory pork floss inside it's perfect bun

Yelp
The owners are super friendly and truly make an effort to make sure every customer is satisfied. Orders can be placed online at least 24 hours in advance for pick up, or you can also call to see what breads/pastries are available. They're constantly expanding their menu, and everything they've added so far has been a delightful addition. I highly recommend the Taro Globes and Naisu Buns. I would also recommend any of their brewed tea lattes (personal favorite: Tieguanyin Latte). CANNOT miss during the summer season: Mango Shaved Ice. They are so so so good about selecting fresh, juicy, sweet, perfectly ripe mangos! I have not been disappointed once (and I've ordered it a lot of times!). Their strawberry matcha latte is also very good. I literally cannot recommend this place enough. Good food? Good drinks? Amazing owners?? What else do you need? This place was one of the reasons I survived med school. It wouldn't matter how long it had been since I went, the owners always remembered me and would check in on how school was going.

Yelp
I was so excited to finally have a chance to try The Foundry. I had the crispy orange bun and also tried a strawberry matcha tea at the recommendation of the staff. The bun was sweet sticky and delicious! The strawberry matcha wasn't overly sweet which is how I prefer and was beautifully layered. I can't wait to come back and try more of their unique pastry options.

Yelp
The scene: A welcoming Taiwanese bakery, with a wide selection of baked goods for a variety of palettes. Great to grab a coffee or tea with a friend. Seems to be run by a passionate family, very attentive in their work & their guests. Good for: Any of their baked goods, had difficulty choosing a favorite here. Their pork floss bun was wonderful, great texture and the yuzu zest was a delicious addition. Their honey boba is perfectly cooked and not too sweet. Must have: Crispy Orange Bun. They've truly perfected their croissant dough, and the orange caramel is perfectly balanced. Very similar to a kouign amann, wonderfully flaky with a nice bite without being overly buttery or sweet.

Yelp
Great staff. Really sweet people. The food is high quality and not overly sugary which is awesome. Consistently good stuff and authentic. Comfortable space to hang out with friends.

Yelp
Finally got to try The Foundry Bakery for the first time this past weekend and tried some of the most phenomenal Asian pastries I have ever had. We tried the Taiwanese Bolo Bun, Umami Burst bread, and Foundry Egg Tarts. I was not expecting to like the Umami Burst bread but it amazing. A fresh loaf came out as we arrived and we ate almost all of it while waiting for our egg tarts. The egg tarts were some of the best I have ever had. The crust was flaky and crisp with what felt like an infinite amount of layers. The filling was smooth and light. Hope to be back soon!

Yelp
Excellent fresh baked breads and sweet items. One of my favorites is the Portuguese egg custard cups. Really delicious with a flaky crust. Also their umami bread and berry bread is excellent. If you haven't stopped in yet do yourself a favor and stop by. And bring home a loaf of bread for the family!

Yelp
Phenomenal pastries, some of the best I've had. Reminded me so much of Taipei. Go if you haven't been ;) the egg tarts, cronut and orange bun were my absolute favorites. The iced creamy coffee was extremely good as well. It's worth the ride even if you live far away.

Yelp
My parents were the ones that told me about this bakery. They have only lived in St. Louis for a year, yet they found a Taiwanese bakery that I hadn't even heard of! Shame on me. My first taste of the bakery's items were the Taiwanese bolo bun and naisu milk buns my parents had bought me. These buns a little different than the buns I've had at other bakeries, a little on the denser side, but I really liked them. What really sold me were the taro globes. I'm a big taro fan, and the taro globes they made are bursting with taro flavor as they use fresh taro. My first actual visit to the bakery was with my spouse when we went to pick up mooncakes that we had ordered. We ordered boba, the crispy orange bun, and the naisu milk bun. I've never had anything like the crispy orange bun before, it had some sort of delicious orange glaze on it. I really enjoyed the bun and also my boba. The tea was freshly brewed, and you could tell they are using some quality tea. On our first visit, one of the owners/baker (Ray) came and spoke to us. We told him how we had heard of him, and that we were bringing the mooncakes with us to family vacation. I loved that Ray took the time to come and speak to us, even though we weren't even regulars. He noticed we were new and wanted to welcome us. Right before we left, we got a Portuguese egg tart, which looked incredible. When we got home, I knew I had to try it. This was no egg tart like I had ever seen. It was big, dense, and had some slightly charred bits. I took a bite. This was absolutely the best egg tart I had ever had. I had to immediately call the bakery and tell them, which was exactly what I did. This is a must try for anyone. My recommendations for a first visit are the taro globe and Portuguese egg tart.
